Kogi West 2023: Kogi Westerners won't settle for less. - Hon. Alfred Bello Hon. Alfred Bello the PDP State Treasurer said Kogi West Senatorial District will not vote for any candidate whose competence and capacity is lower than previous Senators produced by the District. He emphasised that Hon TJ Yusuf is the only candidate that fits into this category for now said he is also a high ranking member of house of representatives who has carved a niche for himself as a vibrant and astute politicians who can keep the tempo of quality representation at the Red chamber. Certainly, Kogi West people will not go for less said aside that Kogi West has always been the base of PDP and Nothing can change it. Hon. Be informed! Today is ŌKĀ Festival in Kabba (Owe me le bó) While Ōrō Èmidin is post-Harvest meant to thank the supreme God, the Paramount Ruler of Heaven, (The Olu of Òrun, contracted to Òl'òrun) employing the intermediary of His terrestial saints and angels, the deities we call Èbòra, Ōka is anticipatory, thanking God in expectation of a bountiful grains (especially beans) harvest. There's the need to clarify the difference between Òlòrun and Èbora in the Owé/Yoruba believe system. Èbòra are invisible terrestial messengers. There are many Èbòra, but there's only one Òl'òrun. Sacrifice is offered to Òl'òrun through His Messengers. In the same vein, just like we don't genuflex or pray to the alter or the grotto, but to the unseen omnipresent God, it's not true that our forefathers were worshipping trees, idols, stones, etc. Their alters are their meeting places with their God's Messangers. It's obvious that our indigenous religions have not had the benefit of transmission from the old to the new testament as well as the Calviniste reformation which has eliminated intermediaries still recognised by the orthodox sects. Meanwhile, since culture is inseparable from a people's existence because it encapsulates their spiritual and corporal identity, and giving the current wave of self-identity, it's salutary that especially we Catholics now observe the Èmidin. It's to our evolutionary profit that we downplay the "animist" contents, ie the existence of Èbòra and celebrate Èmidin, Òka, Égunròdo, Abò festivals as unifying identitive forces. Happy Ōka to all Owé sons and daughters at home and in the Diaspora! Ōrō a gbégha ooooo! Ashè! - Francis Onaiyekan

KOGI WEST SENATORIAL DISTRICT PRIMARY ELECTION; WE ARE ALL WINNERS Permit me to use this medium to thank Almighty God for the overwhelming success of the Peoples Democratic Party's Primary elections for Kogi West Senatorial District. Also, I thank the leadership, National and State, of our great party, and the Primaries Election Committee for coordinating and conducting a very transparent, free, fair and credible exercise. Equally, I appreciate Leaders, Elders, stakeholders and party faithful for bringing to fore, once again, the virtues and ideals of the PDP as a truly progressive, ethical, disciplined party, that is driven by nation building and national development. More importantly, I wish to sincerely appreciate and thank my fellow contestants; Senator Dino Melaye, Hon. Sam Aro and Otunba Adeniyi Olayemi, for not only participi in the primaries but also contributing their respective quotas in showcasing PDP as the only national political party, and deepening the democratic ethos and credentials of our great party. My dear brothers, let me state that Today's Primaries and the final outcome is VICTORY FOR US ALL! WE ALL are WINNERS! Conscious of our firm resolve and commitment by every party faithful to not only RESCUE and REBUILD Nigeria (and our dear State) from the rudderless, confused and heartless APC led government that has enthroned grave economic hardship, economic squalor and unimaginable poverty on the citizenry, requires the commitment and sacrifices of ALL of us. As we prepare towards the February 2023 general elections, I will not only reach out but also seek the collaboration and synergy of my fellow contestants and other party faithful to flush out the APC. No man can do it alone...it requires the individual input and efforts of us ALL. That we have to, and must do. As we look forward to the successful conduct of our party's Special National Convention this weekend in Abuja, I implore us all to maintain true spirit of brotherhood and family relationship in all we do. As members of the same big, happy family, I plead that in our individual and respective campaigns, we exhibit proper decorum, eschew bickerings and unnecessary propaganda. Finally, I pray that our great party, shall continue to attract positive comments and massive endorsement from Nigerians across the country, such that the PDP will coast to victory in February 2023. HON. TEEJAY YUSUF MHR Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency and PDP Senatorial Candidate, Kogi West.

Senator Tunde Ogbeha is the problem of Kogi West. It is very sad that we don't have truthful leaders in kogi West again unlike the days of chief Awoniyi and jemibewon etc. Senator Tunde Ogbeha was the first person to distrupt zoning arrangements when in 1999 he agreed with the leadership that he will spend one term and the senate will move to Ijumu/Kabba/Bunu federal constituency and subsequently move to yagba federal constituency. But unfortunately out of greed and selfish intrest senator Tunde Ogbeha reneged on the agreement and contested with the likes of General David Jemibewon and Late Arc Stephen olorunfemi from Ijumu/Kabba/Bunu Federal Constituency. Though he rigged himself to victory but that was the beginning of zoning problem in Kogi West. Coming to the latest burning issues of senatorial chairman he selfishly want to impose Richard Akanmode on the people of ijumu against the popular choice of majority which is Prince Benson Omofe who by the constitution of the party qualify to replace late Kola Ojo from the same Ward where the position has been zoned. Already there has been precedence. When Saleh from lokoja was the senatorial chairman he resigned and lokoja people brought Balga from the same ward with saleh as replacement. When Late Muhammad a state ex-officio died from Koto, the leadership brought his replacement from his ward. The replacement done so far by this present executives is about 10 and their replacement has always came from the same ward where the position is vacant. The question is why must Ijumu case be different. Richard Akanmode is from Ayetoro ward and not from Okoro Gbedde ward where the position is vacant Even if the nomination of Omofe Benson does not please the cabal does it mean in the whole of okoro gbedde ward there's no any other capable hands to be senatorial chairman? When Lokoja brought Balga as replacement was there any senatorial meeting called? Senator Ogbeha why do you want to pick a replacement for the position that didn't come from your local government? Why are you supporting Richard Akanmode to senatorial chairman and his brother Prince Olusola Akanmode to be National delegates, the both of them will now go for national convention at the detriment of others. Please stop meddling into Ijumu affairs we are not an extension of Lokoja Local Government. All the local government has also been independent of choosing their representatives. Adebayo Joel From Ijumu LGA.

I don't know much about law, INEC may be right though and it's better the issue raised is critically look into in order to avoid unnecessary stories in the end. The truth is that this Electoral Act 2022 was hurriedly done and it obvious PMB has no interest in doing it in the first place if not for Nigerians who were on his neck and even after that a lot of problems still on ground. The section 84(12) of the act is a big test on PMB's integrity like seriously, trying to remove that aspect through every means possible shows that the President has a vest interest. |

I think this message is clear enough, sadly most comments here are made along ethnic lines. If FUTO decide not to a member of ASUU today, will there decision still be binding on the institution? The last time I checked, ASUU is a trade union and not a regulatory body like NUC. |

NOTE OF GRATITUDE! Henry W. Beecher, a great scholar opines that “Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.” While Sterling K. Brown counsels that as mere mortals, we must “always have an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving,” Melody Beattie posits that, “Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more it turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity… it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” It is in recognition of these timeless elucidations and more importantly, the divine charge in the Good Book, that, “…in ALL things, give thanks to the Most High,” that I use this opportunity and occasion of the yuletide season to Thank you Today, for Everyday. This unique festive season provides the best platform for me, as your Servant, to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for all your love, support and moreover the years. No doubt, the outgoing year 2021, has been a most turbulent, difficult year. From the first month to the last month, year 2021 has been full of uncertainties, unpredictabilities and multifarious challenges. For all, the year started with great expectation, lofty ideas and beautiful dreams. Somehow, for some people, certain laudable and life-changing visions, wishes are yet to crystalise. For many others, brilliant thoughts and destiny-changing plans, desires are yet to mature and manifest. However, irrespective of the global meltdown that has led to economic, social and political uncertainties in Nigeria, I am reminded of the measure of God’s grace over our lives as a people and the debt of gratitude we owe to Him. The words of Charlotte Bronte that, “Gratitude is a divine emotion; it fills the heart, but not to bursting; it warms it, but not to fever,” encapsulates the attitude we all should not only have but imbibe. We should realize that irrespective of our present predicament and failures, in the words of Kristin Armstrong “…when we focus on gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out and tide of love rushes in.” It is against this backdrop that I want to use this medium to extend my sincere and humble thanks to our Creator for His unfathomable kindness, unexplainable mercies and uncommon protection over our lives as a diverse, but unique people who have agreed to live together peacefully and driven by a common identity geared towards the meaningful growth and development of our very dear Federal Constituency. This moment of observance of Thanksgiving is a tradition I have come to cherish and respect because of the immense joy that comes with witnessing end of the year and the chance to look forward to a great year ahead. In giving my profound and sincere appreciation to the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, the words of former First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, readily comes to mind “…we learned about gratitude and humility – that so many people had (have) a hand in our success.” Permit me to specially acknowledge those whose forthright leadership contributes in no small measure to the progress and development of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency; all our Elders and Leaders (men and women), Traditional and Community Leaders, Religious Leaders, Trade Groups, Student Bodies, Community Associations, Civil Servants, Indigenes and Residents of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency. To you all I say a massive Thank You for ALL your support, prayers, passion, commitment and criticism. Without all these, my modest contribution to our dear Federal Constituency could not have been achieved. Indeed, through it all, unknowing to many, you all have become my greatest teachers. In acknowledging how supportive you have all been to the cause of our Federal Constituency, my horizons broadened, my strides become more confident; realizing that with you behind me, as your Servant, one can achieve much more. As the year winds down, we must continue to be reminded of the journey ahead. It is important we have at the back of our minds that “HOPE” does not consist in the material things the present presents, but in the unshaking belief in the power and possibilities of what obtains when we do the right things right. In these trying times, we must hold high the torch of Hope and Humanity which keeps us as a unique and special people in a blessed Federal Constituency. We can only achieve the very best for our Federal Constituency, when we come Together With One Hand, One Heart connecting Together so much can be achieved! For me, I make a solemn pledge that as I strive to consolidate on the positives recorded thus far; with your support and prayers, I will reflect on areas where mistakes, errors and faults have been made, with a renewed passion, desire, vigour and determination to correct, make amends and improve as your servant. Let me use this opportunity to offer my sincere APOLOGIES to any person, group, community that I may have wronged during the course of my duty. I do affirm with every sense of responsibility that such error(s), mistake(s) were NOT DELIBERATE. Rather it can be attributed to my unrelenting passion, resolute commitment, and firm determination for meaningful social, economic and political development of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency. As a people, there have always been things we do Together, there will always be things we could do Together – dreams we could make real. As we bound Together through our Faith in God, our belief in Progress, our Love of Liberty, our relentless Vision, Focus for the general well-being of our people, we will, collectively, achieve Much More for our Federal Constituency. Finally, as I humbly and passionately solicit your consistent prayers, support, counsel, commitment and understanding as always, I am confident that we shall Together, make Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency a great, prosperous, peaceful and fruitful place for all! God bless you, Amen. Hon. Paul Teejay Yusuf Member House of Representatives, Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.

Like the mustard seed, an educational intervention initiative put together by Hon. Teejay Yusuf, member representing Kabba-Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency, for senior secondary school students, which started in July 2011, marked it's Tenth Edition this year; September 2021, precisely. The Summer School Studies, code named; BACK-TO-SCHOOL, that has seen over 15,000 students participating and benefitting at each of the study centres spread across the Federal Constituency has, in numerous ways, impacted positively on the academic growth of youths and the advancement of education in our various communities. Also, on a yearly basis; since it's inception in 2011, through the programme, teachers, unemployed graduates and others have also had modest financial benefits whilst offering services at these study centres. At the Closing Ceremony/Presentation of Scholarship to the best students at the 10th edition of the initiative, which took place Saturday last week in Kabba, over 60 Awardees were recognized ed and honoured. From available records, between 2011 and this year, over 400 students have emerged as proud beneficiaries of the Scholarship Award. It is instructive to note that while few of these Awardees are now graduates, some are presently pursuing different academic programmes in Universities and Polytechnics. Notable royal fathers, dignitaries, political leaders and community leaders from various communities within the federal constituency, led by HRM Oba Solomon Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba & Chairman, Okun Traditional Council graced the closing ceremony. Others were HRH Oba Joseph Ikusemoro; Olubunu of Bunu, ably represented by Prince Richard Ikusemoro, HRH Oba Michael Yusuf; Obadofin of Oweland, HRH Oba Michael Ibinaiye; Obajemu of Oweland, Oba of Gbeleko, Oba of Odolu, Elesho of Oweland, Engr. Emmanuel Ajibero; who Chaired the occasion. Similarly, at the epoch making event, the top 3 best schools and students at the Hon. Teejay Yusuf/NTA Kabba Yearly Quiz Competition; which started in 2013, were given prizes. At this year's competition, the best three schools were, Government Science Secondary School, Okedayo, (1st Position) Christ Anglican Secondary School, Kabba (2nd Position), and Government Secondary School, Ayetoro Gbede (3rd Position ).

Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Green Chamber 2023; Seriously Speaking. By Obafemi Babajide The reason for qualitative leadership most times is to create an effective workforce environment, an enabling environment where optimum performances and smooth operations are enhanced. There are, however, the situation where touted leadership candidates flop either because they are overwhelmed or appears to have the quality needed but in the real sense of it, they are empty, factly speaking, they are completely empty and won’t be able to shoulder huge responsibilities, including taking spontaneous decisions. This first paragraph cannot be far from the reason why political leaderships are made. That political followers and the subjects that the political leaders represent needs actionable leadership is a fact that cannot be denied. That there is a deficit in leadership across the nation is also true; but that followers goad leaders to the point of misbehaviour, is also a solid fact. In it all, a strong leadership character should know when to beat a retreat when the hype is overtly done. In the same vein, leadership does not come by age. Either acquired by good and long experiences, innately inbuilt or learn through mentorship, it still doesn’t come by age because experience has shown us that though old age can be an additional spice in the boot of leadership, some so-called old and experienced hands have failed woefully in giving back a befitting leadership and mentorship to the society that produced them. Let’s narrow it down to leadership by legislating, a grassroots kind of servant leadership module. A person aspiring to occupy a legislative position to represent his/her people, either at the local government, state or federal level must have been close to the people he seeks to make law for or about in other to make useful and productive laws that will suit them in the short, medium and long term. It is important to write this preamble as a model for 2023. Government at all levels must synergise with one another without usurping or going beyond the borderline of each’s constitutional boundaries. For the risk of crying wolf, candidates that seek power to any strata of government also must be vetted, questioned and known locally. Each community, constituency putting forward a candidate must have signed an MOU for top-notch performance with such leadership position seeker. From the harem natural to the palm wine drinker, the garrulous vain commander and the stealthy, slippery, puff adder; Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency, have had a fair share of quality representation, from the various senators and house of reps that the constituency has produced over time. As much as there are, one cannot totally point out a woeful performance, the people can only ask for more by the way of innovations, inclusiveness, effective communication and feedback mechanism and even spread of constituency and lobbied projects. These and maybe more, the people should be looking for in the new and incoming leadership or representative as the case may be. With the present economic woes and the niggling challenge of non-qualitative leadership cum the hydra-headed monster of sycophantic followership, the next set of leaders who will emerge from Kogi state, Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu constituency must have to be people who can think out of the box and do things differently; after all, lack of foresight and seriousness is to continue to do things in the same way and expect a different and huge result. There has to be a radical departure from the present hands that are leading us, government and leadership should be handed over to those who are serious and mean business not the present lazy, embezzling can kickers and semi-illiterates that currently dictate the show. In it all, on the table of representation, constituencies should now wake up to sending brave people out there to become their representatives at all levels. Lilly-livered, money-seeking candidates who get into power by sheer sentiments will only self-seek, they are those who will never raise a serious motion, they are also those who will concur with every motion raised, either they know what it stands for or not. They end up as puppets used in counting the numbers, they also end up as aye sayers to the executive arm of government that they are voted to checkmate. Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency really needs to do a character check and CV vetting of those who may be jostling to represent them at the green chamber come 2023, the days are gone when people and party leaders will seat blindly on rotation without also sheaving candidates who will be supported to power. Keying into the new normal will mean tediously and thoroughly pruning aspirants, it will also mean asking them to submit a blueprint of why they seek to represent the people and what they intend to do or achieve while in power. By letting aspirants know that boxes of performances will be ticked for them via their submitted blueprints and that this will form the result of their performance and how they are viewed henceforth in our society will make the majority of power-seekers seat up. They have to know, and rightly so, that an opportunity miss used WILL NEVER present itself again. So, help yourself, up your game and not only earn the right to another opportunity but earn the right to be referred to as a true son of the soil who has written his/her name positively on the shores of time. For every Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu son and daughter, each passing day becomes a notebook where the history of what we did or did not do to uplift our constituency is been written. We have heard or read of those who have represented us in the past, so shall those coming behind us read about our bravery or shortcomings. The foundation we lay today will determine where and how our wards will live tomorrow. Wouldn’t it be better we toil today and lay the stones for a better tomorrow. Lest we bench our best and able hands who are ready to work their socks off to see a better Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency where equality and sincerity of purpose will reign. And enthrone those backward thinking, title-seeking, personal aggrandized non-ambitious individuals, then we need to put on our thinking cap and hand over power to a needle that has a thread. And if we are ever confused, confounded on who to send on this onerous but important task of staunch but productive representation at the green chamber come 2023, won’t we rather think Olaiya Michael Olobatoke? Sincerely and critically speaking, if we are to blend vigour, intelligence, sincerity and purpose, no other aspirant matches his tenacious determination to be selfless in representing his people.

"RISING SPATE OF ARMED BANDITRY, KIDNAPPING, KILLINGS IN KABBA, CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION, CHANGE OF STRATEGY BY SECURITY AGENCIES" - HON. TEEJAY YUSUF Following the worsening security challenges in and around Kabba, Kabba-Bunu LGA in the past one week, that has led to the death, kidnap and dastardly attacks on persons, buildings, institutions, farmlands and church, a federal lawmaker has called for immediate actions by relevant security agencies, and result-driven strategies that will restore peace and order in the affected communities and their environs. In a statement issued Monday, Hon. Teejay Yusuf who represents Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, while commiserating with victims of these unfortunate and dastardly armed attacks and the people of Kabba-Bunu LGA, wondered why, " these faceless armed bandits decided to unleash terror, brigandage, and pains on residents of these communities and the entire LGA, who are generally peaceful, law abiding, accommodating, while going about their normal daily activities. "It is not only shocking but very painful that within days, the armed bandits turned Kabba-Bunu LGA to their target, unleashing sorrow, grief, pain and wailing on the people. First, it was the gestapo-style attack on the Kabba correctional prison where many inmates were forcefully released. Next was the abduction of three poultry workers in Egbeda; a community in Kabba. Shockingly, these armed bandits last Sunday, attacked worshippers at the ECWA Church in Okedayo, Kabba, leading to death, kidnapping and injuries to innocent people." According to media reports, at the end of the attack on the ECWA Church, Okedayo-Kabba, one person lost his life, two persons, including the pioneer Provost of College of Education (Technical), Kabba, Chief Oshadumo J.O.T, were kidnapped, while his wife, some students and other worshippers sustained gun shots wounds. Speaking further, Hon. Yusuf declared that, "it is shocking that a group of people with evil minds and devilish attitudes will carry out such cruel, barbaric and animalistic actions on communities and people known for hard work, love, peace and unity. These heinous, senseless, and unimaginable attacks are not only outrightly callous, but also inhuman and clear demonstration of vicious wickedness at its zenith. Indeed, these spate of recent gruesome attacks on communities in Kabba-Bunu LGA, as well as other similar armed bandits operations in other communities in Kabba-Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency, and the entire Okun Nation, should be serially condemned by everyone. As a result of their activities and operations, the peace loving people of Okun Nation now live in perpetual fear, anxiety and worries. Also, trading and economic activities have been badly, grossly affected. Given the agrarian nature of our communities, people can no longer go to their farms for fear of intimidation, attacks, maiming, kidnapping and killings by these armed bandits." While acknowledging the efforts of the Police and other security agencies in tracking these armed bandits towards putting an end to their activities in communities within and around Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Teejay Yusuf charged, "security agencies to evolve more result-driven strategies to arrest the perpetrators of these crimes. Also, our security agencies should be more proactive and ingenious in terms of intelligence, information gathering and operations. Similarly, I call on the Federal Government and the State Government to intensify efforts and increase necessary support to security agencies in tackling and putting an end to the activities of armed bandits in our communities."

HON. OLOBATOKE SEGUN SAMUEL CONDEMNED ATTACK ON ECWA CHURCH OKEDAYO IN KABBA. 20-09-2021 I Hon. Olobatoke Segun Samuel extend my deepest sympathies to the family of Mr Gbenga Reuben. A security officer at the college of Education (Technical)Kabba, Kogi State. It is with great sadness that i learned of the passing of Late Mr. Gbenga Reuben during an attack on Ecwa Church Okedayo which also involved the abduction of the pioneer Provost of the college in person of Dr. Olusegun Oshadumo and his wife. I sympathize with the family of the deceased, those injured, the priest, the entire members of the church and the community at large. I was shocked and speechless when i came to know about this incident. I mourn his death and pray that God almighty will give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. I also advised our people to be security conscious at all times and to provide information regarding any suspected activities to security operative. I want to state clearly that the people of Okedayo and Kabba at large are receptive and accommodating. But this should not be misconstrued or mistaken for weakness. "Enough of this Malady". The Governor of Kogi State has been working untirelessly to curb the unabating insecurity in every areas of Kogi State. As of today, Kogi State is adjudged the safest State with 2nd lowest crime rate in Nigeria. His Excellency Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello has lived up to his oath of office to defend and protect the lives and property of the entire people of Kogi State without any compromise. This attack is condemned by many and i know that something will be done by the state government to bring the perpetrators of the attack to book and also ensure the release of Dr. Olusegun Oshadumo and his wife. May the gentle soul of Mr. Gbenga Reuben rest in perfect peace. Accept my condolences once again. Signed: Hon. Olobatoke Segun Samuel. Don't think marriage is meant for this lady. |
Which kind name be this? Is the guy an academic professor? GYB usually address himself as PMB son, it's obvious he will add to the burden of Nigerians if he ever succeed his acclaimed father. His abysmal performance as Kogi State is legendary. May someone so heartless, arrogant and corrupt like GYB never emerge as president of Nigeria. |
My experience with Kaskash! I borrowed 39k from them sometimes in July, unfortunately I couldn't meet up with the due date for repayment. They started charging me 2% of the actual loan amount as a penalty, so about a week ago I was able to pay the actual loan taken and left with the 2% extra charge which amount to about 23k. To my greatest surprise, they started charging 2% on the 23k again. I contacted them why the 2% charge, till date they have not replied me and I have made up my mind not to pay a kobo anymore. Most people are not criminal as some people are saying here but those online loan companies are really crazy. |
What do you do if you're requested to come along with them? ihemyoro: |
