the problem here is not the US (who obviously only thought about themselves when placing bases all over Europe), its the countries right at the doorsteps of Russia/Belarus (Like Germany/France etc) that could be hit with nuclear weapon even before anyone reacts. remember, Russia has 50 submarines all over the world carrying nuclear weapon.
