A few years ago, one of the branches of Winners Chapels opened on my street.

It didn't take long for them to set up 4 loud speakers outside their church. My quiet mornings became filled with their cries to God to have mercy on his people.

I struggle with insomia, and I'm a light sleeper. Imagine how the quality of my days deteriorated, waking up angry and possed, the gruntings from the Head Pastor's throat banginge ear drums every morning.

I confronted them on many occasions, but nothing seemed to work. I then had the brilliant idea to make a video recording and upload to my Twitter account. I tagged their Headquarters and their main account, asked them if Jesus was wrong to ask them to pray in cupboards, quiet and away from the neighbors.

I also went to all their social media pages and made an asshole of meself..... Gotta say this year, I noticed they have moved their speakers in... I rarely know when they have services, and my street is no quiet as Bleep again... Even on Sundays.

Have you had a similar issue? How did you solve it?

Flogging never actually worked.

Many parents flogg and gave up. Children revolt and fight back. Children become more dangerous and beast mode is activated.

Alot of children want to stay away from home.

At the end the flogging will at a point be needless. That is when most parent use the real parenting skills of advise and pleading.

You can not flog an 18 year old. He will fight you.

I think real parenting is the ability to use the other forms of effective punishment and reward approach. Because advise is the best.

In school the most notorious are still the most flogged. Did they stop being notorious? No.

The most pampered are more willing to excel academically.

In parenting, the ability to use the carrot and stick approach effectively works to a very large extent.

Children get use to beating and it becomes ineffective.

At a point you would not be able to beat that child. What will you do?

This is Africa where we we teach morals to children and encourage corruption of adults

We actually are too lazy in African schools to imbibe theories of parenting and teaching. We prefer the easier route. Using pain and fear.

If many Nigeria teachers were living abroad they will learn patience and respect for children rights.

We most certainly do not respect that in Nigeria.

Many wealthy politicians sent their children to these schools in Nigeria where no one hits their children.

These same children end up the in elite and political class. They very confident and outspoken.

Flogging is for the poor.

You are making it sound like the woman is trying to set up the husband when the husband was the one who committed the crime here. Her crime was taking her child to the hospital after seeing the bruises and marks the husband inflicted on the kid. These things are frowned upon in developed countries. The other child already confirmed it to the authorities so there’s nothing the woman can do in this case unless she wants to loose custody of the children

What are you saying? The woman did the right thing, if she had lied and the other siblings said the truth the court would think she is also abusing the kids like the husband and might also be arrested or the children will be taken away from her straight to Child protective services.

The transactional nature of relationships among some Nigerian men reveals a poverty mentality. First, it’s either a loan or a gift, and if it’s the former then there should be arrangements for repayment. But if it’s the former, then it should NEVER come with the expectation of getting something in return. Anyway, pretty sure that he got something (even if intangible) from the relationship.

In fact, it’s GOOD for BOTH of them…
Nobody should want to be in a relationship/marriage with a reluctant partner.

If he lent money to her for school, she should repay the loan…
If it’s a gift, then you don’t demand your gift back - but she might want to repay all the same.

Either way, it spares EVERYONE the headache of a TOXIC relationship. Best wishes!
