Politics / Re: Marketers Counter FG, Insist Fuel Subsidy Is Back by obi58: 3:23pm On Oct 11, 2023
I don't understand what the obsession is with whether or not subsidy is being paid or not.

It's quite obvious that with the deregulation of the naira and the current economic headwinds in the global market that international oil prices will continue to rise. Any responsible government will do everything to protect its citizens from such impact.

All those who clamoured for removal of subsidy and applauded the deregulation of the naira, it's been over 4 months since the new government implemented these policies and so far things have only become worse instead of better. Inflation is at record high levels, unemployment is so bad that NBS had to redefine same and the naira is at all time low. External reserves have tanked and national debt has doubled.

Right now it's hard to justify the way the subsidy was removed. If the status quo had been maintained till we were able to get the refineries running I believe things would have been better. All the trillions which was supposed to be saved from removing subsidy cannot be accounted for as there is no economic impact of these savings at all.

As for the independent marketers, believe them at your peril. They are only after their interests not that of the masses. December is fast approaching and they have started creating artificial scarcity to maximise their illegal income during this period.

God bless you. The scheme has outlived its importance and purpose! In fact, that 1 year delay has a serious impact on those who would have furthered their education.

I mentioned the same thing yesterday when the NYSC was begging employers to make room for corps members and some kid flaunting a 3rd class degree was saying it was because I didn't serve. I'm about to get my PhD but some silly kid was flaunting NYSC as an achievement. 🥴

Watch how Nigerians will come and defend the outdated scheme and start attacking everyone as if they wouldn't have survived without 1 year "alawee" grin

I wonder what university will issue you a PHD with this low level of reasoning.

Unless you are saying that Nigeria is no longer deserving to be a nation there is no reason why NYSC should be jettisoned. My main issue with the programme currently is the high level of insecurity present around the country and the level of efforts by the government to secure the country. This is crucial for the continued success of the NYSC programme.

That one year of service has broadened the horizons of so many youths who have lived all their lives in the shadow of their parents and cultural identity making them more rounded cosmopolitan and national citizens.

Do you know how many corpers landed significant jobs and business opportunities by virtue of their postings? Some corpers have chosen to permanently settle at their place of posting due to the wealth they have generated in that location.

Do you know how many corpers landed their significant others due to their one year service?

Do you know how these interspatial postings have helped foster unity and disuade ethnicity and tribalistic tendencies?

This has also helped in the transfer of knowledge and exposure to remote areas that wouldn't have experienced such developments if outsiders did not get posted there. We all know the impact of the missionaries in the development of education in Nigeria.

Instead our external reserves have dipped and our external debt has spiked without any significant expenditure to justify this development. Instead people are getting poorer everyday and we are experiencing hyper inflation.

Why wasn't she rushed to another hospital if they experienced rejection on arrival.

I was once a victim of an attack on the road in 1998 and my father rushed me to a private hospital.

I can recall the doctor was making some demands before he could commence treatment while I was losing blood.

My father quickly rushed me to another facility and from there an emergency doctor was summoned and the hospital services were activated to attend to me.

I survived that experience because we did not allow the system to decide my fate.

I believe if she was immediately rushed to a private facility, she possibly could have survived.

May her soul rest in Peace, several people failed her.

What if she was already in critical condition and would not have made it in time if she was moved?

Have you thought about this possibility too?

Hospitals are supposed to have emergency wards for a reason...

Was she shot that a medical official was demanding a police report for? Of course thank God for social media because I'm sure that even if the hospital had CCTV the footage would have since been deleted. Simply put the hospital staff displayed a very callous and inhumane attitude to their fellow man and would still expect to be shown mercy and given help when they need it.

Why are we now hearing about third parties issuing replacement certificates when a certified copy was obtained from the university as stated under oath?

I dont see Tinubu towing the part of peace.

Those who hailed and cheered Atiku won't be there to save him.

Atiku has lots of skeleton too and I foresee Tinubu revenge g against Atiku.

This will not end well for Atiku. I read the dispositions of CSU and at no time did CSU say Tinubu forged a certificate.

Atiku and his lawyers will have to produce the black American whom they claimed Tinubu used his certificate.

The press conference made no sense as Atiku has nothing to prove at the Supreme court.

There is no letter or records from CSU stating Tinubu forged a certificate.

There is what we call Evidence Act in law, here Atiku has no evidence but merely heresy

To set the record straight and to educate us on the right use of these English words, I will like to let us know that what HE Atiku, the former Vice President and defeated candidate of the PDP in the last Presidential election, held today is a Press Conference, not a World Press Conference

What is a Press Conference?

A press conference or news conference is a media event in which notable individuals or organizations invite journalists to hear them speak and ask questions. Press conferences are often held by politicians, corporations, non-governmental organizations, as well as organizers for newsworthy events.

The Error?

There's nothing like World Press Conference. Press conference is press conference.

Even if it's attended by international media organisations, it is still a press conference, not a world press conference.

Unfortunately, the press conference held by HE Alhaji Atiku today was poorly attended by the local media , 100% dominated by local press as one can gleam from those in attendance and the media brands on the microphones in front of him. The only non-Nigerian media name is VOA which still has a local Hausa service that caters to listeners from Northern Nigeria.

It was a press conference and not world press conference.

Please stop making this mistake. I hope this helps.
Regards.

Now please kindly explain what a gazelle garagara means.

I heard on radio that train tickets to Ibadan from Lagos are bought only using cash. Instead of using POS to ensure transparency and issuing dated printed tickets using a thermal printer they issue stock preprinted tickets.

All these give room for corruption and should be immediately curtailed if the train service seeks to be efficient and remain profitable over time.

What's the meaning of this ignorant rubbish?
LAWMA"s service is a paid service, not a free service, Lagosians all over Lagos subscribe for LAWMA to remove and dispose their waste for a monthly fee, it is obvious that the dirty Ladipo pigs are not paying LAWMA for their services like the rest of Lagos because they are used to their rotten, primitive and barbaric village pigsty way of life.

Are your dirty Ladipo brothers paying LAWMA to remove their waste? No.

Before you villagers compare Nigeria with advanced countries, get proper education about residential and commercial waste disposal in advanced countries

In advanced countries, all residential and commercial buildings must engage waste disposal companies to dispose their waste for a monthly fee, you cannot litter your environment for any reason, I mean, not for any reason, the city will fine you, they will also remove the waste and send you the bill with penalties included and even put a lein on your house if you don't pay.

Even in some areas, big shops are charged only N300 per month.

Fake Internet billionaires cannot pay N300 for waste disposal.

Please, confine your dirty and ignorant village ways to your fellow dirty village people.

This is why they say you people are too socially underdeloped to be part of any sane and lawful society or even coexist peacefully with other people.

Like I said it's obvious that you're bigoted and unwilling to reason like a rational being so continuing this conversation will be akin to arguing with a deranged individual.

How do you know that the traders don't pay for waste disposal? Don't they pay taxes in the billions monthly to the government? Again I ask what services has LAWMA provided in this public space to demand payment?

I hope you are not one of those keyboard cowards. Please air these your 'views' when next you are in Ladipo let's see what reactions you will get.

See dirty, pigsty and rotten ipob mentality.

So, because there's LAWMA, you are free to trash everywhere, desecrate your surroundings and create health and environmental hazards?

LAWMA educates you every day on how to manage and dispose of trash.?

I bet the rotten pigs and shop owners did not sign up for the LAWMA waste disposal service because the clowns don't want to pay the monthly disposal fees.

Btw, which agency is responsible for the rubbish below in your village?

Did you destroy this market with rotten trash and still sit on top of this stinking and rotten mess to buy and sell all day because your useless government did not clean your mess for you?

Some of you live worse than animals and it's sad that you are used to this rotten and pigsty way of life.

Sad..

From your clearly bigoted response it's evident that it would be difficult to have a rational conversation with you but I will try. Of course I will not demean myself to get into racist discussions. This is strictly about government putting necessary structures in place. So let's not make this conversation emotive but rational.

In sane societies, people don't litter indiscriminately because there are waste receptacles everywhere. Also waste disposal agencies are up and alive to their responsibilities. Similarly people will pay for functional utilities like electricity over going to buy fuel to run their generators. It's just plain common sense. You won't see someone with toilet in his house go out to defecate outside.

LAWMA was promulgated to provide waste disposal services which they have are clearly not doing. They are not alive to their responsibilities and should be held accountable for the heaps of refuse appearing everywhere. If you choose to punish Lagosians by depriving them of their source of daily income you also reduce income to the state as well as create more societal problems when desperate people now resort to crime.

How shameful!

Just imagine human beings living and coexisting with rotten trash, and garbage and buying and selling food that they put in their mouth.

Are they so immune to rot, stinking trash and garbage?

Pigs live better than these animals..

Sad.

So what is LAWMA doing about sanitising such environments? Go around Lagos and you will ask yourself if LAWMA still exists!
Politics / Re: Lagos State Closes Ladipo Market For Environmental Offences by obi58: 11:24am On Sep 29, 2023
olakraft:

Ladipo is filled with Yoruba traders as well as Igbos, so you don't need to make this about tribe. Many Yorubas are there selling bags of rice, not just Igbos.

If you are someone who values hygiene and cleanliness, you'd agree that dirtiness should be discouraged...

Let me ask you a simple question.... Will inhabitants in a house with a toilet go out to the bush to defecate?

Will people go out to dispose of waste indiscriminately if proper waste bins are provided everywhere and same emptied periodically by the relevant government agency? So please tell me what LAWMA has been doing to keep these markets clean? Instead they choose to bully the shop owners and cripple their source of daily income.

Charity begins at home. The problem is with LAWMA. If they are active in the discharge of their duties we won't be having these developments.

Government should be for the people and is supposed to be a service. People will happily pay for functional services. This is the truth.

I repeat it is only the foolish that will leave a perfectly functional waste bin to dispose of refuse indiscriminately and if such offenders are identified then they should be punished appropriately.

The issues are:

1. States that charge multiple taxes (like Lagos).
2. The plan to pass it on to the subscribers as if they are the ones who implemented the multiple taxes.
3. I may be wrong but I have not heard of this practice in other countries before.

Yes there is a problem for the Telcos but instead of taking the cheap way out to punish the people the problem of multiple taxes should be revisited and urgently.
