PoliticsRe: LASBCA Begins Removal Of  Distressed Buildings In Lagos Island, Mushin, Others by obi58: 9:50am On Sep 13, 2023
PHAYOL81:
WHAT??? Imagine the mentality of a supposed intelligent IGBO: Damn! So because we still have pocket of road dilapidation issues should necessarily ceases the government from performing all other aspects of governance and measures. OR must people die before your brain tells you the importance of PROACTIVE demolition of distress buildings?
MUST Igbos sees negativity in everything, even the POSITIVES? Is that the way your IQ are wired or is it the sadistic tendency at play? Perhaps, you tell us where in the world a country allows its citizen opportunity to keep the MORTGAGE s/he's unable to service financially, or what's the reasons behind numerous blocks of houses the governor has built and the numerous other housing properties/estates springing up in all the neighborhood? SMH
Read what I wrote and this time try to do so disapassionately.

I am not against any so called demolition provided appropriate compensation is provided to both the owners and the tenants ejected.

Also we don't have pockets but plethora of road issues plaguing the state which people die from every day.

You just need to stroll to any health facility in the state to witness the amount of people who lose their lives daily because of the state of our health care facilities.

To me these represent more critical areas deserving of attention than the so called buildings involved.

As to the issue of tribe, read what I wrote again and note that I am non partisan. All people trying to bring ethnic colouration into the discussion of social issues affecting the lives of ordinary Lagosians need to have a rethink and grow up urgently.

Where in the report did you read that the entitlement was for 8 years?
.. If it was being paid in the last 8 years why would the president have to step in NOW for the entitlements to be paid?

You're missing the point here.

The question should be why are ANY soldiers (dead or alive) being owed entitlements in over 8 years of APC administration with the monumental budgeted sums allocated yearly to Defence in the so called fight against terror?

Whether we want to lie to ourselves or not, the truth is that there is real hardship in the land.

Every week market prices are on the rise. Daily transportation is not a joking matter anymore. N500 today is like N100 a year ago.

Even with the stable post subsidy fuel price, dollar is still steadily approaching N1000. Some time back we heard of CBN taking a loan to stabilise the naira, that one don enter voicemail.
PoliticsRe: LASBCA Begins Removal Of  Distressed Buildings In Lagos Island, Mushin, Others by obi58: 6:01am On Sep 13, 2023
Those are easy targets for the government.

Charity they say begins at home. The people who live in such dilapidated structures do so because of their current economic condition.

What is the government doing to provide opportunities for the economic transformation of the lives of these people? As these people are moved out, what compensation is to be paid either to the building owners or the ejected tenants by the so called welfarist government?

What about the lives lost daily in Lagos due to bad roads and dilapidated hospital facilities?

As for the tribalistic fools (Ibo this, yoruba that) on this forum who are less concerned about the social issues therein please make Una try get sense small.... Una don dey old small small. A fool at forty is a fool forever.

Tinubu himself knows he did not win.

Nigerians should put pressure on the National Assembly to amend the electoral law and make it compulsory for every polling unit election result to be uploaded to iREV direct from the polling unit on the election day.

And any polling unit result uploaded after 3 hours that the last voter voted at that polling unit must be cancelled.

Making electronic transmission of polling unit results to iREV a mandatory electoral law will reduce election rigging in Nigeria drastically.
Last election was a sham. It was almost getting to the point where voters needed to arrange their own security to be able to cast their votes. Many were clearly intimidated to prevent them casting their votes for their preferred candidates.

This government Sanwo-Olu is really working o shocked

No wonder Lagosians stood by him to win his second term.

No wonder they didn't look the side of Chinedu aka Gbadebo.
Sanwoolu working.....

Please take a picture of the road leading to your house. I want to check something abeg.

That's why Lastma officials were begging Lagosians and apologising for their excesses before the election and Sanwoolu was making appearance at every Lagos child's birthday party like an MC before the election PLUS the use of voter intimidation to secure a second term.

National o not Lagos state union of road transport workers but you want Lagos levies to remain in Lagos because of greed.

Wonderful!

My issue with Nigeria's Police is that give those police guys just 3 months and you will pity the state of those vehicles when you see them.

If you want to know the poor maintenance culture of Nigerians just take a look at the Nigeria Police's patrol vehicles.
You shouldn't blame them for that.

Blame the government for not making provision for the maintenance of these vehicles. Instead they prefer to spend billions procuring new vehicles every now and then.

PoliticsRe: How Lagos Can Pay Back $1.17 Billion Loan For The Train Project In 1 Year by obi58: 8:36am On Sep 09, 2023
FreeStuffsNG:
Those are conservative estimates he used there. Tourist visits alone will add like a quarter of a million passengers to the estimate he used. The trip will increase from 12 to 72-76 trips daily.

There's also finance income from the savings and investment of the cash flow revenue. LASG has the institutional experience to grow that revenue by at least ×2.5. That's why we are Lagos the centre of excellence and pride of the black race. We are Omoluabi! Check my signature for free stuffs!
All you're interested in is in growing revenue not in how efficiently the generated revenue is used.

With all the record breaking IGR of Lagos, the expectation is that the BRT would have phased out yellow buses by now and that there would be no single pothole in Lagos.

These are kind of inhumane people that we have in government. Their only concern is profit maximisation and only remember the electorate when it is election time.
PoliticsRe: How Lagos Can Pay Back $1.17 Billion Loan For The Train Project In 1 Year by obi58: 8:30am On Sep 09, 2023
It's just a sign of naivety to make a projection to pay back same loan in a year without making provision for all the overheads that will be incurred daily to RUN the metro.

SALARIES
FUELLING
REPAIRS
FACILITY MAINTENANCE
ELECTRICITY BILLS
INTEREST ON LOANS
etc

Red line is 95% completed too
Plans are all well and good but What of the others?

Of all the lines, its the ones with the lowest Kms (blue and red) that are almost completed and those ones took over 20 years to complete with very unclear information on how much has been spent so far.

When is the target date of commencement and completion for the Green, orange and purple lines.

Reno Omokri was right when he said Tinubu was the best governor to ever come out of Nigeria. I laugh when people compare that Agulu local champion that invested Anambra's money on hero beer factory grin

As a result of Tinubu's ingenuity, Lagos recorded annual IGR of N14.6 billion in 1999, representing a monthly average of N1.2 billion. When Tinubu left office in 2007, the figure rose to N83.02 billion, a monthly average of N6.9 billion. Between 1999 and 2007, the IGR growth rate of Lagos stood at 468.63 percent, showing a considerable increase.

Peter Obi on the contrary grew Anambra State IGR from N7 billion to N8 billion, a measly N1 billion after spending eight years (his tenure).
I wager that you'd not be man enough to respond to this question but I will ask it anyway...

For all this monumental growth in IGR recorded in Lagos state, kindly in clear terms explain how this has translated to improvement in the quality of life of Lagosians using a comparative analysis of the development indices figures over time. Can Lagosians boast of commensurate improvements in roads and transport infrastructure? Clean environment? Good schools? Pipe borne water? Affordable housing? Improvements in accessible health care facilities? Waste management? Traffic management?

and as 2023 he was part of APC campaigns council
APC campaign council is not a public sector appointment.

He can support from the sidelines but he cannot serve in public office without the right qualifications.

The constitution clearly states this and the NYSC act clearly ratifies this.

shey you are aware shittu contested for governor under CPC in 2011 so what is wrong if he decides to go and contest again as minister
We are talking about the latest precedent and as at 2018 he was barred by his party APC from contesting as Oyo state governor because of his NYSC or lack thereof which was same reason he was sacked as minister.

adeosun case was different, she didn't participate in scheme , she went and get her NYSC certificate through back door, if in her cv she only present SSCE certificate nobody will Ask or investigate about her NYSC. Peter obi is a graduate but he only submit WAEC to INEC with is within the law
I think you have seen the headline where Shittu was barred from campaigning under APC because he didn't get his NYSC?

Also you are aware that his ministerial appointment was eventually terminated by Buhari because of the NYSC scandal which led to his bid to go and contest for Oyo governorship where he also failed because his party rejected him over NYSC?

Stop trying to justify what is wrong!

There are some jobs the requirements is until you have degree, diploma or ssce before you can be offered the job. So if you chose the one for ssce nobody will Ask for your NYSC, if you chose the one for degree definitely you must be Asked for NYSC. Now elective position from councilor to president it's ssce certificate that is required nobody will Ask for your NYSC, appointment as minister or adviser nobody will Ask for your NYSC certificate the requirements is SSCE that is how it's in 1999 constitution. Their is different between assuming and what it's already in the constitution. That is why the constitution gives room for amendment
She was rejected in 2020 because she was a graduate not ssce holder who didn't complete her nysc.

In 2023 she still hasn't completed same. Also there is a fundamental conflict of interest as she is already currently employed. That is why ALL ministers resign their current appointments upon ministerial nomination. That is why she cannot be serving as a corper and as a minister.
