Yes Nigeria Stock Exchange should be renamed Lagos Stock Exchange. However, the laws that proscribed Onitsha Stock Exchange should be abrogated so that Onitsha Stock Exchange would be restarted again. |
Just like he took stupid players to the Confederations Cup instead of those that won the Nations Cup! He should stick with what he has, add no more than 2 new players. Even if those outside the team are better than those in the team already, do they have a winning mentality, good work ethics, and are they team players? I hope Keshi doesn't create confusion for himself. Stick with a winning team! |
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State is enmeshed in a crisis of identity and ownership. Those from the legacy parties that formed the APC are determined to stop Governor Rochas Okorocha from painting the APC in his personal colours. To say that things are no longer the same in the newly registered All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State, is stating the obvious. This crisis of confidence among its members came to its peak with the hoisting of a parallel state executive by those, who claim to be the authentic members of the party. These APC loyalists, largely drawn from the leaderships of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, All Nigeria People’s Party, ANPP, and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, pride themselves as “the legacy parties”. Apparently irked by what they termed “plans by the rebel group from All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to hijack APC and turn it into a private estate in the state”, the aggrieved “authentic leaders” met in Owerri recently and issued a far reaching communique. The major plank of the communique was the constitution of a new leadership for the party in the state, arguing that nature abhors vacuum. They rolled out the names of the new interim party leaders as Mazi Nati Iwuagwu, State Chairman, Chief Ahamefula Ibekwe, State Secretary and Mr. Emeka Nkume,State Publicity Secretary. Other party loyalists that made the list include Mrs. Vivian Echeruo, Engr. Adaugo Obi, Ichie Ted Okoro, Mrs. Getrude Ehiriudu, Prince A. C. Dara and Chidi Agbaso. With the parallel leadership firmly installed, the battle for the soul of APC in Imo State has therefore started. The new leadership was immediately given the mandate to establish similar committees at the wards, polling units and local government levels. Explaining the ground for their action, the authentic APC leaders said that by virtue of Electoral Act on merger of political parties, only the members of the merged parties, CPC, ANPP and ACN are the legally recognized members of the new party, APC. It was equally their considered opinion that “no fresh registration has been conducted in Imo APC since the merger, or could legally have taken place in APC Imo State or elsewhere in the country since August 31, 2013”. The group then concluded that every other person that parades himself or herself as a member of APC, is a concessionary member and must await regularization by getting formally registered with the party at his or her ward in the state. The authentic APC leaders roundly condemned what they called “the audacity with which the concessional members, namely the APGA “rebels,” who are in our midst, are trying to hijack the party at the state, local government area and ward levels with impunity”. Apart from the foregoing, the authentic leaders of Imo APC warned APGA rebels in their midst to “stop the arbitrary constitution of interim officers of the party at all levels”. Apparently worried by the way the authentic members, including the likes of former governor, Chief Achike Udenwa, Chief Mike Ahamba, SAN, Chief Chukwudi Mayor Eze and host of other chieftains were being sidelined by the “APGA rebels, who were brought in on attachment”, the group opted to draw the attention of party officials at the national level and urged them to take urgent action to mitigate the crisis in the state. They pointedly told the national leadership of APC that they no longer accept the gospel of a sitting governor in the state until he, Governor Rochas Okorocha, becomes a duly registered member of APC. Vanguard Politics gathered that Governor Okorocha is not only uncomfortable with the situation in the state but has also complained to the National Headquarters of APC. He was particularly irked that his membership of APC was being seriously questioned by party loyalists in the state, even as they vowed to approach the court to seek his eventual removal from APC. Although the suggestion put forward by Okorocha to the effect of appointing interim management committee was supported b APC-NEC, he was not too sure that the authentic party men and women would be prepared to be part of the new arrangement. Reacting to the situation in a telephone interview, a top founding member of APC, Engr. Adaugo Obi, said “the gulf between Okorocha and the aggrieved members of APC in the state was widening by the dawn of each new day”. She pointedly accused the Governor of not carrying the original owners of the party along, adding that what they have been experiencing was better imagined than experienced. Meanwhile, there are camps within Imo APC. In line with this development, several meetings have been holding in the homes of the big names in APC, including Chief Achike Udenwa and Chief Mike Ahamba, SAN. The agenda has always been how to resolve the marginalization inflicted on them by Governor Okorocha. |
berem: They are already in jubilation when the election has been declared inconclusive. What a shame!APC came 3rd! |
APC came 3rd! A woeful performance by Mallam Tunde Ngige. |
And to imagine most online Igbos supporting this is most shameful.
Provided that 'smelly broom' is returned back to Lagos, no problem. We are happy! |
Wherever there's APC, there's chaos, riot, thuggery, anarchic etc. Akwa Ibom comes to mind... They want to export their 'Wild Wild West' to the East ![]() |
owolabifunke14: Labour Party till eternity. MimiKo's supporter forever. Una miss by rejecting the party of the righteousAPGA and Labour should merge. They seem to be the only sane parties around. |
APC has urged INEC to deregister the party in Anambra State as, from every indication, the party is not welcomed there. |
AtlanticBreeze: Ngige says APC will not participate in theThey should deregister the party as well in Anambra State! |
I cannot be happy yet until Ngige loses his senate seat as well. Nonsense! He could have been better off under Labour party. |
Skillbobralph: Keep wondering if Anambra State has there own State chapter of APC. All complains and recommendation always comes from Lagos State chapterIt's their head quarters where every loot is channeled into Tinubu's account. |
nedu2000: И̣̣̣̥o one retires a year b4 a world cup especially when his team qualifies,he wants a last hurrah & you cant blame him,I hope he makes the worldcup team,he'll retire after the competition I'm sure of itI hope he retires immediately if he was omitted from the world cup squad without running to the press talking crap. |
'Biafran' team won us AFCON in 1994 and 2013 while 'Nigerian' team has fumbled over and over again. Maybe we should stick with more 'Biafran' teams for success. |
As has been the tradition in the Super Eagles, many of our ex-players retired from international football once they get dethroned from their position by a younger player especially after they have featured for so long in the national team setup. This is particularly more obvious for Captains. So what is Joseph Yobo still waiting for? Referring to Vincent Enyeama as stand-in captain does not sound good since he has captained the side now for a long time. I think he is waiting for the Coach to officially name Enyeama the captain which has not been the tradition in the national team as the most capped player often is the captain. To avoid unnecessary controversy and media backlash, Joseph Yobo should humbly retire since he has served us for so long and he is no longer required. |
I think Keshi is making a big mistake. For the two games against Ethiopia, he did not play the core central midfielders of Mikel, Onazi, and Mba/Ogu that often control the tempo and keep possession very well, rather he has played Moses, Musa, Ideye/Oduamadi, and Emenike all at the same time and just two of those central midfielders. We need those three central midfielders to keep our shape and game style. So far, we haven't been able to keep possession. |
The pictures do not show that poverty is rising in Europe. Those are Roma people or Gypsies and that's how they live even if everything is available to them for free. They love to beg and live in shanties. |
thegoodjoehunt: People keep complaining about why Haruna Lukman is not yet called up by Coach Keshi. He might be good with the ball and shoot but not also strong on the ball. I believe Coach Keshi will work on him with time. That's one player with no intelligence. He's skillful though but a liability. |
Radoillo: I'm glad one other person understands that this isn't about the most important deity in the traditional Igbo belief system; that position belongs to Ala/Ali/Ani/Ana. There's never been a question about that.As well as Amadioha, Kamalu and Agbara. Obiagu1: Like NRI PRIEST mentioned. |
ChinenyeN: Some people don't seem to understand the meaning of "oracular".Now we are into grammar. What's the difference between Oracle and Alusi? |
odumchi: I nugo ife m gwalu I. Adiro agwa okenye ofu okwu ugboro ibua. The question is: Is Ubini Ukpabi's name Okigbo or not or is it that the writer did not know what he was talking about? |
Like NRI PRIEST mentioned. Some people do not even know that Oye, Afo, Nkwo and Eke are gods and in some towns are the only gods available. Those are Nri gods and are more popular than any other god except Ikenga and probably Amadioha. By the way, Amadioha is not an alusi per se but a god similar to Agbara or Ana. |
Who consulted Ibini Ukpabi? Was it not a god used to prosecute wars and to fraudulently sell people into slavery? How popular is Ibini Ukpabi? It's only when people talk about slavery and Aro that Ibini Ukpabi is mentioned. |
abagoro: You are very funny. The most popular deity in Igboland is Amadioha and it is an Aro thing. Most people started hearing about this Nri or Nshi while reading in school and not from their village or parents. You lie a lot... |
We have plenty of other apps that I don't see the need for bbm in Android. Why should I have to give someone a pin number I can't even remember when i can easily give my number to the person and he/she will automatically have me in Whatsapp, Viber, etc? |
odumchi: Why do you act as if you know everything? That's funny, who wrote that? When did Ibini Ukpabi's name turn to Okigbo? |
pazienza: I would go with the Edda view, seeing as it made a lot of sense. Perhaps, as arochukwu grew and their power and importance grew too, Okeigbo began to take a new meaning,to suit their new found relevance, power and ego.It has always been known as OkeIgbo (Igbo boundary). People never called it OkiIgbo/OkeIgbo (Great Igbo) from the way it is pronunciation except those that are reading it wrongly online. |
ChinenyeN: From an article titled "Anambra Is Ancestral Home of the Igalas".People will say Eri is the progenitor of the Igbo race but will only 'claim' Eri and his children founded the towns in Anambra that include Ogbunike, Agukwu-Nri, Enugu-Ukwu, Enugu-Agidi, Nawfia etc. The believe is that every other Igbo town came about from the migration and re-migration of Eri's children. So the word 'claim' has to be used properly. I've never heard any Igbo 'claim' we founded Igala. |
