it is very wise to buy but make sure you get a high stop rate when buying to make up for the risk incase yawa gas. Bt to be frank guys ntin will happen come 2015 it just an election.politician will always be politician abi them get another country other than 9ja?

it z never too late just go to ur bank and tell them u want to buy tbill u shd ask the following question like what is thier rate for the various tenors if u are ok wit thier offer, u write a letter to ur acct. Officer wit the following detail tenor,rate it shd be more than 9.5 at least my own take.the acct number in which u wish the money to be debit frm.

Hi, NIBOR (Nigeria InterBank Offered Rate) is a lending rate between banks, there are Overnight rate, one-month rate, etc, I just used it to buttress the fact that liquidity was seriously low yesterday, citeris paribus, there is always an inverse relationship between the level of liquidity in the system, and NIBOR.

Sovereign risk is increasing, so, if you are not strong, 3-months Tbill will do, otherwise, enjoy!

My bills mature soon and I'll be putting in a bid at 12.25% on 4 Dec.

I would have gone a bit higher, say 13% but I need to be successful otherwise Xmas go dull.

I would have used the money I invested in Tbills to buy a new car which I didnt need and it would have lost half its value by now. Instead this thread prompted me to do something different. I took the plunge and went to Naija and I have not one regret. I have made just short of N1 million over the past 18 months and my capital still dey kankpe (subject to no civil war)

I still get that itch for a new car but my money being tied down and so far away means na for dream and picture I go dey drive that new car.

We are getting there, liquidity level as at today is less than 100 billion naira, though FAAC should come in later, interstingly, Nibor rates are above 18%, God dey.

We are heading towards 13%, Insha Allah.

What's d procedure for bidding personally

just write a letter to your account officer indicating the following tenor stop rate(that is the rate you wish to invest),acct. Number
but bear in mind if your stop rate is higher than cbn rate you lose your bid,and if you bid less that what the bank will give you instead of the cbn rate.
If u r a newbie i will advice you go with your bank rate it just 0.3-0.7 difference with cbn stop rate
people who bid and are succesful are either very experience with tbill or very lucky
my 50kobo advice z find the bank with the highest rate and invest using d bank rate i would go for diamond bk they offer great rate #FROMEXPERIENCE#

nigerian tbill is like fg bond that they pay at a discount value and profit is paid upfront,no tax withholding i would advice u to search a thread on nigerian treasury bill by feelamong and read up u get more gist and ur questions answered

I've been wondering the same thing myself. Ive read a lot of comments from some analysts advising that we hold on further TB till after elections. Are people anticipating breakup (heaven forbid!) or what?

no we r nt anticipating break up we r just anticipating high interest because there will be enough money in circulation so we expect more interest to moop up the excess cash.election money 4 settlement so i expect double digit z dat too much to ask?

It's usually a day (Wednesday) before the indicated date. Some of the dates are maturity dates.

6/11/14 but before you do that make sure you have idea of the stop rate

You may bid via your bank and state your bid rate in an instruction letter to your bank at least a day before the auction date. However, I won't advice newbies to go through this channel as they may lose out easily. You may consider going through a bank that sells to you from their successful bid (e.g First bank). They are good at it and are most likely to be successful with their bid. This way, you are almost guaranteed a successful purchase but you must accept the interest rate that they give to you. In most cases however, the rate you get won't be far from CBN's stop rate. Plus, you get an option to rollover your investment and worry less about subsequent auctions. If you however decide to bid via your bank and eventually lose out, you may consider buying from the secondary market instead of waiting for the next auction.

You cannot know the exact rate as it is determined by an auction (held fortnightly) in which the final decision lies with the CBN.
