LANDING GIST OOOOOO

MMIA to YYZ TORONTO

I left my house with my family around 8am and got to the airport by 9am.
We got in later on and I went straight to immigration while my sister and mum went to fill a form for me. My brother wasn't allowed to enter at first but my sister gave the security 500 naira and he was allowed (ndi oshi).

So later on it was my turn to go meet of the officers and I was asked for my Enrollment letter and passport. Thank God I got Enrollment letter from my school before traveling cz I was even thinking it wasn't needed anymore. She sha started gisting me me and was telling me some stuffs. Later on, I went to check in, meanwhile my family were helping me out with my luggages (I had two extra 23kg Luggages making it 46kg and we paid huuuggge money meehn, but it's all good)

So at the check in point, I was asked for my passport only. She stamped my passport and then gave me my boarding pass. My Luggages where still being sort out and after the whole stress of weighing and getting off some stuffs into another big Ghana must go bag that we bought at the airport, and after paying for the extra Luggages, they finally checked in my Luggages and I was good to go.

I went to chill out with my family and after about 30mins or 1hr, it was time to go in for boarding. My family starte crying and even me too I cried but we had to say our goodbyes and I left amidst the emotional atmosphere. At the first point, the man man checked my passport and asked for weekend money, I sha gave him 200naira. I went in and met a queue, it got to my turn and I was asked for my passport and the yellow card that was given to me. I gave it to the man and he asked me to provide the address I would be staying at, and I did. I thumb printed and I went in. I got to another point of checking in your bags, shoes, wristwatch and phones/laptops. I got in after that I met yet another long queue (final one). It got to my turn and I was asked for my passport, vaccine card and arrive can. He checked them except for my arrive can cz he said I should go. Then a woman officer searched my hand Luggages and then asked your yet another weekend something. I sha gave her 1k and she was so happy.
I then walked in to sear and wait for boarding.
We finally boarded and took of after some mins. Landed at ADD and after much rigorous check-ins, got boarded again and took off to Dublin, got there but we didn't get off the airplane cz it was just some refuelling and aircraft check up landing. We took off after about 45mims and God in His INFINITE MERCIES brought us to Canada safely.

23hrs Journey from Lagos to Canada was all worth it and I still don't know how to thank my JEHOVAH EL-SHADDAI!!!

After getting study permit which was quite very easy and smooth (I was only asked for my passport, LOI and admission letter), I went to get my luggages and then waited for my sister and hubby to come pick me up. I finally saw them and then it was time to go home.
I was pretty exhausted to even check out the beauty of Canada on our way home but I will return to gist you guys on that later.

I pray all who are still waiting for PPR will get theirs soonest. God bless us all and continue to keep us. We will be alive to see and be all that God has purposed for us in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen!!!

Shalom!!!

Good morning everyone. Please I will be heading to Canada by July. Will stay with my sis and hubby in Brantford for a while before heading to my own city, Barrie.

Please does anyone stay in Barrie or have any link to accommodation that would be available around August/September?
Thank you.

Zenith bank

shupy:

Hi, what bank did you use?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Obibaby: 6:57am On Jun 10, 2022
Zenith bank. My school fees hasn't been debited yet. They only took their service charges yesterday. I applied 26th of May.

DaSugarBoi:

Pls which bank did u use and how many days or weeks did it take for your acct to be debited?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Obibaby: 9:06pm On Jun 09, 2022
Exactly!! These same amount were debited. First was 5k and then 3k later. I was just wondering what was going on. Thank you for the clarification.

loohlaah:

Right now, FORM A should cost you about N1,684,000 in total for $4000 nothing more nothing less.

Breakdown
$1 is @419 = N1,676,000
CBN charges = N5000
Bank charges = N3000 (well, most banks)

Ohh thank you ShowYoung for your response.

ShowYoung:

Yes, they do charge some two fees days after processing.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Obibaby: 8:48pm On Jun 09, 2022
Please regarding Form A, does CBN or the processing bank deduct service charges or whatever from the applicant's account before deducting the main school fees amount? Because my mum got some small small debit alerts this evening and it was written "CBN" along side my Form A number.

My Form A was approved by my processing bank 2 days ago and today we started seeing the deductions. Please has anybody experienced this with Form A?

Alright then, it will be updated on your portal.

Good luck

Filanodivine:

Yeah I included the medical slip in the additional documents section and also provided the UMI number in the online form for new portal..just being curious though.. thanks
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Obibaby: 7:35pm On May 08, 2022
You should have submitted the slip that was given to you when you did your Medicals, along with other documents when you applied for visa.
The unique number on the slip is what IRCC will use to identify your results sent by the hospital. So now you have to send the slip via webform ASAP.

Filanodivine:
Hello everyone, I did an upfront medical on march and I submitted my application last month being April. I just did biometrics last week and it has been updated on IRCC website. Do I need to mail them to inform them of the upfront I did or just let them review it when they can?? Although I notified I’ve done upfront while filling the online form before submission

@MightyRance... I don't really think there's anything to worry about cz it will definitely be updated. Mine took a month and 13days, and I didn't even worry nor send them any emails or webforms. I still got my PPR later on. So there's nothing to do but to be patient.
Some even get theirs updated a day to their PPR. You've done your part right, allow them do theirs.

Good luck.

MightyRance:
Today makes it 26th day i submitted. IRCC is yet to update my medicals.

I have sent my e-medical tracking sheet via webform and email more than 5 times. they are still yet to update it.

I don't know what to do anymore

You are to send the slip to IRCC after your Medicals through the webform informing them about the upfront medicals. Qlife will do their own part of sending your results to IRCC, while you also do your own part of sending the slip Qlife gave you to IRCC so that they can update your application later on.

It will end in praise.

Been waiting for this like say....
Congratulations dear Buchito, we de your back!! Patiently waiting for when I can travel, I go just wake up, look my stamped passport, check the remaining months I have and sleep back grin grin
Thank God for journey mercies! I think I will just carry better snack when traveling, I cannot come and eat nonsense in the flight biko and I'm also traveling with Ethiopian airline.
God bless you dear. Stay well and start enjoying Canada grin

buchito1:
Hi guys! Guess who's in Canada!! grin

LANDING GIST!!!! BRACE YOURSELF tongue

So my trip was Lagos - Vancouver via Ethiopian Airline by 1:40pm wasn't a smooth one, but I thank God..

Arrived the airport very early, but the queue at the airport no be here! Airport was crowded, scattered, nothing was orderly at the Airport. After waiting for almost 1hour on the queue, one devilish immigration officer eventually told me to join a wrong line, and I lost my spot, and had to go back to the queue again! I almost comot my boxer swear for this guy! angry

He just kept apologising, that's what calmed me down sha.
Got to Ethiopian Airline/Naija Immigration checks, was sha asked for my Passport, Acceptance Letter, Arrive Can, Vaccination Card, Covid-19 TEST PCR (which I eventually did, cause I just didn't want any issue and problems.) they told a Chinese lady there to go get a Covid-19 Test and I'm sure she missed the flight, and that was all.

Going through checks to board my flight, begging and taxing everywhere at Naija Immigration, I no give anyone 10kobo, cause no be their papa gimme money I use apply for Visa or pay any of my expenses, my check-in bags were searched and unfortunately, those wicked Naija Immigration seized my body lotion, body and anti persperants deodorants was 3, like 5 hair cream, everything seized was worth almost 15K. (I eventually found out, I wasn't meant to check in those kinda stuffs) Guys please learn from me. Don't check in with those sorta stuffs, they should be included inside your boxes. Begged and begged this woman, she no gree, gave me the option of taking it back to my fam outside, family wey don begin dey go house, or trashing it there( which kine mumu trash? Na them go use am, BASTARDDDSSS) I eventually found out na money she dey find, but unfortunately, I didn't have cash with me. Gave out all my naira. Dem no born me well give am $100 notes cause na only wetin I carry be that.

Eventually I was the 2nd to the last person to board on the plane. Almost missed the flight. Was running like a FOOL! Immediately I boarded, wasn't up to 8mins, we took off . ENROUTE >>>>>>>ADDIS ABABA (5hours 20mins)

Food was terrible, met Nigerians that were leaving the country. Addis Ababa Airport is really beautiful, see difference between Naija Airport and Ethiopian Airport nau. Everything orderly and arranged.
Didn't stay at the Airport for up to 40mins. Got into my next flight to Toronto, longest journey of my life (16hours 20mins)!

Guys my ass became numb! embarassed Thank God it was a night flight, I just kept sleeping and watching movies on my phone. Couldn't watch their movies cause the earphone they gave me was trashy. Almost couldn't hear anything with it. With the whole noise from the aircraft. Though they had good collections of movies.

Fast forward >>>>> We landed Toronto Airport, the airport is a beauty! Jesus! Beauty at it's peak. Everything was too organised. I kept asking God who did this to Naija? Cause it's just not fair! Was going with the crowd, omo guys follow who know Road, and keep asking questions. Everybody in Canada is always happy to help in anyway they can.

I went straight to the Immigration Officers, I was fortunate, I didn't spend up to 15mins on the queue before it got filled up and crowded.

There was this stand where one Immigration Officer was loud and asking this Naija guy plenty of questions! In my mind I was like, God please don't let me go to this same guy! Pleaseeeeeee! Naso e reach my turn for Immigration, ghen ghen! Na that same man them post me go! Quickly told my siblings on WhatsApp to pray for me to pass this Immigration checks, they told me only my mama prayers should sort that out for me. And,

Guys guess what? This Man asked me for just my PASSPORT!!! That was all! And asked me how long I'd be studying and who my sponsor was, and where my school is. I didn't spend up to 45 seconds with him. And he printed my permit. Like I was like really? How? Covid-19 Test? Introduction Letter? Acceptance Letter? Proof of Fund? ArriveCan? Tuition Receipts? Vaccination Card? Everything wey i print out? Baba ask me something at least nah... grin Nothing! Only my Passport! Is God not wonderful? Loll.. He is for sure!

Proceeded to my next flight to Vancouver (Air Canada) The queue was terribly long. Was on queue for almost 50mins. After checks, I begin run again, normal level. I was like the second to the last person to board. Immediately, we left. Another 5hours flight! God I was tired of flying! This journey ain't for the weak. I angrily forced myself to sleep. And kept seeing the series on my phone.

Finally, we arrived Vancouver! But unfortunately, my bags weren't complete. My bags were missing, they tracked it, and saw its still at Toronto, it didn't come in with the flight. Air Canada fall my hands for that one. Was disappointed. My apartment to the Airport is almost an hour drive. They offered to deliver it to me anyway, make i still dey observe them.

Guys I stepped out of the Airport in Vancouver, and the COLD that hit me, blood of Jesus Christ! I never believed it! It was just 12° ohh!! And to think Vancouver has the best weather in Canada? Haaaaa!

Na why people full here and it's extremely expensive. Guys make person no lie give you, Canada is extremely COLD!!!!!!
Thank God for my cousin who came to pick me up at the Airport.

It's 5:55am as I type this, and we're on 4°c, so prepare yourself please, and come with your winter jacket socks, head warmer and hand gloves, yes even if our own for Naija na rubbish, carry am come like that, e dey useful! Thanks to my sister and a friend in Vancouver that forced me to buy it.

So in a nutshell, I thank God for a safe trip into Canada. When I sit and reminisce on it, omo! This Canada isn't for the weak! I thank God for this platform (Nairaland), y'all are a blessing, also met good people that have turned friends through Nairaland.! A bigger chunk of thanks goes to my FAMILY. Without them, I wouldn't be here. Mehn, y'all are the real MVP!

The whole journey wouldn't have started at the first place.
Those delayed, please don't relent, please, it's definitely gonna be worth it in the end, those waiting for an update on their app, please keep praying and keep being optimistic, God would definitely perfect your application.

Guys story don finish, make i go back to sleep. I had to do this, make una no think say I don run, which I can't. grin

It has ended in praise for me. I hope it does same to each and everyone here.

Thank you. cool
