You are right, except that Egypt uses very advance 4++generation jets especially the Rafale. The Rafale is France's most advance fighter, and only undisputedly trounced by the F-22 [and may be the Su-57, when it enters full service].

South Africa has very decent, 4th-generation Gripens. Algeria too has 4th-generation Su-30 MKA and upgraded MiG 29s.

Egypt, South Africa and Algeria are generally in another league on the African continent.

ISIS could not bring down KI 35s or kill the pilots but they rendered the choppers inoperative. The solution is in tactics and using star off weapons not armouring cock pits. Besides SU 25s are old tech and very expensive to upgrade....still they are not cost effective

nigerians underrate those alpha jets alot because its not shinny and big....
