Travel / Re: A Man Wants Me To Move To Norway. by Obioma993: 8:19pm On Jan 31, 2021
My dear thank God u didn't go there with that man
I know a lady who travelled to the states to live with a man she met here on SM, I advise her not to go but even if she decides to go let her boyfriend come to Nigeria, get married to her here before she leaves so as to guarantee her citizenship but she refused and thought I didn't want her progress
Long story short, this white man almost killed her, he was controlling infact he was a lunatic, she wasn't allowed to communicate with her family here, she couldn't go out and he beats her up including threatening to kill her and kill himself if she leaves him......
The God that helped my friend was a guy who was interested in her that she met in her church over there, the man almost killed her cos he shot her and shot himself but she survived......
They're lots of psychopaths in abroad, people who are depressed and they won't hesitate to take ur life with them especially when they know u are an immigrant so u have no where to run to and in those countries because of racism law enforcement agencies won't Believe u even if u report a case of domestic violence.....
God just saved ur Life
If u want to go abroad be patient, work hard and save enough money then japa

I’ve decided not to go. And when I told him that, he said I’m childish and I don’t know what life is... thank you for advice. I’m glad I didn’t make a mistake

This is the same question I asked him
Wat has the government done with the tax we have been paying? U can't increase my tax when I haven't seen anything uve done with the ones have been paying, who does that? A government that couldn't even give out covid19 palliatives to hungry citizens instead they used it as birthday gifts yet u are saying they should increase our tax? Like it seems he's in support of this politicians or Maybe hes benefiting from their corrupt ways, is so obvious

Tell1234:

you still don't get my point Sir. my question is, the one they have been collecting all this years has it been effectively and judiously used? our Government or those running the affairs of this country are so greedy and have no conscience at all.

Thank u
U just said my mind.....
If u see African countries dats mix with white dey are doing better than African countries dats just dominated by blacks the question is why? Maybe this is a discussion for another day because I want to Know why.....
Just look at countries like south Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Botswana etc dey r doing way better Dan Nigeria and I ask myself why?
May God have mercy on us all

Aconomist:
Stop making ex[sub][/sub]cuses. The white man didn't force force our people to fail to develop 24/7 electricity. The white man didn't force fulani herdsman to loot and murder farmers. The white man didn't make our tax to GDP 6% compared to 15% in GHANA.

Most of Africa would be better off under white rule

There's nothing to understand from ur comments, is obvious u think the black race is behind because of the white men but I disagree because the little issues we are facing here in Nigeria is just because of greedy n wicked politicians who embezzle public funds for their selfish interest, it has nothing to do with the white men

Is the white man supposed to be my friend? I don't give a shit about the white man so I don't expect them to care or love me ok.....
Our politicians are all black men so why will I want a white man to care about me? Or come here and make things beta for us? The earlier y'all realize that the white man owes u nothing the beta for us cos the only people who owe us their service is our politicians and is time for us to focus on them and leave the white man alone....

Lmao apologize Wat will apology do at the moment? So if the white men apologize u think it will make our politicians do beta? Lemme tell u something people who think like u fail to realize, if u don't value ur race how do u expect other race to value ur people? We Africans don't even love or value our lives so wat do u expect from other race? Black politicians are full of greed, dey prefer to see us suffer while they enrich their pockets.....u can't go about blaming the white man forever okay besides these European countries also went through colonization, America was colonized even Great britian was also colonized by the Saxons so if u like continue to blame the Europeans till the end of times

Ifeoluwav:

You don't get it yet, read my posts again.

Do you think the people that shipped themselves to Australia killed the natives took over their land, shipped themselves to North America did the same, shipped them selves to South America did similar, shipped them selves to South Africa did similar, came to Africa enslaved African Ancestors to build for them, came back later to colonize the same Africans, joined tribes together so that they will keep fighting each other. Did they get any retribution for all these? Did they apologize? ask yourselve how where they able to do all these?
Do you think they have repented or they are still cooking up something cunningly??

Now look at police brutality around the globe it is against which race? Have there been justice so far? Why is it so difficult to end police brutality around the globe when it is about human life? It is the same struggle for black people everywhere.
Africans don't get they are also facing the effect of racism around the globe because they live in countries mostly dominated by black people.
If you don't get it at this point, no more explanation, do your research.

U keep emphasizing on tax which is right but u keep avoiding a question dat have been asked here by someone else, which is
The tax we have been paying all this while wat is it used for? U don't expect me to pay more tax wen I haven't seen any changes for d one's have been paying right? Like how do u expect the people to trust d govt with their hard earn money wen they can't even distribute covid19 palliatives that was meant for the innocent citizens? If u can't make use of 1k how can u make use of 50k? Nigeria politicians care only for their pockets

PhiliptheArab:

Well, such protests fail because when politicans are dependeing on oil money (and before cocoa, cotton, groundnut, beninseed, oil palm, etc money)..and not on direct taxes, it becomes more of how the money is shared rather than how the money is used.

The ENDSARS protest failed for the same reason the first coup failed and the same reason occupy Nigria failed....Nigeria's leadership does not rely on thetaxes its people pay. Even the attempt to raise taxes is more often due to falling revenues from our raw materails, not the need to build a taxable dependent income. The minute oil prices go up....

And because ecnomic developmennt is seen as how we share money , national prtests to reform stuff end up being divided along tribal and reliigous lines as one side sees their share of the 'cake' under threat. (It's what provoked the civl war, the divisions and dissesions in the first republic.)

Also, how many people really protested. The protest was mainly a cities things, and most cities like MKakurdi had a protest for one day, and everyone went home.

Is unfortunate dat we still av people like u, people who will never face reality, people who will always make excuses for this wicked and heartless politicians.....
For u to say African leaders are being manipulated by white people just show how dat people like u who claim to be woke think Africans are puppet and we will never be anything without the help of the white man......
Lemme ask u some questions
The covid19 palliatives that were stored in a warehouse for months while people were dying of hunger, who do u blame for dat? The white man right? Am sure in ur delusional mind d white man was d one that manipulated our politicians to keep the palliatives for themselves and use it as birthday gifts.....
Wat abt ASUU going on strike for 8months? D white man is to blame right? They're the ones that also manipulated d govt to abandon education right?
Wat about the SARS n police brutality? The white man are the ones that manipulated our law enforcement agencies to go abt killing innocent citizens, raping women, stealing from youths etc
Wat abt the way our politicians embezzle public funds for their own selfish benefits? The white man is also to be blamed cos to u, u may feel like the white man keep manipulating them to steal and abandon innocent citizens to die in poverty....
Africa needs to wake up and begin to hold these politicians accountable for all this crap, d more u try to blame d white man d more u give these politicians leverage to misbehave n treat is like trash however all those books u keep reading most of the writers haven't even been to Africa so dey keep writing rubbish to fool y'all so dat these politicians will keep manipulating y'all.....
I weep for my country because is obvious people like u will always make these politicians feel they can't be held accountable for their corrupt ways

Good you found out, let's hope they find out soon. Imagine if we all find out the facts it will speed up things for the better before things get worse than it is already.

Like they've said before expect less ok don't go there thinking u will become rich is a year time instead go there with the mind dat it won't be easy but u will be ready to work ur ass off......I Know 3 person's who travelled to Dubai with d mind to hustle but after a year one of them came back to naija say the stress n struggle was too much 4 him n to think the sun over there is too hot meanwhile he came back here with nothing n started doing dis labourer work 4 penny
The other two stayed back, dey didn't give up n after two years of struggling they're doing fine now but d one dats lazy n lack patience is suffering right now over here, he's even frustrated begging those two for money anytime he gets d chance.....
Note dat Dubai is not a country for lazy people, if u know u are lazy and u lack patience Don't bother to go there because if u lack patience u will end up being a prostitute over there, a cheap prostitute so u need patience, consistency n hardwork....
Remember even here in Nigeria u still av to struggle especially if u av no money or connections, if u decide to open a business there's a 50% chance dat d business will fail besides being a business woman u require lots of sense and ambition so if u know u aren't the business kinda gal don't waste ur money on any business instead work more n add to ur savings dats if u no longer interested in going to Dubai, wen u have saved more u migrate go to another country

It sounds really suspect. Even if it's real, what kind of life are you even chasing there?

Try getting a student visa. Many good European countries will give you a free education. Train in just about anything medical. Work there for a couple years and visit different countries to see where you want to be.

Spark2:
Good morning everyone.
I am in a relationship with this young girl who is six years younger than I am. I intend to marry her In the next four years.
I'd like to give a little about the relationship for clarity purpose.

I am a 24 years old graduate (BSc) and completed my NYSC last year November. Even though my parents are financially doing ok, I stayed back in my state of service trying to establish myself and find something to do because I love to be independent and think well for myself. In fact my girlfriend loves me for that single attribute.

Until this pandemic, I was doing some little job (teaching) while seeking the greener grounds. I had to return home to my parents in my state (also her state of origin and residence) because of the COVID-19. The pandemic has really affected my hustle.

Even though we don't stay in the same location, we have a house in her own area but we only go there when need arises.

I promised her that I will come visit but each time I try, it fails due to one thing or the other. The Lockdown in my state made things worst. The road is opened only at weekends (Friday through to Sunday). I have made several attempts but it failed.

Last weekend, I scheduled to go down to where she is (it was all set 100%) but before the weekend, she told me that she is in town, a little closer to where I stay to look after one of her sick uncles. I asked how she passed the security personnel on the road she said they lied to them that she is sick and are going to a big hospital.

When it was time for me to honor my words of going down to her I asked her where actually she is and she told me that she is back home so I can come over . I sensed that she was lying to me so I asked why she had to lie to me about that. And she said she wanted me to feel the pain of turning someone as I was doing to her. I apologized because I am quick in saying I am sorry.

I still insisted on the lie she told me and I pleaded that she should be more straightforward to me because sometimes she doesn't talk straightforward and she'd later come and say she was joking. it caused a big problem for us. In fact I reminded her that I have never lied to her for once. She was angry and never wanted to even hear sorry. I left her for the night. The next day I called her again and we talked normal but with reservations.

Yesterday we got talking and she told me this and I quote..." I can take anything from you now but if I change my mind, it will be difficult" I asked why she said that and she insisted that she doesn't say things anyhow.

Please note that I have been the only one saying the I'm sorry.
No apologies from her.

I do not want to make mistake about my marriage. This girl seem unforgiving. And my own heart is a simple one I say sorry even when I'm not at fault.

Your advice is needed pls.
Thanks in advance.
Romance / Re: I Finally Broke Up With Her (pictures) by Obioma993: 3:00pm On May 18, 2020
As a lady lemme just be honest with u, she loves u but she will always cheat on u with reasons best known to her so just walk away from the relationship n I saw some comments about y women are alway expected to forgive wen a man cheats on them, forgiving someone dat hurts u emotional or physically is a tin of "choice" nobody force u to forgive n still be in the relationship, people may advise u to stay but is still left for u to decide whether to leave or stay so y'all ladies should stop with this whole narrative. No one will force u to stay with a cheating man or woman, is ur choice so nothing like y society expests women to do dis or dat
Arrogantbro:
I never wanted to believe my now ex girlfriend was a cheat even after receiving numerous advice from nairalanders here sometime ago in my other thread. I allowed the relationship to continued until yesterday due to the love I had for her.
Yesterday, her younger sister broke the news to me that her sister is cheating on me with a guy from her state. Before this happened, I have been seeing the red flags. Few days ago on my birthday, she posted my picture on whatsapp with the caption "friends become bestie". I was startled because I never knew I was my girlfriend's bestie. Damn, some girls are evil hearted. Secondly, she deleted the birthday post before 5pm, another red flag.
I have nothing to do with her anymore, I have officially broke up with her. I'm a free man now. Relationship is overrated, no Naija girl deserves to be trusted

Hmmm the Truth is dat ur wife will ruin ur life n send u back to Nigeria penny less because dat was her mission before leaving Nigeria n don't think she's making empty threats cos she isn't, d best tin to do is to install cameras in ur house without her knowledge so dat u can use it against her in court n don't bother to listen to any one telling u to apologise or try to work on ur marriage bcoz u will just be wasting ur time, ur wife has no interest in working on ur marriage, she's tired of u but she had to pretend so dat u can take her out of Nigeria B4 bringing out her true colors. Have seen women like ur wife, dey end up destroying d man's life so use ur head n find a way to run from dat woman cos if u don't u will be sorry later in d future
LinLinGentle:
Disclaimer: I'M NOT HERE TO TELL YOU THAT I AM A SAINT AND MY WIFE IS THE DEVIL. I HAVE UNFORTUNATELY JUST BEEN UNFORTUNATE TO BECOME A VICTIM OF MATRIARCHY WHICH MANY WOMEN TEND TO PRACTICE WHEN THEY MOVE ABROAD...

I have been hustling abroad for a few years while wifey was working in Nigeria and living with children. Marriage has always been turbulent and we even almost got divorced after I travelled out. We somehow worked on our issues with the help of pastors, family and friends, and after a few years of ''roughing'' it abroad to pave way for them, I finally succeeded and my family arrived a few months ago.

I used to be hot tempered, but I have had enough time to gain insight into my inadequacies and reflect on them. I am now significantly calmer due to the determination to make my marriage better and as per ''abroad levels''. My wife on the other hand is fully taking advantage of me and the environment we find ourselves in. First thing she did on getting here was to cut of my entire family. She said she doesn't want to have anything to do with any of them anymore. She has also not been too keen to kickstart her career, as all she does is endless picture taking and editing for social media hyping. I know this might be due to the initial ''euphoria'' phase cos she is coming abroad to a big house, big car and having no limits on most things we used to manage back in Nigeria, and she thinks things are bread and butter. You would never think for a second that she is a married woman if you check her profiles on social media!

She has become even more toxic person than she ever was in Naija. Now very bossy, never backs down, always the attacker, ever ready for a fight, lazier, always on social media, communicates with me as little as possible, embarrasses me in the neighbourhood with the constant noises from our house, and finally her threats have now tripled! Madam is now so fierce that I have become the house chicken. Just within a few months of being here o! She tells me that she will show me for all the ''gra gra'' I used to do back in Nigeria. Friends advised me against bringing this woman here but I no wan hear word as per responsible family man wey I dey claim to be.

The popular threat is usually ''I will end your career''. I wasn't taking this too seriously initially, but she then started following through with the threats by constant calls to the police and other services, making spooky and baseless career ending accusations and allegations against me.

I have never been the one to first lay my hands on her, but I have spilled drinks on her before when she attacked me. My wife now gets very physical without having any element of self control, fear or restraint after the simplest argument and sometimes, she damages things out of anger. She does this so often and never hesitates to dare me to do my worst.

I discovered that she has signed up on dating sites and when I even caught her chatting about sex to a particular guy in our area, she said that it was all my fault. She did not apologise for this. She even referred to it one time after an argument that if I am convulsing like this over just a sex chat, she's waiting to see what I'd do when I see a man on top of her.

My productivity at work has declined significantly and I am now on the verge of depression. Neighbours called the police on us one time after a lot of noise from out house. She accused me of domestic violence. The police had to separate us and I was stuck at home for an extended period and could not go to work due to this. I am now being investigated for domestic violence, which is a serious crime as madam wants it and I have had to report the situation to my company! The whole thing is so messy that I am scared that I have not seen the worst yet.

I am so afraid of losing it all and returning to Nigeria broke cos I spent my last card and even racked credit card debt to bring them here hoping to pay off gradually. I still have a few years to get my citizenship and if I lose my job now, that is the end for all of us!

For now, I don't know what is going to happen to us, as this woman is so determined to cause great and irreparable damage that could ruin our lives, just to get back at me and she is being cheered on by her family and friends.

THE SITUATION IS SO MESSED UP!

U are talking as if u aren't living in dis world, haven't u seen situations were people behave so wild n mean for no reason? Am a lady n av seen women who maltreats their husband for no reason. We all know dat no marriage is perfect, it only takes the fear of God for couples to be able to overcome any form of misunderstanding, just the way some men treats their wives as trash some women also do the same thing however if u really read d poster replies u will notice dat his wife doesn't even care about the welfare of their kids which is pure wickedness so pls u sud know dat women also abuse their husband, is a two way tin
Eberechiru:

For your information am a guy and the other day I saw a post where a man beat up his wife and decided to post it online saying she can call the police you can imagine the height of insolence.

Just because in Africa it’s the norm to treat women as trash and if she speaks out they’ll say she being rude. His talking about the woman he married for Christ sake he must have seen something in her that he like its not like she proposed to him, he proposed to her and why would she in just month act up in such a horrible way... And as usual we are saying it’s all the woman’s fault typical black stupid mentality......

Now a relative is out to help me with 1million naira.
I want to travel to any good country, if possible study or learn a skill outside with the money ( I have modern interior decoration design in mind)
Old and wise nairaland family please advice me on what and where to go with 1million naira.

There's this guy I met in school and there has been this connection between us. We have gradually become friends. I find myself staring at him most of the time and when he tries to catch me, I hide my face. I have also observed that he stares at me a lot too and smiles and then says hey to me.

We had a small talk in school too. I didn't know he stayed in campus too so one night when I was going out to read, I saw him, like I couldn't believe it because I thought I was not going to see him again after they declared the two weeks strike, till it was called off. So I was really shocked and happy when I saw him. Then he hugged me and I hugged him too and held him tight.

So he then asked if this was my room and I told him yes. He told me he just escorted his friend that just finished cooking for him. I felt bad hearing that because I felt they had something more. So he then asked me which church I'd be attending the following day, I told him and he said okay and told me good night. He didnt even ask for my phone number. I wonder why he didnt.

The other day he just saw me and didn't talk to me and i felt bad for that. So after that day I saw him and he was just busy staring at me and smiling and I wasn't really in the mood for that but I still stared back. He then told me hey and passed. He was with his friend and I greeted him too and passed.

So the last day I saw him, I was coming back from church and was hoping I'd see him again one last time before I travelled. Lo and behold, I saw him coming towards me with some of his friends. He then hugged me and we had a small chat. I was still hoping that he'd collect my number, still he didnt..

I dont know if he wants to have something with me or not since he's yet to ask for my number..

Please guys I need your thought on this cuz I really want to go into a relationship with him..
I want to know if he likes me or bidding his time or just playing around.

Thanks.

Although my dad was able to take care of 10 children while working there without being a citizen, we are graduates, I schooled in China n most of my siblings schooled in Canada n d rest in private Universities here but being a citizen isn't easy oooo so just be ready for dat
I'm 28 and I graduated from a Federal University in 2016, I finished my NYSC April 2018 and I got a job around September 2018, I have been working with a respectable FMCG company in the country and I just got increment and promotion around December 2019 which I am been paid about 100k which I feel finally I can start saving hard because my work place to my home ain't too far, it's trekkable and am not a big spender.

Please, my question is... I have passion to travel out of the country to UK and to stay there and probably have a family over there. I currently have a spouse who is still doing her NYSC but would finish her service year before this year runs out and she aspire to go and study in UK and she's most likely going to stay after unlike me, she has family over there.

What do you think I can do to travel abroad (UK) legally and will make my stay a big success. I am open to any idea, be it schooling or any other means, I graduated with 2.67cgpa in B.Sc. Microbiology. Thank you all in advance for your prompt reply and advice.
