The beautiful Kenyan couple that spent only KSh 100 ($1, N500) for their wedding finally had a dream, lavish ceremony yesterday February14, Valentines Day at the Eden Bliss Gardens in Kiambu County.

Here are photos of the moment the couple, 24 year old Ann Muhonja and husband, 27 year old Wilson Muturab became overcome with emotion during the wedding and broke down at the altar.

News of their simple wedding last month which had the couple in t-shirts and 2 steel circles as rings -had gone viral on social media last month and many Kenyans surprised the couple with gifts and
packages to celebrate their simple and beautiful union.

The down to earth bride and her husband are now set to go to Dubai for a trip.

Controversial Ghanaian counselor George Lutterodt has asked pastors to distribute condoms to the youth in their churches on Valentine's Day instead of organising evening programs in an attempt to prevent the congregation from celebrating the day in the manner they want.



It appears the aim of celebrating Valentine's Day has been shifted from showing love to acts of promiscuity.

The development has led to churches holding programs in the evening to engage congregants series of activities including exchange of gifts, choreography and poetry recital.

But Counselor Lutterodt believes church activities can never prevent the current generation from
having sex on Valentine's Day.

Speaking to GhanaWeb, Counselor Lutterodt said the church should advise members on why to abstain from sex and distribute condoms to those who cannot abstain so they can have safe sex.

"Valentine is meant for some category of people and not everybody. Some churches have got it wrong. They think organising a program on Val’s Day can keep these popcorn boys from doing whatever they want to so. It's a shame. Because the boys will do whatever they are supposed to do after 10 o’clock. The best is to share condoms for them," he noted.

Asked if that is not a way of fueling fornication, the Reverend replied in the negative.

This week ‘African Voices’ meets one of Nigeria’s biggest stars, Tiwa Savage, whose vocal talents have taken her from humble roots in a church choir to singing in Los Angeles with some of the industry’s biggest stars.

The programme reports from Lagos, where ‘African Voices’ discovers what made Savage return to Nigeria and build her career at home.

‘African Voices’ learns that finding success at home was an uphill climb, as Savage explains:
“When I first moved to Nigeria, I got a lot of people discouraging me about being a female artist, and a lot of people didn't want to invest money or time because they didn't think I was lucrative…. Female artists are huge in other parts of the world. It shouldn't be different in Africa."
Savage’s musical career began at 16 years old, when she was singing backing vocals for the late pop star George Michael.

‘African Voices’ learns that this not only allowed Savage to move to Los Angeles in the United States, but also collaborate with other notable musicians such as Akon, Kat Deluna and Fantasia.

Savage explains to the programme what made her decide to return to Lagos:
“I worked with a lot of people, and they would be interested by my name… ‘Where’s that from?’ I’d say it’s Nigerian, West African, and they’d say, ‘You’re African?’ and fascinated that I was straight from the Motherland… This was a lightbulb moment. These people were interested in Africa, and here I was running from it.”

Having now returned to Nigeria as a recognised star, Savage explains how life in Lagos has changed since leaving at a young age:

“It's overwhelming, as well. My family is from here… It's a great feeling, but sometimes you really just want to run, get something and go back home.”

‘African Voices’ accompanies Savage to several personal landmarks around the city, including Maven Studios, where she is currently recording, as well as the City Mission Methodist Church, where Savage had her first audition as a singer.

Reflecting on what she has learnt on her journey and the decision to build a career in Nigeria, Savage tells ‘African Voices’ what advice she would give her past self:
“Believe in Africa. Believe in yourself, and believe in Africa.”

Toke Makinwa has shown no signs of stopping her 'On Becoming' book sales/ African international tour despite her estranged husband Maje Ayida's threat to sue.

After her book reading and signing in Ghana, which went hitch-free with Ghanaian celebrities - Jackie Appiah, Ama Abebrese, Victoria Lebene, Ahuofe Patri, Vanessa Gyan - in attendance, Toke Makinwa now has Kenya as her next stop in the African International Tour.

A Nigerian family has cried out after their daughter, Mrs. Oluwashola Gaska (nee Adefolalu) mysteriously died and was cremated by her husband, Mr. Jakub Gaska, without their consent.

According to the deceased’s elder sister at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Mrs. Abimbola Essien-Nelson, Oluwashola was murdered and her corpse hastily cremated to cover it despite the family’s objection.

The family has petitioned the Federal Government to unravel the mystery surrounding her death and cremation.

In the petition, dated January 29, 2017, and titled, ‘Petition against Mr. Jakub Gaska for the murder, unlawful cremation and burial of Oluwashola Atunrayo Gaska (nee Adefolalu) in Krakow, Poland, on December 28, 2016,’ the family detailed how the late Oluwashola, who studied in Poland, settled in the country and later married Gaska in 2010.

The petition read in part,
“The last verbal conversation I had with the deceased took place on December 24, 2016, and she made no complaint about her health. At about 11.28am, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, I received a telephone call from the husband that ‘there had been an accident, Shola had fallen unconscious and had died.’

“The husband did not tell me the nature of the so called accident. I was still conversing with the husband when the telephone was disconnected.
“The husband later called me back on the same day, stating that Oluwashola fell ill on Tuesday, and that he and his sister took her to the a hospital (the name of the hospital was not provided). He said she passed away at about 3am on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.”
The petition added that plans were being made to travel to Krakow to give the deceased a befitting burial when her husband informed them that her remains would be cremated as he and Olwashola agreed during a discussion.


It was gathered that the family requested that the husband wait until the arrival of family members in January 2017 to partake in the funeral rites.
“We also made it clear to him that because of the sudden nature of her death, we want to see her corpse. We sent several sets of representatives from the Nigerian community to him in this regard, but he refused to allow anyone access to the corpse. His response was that Oluwashola said only Abmibola and no other person, should see her corpse,” the petition read.

Gaska reportedly cremated Oluwashola’s remains on January 2, 2017. He also allegedly interred the ashes on January 7, 2017, without officially informing the Adefolalus.

Essien Nelson recalled that the husband’s final words on the heated issue regarding the cremation was that :”The cremation will proceed as planned and there is nothing anyone can do about it”

On how the couple met, Essien said:
In 2000, Shola travelled to Poland to study Architecture,after graduating and working for some years the deceased informed the family that she had met and intended to marry Jakub Gaska and settle down in Poland”

“As an African family, the expectation of the family was that the potential husband would formally visit Nigeria to comply with Yoruba native laws and customs in respect to the traditional marriage rights but this did not happen”

“Reluctantly and for the happiness of the deceased, the family sent a representative to Poland for the church wedding and I was the representative of the family with the wedding taking place on the 15th of August,2010”

“The matrimonial home was at Ui.Owiecimska 33,32-551,Wygielzow,GMINA Babice District,Chrzanow County ,Lesser Poland, a suburb of Krakow where the deceased lived a communal life style as had to share the home with her mother –in- law”

“In her life time, the deceased taught English language as a foreign language. Shola also owned a photography business and made reasonable income with which she maintained the matrimonial home “

“The husband was in and out of employment between 2010 and 2016 as his highest educational qualifications was high school certificate, though his last employer was the IKEA Store in Krakow,Poland”

“I constantly received reports that the deceased had constant frictions in the marriage due to the over bearing influence and meddling stance of her mother-in-law and as a matter of fact my sister had informed me of their plans to relocate to a separate house for the privacy of herself and her husband as there was no privacy whatsoever in the matrimonial home.”

The Senate President, Speaker, House of Representatives, President, Republic of Poland, among others, were also copied in the petition.

A husband from Zambia found a pair of used condoms in his wife’s handbag and decided to punish his unfaithful wife by rubbing hot chilli on his wife’s underwear.

Narrating her ordeal in a fully-packed court, Nellie Simambo, 30, of Matero Township in Lusaka tearfully recounted how the incident resulted in the swelling of her private parts.

She said her husband was always suspecting her of having extramarital affairs which led him to rubbing chilli into her underwear.
She added that her husband was also a violent man who beat her regularly for no apparent reason.

Nellie who has sued her husband for divorce explained that her husband recently tried to kill her in
her sleep,leaving her with a swollen neck.

She said her husband also slept with a knife in his pocket and always threatened to kill her.
“I am tired of this man and I am afraid if I continue staying with him he will kill me because he moves with a knife in his pocket,” she said.
Times of Zambia reports that in defence Smart Simambo told the court that his wife was having extra-marital affairs which were the source of the couple’s martial disputes.

He said when he found two used condoms in her handbag, he confronted her to explain how the condoms got into her bag.

Smart accused his wife of being disrespectful, insulting him in the presence of their children and sexually denying him.
“My wife has also denied me sex for the past five months and yet she has the audacity to come home with used condoms in her bag,” he said.
Magistrate Pauline Newa granted the couple divorce and ordered Smart to compensate Nellie with K8,000. Custody of the children was given to Nellie while Smart was ordered to provide K500 per month for their support.

Miss Ezinne, based in Enugu, got pregnant for her babydaddy, Twitter user @Ibrahemist last year 2016.

December last year after he cut ties with her, Ezinne called him out on Twitter warning him that he will drop dead the day he comes to claim the baby in the future after denying and running away from his responsibilities today because he has another girlfriend.

Ibraheem never contacted her and yesterday, Ezinne who has finally accepted she is going to be a single mum, proudly showed off her baby bump.
