If at all fashola is guilty, can any1 tell me which govt in Nigeria state,federal/level have achieved what dis had achieved in less dan 3yrs.Since 1960.Tinubu was a failure in 8yrs.Fashola is d only NIGERIAN since 1960 to prove to us wot good governance looks like.Acceptd he may be guilty but he has tried
Nobody is running Fashola down, but we just want people see Fashola just like every other governor in Nigeria. A typical Nigerianleader is corruption full. The only difference is that, Fashola decided to some more things in Lagos. That is all.

Point of correction, never say Fashola is the best governor ever in Lagos, because we all said the same thing, during Mobolaji Johnson's era, and later we praised Jakande's tenure for his then low-cost housing, and now Poultry-schools. He was GOD sent then. This people tried in their own capacity, but Fashola came with his own initiative and ideas.

The same is what was said about Donald Duke of Cross River state. People saw him as GOD-sent, yet he stole so much, but he left Cross River better for it. You cannot say, Donald Duke is the best ever in the history of that state. That is the greatest fallacy. The best is yet to come, because Brigadier U. J. Esuene did what even Donald Duke perhaps, may never have done, all through his 8 years. Ask people from that state, they will tell you. His legacy has even outlived him, even in death. Donald Duke, did his best, and I loved him for it. Go and see Cross River state today.

But if you don't have anything meaningful to say, then don't say nothing.

Besides, the thread helps us look critically at what he is doing. Personally, Fashola is my governor, and will remain so until, I feel other wise. I wonder why people are worshipping Fashola. Planning and being realistic about life. I am not in a position to answer for anyone that may be faced with such bribe offer but as for me I have been in difficult situations a lot of times and not once did I even contemplate it. Call me a rare breed if you like but I am not like the typical guy out there.

Time to sleep, goodnight and take care.
Life is full of planning and being realistic, but when the temptation comes, and knowing man for his insatiable nature, many will crash into it. As a poster earlier said, you can withstand this because you are comfortable. How many Nigerians, can boast of the same position you are today. Maybe, it is too high, how many can boast of 2 square meals a day, in Nigeria today?

It's our lot to do the unconventional for this nation.
We have no other country.

I think we should celebrate people like this more and more to encourage people who find themselves in such positions.
It will do us all good if we have more people doing such and have less doing the negative.

Even if it is for a 2nd term, she has done what many will most likely copy very soon.
Yes, she has done what many would not have done, except for their personal interest. She needs commendation and encouragement. It is really rare in Nigeria.

What I'm asking is "WHAT IF IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS?"
It is the unconventional that will take this nation to the promised land.

Unconventional things like:
1. Refusing to collect N1,000,000 bribe for a contract even when your salary is just about N30,000.00.
2. When we refuse the temptation to drive against the traffic in a heavy traffic jam.
3. Doing the right things even when no one is watching you
and so on ans so forth.
I am not disputing you, but these things happen on daily basis. Which civil servant in Nigeria, will not collect a bribe of N1,000,000, when the doctors needs N650,000 to operate his only child?

Can Nigerians ever stop being suspicious of everything people do?
No body is suspecting anything, but it is conventional trend in Nigeria, that things like this are for a purpose.

Councillor executes projects with own salary
National NewsFeb 13, 2010
By Emma Amaize, Warri

THE Councillor, repre-senting ward four in Uvwie local government area of Delta state, Mrs. Deborah Ogaga has executed a borehole water project, equipped with a 5.5 horsepower engine and renovated a community hall for her people with her salary.

Besides, she also repaired a failed portion on Ogaga Street, cleared blocked drainages in Urhuamarho, while five women in the area have been placed on a monthly stipend of N20, 000, as part of her service to the people that elected her into office.

Meanwhile, chairman of Burutu Local Government Area in Delta State, Frank Zuokumor says the current tension in Oporomo kingdom in the area over the purported creation of an additional kingdom and chieftaincy row is uncalled for.

Speaking when he played host to representatives of Ekogbene kingdom in his office, the council boss said he was amazed at the tension over the creation of Gbesa kingdom because to the best of his knowledge, the state government has not created another kingdom in Burutu local government. He said there was a laid down procedure for the creation of an additional kingdom.

Starting with a formal application by the intending kingdom through the local government council to the Deputy Governor’s Office, which, in turn, makes recommendation to the State Executive Council.

Commissioning the projects, weekend, the member representing Uvwie in the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata said, “I am delighted and opportune to be part of this historic programme because it is complementing the efforts of the council chairman”
“If every elected Officer can be doing this in our community, we would have been vastly developed, what she has achieved as a councilor is so great and she needs support”, he said.

On his part, chairman of the council, Mr. Peter Abugewa stated, “I am overwhelmed, many public office holders only think what they can benefit from the system but Mrs. Ogaga has keyed into the three_ point agenda of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, I want others to emulate her works, she has performed credibly well”.

Mrs. Ogaga in her address stunned those who thought the projects were financed by the council when she stated that they were solely executed by her with her salary.

Oboma1:
The Police in Kano State have apprehended a middle-aged man, Alhaji Aliyu Bashiru of Dawakin Kudu town in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area for allegedly suffocating his 37-days-old baby to death because she was born out of wedlock.
The baby, Maryam, was murdered in cold blood after the father allegedly made futile attempts to keep her with a nearby motherless babies’ home in their area.

The suspect told the Daily Sun on Monday that he took the decision to kill the baby after the motherless babies’ home declined to accept the baby for keep, adding that they had insisted on the presentation of a police report, without which they would not take the baby into their custody.

Police report on the case said the tragedy occurred in December 2009 following Maryam’s birth by one Hajia Hauawa, who put to bed out of wedlock. The report said that the suspect, who incidentally is the father of the baby, had lured the baby from the mother, only to suffocate her to death afterwards.

The suspect, who was arrested by the state Hisbah Guard, is accused of despoiling Walmursalati, aged 12, Hasiya, aged 13 and Maryam, aged 12 , all of whom he allegedly lured into his house and sexually assaulted them. The police stated that the doctor’s report on the incident is awaited.
This is another reason why people in the north needs education badly. That thing called religon there, is nothing but sorrows, tears and blood. How can one kill a 37 month old baby just becos he/she was born out of wedlock?

Segun Kehinde’s outward appearance can be deceptive. Under his genteel posture lies a criminal soul. At age 24, he and his late friend of his, Saheed Babalola have committed what could rightly described as abomination against God and His household. The two young men specialized in robbing churches and mosques.

While being paraded recently, Kehinde revealed that since 2003, he and his late friend had embraced the business of breaking into churches and mosques. Their target, he told whoever cares to listen, were generators, fans and other electrical appliances in the House of God.
Please put tribalism aside, what is really wrong with Yoruba's and crime? It is now endermic amongst them. How can one be stealing since 2003?

Callous: Man kills 37-day-old daughter , says she’s illegitimate
From Desmond Mgboh, Kano
Wednesday, February 3, 2010

After the commission of the crime, the suspect quietly took the baby and buried her in a shallow grave, not too far from the Kofar/Kudu, where the parties in the tragedy are said to be resident before going to announce that the child had passed on.
At the Bompai Police station, where the suspect is being held, he told Daily Sun that he killed his daughter because the child was illegitimate, adding that he impregnated the mother outside wedlock, an act which he described as irregular.
It was further gathered the mother of the baby, a divorcee, was not given to the antics of her boyfriend that and she immediately reported the case to the police in the area, who arrested him.

The mother of the baby, had reportedly, entered into the relationship with Bashir, after a crashed marriage with her husband, which saw her coming back home to their abode once again. Divorce rate in the state has remained disturbingly high, resulting into so many dislocations in the family system.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Baba Mohammed Azare, confirmed the incident, while parading the suspect at the Bompai police headquarters, adding that it is a case of culpable homicide which is contary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested a 60-year-old man, Alhaji Mauzu of Gadan Kaya quarters in the state for allegedly raping three minors contrary to Sections 285 and 283 of the Penal Code.

The suspect, who was arrested by the state Hisbah Guard, is accused of raping Walmursalati, aged 12, Hasiya, aged 13 and Maryam, aged 12 , all of whom he allegedly lured into his house and sexually assaulted them. The police stated that the doctor’s report on the incident is awaited.
