mikeansy:Good talk. |
EmperorOlu:My guy, you really harsh oh!. No right thinking Nigerian, will support IBB. |
russellino:The same people that caused this same situation, now wants to come back to power. |
Enjoyment1:I tire for these crisis in Jos. The solution is simple, let the government show more commitment to Jos killings, and these crisis will reduce at least. |
Shoot2Kill:Ol boy!. Where did get all these weapons from? I hope they will not find their way to Jos!. |
3 killed in fresh Jos mayhem Cover Stories Apr 7, 2010 By Taye Obateru JOS—THREE people were again killed in the Plateau State capital on Easter Monday following a fracas after an inter-denomination service organized by the Jos North Branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN. Several others were injured and are now receiving treatment in various hospitals. While a version said the three were shot dead by members of the special task force maintaining peace in the state, the task force denied this saying its members only went to the scene to disperse the crowd. Plateau women protest in Jos after a recent attack Vanguard gathered that trouble started around 5.30 p.m. after some of those who attended the service at the Rwang Pam Stadium held a procession along some streets and were stoned by some hoodlums around Nasarawa Gwom. Several other residents spoke of being attacked by the hoodlums as they returned home in Dogon Dutse and Dutse Uku areas. A female student of the University of Jos said she and her little son were almost mobbed when they ran into the hoodlums around 6.00 p.m while returning from Abuja where they celebrated the Easter. Confirming the fracas in a statement on Tuesday, Brigadier General Donald Oji, who signed for the commander of the Special Task Force, said although due approval was given for the inter-denominational service, it was on the understanding that there would be no procession outside the venue. The statement said the hoodlums hijacked the procession to cause the fresh disturbance adding that members of the task force moved in promptly to restore normalcy. It stressed that those killed were not shot by members of the task force. Meanwhile, acting Police Commissioner of the state, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba has lamented the rising wave of secret killings in the state warning that traditional rulers in whose domains such secret killings take place would be held responsible henceforth. Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the Fulani and other stakeholders held at the Gbong Gwom’s Palace on Tuesday, Aduba said investigations had revealed that some of the traditional rulers were privy to the secret killings. He said: “The Police would arrest the traditional ruler or chief where any corpse of a victim of secret killing is found because our findings revealed that some of them know about these ugly incidents.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/04/07/3-killed-in-fresh-jos-mayhem/ |
Will these killings ever end in Jos? May GOD help us!. |
Sectarian clashes in Jos kill three By Shuaibu Mohammed April 6, 2010 10:24PM Three Nigerians were killed in clashes between Christian and Muslim gangs in the central city of Jos, where hundreds have died in similar violence this year, a military spokesman said on Tuesday. A rally by the Christian Association of Nigeria briefly turned violent on Monday when members of the group fought with a Muslim mob. Police said the situation was now under control and no further violence was reported on Tuesday. "Unfortunately, in the course of the pandemonium, three persons lost their lives and some were injured," said Brigadier General Donald Oji, spokesman for the region's special task force. The military has imposed a curfew on much of Plateau State since January, when sectarian violence killed more than 400 people. After the January unrest, clashes flared again in March with attacks on the mostly Christian villages of Dogo Nahawa, Zot and Ratsat just south of Jos, in which hundreds more people were killed. Plateau State, of which Jos is the capital, lies at the crossroads of Nigeria's Muslim north and Christian south, a region known as the "Middle Belt". Fierce competition for control of fertile farmlands between Christian and animist indigenous groups and Muslim settlers from the north have repeatedly triggered unrest in the region over the past decade. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5551175-146/sectarian_clashes_in_jos_kill_three.csp |
Cross River vows to arrest masterminds behind airport incident From Anietie Akpan, Calabar THE Cross River State government has vowed to arrest the masterminds behind the recent incident at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar in which a car driven by one Anieniok Elijah Okon crashed into an Arik aircraft. Last Wednesday, a taxi driver rammed through two old gates of the Air Force base leading to the airport and crashed into an Arik plane that was about to take off with about 95 passengers onboard. A statement issued by the state government and signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Edet Okon Asim, said: "Government is however aware that last Wednesday's incident at the Calabar Airport is one of the series of grand conspiracies by detractors of government, who are obviously envious of the monumental achievements of the Liyel Imoke-led administration to make Cross River State a trailblazer in leadership and good governance among the comity of states in Nigeria." Asim said: "Government is not unmindful of the activities of such fifth columnists and is working assiduously to unmask their identities and modus operandi at the appropriate time." He assured that the security agencies were carrying out their routine investigations to unravel the circumstances that resulted in the incident. Asim enjoined the public to be "alert to the activities of saboteurs who are out to tarnish the rising profile of the state as the foremost tourist destination and emerging enterprising state in Nigeria." He said: "The government of Cross River State wishes to assure members of the public, tourists and air travellers to and from Calabar in particular of their safety and security in spite of the unfortunate slight security breach that occurred at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport last Wednesday, March 31, 2010. "Undoubtedly, Cross River State is the most serene, secure environment and would ever remain so because hospitality, peaceful disposition, warmth and good neighbourliness are the hallmarks of the people's character. "Meanwhile, government urges the management and all relevant security agencies at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport to be alert to their statutory functions and responsibilities, and ensure the smooth running of the airport to the enviable standard the government desires it to be." |
oyb:This is the level of intelligence from many blinded fools, who do not correct mistakes from those they feel are good, and continue to knock on the heads of those killing this nation. It is a shame! ![]() |
Dominoifet:Na today? |
Why want to blow up Arik?, |
Yield:Yet, given opportunity, they will kill again. |
Is it only Ribadu that can hunt corrupt officials in Nigeria? Mr. Ribadu must tell us what happened to corruption case against Jonathan's wife, before he points accusing fingers on anybody? Whoever celebrate his come back, does not like Nigeria. Meanwhile, what makes Jonathan's intention genuine? Is he not trying to use Ribadu to pave way for his campagne for 2011? This is nothing but scripts being played out here. We all know the story dear. This is the product of OBJ's meeting with Jonathan. The outcome of the meeting is becoming clearer by day. |
There is sense in what someone said here, the attacker might not have targeted these fellows; but he might have been brainwashed by some fallacious religious doctrine. This can be justified by his comment, while he was being arrested. The Americans must have seen themselves in just an unfortunate situation. |
I hope those before justice are the real killers, becos in Nigeria, anything can happen. Enough of this blood shed!. |
Please Moderator, remove this shit. Besides, those guys are not eating any rubbish there. They are conducting experiment. There is a name for what they are doing in the medical world. This is 2010, and people are educated to know what they doing. Poster, needs education here. ![]() |
Those guys are just masquerade addicts, who sometimes involve themselves in supremacy struggle amongst themselves. How does that bother you? How many visitors to the state have they reported missing, or kidnapped compared to the what is happening in other states. Please face facts and do not look for how to score cheap points. Mind you, I am not from that zone, but just schooled there. My own state, is war front now, so what are you saying!. |
How many of the miscreants are there compared to others in other states? Lets start comparing? |
marocguy:Thank God someone is confirming what I said about Calabar. I schooled there, and I have been to most part of the state capital. What is just happening here is that, since most part of Nigeria is not save, it is assumed that, Nigeria as a whole is not. Who will believe that, even though we hear little or nothing about Ebonyi, but it is getting worse than even Jos, if not for the casualty figure?. |
ud4u:Have you been to my village to see the level of security? You can even leave your wares outside and go home, without any rat tempering with it. A village where you can sleep with your three eyes closed. I mean every single word. It is a shame, that security in most part of this nation, does not exist, hence the generalisation here. |
Demdem:It is just not Calabar, by there are a few capitals, where one can stay in Nigeria (though they are not economically viable, but they are peaceful), but it does not change the fact that, there is no security in Nigeria. I had to mention this, because you where saying, every part of Nigeria is very hot, and not habitable. That is the meaning I got from your post. |
dustydee:Irrespective of restiveness in Nigeria, there are still places, where there are less security matters in Nigeria e.g. Calabar Municipality. There are less security issues there, except a pocket of robbery cases, and it exist anywhere in the world. |
Demdem:Why not address the ones that is known to be insecured. Are you from the two states mentioned? |
Fashola, what is your problem? Are you really sane, if all these allegations are true? |
selingel:This has nothing really to do with the media, even though the media was supposed to act as watch dog against bad policy and bring to government's attention, deficiency is leadership. The Nigerian government is a failure, and has always been a failure. Examples of these are just too numerous: Boko Haram existed, and government knew about their activities, yet they did nothing until souls were lost. Even after then, they knew about Kala katu, and still waited until they went on rampage, killing many. The now famous Jos crisis did not start yesterday. It existed even during the IBB era, and most especially when he created the local government that really gave the Hausa's mouth to talk. Nothing was done to nip it at the initial stage, because too much lip service were offered. Now that it has become a monster, they still do not have a solution. What a nation! (shakes head and walk away). ![]() |
Veritas09:Kidnapping biz undoubtably, the most lucrative and the fastest growing in Nigeria. |
safeact:Ebonyi state really baffles me here, becos I have had cause to follow things in that state when I was schooling around that zone. Yes, I know they even eat humans in that state, but the silent level it attained bothers me. Hardly will you hear even the media reports events about that state, but secret killings happens there. I used to regard that state, as one that was not too problematic (outside communal clashes), but for the fact that these silent killings persist, then it calls for concern. |
18 platoon:Apart from some little communal clashes, the state has not really been known for hostility, except they have skeleton in their cupboard according to NYSC DG. |
The withdrawal is long over due. We cannot allow these vibrant guys be slaughtered by these devil's agents!. My only surprise is Ebonyi!. Why Ebonyi? |
Insecurity: NYSC begins withdrawal of corps members from Plateau, Ebonyi By Our Correspondent, Published: Wednesday, 24 Mar 2010 Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig-Gen.
