“Yemi: How far, baba? You remember that yahoo boy in Malaysia we talked about? The one now contesting for House of Reps? Omo, Naija na film. Me: Omo, I saw it too. There’s even a well‑known cultist and alleged assassin who donated to a governorship aspirant in the South‑West. The guy attends high‑profile campaign events and has pictures with the aspirant all over social media.” Conversations like this have become routine in recent weeks as the 2027 election campaigns gather momentum. What used to be shocking now barely raises eyebrows. A Trend That Is No Longer New ; Just More Brazen Nigeria has always had individuals with questionable backgrounds attempting to enter politics. From independence to the present day, the political arena has attracted its fair share of controversial figures. But what we are witnessing today is unprecedented not just in scale, but in the level of public acceptance. The normalization of this trend is perhaps the most troubling part. A Look Back: When the Lines First Began to Blur Growing up in Ikeja GRA, I remember “Uncle” Bode Oyedepo, popularly known as Bode D Way. In the 1990s, he was a Lagos socialite celebrated by musicians and surrounded by wealth so extravagant that one artist even dedicated a song to him. Yet few understood the true source of his riches, especially given his association with convicted fraudsters like Ade Bendel and Fred Ajudua. His fortunes changed dramatically when he attempted to run for Senate in Oro, Kwara State. The political gamble backfired, leaving lasting damage to his finances, marriage, and public image. Another example is Morris Ibekwe, who successfully secured the political office he sought but tragically died before he could enjoy the benefits of his new position. These cases were once exceptions. Today, they feel like the blueprint. 2026: A New Wave of Political Aspirants Fast‑forward to the present. Since the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Commander‑in‑Chief, the number of individuals with controversial reputations seeking political office has surged dramatically. From Aluta in Agege, to AroWealth in the West, Cubana Chief Priest in the East, and Lawrence Olanrewaju in Oshodi , the list continues to grow. Many of these aspirants are not fringe actors; they are openly campaigning, receiving endorsements, and building followings. This raises urgent questions about the integrity of Nigeria’s political system. Where Are the Vetting Processes? What are the requirements for political office today? What vetting mechanisms do political parties actually enforce? Why do many of these aspirants seem to cluster around specific political platforms? Most importantly: What emboldened them to step forward now — without fear of scrutiny from security agencies or anti‑corruption bodies like the EFCC? The silence from institutions that should enforce accountability is deafening. What This Means for Nigeria’s Future If this trend continues unchecked, Nigeria risks entrenching a political culture where notoriety becomes an asset, not a liability. The consequences could be far‑reaching: weakened public trust in governance increased infiltration of criminal networks into political structures erosion of democratic values normalization of impunity The question is no longer whether this is happening , it is. The real question is: What happens when these individuals gain real power? Nigeria stands at a crossroads. The choices made today will shape the nation’s political landscape for decades to come. Where are the inmates, those old ladies with big b00bs? I need to ask my grandfather, how did Nigerians live before camera phones? Cos nowadays, I doubt if anything is done without being recorded People even self-service and record themselves to post online, then lie that they were hacked Y'all are sick! |

She is just seeking media attention Over 90% of Nigerians than relocated since 2022 are either into care, warehouse or other menial jobs No shame in that, as long as it pays your bills and you don't get carried away with it but seek other professional passions after COS is over |
Woke up today to the news that ILR would now be between 5 and 10 years instead of the definite 5years that it used to be. Am I worried, NO. Am I bothered? NO, Am I surprised? NO. While others took to various social media platforms to rant about the implications of this, I was not perturbed. Instead, I focus on one thing, solution. Immigrants, especially Nigerian immigrants are known for one thing abroad: moaning about more problems in an existing problem. What is the worst that would happen, Reform will take over and place a hold on ILR/British citizenship? And so, what? Then what happens? They will make people only work and earn on work visas without any advancement into citizenship. While this might seem harsh, considering most people’s plan is to gain the citizenship status then move to better careers without being tied to sponsored care jobs, move back home and only visit at will without applying for visa, apply for various grants, benefits etc. as a citizen etc. It is pertinent to know that this also accords you the opportunity to work and save, and if the reforms are deemed unfavourable, there are options to return to your home country or relocate to other countries that offer better immigration policies. Like I tell my friends, UK don cast. It seems like paradise to first time travellers that relocated during the post-covid mass emigration but people that have lived here or been travelling here in the last 15years, they will tell you, you came into the UK when it is just bloated African country with cold weather and stronger currency. The cost of living is over the roof, food so expensive, rent so pricey and salary almost stagnant. Do these new japa crew understand? Probably not, they live ‘well’ on minimum wage jobs as long as they can convert the money, send it back home and be hailed for being rich abroad. And for people rushing to take mortgage 2/3years into your arrival, have you thought deeply about it? The retirement age is just below 70years. If you take a mortgage with a 25 – 30 years repayment, how do you plan to complain the payment as a 47year old immigrant? To be continued….

How can a normal human being put their mouth down there? Something that looks like an open wound of a diabetic patient The secretion from there (if panty liners are not used) can tear an underwear, that is how acidic it is. |
This is cheating, they keep robbing Nigerians. Osimen deserves to win this ![]() |
And those are big establishments with over 500 people losing their source of income, maybe some are even breadwinners meaning the whole family would now have to lose their source of livelihood. Tinubu's planning is working, his MO is to impoverish the whole nation such as that over 80% live on less than $1/day. He can then weaponize poverty, give them rice and 2k and then buy their votes across the states and even the Federal. |

People trivializing this do not understand the safety hazards that is embedded and comparing it to DANFO drivers that do same is very foolish. Road accidents have a 50% fatality rate while air is 100% I know for sure that pilots and footballers are given unexpected and routine alcohol and drug swab tests, why has AIRPEACE or NACAA not been doing this. U see why people would prefer to fly BA for £1500 instead of airpeace for £800? If they can drink and smoke cana before flying, what is the assurance they wont take turns on air hostesses in the cockpit while the plane is on autopilot. This is why I avoid anything Nigerian, including its citizens. So many bad happenings associated with that country n its people. Oshi! |
We know, that is why the word 'Clitocurrency' has been added to the Oxford dictionary. Someone like DestinyEtiko or Iyabo Ojo cannot swear they don't launder money or phuck married men n fraud boiz for money We also know the highest the male actors can buy from acting money is Venza so where are those Nollywood guys getting money to buy LandCruiser, GLE etc? |
Pastopreneur lol So where does the money go, PJ trips, gym wears and bday present for Obi Cubana right? Koburu No matter how much we kuku shout, there would always be some sheeplees to follow him |
Unarguably the most overrated state in the country. Bad roads, flood, touts etc Yet they boast a drug baron turned President has a blueprint for the state since he was Governor. How come the so called Mega city is still in turmoil over 2decades after? RIP Funsho Williams, may your killer die in Aso Rock! |
