laivwire:Splendid. I was yet to hear anyone mention the term "drag", until you came along. I'm usually conscious while at high speeds about how much drag (and petrol consumption) I must be allowing if my windows are down to let the natural breeze serenade my face while driving. My Solution: if I'm driving alone, especially, I either use the air-conditioning and turn off intermittently while letting the fan continue to blow already cool cabin air until I'm inclined to turn back on OR I crack the windows very slightly enough to let in sufficient air to keep the cabin fresh. That way little or no drag, I believe. Mainly depends on my mood, body temperature and whether I'm prepared to make another stop very soon at the petrol station. |
radautoworks:Great! These seem like useful links to feed my curiosity with. I'll take my time and go through. Appreciate madam. |
kingreign:Hahahahaha! You too bros. I actually wasn't asking for anyone to conduct any research about the topic, but just wanted to know if it's something that has ever been debated here before or contemplated personally by anyone.. Was purely just curious. |
HeavenlyBang:This paper theory is exactly my thinking, obviously. About inconvenience, for some people there's also what may be known as 'conveniencee of the pocket.' So you never know. |
yesloaded:Ok this is from your personal experience sir. Was hoping for a more general answer based on a combination of personal observation and a little bit of personal research. Appreciate you still for the effort. Thanks. |
There's this age old debate about which driving practice is more or less fuel efficient between driving with one's windows down or using the car's air-conditioning. From most online who've weighed in on this matter, the most convincing so far seems to be to drive with the air-conditioning ON after achieving certain speeds, say over 60km/h, and to take down the windows in stop-and-go traffic. That way petrol gets saved better. Experienced drivers and car gurus in the house, what do you guys think about this? I'm always open to learning. ES300/330 As reliable as the Corolla, but bigger and more prestigious. It has an extremely, sometimes annoyingly quiet V6 3.0/3.3L engine and fuel economy mpg isn't as bad as most V6s. In fact pretty decent fuel consumption. Parts are accessible and if you're lucky to get one with an engine in almost pristine condition, maintenance would mostly require changing oils at recommended intervals and maybe suspension too. Handles well in Lagos traffic without overheating, provided it hasn't been abused. Big spacious cargo space (aka boot/trunk). And oh, did I forget to say it accelerates pretty fast too, thanks to the smooth V6. Finally, go online and you'll find that it was one of the top most reliable car in its time and still is till today. Flaws: ¶Poor handling and cornering. ¶Exhaust hangs dangerously close to the ground, but I never recommend raising suspension as it may affect an already poor traction and stability. PS. If you have more cash you could consider the 3rd Gen GS which has more performance capabilities over the ES; and if you prefer a much compact performance Lexus s/c, then the IS is what is available. Pricey too like the GS. On the SUV side, the most popular is the RX series. Others at the top of the ladder are the GX and the LX for men with deeper pockets. Of course there are more Lexus makes and models but the ones mentioned above are the common ones on Nigerian roads. |
GAZZUZZ:Noted. But by running a ground wire, do you mean a seperate wiring entirely? I'm just aiming to avoid anything that messes up the electrical system of the car or results in a negative effect. |
DMechy:Appreciate your detailed explanation. Given all checks and tests that have been done so far, I think I will start by having the rewire re-check the belt tension to make sure we aren't missing anything. Thank you. |
MY ES300 ON ITS 4TH ALTERNATOR!! PLEASE HELP!! Hello GAZZUZZ, I recently had to replace my alternator after I confirmed with my 'rewire' guy that the old one which came with the car was faulty as my battery was tested okay (still relatively new, under one year) but alternator was not charging at all. My issue is that we have had to install exactly three (3) different tokunbo alternators, but as at the 2nd count, all had low charging voltage (ranging from 12.8v to 13.0v with max load -- a/c, full headlights, radio and wipers). This increases to about 13.4v with almost no load. The current toks alternator (3rd) is slightly better, as the Ladipo supplier had to bring a Sienna VVTi spec alternator which he claims has a higher power rating compared to the previous two we'd installed so far. However, after installing we checked and only got about 13.1v/13.2v with max load, but I had read somewhere that the ideal charging voltage should be around 13.8v with max load and over 14v without. So at present the alternator light isn't coming up and it seems to work fine, but with the last testing result I am still not at ease, therefore, I'm not very confident using my a/c continuously because of the fear that the battery light may appear again, indicating an underperforming alternator. I use the a/c intermittently and anytime I am to shut down the engine I always turn OFF a/c if it was ON, and revv the car a bit @ 2,000 rpm for 10 seconds to give the battery a good charge before turning off car. Note that, they also checked the earthing (ground) system of the car and for leakages but didn't find any fault. What possible solution for this problem please? |

![]() And yet a so-called female celebrity came online to defend him alleging that people are trying to bring him down. What does that even mean? Forget whatever he must've done seven years prior, this video alone is sufficient evidence for him to be jailed to the fullest extent of the law. |

![]() Make two of dem go siddon one corner. Eedris is a hustler which is fine, but it's apparent he was begging to be part of the largess he's now criticising. As for Keyamo, just like the likes of Reuben Abati and ex-Comrade Oshiomhole, as soon as they got political appointments they changed. Keyamo shouldn't have immediately posted screenshots of 2018 conversations containing Eedris' personal phone number. He could have just highlighted the story, and only post if Eedris denies them. For a SAN he nor do well. At the end of the day Eedris Abdul Kareem will get the publicity he wants for this song, but coming at a price. |
The mechanic fixed something, and later changed something in the car. What are these somethings? Call and ask your mechanic about the things he changed, then update your original post. It will help our gurus here have a better idea about what might be going on between your car and your current mechanic. In my opinion, this car definitely needs a new doctor, who knows what he's doing, and you also need to know a bit more about your car. |
![]() Taking a front row seat. This just might be.... |
id4sho:Well, after seeing a recent thread about his connection with an MDX, I can't blame him for his stance on cars that are have proved a headache to him in the past.. Although I wouldn't think the Acura is in that class, just like the Honda. |
Thank you for your views and calls. Good morning dear people. |
![]() Any sensible celebrant or host that means well for his/her guests ought to know to make use of an independent manager, party planner or caterer, who would be given strict instructions to serve all guests regardless of how and where they are seated and whether they are wearing the 'aso-ebi' of the day or not. Why bother inviting all those people if you're going to allow your family and relatives take control of the function of serving guests when it's almost sure that they would impartially favour family and friends they easily identify at the detriment of other guests? |
Well done Gazzuzz, but still wonder why you rejected my Acura RDX 2007. Told you it was a minor issue, burst power steering hose, but you said you wouldn't be able to get the hose because it was difficult to get. I had to take it to my regular mechanic who got the parts from Oyingbo and fixed it without much ado. |
For the first time in like forever I'm seeing positive comments about Nigerian Police officers. I commend this particular officer, despite clutching his rifle, was strong enough mentally to restrain himself from using it. Even if he didn't have bullets at the time, he still could have used the butt of the gun to slam the head of his assialant to submission, and still claimed self defence. |

Unlike the Biblical days of Adam and Moses, you wouldn't really expect God to whisper into your ears and validate your choice of a partner for marriage. Instead, nowadays, I think it's more of feelings of connectedness, peace, happiness and love towards the intending partner. Finally, above all establishing real friendship is key, even over and above love. |
