If really PO AND the gang want to CREATE A NEW NIGERIA.....then someone with such a huge baggage shouldnt lead the campaign.

You cant be accusing your opponents of being corrupt while an indicted corrupt person leads your campaign. It's a stain.
If really you want change from Apc and pdp....its not supposed to be an active player in the pdp that will steer us in that direction.
What do i know

PO is a chip of the old block.....nothing significant will change
which baggage is more than Shettima? someone that foreign intelligence fingered as a sponsor of BH, who is seen as a terrorist sympathiser

I have always maintained that, many Easterners either hate Tinubu because of Lagos, or hates Lagos because of Tinubu (no apologies). The other point is, they want Obi (an easterner) in at all cost, hence they result to cursing and name-calling, seeing Tinubu as the only stumbling block, but forgets, APC & PDP are still the only 2 possible and viable parties. Obi is no saint, if truly we are sincere, and really want a change that is unbiased, void of any former or present thieves , changing the course of our political jingoism of the elites - we need someone like Sowore, but since some people are playing out a biased agenda, using the media deception to drive in their cause, the change will not happen too soon. God forbid that Obi becomes the president, these same people will be recycled into power, the old cargos who were and are part of the origin of our problems. They will start their own new strategies to sweep opposition out of hinge-sight, before we know it 4 years is gone, no structure, no meaningful headway, continued economic hardship etc. The war in Ukrain does not afford us the season to make mistake, what will follow suit next year globally is hyper inflation, hunger, and recession like never before, as a result of scarce energy, food and droughts.

You are so dumb you forget kano used to have pyramid of ground nuts for export and local consumption that immensely contributed to the gdp of Nigeria way before the oil discovery of the 60s that destroyed our diversification developmental plan. Moreover, I rather have hectares of agbado employing thousands and exporting to the outside world than a liability stadium that requires high maintainability and brings in little to no gdp comparatively.
Bros stop trying to defend Tinubu he goofed with the agbado statement where he said recruit 50m youths into the army and what will you feed them with Agbado in the morning Cassava in the afternoon.
So stop playing semantics here, if you have conscience it it was PO that made this statement, you would have roasted him online.

I am criticising his plan to librealize the forex market from the word go. It sounds nice, but the fact is, we are not earning enough forex, beofre we even talk about corruption, stealing of crude, and round tripping theft.

Plus it is going to take a while for us to be a producing nation for export...and i mean manufactured goods.

Finally, one way we can earn more forex is by removing subsides on petrol and power. Which you obidients mostly do not want (Obi wants it).
wrong sir. I really want subsidies removed because it is not helping the economy

We have a single forex rate listed by all banks and regulated forex dealers, the multiple rates is caused by non regulated forex dealers. What you are talking about is superficial. The real issue when it comes to earning foreign exchange is exporting more, period. This is the balance of payments theory, this is the bottom line, you keep importing you won't earn foreign exchange, you buy more. Obi uses technicalities and ambiguity to deceive you half learned people. These BDC operators won't flood the market with dollars, if we don't earn dollars as a nation, how will the operators get dollars to sell?

They don't print dolars, the other way is foreign receipts, foreign exchange sent in by Nigerians abroad. You can't blame anyone for the unregulated foreign exchange black market dealers, they have been there, though I agree they should be shut down, everyone knows the black market causes the multiple rates, but eliminating this won't increase the naira, it will only give us a single rate. Am talking of earning foreign exchange, you only do that through exports, or by foreign exchange sent in by Nigerians abroad. Stopping black market operators won't increase the value of the naira. You contradict yourself like Obi saying exporters will flood the market, but at the same time supporting removing importation restrictions. Obi can only deceive half baked people like you. We need importation restrictions and more exports to increase our currency value. No wonder obi got a Pass not too sound.
if you cannot be deveived why didn't your APC adopt your advice? again you just composed beautiful nonsense.

Kasssandra:
I'm going to be honest, and say that this means we would have dollars flowing out of the country...meaning at the end, the value of the naira would crash heavily.

The dollar restrictions we have, as harsh as they are...are why we are not exchanging N5000 for one dollar today...and I am not exagerrating. It may sound cool at first, but the truth is, we are not earning enough dollars to liberalise the market yet.

I know a lot of people like the idea, because we want to go back to the days when we could spend over 500 dollars in a month. But until I see a concrete plan on how we are going to earn more dollars from Obi...and no, I don't want to hear that Obi taking power in Abuja means that we would suddenly get an income of 100 bn dollars a month....and it has to be a plan that involves total removal of subsides...because that is where most of our forex goes...and heavy enforcement of taxation.ie raising our tax to gdp raito to 50% or more.......I'm afraid this plan is wishful thinking. If not a plan to cause severe forex shortage, and inflation, and the naira looking like Zim dollars....

For once, Obi is wrong.

(P.S This does not mean you or i should vote for tinubu or atiku...).
Can you swear that you have not heard Obi talk about his plan for the Economy. The conversion from consumption to production abi? Please naaa let us have conscience and stop selective disinformation.

The way to true prosperity is creating production units, manufacturing, processing of agro based products and natural resources to finished products and exporting. Importing enriches only the importer business man, clearing agent, and customs, but when you encourage investment and production, you prosper the nation and earn foreign exchange. Nigeria is worlds largest importer of champagne, rice etc, we have been importing, that is what killed our currency and economy. When we took IMF loans and had to follow their instructions on free trade and open borders, our naira started crashing. Obi is not smart enough.
Oga you are the one not smart. What is sliding the value of the naira is the multiple fx rate that has created a big market for speculators. Remove import restrictions and harmonize fx rate to a single rate and remove fx restrictions meaning that other FX BDC operators can come into the market and flood it with FX and also exporters can sell fx to banks and others at favorable rates thereby in the long run crashing the value of the dollar against Naira further strenghtening the new currency. This was what Zambia did and it strengthened the currency in two years.
Politics › Re: Peter Obi: We Will Remove Import & FOREX Restrictions by obyno82: 6:28pm On Oct 06, 2022
Kasssandra:
1.Before the two tier forex system was created in 1986/7, the naira was falling.

2.The naira is falling in value for the simple reason that we don't export enough manufactured goods...whose prices we can set...meaning we get more forex to buffer the naira. That's our problem for today (and why Obi makes sense when he talks about increasing domestic production). Instead, we export raw materials and oil...whose prices we do not control...meaning today we can earn enough forex to keep us happy, tomorrow, the price can drop to the point where our forex needs fall.

3.Either way, the two tier system has to go. Fully. It was meant to protect certain sectors from the high cost of forex in the parallel market...but it has become a nidus for corruption over the years.
I agree with your point 2 but again naira was failing then because of crash in oil prices and nigeria being import dependent to a small extent didn't devalue a bit to save the naira, then Bubu came from 1983 to 1985 and hit the economy hard coupled with the price slump for crude oil then.

Is it also beyond Anambrarians who could not wait for the disaster called Peter Obi to be eased out of their lives?

But today, Peter Obi is the Igbo candidate who must be supported by Igbos and by many Chijiokes claiming to be "Tunde" or "Haruna".

Anambrarians have warned us from the past, Nigerians must avoid this one chance as we proceed to the future.

The chief importer wants to continue in his anti-Nigerian approach to wealth creation that builds other national economies instead of building Nigeria's.
You are not smart at all. Most of the hatred against PO then was due to sentimental attachment people had for Ngige based on his ordeal with Andy and Chris Uba. It was after he survived impeachment twice and people saw salaries being paid and the state growing that PO was supported.

Typical container economy ideology.smh.

I am not surprised at all. Someone already predicted this about HE Obi because Obi needs to keep importing foreign goods for his import business and supermarkets.

Little wonder he has nothing tangible to use to campaign for his 8 years in office as Anambra governor.

For the uncouth Igbo youths defending container economy, please go and look at the export side, if you see the export side of non-oil sector of Nigeria and where they come from in Nigeria ehn, you will never consider Igbo container economy as progress and never wish Igbo continues to be a dumping ground.

Check our foreign direct investments(FDI) too( screenshots of leading fdi states for both Q1 and Q2 2022 are below) and you will not see any SE states at the top 2 so these container economy is not it at all and not progress in the absence of FDI.

While SE is taking containers, Lagos, alone takes over 70% the FDI in billions! Apart from Anambra which is still very very low due to this container economy mentality and insecurity, all other SE states attracted zero fdi so far this year

Below is jiust the agricultural sector alone, watch cocoa from the SW and Sesame from the North with Jigawa the highest producer, doing multiple times the other agric ptoducts and bringing in forex into Nigeria and not destroying the environment or bringing in toxic contents.

I completely disagree with your suggestion that container economy is what Igboland needs.

Top priority for SE, and I agree with Prof. Soludo , is responsible parenting because most parents in Igboland have abandoned their responsibility of raising disciplined, respectful, educated and Godfearing patriotic children, these children currently litter the social media space for ipob terrorist group and jails in Nigeria and all over the world, followed by peace in Igboland un order to stop the shedding of blood of innocent patriotic Nigerians then investment especially from other tribes and foreigners so Igboland can attract investments and talents from other places like the SW does excellently.

Asiwaju Tinubu alone brought in multibillion dollars investment into Lagos and his successors built on it.

Ahhh!!!!!! finally you have just shown that you don't have sense. The reason for the slide in value of the naira is the multiple exchange rates that was created for political expediency. Now if you have a single rate and abolish fx restriction which can allow for exporters to sell the FX they bring at good rates to banks and government and at the same time allow bank to source for dollars at a single rate that alone will signal the country being ripe for business and companies will establish and jobs will be created.
But alas you have advertised online real time your stupidity.

That is not the point bro what about the refineries? Even the investment in Dangote makes no sense and shows some fraud. On what basis was the amount invested in a refinery that has not refined a single barrel of oil what criteria was used to evaluate or valuate the refinery of Dangote?

It is a poor business decision and if you investigate deeply you will see there is fraudulent undercurrent behind this deal.

Retail can be a difficult business to manage and margins are not particularly high. With poor project execution discipline of Nigerian companies, I am not convinced that this is a good deal.

Why not leave retail for individuals and other companies to manage and do bigger projects that only a company with that size can do.

For eg as part of its energy transition, a 500MW solar plant with battery back up for grid stability in say Nasarawa state would be a game changer.
