Please do not take the JOB, i started with 6k after M.Sc in 2001(Teaching) in Lagos. It take extra efforts before i break out of the teaching Job. Companies use age to employ. if you do not get a good now you will find it difficult. it is better you learn how to instal solar panel or get computer skill now. Teaching job will take your energy and time. As a Physis graduate you can get job in big secondary school that can pay up to 100k per month do not settle for less. If you do you will end up writing SSCE for your student because you need money to pay rents and maintain yourself.

This is a trend in Nigeria and it gets worse now that the economy is taking a break. In as much as I sympathise with the students the government can pay salaries of people at home not to talk of abroad with all our forex complexity. This same trend was what started the Yahoo Yahoo thingy during shagaris government. My advice to students is that they go and work I know a lot of people in UK who saw themselves through school working multiple jobs in the summer, holidays breaks, and 20hrs per week. The chances of tuition payment is slim in the present economic reality the sooner you get a job the better.

But if the student were sent to agricultural college or mining college they would have had some chances in the area of employment since this opportunity exist in some little way in the northern part of Nigeria.

I also had a similar experience in school, my phone was smashed by a lecturer who just wanted to show me he had the power to do anything. I was gisting with a girl earlier on that morning and he saw me. I didn't know she had something going on with the dude. I was writing my finals then and I didn't want any issues. I agree with you. No matter what she has done, nothing gives any lecture the right to bring out his belt and flog a student. People don't realize how dehumanising that is. Its not even condoned in secondary schools, how much more a university. And why the continous victimisation after the incident? People don't know how far lecturers are willing to go to support themselves. This is the major reason why our Nigerian universities will continue to rot with so many shameful vices because lecturers deliberately frustrating students has become the norm.
