EducationRe: Nigerian Students Abroad Are On Their Own - Buhari by oc2fish: 5:38pm On Mar 07, 2016
Cont.....

I took courses in Genetics, statictis not because they are requirements but for the sake of knowledge that would be transferred to Nigerian students. I tried to master current technologies that can be transferred. See i have a fairly used car abroad that run on gas (NPV). Buhari should send people to Malaysia to study this car that uses none combustible gas (NPV).

Nigerian students in Asia are working hard to transfer technology to Nigeria. We should be encouraged.

EducationRe: Nigerian Students Abroad Are On Their Own - Buhari by oc2fish: 5:05pm On Mar 07, 2016
I am a lecturer in Nigeria currently studying Abroad. For this semester i am taking a course in Applied Animal molecular biology so that i can be exposed to DNA extraction, use of pcr machine and stuff like that. From the tetfund scholarship given to me i ordered for a pcr machines, downloaded journals from subscribe data base of my university abroad and sent to my Nigerian so called e-library. I made copies of textbooks not available in Nigeria. I made copies of important textbooks for my use and my students. In terms of technology we are lost. Please PMB we are in same page in wanting the best for Nigeria.

Do you know what it takes to train a medical Doctor. In sane society she will be charged for first degree murder. Accident is normal but getting involved in an accident because of drink is a big deal. All drunk drivers are wicked and has no regard to life. She should stop all this stunt. She still remains a murderer. I am sure that she still drink and drive.

Who told you? Most Malaysian immigration jails are underground. Small cells filled with people who would kill you in a heartbeat and an industrial Air conditioner in every cell that will give you pneumonia in mere hours. You won't even know what the sky, sun, rain looks like again...you won't even know the time or be able to keep track of days anymore and a lot of people are dying there.

Malaysian jail na hell. Not able to differentiate day from night is enough stress .

Pray it never happens to you, there is no place like home.

temitimx19:
Nigerians are really funny. When we have one of the cheapest tuition fees in the world, people are busy killing themselves just to go aboard. My question is all those that have gone aboard how did they affect our economy in anyway?? Why spend so much money, and come back to look for jobs in Nigeria. No wonder Nigerians have bad reputation aboard, when we are never satisfied with what we have back home. Why don't we as a people develop what we have in Nigeria..

Anty one that study Engineering, Agriculture or any science related course is far ahead of the PhD Nigeria counter parts.

WO! They have not seen anything yet. They better send their children back to naija to study because nobody can save them from this forex scarcity. These same children would study abroad and come back to Nigeria to intimidate the rest of us that studied here.
These parents contributed to the dropped in value of naira. They make money in naija and pump it abroad. Why dem no go suffer the fruit of their labour? This is a practical example of cause and effect tongue tongue tongue tongue grin

Some are actually people that will make sure Nigeria move forward. Some are lecturers studying hard so that they will teach undergraduates how to become employable.

What of if they are sponsored? Will the knowledge aquired reaad sponsored knowledge. I am saying we dont have academicians that can impact knowledge and you are talking about sponsorship.

lookandlaff:
I dont get your point

The people training young graduates in Nigeria are not currents with new ways of Engineering and Agriculture just for example. Some of the new lecturers are abroad studying for M.Sc and PhD. If Buhari made it impossible for them to pay fees. The country will not develop. The old lecturers are out of touch with trends in research. Now the trainers had to be trained so that a graduate enginer in Nigeria will be able to practically compete with one from China and even India. Asia is the home of Technology needed in Nigeria.
BusinessRe: CBN Bans Use Of Dollars For Overseas Fees, Medical Trips by oc2fish: 10:06am On Feb 13, 2016
It is a sorry state. Some of the lecturers in Nigerian Universities do not know the most current trend in their profession. Please tell me what they are going to teach. All Nigerian Universities do not subscribed to data base of scientific information (Scince direct, Willy online Tailor and Francis.....) just tell me where they will get information on current ways of planting crop or engineering design.

Some of the equipments and books i am using today is not in any Nigerian university lab or library. My lecturers do not know the equipment like wise the one that taught my lecture. This means two generations of illiteracy.
BusinessRe: CBN Bans Use Of Dollars For Overseas Fees, Medical Trips by oc2fish: 9:58am On Feb 13, 2016

the children of the people who are sending their children abroad for an education are not coming back home to teach...a fair number of them won't even come back. it is the children of the middle and upper classes and they dont go abroad to study to be teachers, children of the middle class no longer go into teaching. If govt is sponsoring teachers/lecturers abroad then they are not getting their forex at the black market rate.

Lecturing job in Nigeria is little above average in terms of income. As i am talking to you. In Universiti Putra Malaysia over 1000 students are studying for M.Sc and PhD. Out of this about 400 are in the field of Agriculture 300 in Engineering and others in other field. Most Nothern states sponsor atleat 100 candidates to study crop science and animal production in the university. This candidates are mostly academicians and public servants.

The atmosphere in Asia is of a total change. We see a country we are richer than enjoying good facilities and better life than us. In a few years the returniers will demand for changes. Please Buhari do not kill this new wakening.

Good move! One reason why our hospitals and schools are so bad is because those who have the influence to change things send their kids abroad or go abroad for treatments. If they are forced to use local schools and hospitals they will use their clout and put more pressure to get our local institutions fixed.

Just look at a school like Kings college, for all the highly placed people that has passed through it's walls, it's in that state because I bet you there is no KC alumni today that sends his son to KC. Everywhere else old students are a valuable source of pressure on government and keeping a school in good shape. All the billionaires, senators, chief justices that went to KC should be ashamed. They are the ones looking for forex to send their kids to secondary schools abroad. In a sane environment if you pass through an ivy league college you'd want your son to continue the tradition.

If you want to benefit other economies (by exporting our money to their hospitals and their schools) fine but source for your own forex, the govt wont subsidize you to do so.

As at now Nigeria has two set of lecturers teaching in the university with little knowledge of trends. If we do not send the young once out to study it will be the blind leading the blind. Nigerian universities are producing unemployable graduates because their teachers do not know the current trend in their chosing field.

Guy most of your lecturers are studying abroad. So that students will be taught modern day Engineering, Agriculture and Medical sciences. Do not look at schooling abroad as a luxury but a need that will lead to bringing digital information to Nigeria.

You are the illiterate. Govt removed FX demand for medical and school fees because we earn very little forex. The other option is to outrightly devalue the Naira to 280

My friend without education we are gone for (God forbid ) presently i am using an equipment that my lecturer and his lecturer do not know anything about despite the fact that the equipment is basic for my profession. I will teach the new Nigerian with the knowledge gotten from the use of the equipment and now it is becoming difficult for me to pay my fees and get my stipends.

CareerRe: Federal University Lafia is Paying Half Salary for January 2016!!! by oc2fish: 5:51pm On Feb 10, 2016
As at today Nigeria cannot afford to educates her population. The reason why we produce unemployable graduate is because we invest nothing to the training. A well trained graduates will not look for work. he will create one on made himself so saleable that work will be looking for him.

I Know a student studying M.Sc in Animal science that requires 100 cows for his work. An order was placed for this animals for the research work by the University through grant provided by his supervisor. This kind of student will never look for work. All we want in Nigeria is degree without the honors.

The current data base like Science direct and Wiley online that provides information on trends are not available in Nigerian Universities. The blind Nigerian teachers are leading the youth to analogue world. You cannot give what you do not have. We have a generation of teachers that were taught using analogue system teaching the digital world.

It is either we invest in education or made student pay for quality education. As at now the Universities are busy producing kindergarten trades men as Engineers. Not because the students are not willing to learn but because the teachers do not know the trends. It is common to see some universities teaching outdated protocols.

The church do not want you to become prayer point for them that is why they demanded for the test. Please if you love him stay with him and manage the situation if not find your way out of the marriage. An SS child is a waste (really sorry).

ajasa4link:
All the stress is not worth it. NYSC is a waste of one year, apart from you going to know other parts of the country and learning more about diverse cultures, NYSC is not rewarding at all. Imagine a 2.1 engineering graduate teaching in a secondary school for a year and fast forward to job search he is told he cant be employed because he has no experience in his field. I have a friend like that. Tho few of us were lucky to have gotten somewhere to start little, Vast majority have not been so lucky. Let them just rebrand the program or just scrap it completely.

It piss me off when you talk of graduate enginer in Nigeria. A road side technician is better trained to handle real work situation compared to a first class Nigerian Enginer.
Reason
1. I am a lecturer i can only teach you what i know.
2 I dont know current trend in engineering because i dont have money to attend seminars. My university did not subscribe to data base likè scince direct.
3. My salary is not enough for me to take care of various family issues.
4. Lecturing is just a meal tickets.

Stop the ENGINEERING nonse. As your lecturer I KNOW small .

You guys are really passing thru hell in Nigeria.

Here in Malaysia, what matters first is what you have in your head and not your certificate.

Hmmmm. Malaysia do not consider HND as a certificate but a step in getting admission into university. With Diploma one will earn exemption.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: I Was Thrown Out Over Hnd And Bsc "Wahala" by oc2fish: 10:37am On Feb 08, 2016
The fact is that you cannot equate both qualification. Some of us with ND before going to University struggle to with stand the study level of University. Infact most drop out from Plant science, Animal science at OAU and University of Ilorin after ND in Agricultural Technology. In my field Agriculture The Monotechnic/Polytechnic guy has more practical esposure but the person with Degree guy will need individual efforts to achieve such level of efficiency. As an entrepreneur i will invite boths and lets what they know speak.
PoliticsRe: What Buhari Achieved In Seven Months – Presidency by oc2fish: 8:17am On Feb 04, 2016
He made it so difficult for students studying abroad to receive stipends from parents who cannot afford to lodge huge amount of money into their account.

He allowed banks to arbitrary take stipends sent to students studying abroad. Nigerian bank charge 150 naira for every 500 naira you withdraw using master card in Àsian countries. One cannot withdraw more than 500 naira per day (ringitt)

He made it difficults for parents to send living allowances to wards through money grams. He eroded the stipends given to students on scholarships.

I really cannot believe what I am reading here and the mentality of Nigerians. FYI, I did my bachelors in Nigeria and studied further abroad. Are there any rules and regulations that says students cannot move during a lecture? Was such made available to students? He damn has the right to move to get writing materials or even leave the lecture if he so desires, and the m0ron of a lecturer has no right to ban him from the class. It is crazy to fault the young man.

Well my PhD is in Abroad. B.Sc, M.Sc U.I I am a Nigerian and will remain so. Students abroad do not disrespect their lecturers. Dont form abroad here. You disrespect one and see if you will graduate.
