Jobs/VacanciesRe: Ferrari Graduate Programme 2013 by ochallo: 2:56pm On Nov 21, 2013
kofsy: Are you sure this information is authentic? I just checked http://www.ferrari.com/english/about_ferrari/jobs_careers/Pages/international_recruitment_of_new_graduates.aspx
And the job description, requirements, and closing date are different.
I did the same thing, which i feel just a few nigerians would have the sense of doing, the job is only listed on nairaland and the one on the site is completely different. also it is pertinent to note that the ferrari logo on this job site does not link back to ferrari homepage. but a the same job site and the font used on the job site is different from the one on the homepage.
TravelRe: I Regretted The Prayers I Offered To God To Take Me To Usa by ochallo: 5:04pm On Nov 15, 2013
Why is this on front page?

Well i have to take this moment to say a word of prayer for nigeria, Nigeria it is your time to cough out all your enemies including the one who calls himself your leader and the ones with equal evil intentions parading themselves as saints from the opposition. Nigeria cough them out now!

It is well with you Nigeria.
CultureRe: Nigeria's Disappearing Languages by ochallo: 1:26pm On Nov 14, 2013
If those languages were useful, they would not disappear, while languages are disappearing, people are learning other languages. The best thing you can do for your child is to teach him fluent English without the hausa or igbo accent(base language), chinese (second best option) , french or spanish*( third best), german or korean or greek or hindi (fourth category).

But if you want them to become local government chairmen and councillors because your vision is extreemely limited , then go ahead and employ a teacher to teach them the thickest , toughest dialect of your village.

P.s
Zoque-Ayapaneco, an indigenous Mexican language is considered the most likely to become extinct, because the only two people in the world that speak it fluently, do not talk to each other!

And, it's not because they live in different countries, states or even villages - In fact, Manuel Segovia and Isidro Velazquez, both in their 70's, reside within 500 yards of each other, in the village of Ayapa in the Southern Mexican State of Tabasco. They however, refuse to converse because they simply don't have much in common. Segovia is apparently a little 'brusque' in nature whilst Velazquez is described as 'stoic'.

BusinessRe: Ex-bankers: How Is Life Outside Banking? by ochallo: 5:39am On Nov 04, 2013
One thing i learnt from working in the bank is that, despite anything, you have to know when to go all out and stress yourself and when to restrain, if you stepped out of the bank today, the bank would still function without you, even if they have to hire two people to do your work, they will. Putting your life at a standstill for a job that only pays the bills is a great risk especially if you don't even enjoy it. Presently i make 50k less than what i used to earn in the bank but my life is more meaningful and the future is clearer and brighter and in a few months, there is great hope for making 6 times what i make now, doing something that i love. This post would drive home what i am talking about.

http://www.elijahforce..com/2013/03/job-offer-questions-to-ask-yourself.html

The bottom line is , do your work and plan your life, savings and future plans and go to a place of worship, there are church services that last just 2 hours now, the bank would not plan your life for you and if the bank job goes , you would realize how empty your life has been.
BusinessRe: N800,000 Credit Alert From An Unknown Person - Please Advice by ochallo: 5:20am On Nov 03, 2013
I am alarmed at how stupid and greedy nigerians are, just like their political leaders. @ poster, that money was mistakenly posted into your account which was meant to be posted into another account, eventually someone would ask for it, a cashier made the mistake or the account number was wrong, eventually the person who has the money would go to the bank make a lot of trouble then, they would trace the account and send a message to your branch, they may never find you but someone else would have to pay for that money. It was not just created by magic, it is someone;s money and someone would eventually pay for it. If you intend to run your life on money that doesn't belong to you , then be ready for what ever comes your way.
IslamRe: Liz Anjorin ON Why She Left Christianity For Islam by ochallo: 3:35pm On Nov 01, 2013
everyday: From my personal view I think Islam is better.I like their views about homosexualism which is a bad practice while churches on the other hand wed gays openly in churches.
Muslims have managed to stay united and have one voice for centuries
Muslim countries however have the highest record of homosexual activities , just like homosexual activities is practised mostly in the north , so it still doesn't add up
EducationRe: UNILORIN Student Gets First-Class In Law by ochallo:
Tunsbobo: Smh, this just shows how dumb most ilorin law students and graduates are! No 1st class in law since d inception of the school? That's not an achievement
The only reason students are getting first class now is because now the system is well regulated and what you score is what you actually get, no saddist marks you down or multiples your result by a decreasing factor. GO figure!
PoliticsRe: Ex-PHCN Worker Spends N5.5m Gratuity On Jeep by ochallo: 5:15am On Oct 29, 2013
gbanikiti: salary is different from gratuity. Do you know how long the person saved 100k to buy the phone? huh
There is absolutely no reason why someone who earns 150k should use a 100k phone. There are other things to save for and if you have done that then you should sell the phone immediately. Not even phone, the phones sold for 100k 4 years ago, are not even worth 25 k now.

PoliticsRe: Governors To Corpers - Create Jobs For Yourselves by ochallo: 5:30pm On Oct 11, 2013
jacobs123: I cannot think of any other country where an elected official will tell youths to create jobs for themselves and still hope to be re-elected. We have irresponsible people in Government and ignorant people as their followers.

Infact Goverements are brought down or changed if they can't create jobs for their people. I doubt if Obama can tell Amercian youths to create jobs for themselves even when he knows they can and infact have been creating.
you took these words out of my mouth.

It's amazing to see my former lecturer's names in print, and i am glad ibiyemi has been able to come up with something after over 7 years that i left that hellhole of a department. Ibiyemi was almost going mad over all these projects, i am surprised though that no students name was mentioned, i am very sure some students would have definately worked on it. Of the 3 lecturers in electrical mentioned above, avazi is the only good lecturer with a human heart.

TravelRe: Should I Quit My Job For Masters In The Us? by ochallo: 5:38pm On Sep 02, 2013
After carefully studying this thread , i realized

1. Those in Nigeria are saying go
2. Those in the US,UK are saying stay/Be sure.

Truth is the op himself has not done anything to ensure that his decision is going to be a good one. He has not stated how the masters would affect his development and growth in the IT sector. He seems like he just wants to earn more and grow and feels abroad is the next thing.

Until you can say what exactly you intend to learn from the masters and how it is going to affect your life goals. You are not ready to take that leap. Like someone said here, life is not a gamble, don't gamble your life away.

FamilyAfrican Mother Marries Her Own Son. by ochallo(op): 4:51pm On Aug 30, 2013
A 40-year-old mother is set to marry her own son. The woman and her son claim to be in love with each other. And now they want to take their relationship to the next level and get married considering that the mother, Betty Mbereko (from Mwenezi in Masvingo) is now six months pregnant and expecting her son’s child and her grand child.

Mbereko, 40, has been a widow for the past 12 years and has been living with her 23-years-old son Farai Mbereko.
She confirms that she is six month pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom she says are coveting her.
Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier.
She said after spending a lot of money sending Farai to school following the death of her husband, she felt she had a right to his money and no other woman was entitled to it.
“Look, I strove alone to send my son to school and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is working and you accuse me of doing something wrong.
“Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she told the village court council.
Farai said he was more than prepared to marry his mother and would pay off the ilobola balance his father had left unpaid to his grandparents.
“I know my father died before he finished paying the bride price and I am prepared to pay it off,” he said. “It is better to publicise what is happening because people should know that I am the one who made my mother pregnant.
Otherwise they will accuse her of promiscuity.” But local headman Nathan Muputirwa says: “We cannot allow this to happen in our village, mashura chaiwo aya, (This is a bad omen indeed). In the past they would have to be killed but today we cannot do it because we are afraid of the police.”
He warned them to immediately break off their marriage or leave his village. They chose the latter and have since left the village for an undisclosed destination.
