by Temitope Onitiju Somebody just took a major swipe at the Lagos governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Akinwunmi Ambode. A cartoon has surfaced on social media depicting Ambode as an unserious individual who is mostly interested in social engagements and having a fun time. The cartoon, which had the title ‘Nigeria’s next top model’ showed the guber candidate looking animated in some of his poses for his campaign posters. It had the caption: “Serious issues demand seriousness. Do you want this ‘Jaiye Jaiye’ man a.k.a ‘social prefect’ as your next governor?” http://ynaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Ambode.jpg

Heads have started rolling as the fallout over President Robert Mugabe’s embarrasing fall at Harare International Airport on Wednesday begins. BY SILENCE CHARUMBIRA/PHILLIP CHIDAVAENZI Sources said up to 27 members of the presidential security and advance team who seemed immobilised as Mugabe tripped and tumbled after addressing hundreds of Zanu PF supporters who had been bussed to welcome him on his return from the African Union summit, have been suspended. According to the sources, the guards were handed their suspension letters on Friday. Officials at Munhumutapa government building said an investigation was launched on the night that Mugabe fell at the airport on his return from Ethiopia where he had just taken charge as the new chairperson of the African Union. But Presidential spokesperson George Charamba yesterday dismissed the reports of a shake up in President Mugabe’s security team as a fallacy. “There is only one hand that shakes up and that hand has not shaken up [anything]. What is there to shake up? The last time you heard about a shake up it was from us and not from media reports,” Charamba said. But sources insisted a shake up had indeed taken place and there were indications that some officials could be fired. At the State House on Friday afternoon where President Mugabe was meeting newly-elected Zambian leader Edgar Lungu, new faces could be seen on his security team. After the meeting that took almost five hours, Mugabe escorted Lungu outside the State House with both hands in his pockets. The two did not address journalists who had gathered. When Lungu was departing in his motorcade, Mugabe stood for a few minutes outside before walking back into his office at State House. Another official said although some people were taking the fall lightly, it was a serious matter that had to be dealt with thoroughly. “There are many departments that are being investigated, from Air Zimbabwe, the advance team and the security. I doubt if some of them will come back,” said the official close to the developments. “The issue here is simple. The security team was caught napping. They were taking things for granted and failed to adhere to basics. It is protocol that the immediate proximity is, at most, three metres from the President. These are the bullet takers and in cases where he falls they are supposed to hold him either by the arm or by the shoulder and should never take their eyes off him.” The official added: “He went on to touch the ground on all fours. That should never happen. What if someone pulled a gun? The immediate proximity team should have helped him up because those are the people that are allowed to touch him before anyone else.” Information gathered revealed that the immediate proximity team was also there to prevent members of the public getting dangerously close to the President as happened when British gay rights activist Peter Thatchell attempted a citizen’s arrest on Mugabe in 1999. He said the security failed to follow Rule Number 3 of their training manual which outlined the distance they should keep from the President. The official, however said most of the suspensions could just be decoys by the secret service chiefs who wanted to appear as if they were doing something about the embarrassing incident. NB: Nigerians must rise and prevent the attempt to turn the country, into a Laughing stock , Men Like Mugabe and Buhari should be in retirement homes, Placing a 73 year old man to lead a complex nation of over 170 million people is suicide! Just Ombatse wahala alone is enough to give him stroke Vote wisely God Bless Nigeria

Over 2000 members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Tuesday in Suleja decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Alhaji Abdullahi L. Sulieman, who was three times Suleja Council chairman, said they had to leave APC because it had no direction, adding that they were also made to swear by the Quran to abide by rules and directives from the party. ''APC is the only party that will make you swear with the Quran to abide by rules and directives of the Party which we did but when we discovered that it is all deceit, we had to leave the Party back to the PDP where we left from'' "We had to return to the party that we can see its structures and development on ground because there is no ward in the 25 Local Government Councils in the state that has not received dividend of democracy through the Ward Development Project." He also stated that the over 2000 decampees are from ten wards in the state, adding that more will join them. According to Sulieman, he was not financially induced to return to the PDP adding that he returned because of his conviction that PDP has better things in stock for the people of the state. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/over-2000-apc-members-in-suleja-decamp-to-pdp/200191/ |
God Bless our soldiers God Bless President Jonathan Nigeria will Overcome GEJ till 2019 |
The Presidential aspirant of All Progressives Congress has further confirmed the fears of Many Nigerians , His promise of providing 1 million jobs for Igbo youths clearly shows that he is completely clueless and detached from the present realities, needs and expectations of our South eastern brothers and sisters Even a ten year old knows what the igbo needs is not Jobs but business opportunities so that they themselves will create the jobs ! Our south eastern brothers are business inclined that's why President Jonathan in his quest to empower the region , Established an international Airport for the region after close to three decades of been denied one by successive government including Buhari's Established the Ontisha river Port to promote trade and reduce cost of doing business in the hinterland He encouraged and Patronised INNOSON Nigeria's biggest vehicle manufacturer He is presently constructing the Second Niger Bridge He revived rice farming Today Ofada rice is one of the Nation's premium export earners The enhanced cargo clearing time has helped business owners not just in the south east to maximise profit Several International and Local companies have opened shops in the south east largely due to the policies of the Jonathan administration ! The Igbo Nation know what they want and I Know its not a 72 year old man who is clueless about their needs. |

My thoughts on Muhammadu Buhari's academic records are simple and thus: 1. The Presidential Candidate of the APC like his party is remarkably fraudulent and deceitful. 2. The released result bears MOHAMED BUHARI while the ailing general calls himself MUHAMMADU BUHARI. 3. The result bears the acronym of WAEC yet its well known that WAEC wasn't in existence as at 1961. CAMBRIDGE was the standard at that time. 4. The result released by Buhari's WAEC bears KATSINA STATE as state/location of exam yet there wasn't a KATSINA STATE as at 1961 till 1987. 5. MUHAMMADU BUHARI claims the Late Gen. Shehu Musa Yar'Adua was his classmate. This has left me thinking how Shehu who joined the Army in 1959 could be in final CLASS 6 in 1961. 6. Class 6 was introduced into our academic curriculum in 1990. How come MUHAMMADU BUHARI had passed that class before the government introduced it? I stand to be corrected by any APC bigot on these. Reject corruption! Reject Boko Haram! Reject the APC! Reject MUHAMMADU and/or MOHAMED BUHARI. |
Following the recent adjustment in the Price of premium motor spirit, From 97 Naira to 87 Naira, many have expressed doubt about the ability of the government to enforce the new price, So I decided to walk into a fuel station on Ajaokuta - lokoja road ( North central Nigeria ) and Behold they were dispensing the product at =N= 87 the official pump price. It was Michael Crichton who said " If you don't know history, then you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree" . Knowing what has transpired in the past will provide a glimpse of what the future might hold. To state that young people will play a defining role in the 2015 presidential election is to state the obvious considering the fact that they constitute majority of the voting population. Now let's take a look at the antecedents and credentials of the two major political parties and how young people fit into their plans The Peoples Democratic Party under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan at their convention elected 30 year old Abdullahi MaiBasira to lead the youths, while their counterparts in the APC selected a 54 year old former House of Representative aspirant to occupy the only position traditionally reserved for young people in political Parties. In addition the party is fielding the oldest presidential aspirant, the oldest governorship aspirant, and the oldest aspirant vying for a seat in the senate , Alhaji Shaba Lafiagi of Kwara APC who turned 74 last year. Before the Jonathan era, thousands of young and qualified Nigerians have consistently found it difficult to secure admission into Nigerian universities, lack of slots and over population forced many schools to turn back very qualified young Nigerians, a situation President Goodluck Jonathan considered unacceptable. In a bid to correct this anomaly, the President swung into action and in one fell swoop constructed 12 brand new Universities from scratch sweeping thousands of young Nigerians into various degree programmes in the process. He also placed food on the tables of many young people who became beneficiaries of employment from these new universities as academic and non academic staff. Worthy of note is the fact that 9 of these 12 new universities are located in Northern Nigeria were the literacy rate is at its lowest. His main challenger on the other hand did not build a single university while he held sway at Doddan barracks as Head of state. History tells us that he did not only disband the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) he also scrapped subsidised feeding in Nigerian Universities . Another Fact that set president Goodluck Jonathan apart is his love for young entrepreneurs and their exceptional ideas , few months into his presidency thousands of young Nigerians received YouWin grants , to set up and expand their businesses. Till date no Nigerian can point to a singular innovation or youth programme executed under the regime of General Buhari. When President Jonathan came to power members of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) could bearly make ends meet with the Meagre =N= 8250 they received as allowances, President Jonathan ordered an Over 100% increase in their allowances to =N= 19,500, his counterpart on the other hand is busy still justifying the cold blooded murder of youth corpers by his supporters in 2011. Few years ago, the President discovered that the private sector was not willing to hire inexperienced graduates, he lunched a scheme where young people could obtain the requisite experience to qualify them for employment. This line of thought gave birth to the graduate internship scheme (GIS). Under this scheme graduates who have completed their National youth service are attached to a firm to gain experience while the government also pays the participant a stipend. The agricultural revolution that has slashed Nigeria's food imports bill by over 80 % is another testimony of the ability of young Nigerians if given the opportunity. The presidents confidence in the ability of the Nigerian youth has paid off with the massive involvement of youths in rice farming which contributed greatly in cutting down our food import. On the other hand, the opposition's presidential candidate who informed INEC in 2003 that he had 150 cows seem not to have embraced new techniques and methods of animal breeding, this has left him with 150 cows after 11 solid years, this kind of stagnation is not what the nation requires at a time when crude prices are at an all time low . In 2015 thousands of young Nigerians will become proud home owners for the very first time in their lives, thanks to the setting up of the National Mortgage refinance company by President Jonathan. This dream could however be short circuted in a Buhari Presidency. A look at his antecedents clearly points to that fact , he has a history of cancelling noble projects and never initiating any. A man who paid 500 million US dollars for cancelling Jakande's lagos Metro rail project instead of paying 450 million USD to complete same does not look like a man who can lead Nigeria in the 21st century. From Unity school rehabilitation to the setting up of Almajiri schools, from the massive engagement of young Nigerians in developmental projects to an unprecedented award of scholarship to Nigerian students, President Jonathan has shown great commitment and passion for the upliftment of young By Nigerians irrespective of religion, background or tribe. His recent promise to implement the report of the CONFAB which adopted the 30% inclusion of young Nigerians in governance amongst many other noble recommendations is a clear sign that the President is not about to shift focus from his youth centred policies. http://thesheet.ng/opinion-between-president-jonathan-and-general-buhari-which-man-stands-for-the-youth-oche-joseph-otorkpa/ |
