The last time I met Comrade Adams Oshiomole was In the Early days of 2002, I was Student Union Leader, who believed in the principles the Comrade stood for,I left home that morning to Join a protest called by the Comrade ,he was then President of the Nigerian labour Congress( NLC). It was a march against the impunity that characterised the manner in which the Obasanjo Administration continuously hiked petroleum prices. As he spoke to us that day ,I was inspired . He outlined how the policies of government has consistently impoverished the people, taking from the poor and giving to the rich, not even his subsequent arrest later could dampen my spirits. I believed I have found a Nigerian who will cue behind the masses no matter the odds, with Oshiomole in the Lead I was willing to go on any protest march because I believed he was a man of Integrity and great Compassion. Its been almost 12 years since that encounter and it seems the man I knew has completely changed . As I watched the video of his complete humiliation of a widow struggling to make ends meet , my heart bled ,the words that were to come out from his mouth moments later threw me into a state of depression. For a state governor to bark at widow is harsh enough, but tell that same widow to go and die is the height of Cruelty. Pope Francis has shown the world what it means to be compassionate and as practising Catholic we expected more from the comrade. Nevertheless , great leaders are known for turning weakness into strength and Adversity into opportunity, searching for that widow will not be difficult, like Og Mandino once said “Extend to each person, no matter how trivial the contact, all the care and kindness and understanding and love that you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.” Our Comrade needs to apologise, his behaviour was completely unacceptable no matter the circumstance. Somehow, I pray Nigerians will find the space in their hearts to forgive him. Oche Otorkpa Writes from Abuja. Twitter:@ochejoseph |
Op you will, read this your thread in one months time and regret every word you penned down ,it has happened to me before . last night I tried to justify Oshio babas actions but the more I replayed the video the more I see the cruelty in the whole stuff . Its simply unacceptable. For a long long time to come Oshiomole will be undisputed poster child for Gov cruelty and lack of compassion . When I followed him as an undergraduate in 2002 to protest the Fuel price hike I never knew power could transform him so quickly, But he can still turn this blunder in his favour if he is wise , The man simply forgot that in the 21st century even akara seller can bring down a gov GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
Members of the “new PDP” in the House of Representatives have begun a systematic retreat from the party following the defection of five of the G-7 governors to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, Rabiu Kwankwanso of Kano, Ahmed Abdulfatah of Kwara had on Tuesday dumped the PDP and announced their merger with the APC. But in a surprise move, members of the House of Representatives from these states, who overwhelmingly pledged allegiance to their governors when they moved to form the nPDP as a faction of the party, have now made a move seen to be for the protection of their interests. The lawmakers of the nPDP and mainstream PDP yesterday met as a caucus in a closed-door meeting presided over by the deputy speaker, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, and leader of the House, Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, where they decided that it was time to take steps to protect their stakes and in the overall interest of the country rather than follow the commands of their governors. After discussions, they resolved that the way forward for them would be to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan next week to discuss on how exactly they could work out the crisis in the party without anybody being hounded. “We discussed as one party. There was nothing like new PDP and old PDP. The main thing we discussed was how to dissociate ourselves from the crisis within the party and the defection by some governors to the APC,” a lawmaker who craved anonymity stated. When asked what has changed since the last time when they supported their governors’ decision by signing up for the nPDP, he said: “We know what we want for ourselves. Some of us are not really into the crisis but we had to show loyalty to our governors.” Another major issue that was raised at the meeting was the need to change the point man between the presidency and members of the House. They said he was not reliable in his dealings on their behalf. It was thereafter that they resolved that the House, led by the speaker Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, meet President Jonathan to have a dialogue with him on their demands. “Part of our demands is to know specifically what is in it for us, if we decide to give full support to our great party,” the lawmaker added. Afam4eva: Now, he wants to humble himself. There's nothing as good as humility. This is a player that was in the starting 11 for his country but due to pride, he's now begging for a shirt. Anyways, let him prove himself and he may just be called backj. But i assure him that it won't be easy to break in like that.Afam I can't agree with you More , he had a shirt anytime any day but felt he was irreplaceable, I can't believe he had such kind words for Keshi , Odemwingie Humbled at last |

Cardiff City striker, Osaze Odemwingie, has stated his desire to represent Nigeria at the Fifa World Cup in Brazil in 2014. The former West Brom striker, who has 55 caps for Nigeria was last involved with the national team about a year ago and has since been overlooked by coach Stephen Keshi. Odemwingie, who made a deadline day move from West Brom to Cardiff City in the summer, wants to join the likes of Gary Medel and Kim Bo- Kyung, whose countries, Chile and South Korea respectively, have both qualified to appear in Brazil. “I was in the Nigeria squad for the last World Cup finals in South Africa and I would love the chance to go again,” Odemwengie told Welsh portal, WalesOnline. Odemwingie believes if he has a massive season for Cardiff City, then he is in with a shout to be recalled by Nigeria to fight for a shirt in the team. “Why not? Certainly, I believe I have a chance and when it comes I would be delighted,” he said after Cardiff drew 2-2 with Manchester United last weekend. “I haven’t been selected lately because the coach is making changes to the squad. “It affected all the older players so the situation wasn’t friendly, but he has insisted that any player who is active and eligible will have a chance to play at the World Cup so we will see. “Playing for my country in Brazil would mean so much to me. Brazil is even more popular football-wise so it will be great if it happens.” Nigeria beat Ethiopia 4-1 on aggregate to qualify for the football fiesta for the fifth time in their history and Odemwingie feels it will take a lot of hard work if he is going to get into the squad. “Playing in the Premier League can only help me,” Odemwingie stated. “No player will be in the squad unless they do well for their various clubs. Odemwingie made his Nigeria debut in 2002 and has represented Nigeria at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He was also a silver medallist at the Beijing 2008 Olympics with the Under-23 Olympic team who lost to Argentina in the gold medal match. www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/news/sports/item/27343-i-want-to-go-to-world-cup-odemwingie.html |
APC is already fighting corruption With 1 Billion for every Kilometre road. Construction has been made more easier With Payments for Owambe birthday parties levies made compulsory who wants to loose Tinubu Bedroom primaries Drowning of the Masses with illegitimate and excessively High taxes who needs an Armed robber Yes APC will fight Corruption I agree but first let Fashola declare how much he funnels to those Consultants and How much IGR is generated monthly as requested using the FOI ,for 3 years the guy has been dodging 2. Let Rochas tell the whole world what he did with the Billions that ended up in uncompleted Round abouts 3 let APC tell us what it will Do with all The EFCC cases hanging over the neck of the G7 governors Then we might take them seriously GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
None of these nPDP Govs can survive in APC they are used to the free life of dictating to all including the president. With Tinubu aand Buhari virtually dictating all that happens in APC even Bafarawa is beginning to realise he made a Huge mistake. How can the leadership of APC visit a state twice and the Leader of the party in the state was not informed ? On both occasion! Ask abacha and CPC legislators Buhari is Bad nice , ACN Usually have their primaries in Tinubus Bedroom now that they have merged primaries for northern APC will be held in Buharis Bedroom while Tinubu will dictate the List for Akande from his , this guys will soon realise that 1 KM road = 1 billion plus begging . |

The special assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri took to the social media platform Twitter reacting to the merger of the new-PDP with the opposition party, APC after prolonged negotiations. The G-7 governors had, on Tuesday, defected to the opposition party APC after a closed door meeting in Abuja where they finally reached a decision to embrace the opposition. Below is what Omokri had to say about the development: Disloyalty is a habit and its only a matter of time before men who are disloyal to their mother would become disloyal to their step mother. — Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) November 26, 2013 www.ynaija.com/food-for-thought-presidential-aide-reno-omokri-reacts-to-npdpapc-merger-and-its-classic-read/?utm_content=buffer4be42&utm_source=buffer&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Buffer

Three Reasons You Should Never Marry for Love People who don't marry for love in our culture are considered unlucky, suspect, manipulative, exploitative, and bad. From our perspective, they are either doing something wrong or there is something wrong with them. It makes us feel a range of emotions for them -- everything from sympathy to contempt, because most of us were taught that love is the only "right" reason to tie the knot. But if you really think about it, love is a luxury. When you marry for love, it generally means you have all -- or at least most -- of your other needs met (like food, shelter, warmth, etc). That may explain why those with fewer financial resources also have lower marriage rates: If you're worried about your survival or safety, you're not going to be focusing on finding the man or woman of your dreams -- unless of course this dream person is your ticket out of your terrible home life, dreary financial picture or scary "singledom." Procreation has always been a reason to marry, but up until about two hundred years ago or so, people in the West married more for political or financial gain than for love. The Victorian Era and the Industrial Revolution (1800s) created two important changes in how people lived: Romance became all the rage and technological advances made life much easier. Prior to these developments, divorce was incredibly rare but when love entered the picture as the reason to marry, marital dissolutions became more commonplace. Critics point to Women's Rights, No- Fault Divorce laws and the greater emphasis on the pursuit of personal happiness in the '70s, for opening the door to more choice and, therefore, more divorce. Rates spiked up to 50% (up from 11% in the fifties) and have not changed much in the last 50 years. We've come a long way with technology and modern living but have we actually come too far in our conjugal love-centric culture? What experts like Andrew Cherlin (Marriage-Go-Round) and Stephanie Coontz (Marriage, A History) tell us is that, in our attempt to make marriage stronger by raising the bar to meet our higher needs, we have seriously weakened the institution now that marriage is based on love and romance -- both highly changeable emotions. When love wanes, the marriage gets shaky; when the romance stops, the nuptials die. People whose primary reason to marry is other than love -- such as to have children with someone they believed would be a good co-parent, to have financial security, or for companionship -- generally have longer and perhaps better marriages because their choices were made with a purpose. Additionally, their expectations of marriage and their mate are less unrealistic. Their spouse wasn't expected to be "The One." They merely needed to be Mr. or Mrs. "Good Enough." Some people call this settling, but we are seeing the wisdom of marriages like these more and more. I'm not saying love shouldn't be on the list of things that need to be in your relationship, but it doesn't need to be number one (and perhaps shouldn't be). Here are the three reasons I think marrying primarily for love is not wise: 1. Love is a changeable emotion. As quickly as you fall in love, you can fall out of love. Then what? Either the relationship ends or it becomes toxic. If love is your primary connection, the glue is gone. This is true for passionate, physical love as well as "soul-mate" love. 2. Love does not make for a strong enough foundation. Yes, love is strong but, due to the fact that it can evaporate, it is not something that can stand alone as the basis for a long- term relationship (especially when kids are involved). Anything built on a foundation of love is subject to crumbling. 3. Love is far from "all you need." You need mutual respect, shared goals and compatibility way more than you need love to have a sustainable, lasting relationship. People "fall in love with love" just as Kim Kardashian showed us, because they think it will carry them the distance. We all want to be wanted and we love to love yet, if you had a recipe for a strong, healthy relationship, it might look like this: 3 Cups respect; 2 Cups shared goals; 2 Cups compatibility, 1 Tablespoon love, 1 teaspoon attraction (optional!). (Of course a relationship has many more ingredients than this but you get the idea). What do you think? A version of this article appeared in PsychologyToday.com Note: Journalist, Vicki Larson and I are currently writing a book entitled, The New I Do, Reshaping Marriage for Cynics, Commitaphobes and Connubial DIYers, (Seal Press, Fall 2014). If you have a marriage that was based more on companionship, co-parenting, safety or financial security than on love, please contact me at info@changingmarriage.com. we'd like to interview you. If you have a Covenant Marriage (a more religious marriage based on love and service for God -- legal only in Kansas, Arkansas, Arizona and Louisiana), we'd like to hear from you too. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there, they say, but others still find a way to be the top dog in their fields. Becoming a chief executive officer in Nigeria takes serious commitment, sacrifice and intellectual ability than the average man is willing to part with, and this is why the lives of CEO’s often appear to be shrouded in mystery. They are like demi-gods, towering over the rest of humanity… This is a peek into the lives of the highest-paid CEOs in Nigeria: Sola David-Borha, CEO OF STANBIC IBTC This interesting woman is the MD/CEO of Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc. She is the highest paid director in our banking sector. Her annual take-home pay? N177m. if we want to break this down, we’re saying she earns N484,931 daily (and that’s with weekends included) Tunji Oyebanji, CEO of Mobil Oil Nigeria Ltd CEO of Mobil Oil Nigeria (MON), one of the major petroleum products marketing companies in Nigeria, Tunji Oyebanji has an annual pay of N85m which, when broken down, translates to, give or take N230,000 daily. Olusegun Agbaje CEO, GTBank Olusegun J.K. Agbaje founded GTBank with Tayo Aderinokun (who died in 2011) in 1990, and since then this bank has grown into what it is today. His yearly income is N77m. Jubril Adewale Tinubu, CEO, Oando Plc Financial reports put Wale Tinubu as the second highest- paid CEO in the oil sector. He makes, annually, a total of N69m. Akin Akinfemiwa, CEO, Forte Oil Plc The CEO of this oil company, which was formerly known as African Petroleum Plc, is said to be worth N64m annually. Philips Oduoza, CEO, UBA Philips Oduoza, apart from being the CEO of UBA, is also its group managing director and executive director. He has an annual income of N57m (2010 statistics) Jubril Aku, CEO, Ecobank Nigeria When a Financial Transparency report for Banks was released in 2009, Jubril Aku was ranked the second highest paid CEO in the banking sector with an annual income of N88m, but since then, his salary has been slashed to N38m per month – it is speculated that this was done because of financial stress the bank was facing. Godwin Emefiele, CEO, Zenith Bank Godwin succeeded Jim Ovia, pioneer CEO of Zenith Bank in 2010, and his track record since then seems to confirm that he has done well for himself. He is also among the highest paid CEOs in the banking sector. Stanbic IBTC, Mobil Oil Nigeria
