The Aide De Camp, ADC, to the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Peter Kishira reportedly slumped and died while pursuing a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as Okada. The Okada was said to have allegedly obstructed the convoy of his boss. However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Timothy Nathaniel, in a statement stated that the ADC, Inspector Gaiya Mark, died as a result of health related complications contrary to the rumour that the commercial motorcycle operator used charm on him. Timothy admitted that the okada rider breached the convoy of the Deputy Governor who was on his way to the office which led to the attempt of the ADC to arrest and warn the rider. It added that the ADC slumped moments after stopping the rider at U.B.A. area of Murtala Muhammed Way, Ilorin, as there was no confrontation between him and the okada rider. He was rushed to the Civil Service Clinic, Ilorin, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The Police Public Relations Officer, Okesumi Ajayi who confirmed the incident said there was no scuffle with the commercial motorcycle rider before the ADC died. He described the late ADC as a gentle and gallant officer who lost his life on duty. Obiagelli: Gbam, election is about numbers.Obiageli my Sister I had wanted you to ccomment on Reno's article yesterday but you were away in Church I would love to have your response Here is an except from the article hypocrisies. On the 18th of December 2013 several newspapers carried the statement from the All Progressive Congress, APC. While the different papers gave their own slant to the story, I particularly liked the headline from a major newspaper which said “Jonathan Must Respond to Obasanjo – APC”. Now, imagine my surprise when after President Goodluck Jonathan did exactly what the APC recommended, they changed their tune and on the 26th of December 2013 the headline changed to “APC berates Jonathan’s response to Obasanjo’s letter”. The story in fact was more telling with the Vanguard Newspapers writing that “The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the presidency has been greatly diminished by its decision to throw decorum to the wind and engage former President Olusegun Obasanjo”. With the above, it should now be obvious to objective citizens that the APC stands for nothing and is only against anything President Goodluck Jonathan does. For instance, Senator Bola Tinubu had been one of the most vociferous champions for the convocation of a National Conference. He had championed this cause for years and many had come to see the idea as his pet project. At the first Anthony Enahoro Memorial Lecture in Benin City, Edo State which held on the 24th of November 2011, Bola Tinubu had said “I submit to you today that because of the multiple issues surrounding our skewed federalism and constitutional flaws, the Nigerian nation is weak…The 21-member Presidential Committee on the Review of Outstanding Constitutional Issues (PCROCI) recently set up by President Goodluck Jonathan falls short. It is a backdoor approach to the issue of national conference. In memory of Chief Enahoro we must convoke a national conference.” And when on October 1st 2013, President Jonathan listened to the cries of Nigerians and decided to convoke the very National Conference that Bola Tinubu advocated, the Asiwaju made a characteristic 360 degree turn and went on attack mode saying on October 6th 2013 “The national conference is by whom, for whom, and at what stage? How many levels of deception? I see a contradiction. I see diversion. I see deception, lack of honesty and integrity.” Obviously, Senator Tinubu is willing to cut his nose to spite his face. And if you think this is a case of multiple personality syndrome, you may have a point. On the 25th of March 2013 after a birthday party that was reported in the media to have cost 1 billion Naira, Bola Tinubu gave an interview to The Sun Newspaper and said “There are so many news items that are seriously more newsworthy than to be looking for Obasanjo’s congratulatory messages in the newspaper. A man who had great opportunity to put Nigeria on the right path and failed to do so; failed to do even the Otta road, not Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. What am I celebrating about him? That’s the truth. He deceptively dealt with the country and he handed over to a man who knew he was ill. Obasanjo is a leader that could not find another successor capable of driving through his vision for the country”. Imagine my surprise when nine months later on December the 22nd of 2013 the same Bola Tinubu was at former President Obasanjo’s residence at Ota and told the same man whom he had hitherto said “had great opportunity to put Nigeria on the right path and failed to do so” that “We’re resolved and determined to rescue Nigeria. We want you as navigator”. How can these two statements be reconciled? It is glaring to objective minds that the APC is a party without ideology, and a vision for Nigeria cobbled together by people without scruples who would be willing to work with anybody no matter how odious as long as that person has a grudge against President Goodluck Jonathan. This is why they cannot argue with facts and figures against President Jonathan and must therefore conjure up lies, innuendo and propaganda premiumtimesng.com/opinion/152670-nigeria-2014-fact-versus-fiction-reno-omokri.html |
Yes it Only gets better By the time the Benefits of PHCN privatisation and The Eastern rail lines becomes Fully Operational with the New coaches all Enemies of Jona will disappear ! |
Tribune : ALL is not within the camps of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna and Kano states as groups within the party have kicked against the leadership in the two states. The party’s members in the Kaduna State House of Assembly (KDHA) and those at National Assembly passed a vote of no confidence in the state interim chairman of the party, Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed, while the members of the party led by the former Governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, have rejected the leadership of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, saying that they would only recognise and stand by the former governor as the leader of the party, a development that was against the handing over of the party to Kwankwaso by the national leadership of the APC. The minority leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honourable Shehu Adamu, said they had passed a vote of no confidence in Baba Ahmed “who had made the party unattractive in recent times.” “Yes, we issued a vote of no confidence against him yesterday [Friday] during our meeting with our colleagues from the National Assembly, including Senator Sani Saleh,” he said. “We did that because of his frequent unilateral decisions and high-handedness against party members. He refused to listen to us, so we have no other option than to take such a decision. We shall call a press conference later and intimate the press with the details,” he added. While speaking with journalists in Kano, the group, led by chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Alhaji Sani Hashimu Hotoro, also distanced themselves from the recent homage paid to Governor Kwankwaso by some members of the defunct ANPP. Alhaji Sani insisted that “until the interim national leadership of the APC clarify issues surrounding the party leadership in the state, no person would be tolerated to impose himself as the leader, adding that “we are here to confirm our support for Malam Shekarau as the authentic leader of the APC in Kano State.” But the interim leadership of the party in Kaduna has said at a press conference on Saturday that they were still on track and expressed ignorance of the position of the party’s lawmakers. Organising Secretary of the APC in the state, Chief Joshua Ephraim told newsmen that they were duly elected to lead the party in Kaduna State, noting that Dr. Baba Ahmed had been carrying all party members along and had never taken a unilateral decision as was alleged. |

— January 6, 2014 In its latest spate of political offensive against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), the All People’s Congress (APC) added a curious but stern admonishment to the judges across Nigeria not to be pliant to the influences of the PDP. To follow up on their threat, they promised the mother of all mass movements if the PDP and such ‘pliant’ judges go ahead to conspire to declare the seats of five defecting PDP governors vacant. Perhaps, seeing the folly of Progressives being perceived as threatening parties to a dispute from taking legal steps, the aforementioned threat from the party’s spokesperson, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was modified by the party’s chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, who later declared that the party will take legal steps to protect the defecting governors. But this is all bombast, and the APC knows it. The reasons the APC’s claims are bombastic are twofold. Firstly, the party argues albeit erroneously that the only acceptable process for removing a state governor is by the provisions of section 180 of the extant Nigerian constitution. This is a ‘big fat’ lie. Two of the states currently controlled by the APC; Osun and Ekiti states, were burgeoned in court. Perhaps by the grace of ‘pliant’ judges; the APC should know about ‘pliant’ judges. Justice Salami allegedly became a judicial and political flotsam courtesy of such pliancy. We may never know the full story now that the main litigant in the aforesaid case, Chief Oyinlola, has become part of the jetsam in the political whirlpool created by the defecting governors. Secondly, they argue that previously, other governors from other parties had defected to the PDP without consequences. This is the most ridiculous legal premise for obviating a legal recourse. It is an argument that may be presented in the following syllogism: A stole a goat from B but B said nothing and did not litigate, so why should A take C to court for stealing A’s goat. That the parties from which governors defected previously chose to be passive is not a proof that their actions were not unconstitutional or unlawful. If the APC and the defecting governors felt safe enough to test it as a mores, the PDP though with a huge moral burden, having been a beneficiary of such defections in the past, may feel safe enough to test it as a law. Unfortunately, the difference between a law and a mores is that, whereas mores are generally accepted practices, moral norms or custom of what a society or group considers acceptable and which they may deviate from without consequences from society on the one hand. Laws on the other hand, are written, gazetted and codified body of rules and standards issued by governing authorities for which negation of expected behaviour attracts codified consequences. The legality of defection with a party’s mandate has not been adequately tested by judicial interpretation in Nigeria. But this does not mean that there are no consequential laws guiding such defections. So it may quite be acceptable practice between Nigerian politicians to defect from one party to another, but is it the accepted law to retain their mandate from the parties from which they defected? To find answers to this question, the PDP has gone to court to challenge the validity of the mandate given to a PDP governor being exercised by an APC governor. To support their prayer in court they cited the following body of laws: Section 177c which states that; “A person shall be qualified for election to the office of Governor of a state if (c ) he is a member of a political party and is sponsored by that political party” ; Section 221 of the extant constitution which states that “no association, other than a political party, shall canvass for votes for any candidate at any election or contribute to the funds of any political party or to the election expenses of any candidate at an election”. As well as Section 222 (a-e) which starts by indicating that; “No association by whatsoever name called shall function as a party, unless (a) the names and addresses of its national officers are registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission.” From the foregoing, without further adumbrating the provisions of subsections (b) to (e), it can be seen that the nPDP does not qualify to function as a party, or go into a merger as a political group with an extant party, as it does not have a registration with the INEC, moreover the APC was not an existing entity at the time the mandates of these governors where won by their parties. But to complicate matters further, the Electoral Act which guides the verdict of electoral mandates, had the following provisions on mergers of political parties and how the mandate of a party may be carried forward in the absence of the party. In section 84 of the extant Electoral Act, it is provided that for parties to merge, the existing entities of the merging parties must not only dissolve but must notify the electoral Commission INEC of its willingness to do so and must thereafter conduct a congress of the merging parties to formalise the process. After these are conducted, a formal dissolution will be certified by INEC. These ensure that mergers are not an issue that is arbitrary or conducted at the spur of the moment in disdain of party members. Thus, assumedly from these laws, nPDP has no powers to dissolve PDP or a hypothetical faction of it, nor is there any record of party conventions or notices to INEC in that regard, whether in whole or factional part to precede such merger. Furthermore, on what happens to the apriori political mandates of the dissolved parties, the Electoral Act at section 97 provides that where a party ceases to exist, the members may carry such mandates until the end of the mandate. The fact however is that, the PDP -like the other parties from which former PDP governors defected but which did not bother to challenge the PDP for their mandates- did not cease to exist and hence there was no legal plank to defend their action. — Akinola is a Lagos-based development analyst leadership.ng/features/1583/cross-carpeting-apc-calls-to-pliant-judges |

NEWISSUES, Abuja Contrary to the stand of five former governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) that they are automatic leaders of the opposition party in their states, the APC leadership has said it has not ceded the offices to them. The clarification came as top leaders of the APC, who championed its emergence from the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and Democratic People’s Party (DPP), have continued to reject the governors as their leaders, describing them as “strangers in the APC fold”. The APC leadership has also hinted that the party will hold its first national convention to elect its national officers in March while the local government and state congresses will precede it in February. In an interview with LEADERSHIP Sunday, APC interim national spokesman Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the party did not give the leadership mantle to any of the defected governors and urged APC chieftains in the affected states to sheathe their swords in the overall interest of the party. “We have not asked the new PDP governors to take over the leadership of the party in their states. Nobody has said that. What we agreed on was that all the new PDP governors should be given the same privileges being enjoyed by the APC governors, which is just to be given the opportunity to appoint representatives for the interim committees of the party. Those who are claiming that do not get it right,” Mohammed said. “The defection of the new PDP governors to the party should make us happy because they made us stronger in the states where they come from. Their coming has positive and negative sides: the positive is that we are stronger in their states while the negative side is that those who have been in charge of the party are feeling threatened with their ambition for one post or the other.” He added: “There is a need to manage the ego and interest of those who are angry and feel threatened that their ambition might not being realised; but they should all forget about their ambition and work harmoniously with the former PDP governors. They should learn from our leaders who sacrificed their personal ambition for the merger to become a reality.” The defection of governors Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano State, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara) and Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) has caused disaffection among stakeholders in the states. The only exceptions are Kwara and Rivers states where there is no discord among the members. In Adamawa State, retired Brig-Gen. Buba Marwa and Governor Nyako are fighting for the soul of the APC, while in Kano State Governor Kwankwaso is at loggerheads with his predecessor in office, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau. The same goes for Sokoto State where Governor Wamakko and former governor of the state Attahiru Bafarawa are into a supremacy contest. At the centre of the dispute is the condition given to the defected governors that they would enjoy the same privileges and rights given to the APC governors in their states. To the defected governors, this means that they are the leaders of the party in their states, but this has been rejected by the founding fathers of the APC in the affected states. Although APC national leaders has set up machinery to address the logjam, the crisis is far from over, thereby making political analysts suggest that the party should learn from the PDP which zoned its offices to take care of various interest groups in the party. “The zoning of positions and elective offices within the PDP was adopted purposely to take care of every interest group that made up the party in 1998 shortly before and after the Jos convention, and this was why the party still stays by the zoning arrangement; and it was the death of President Umaru Yar’Adua and the assumption of office by then vice president Dr Goodluck Jonathan as president that led to the crisis rocking the party till date,” a serving senator said. But Mohammed urged those who are unhappy with the pact APC struck with the defected governors to put the interest of the party and the country first in their grievances if they wanted an end to the poor governance of the PDP. He stated that the former PDP governors came to the APC at the right time, adding: “Our registration would start in February and they with their supporters would be given the same opportunity to register and participate in the congresses coming up in the same month and in the national convention holding in March.” Mohammed accused the PDP of orchestrating the crisis in the affected states, but expressed optimism that the commission set up by the party would resolve all the conflicts before the congresses. He also allayed fears of domination in the convention and the primaries which would follow, declaring that there would be no zoning as every member would be free to contest in the open primaries for each office. “By the grace of God, all the conflicts would be resolved before the congresses in February and the convention in March. To achieve this, the party has set up a high-powered committee to smoothen all the rough edges and this would be done shortly before the registration scheduled for this month. Our congresses would be in February and, by March, we would have the convention. “There is no zoning in our constitution. We would be guided by our constitution. We have been hearing a lot of rumours and speculations that are not true. All our officers and candidates for all election will emerge through a transparent process. Nigerians are interested in how our presidential candidate will emerge. We won’t disappoint them,” Mohammed said. -Leadership www.newissuesmagazine.com/defected-pdp-govs-state-leaders-apc/ |
It think it will be Interesting to know what Nairalnder think about the Nigerian Media. 1. Sanusi said they instigated the coup in the country 2. Reno and Abati say the are opposition controlled twisting any thing the president says 3. The Media practitioners say they present an unbiased , fair and patriotic view of the country. What's your view about the Media in Nigeria and why

The Huffingthon post carried a News of the Giant Strides of the Jonathan Administration in the Health Sector , Now Reuters has cemented GEJ place in history . One thing we must note is the fact that these are international News media outlet with one of the highest standards in the Industry If we must judge Jonathan Let's judge him not on what the APC wants us to believe, lets judge him on the promises he has made and how many he has delivered! Its more objective GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
momojomo: Silliness at its' peak!!. An opposition party recommended that a sitting president should trade words with a former president and He, in his almighty silliness, towed that line. So if APC says GEJ should jump into a Lagoon, He would?Did u listen to your self? If you only u read the presidents reply to OBJ u will realised that he first listed his reasons why he had to reply. APC was not mentioned anywhere there. So face facts and stop chasing Shadows , attacking Reno will not solve the credibility problem Bedeviling the APC |
Honestly I expect every right thinking Nairalander to analyse the issues Raised by Reno in this article and determine who among the APC wizards and the GEJ administration is decieving Nigerian's!!!!!!! |
Reno Omokri is Special Assistant (New Media) to President Jonathan. His piece below... I was about to write this piece detailing the positive effects of the Transformation Agenda when I was confronted with a hypocrisy which could possibly pass for the mother of all hypocrisies. On the 18th of December 2013 several newspapers carried the statement from the All Progressive Congress, APC. While the different papers gave their own slant to the story, I particularly liked the headline from a major newspaper which said "Jonathan Must Respond to Obasanjo - APC". Continue... It is glaring to objective minds that the APC is a party without ideology, and a vision for Nigeria cobbled together by people without scruples who would be willing to work with anybody no matter how odious as long as that person has a grudge against President Goodluck Jonathan. This is why they cannot argue with facts and figures against President Jonathan and must therefore conjure up lies, innuendo and propaganda. The APC's attention is focused on the short term goal of securing political power by whatever means necessary. They have no long term focus of transforming the lives of Nigerians. Who has been to an APC rally, or heard an APC chief or chieftain being interviewed and heard them talk about their plans for the transformation of Nigeria? Over the past year, as if choreographed, APC leaders have talked about 2015 in terms of doom, soaking people in blood, civil war, destruction and such militant language. Politicians ought to think in terms of welfare for the people not warfare for them. Talks of blood/war in 2015 are a result of poverty of vision. They have no vision so they feel must use scare tactics. What makes these yesterday's men bitter enough to call for blood and gore? I posit that it is the misuse of the opportunities God gave them and the refusal to accept that it has shifted to others. While the President stays on point talking about his vision for the future, their focus is on insulting and disparaging him. A persuasive leader is not weak and a coercive leader is not strong. Anyone can compel obedience by force but only the strong get it by non violent persuasion. I often encounter people on Social Media telling me that the President and his team do not fight fire with fire and insults with insults. Insults are available to everyone but they are overlooked by those who want to rise but embraced by those who want to pull the risers down. The Jonathan presidency is run on ideas because at the helm is a PhD leader who has voiced out severally that he believes in transforming lives rather than conforming to the status quo. Ideas are the building blocks of the Transformation Agenda. Ideas lead to cooperation thus expanding our sense of what is possible. Insults leads to isolation thus limiting our sense of what's possible. This is the basic difference between President Jonathan and the current opposition. They have called the President a "clueless" leader who is running a "kindergarten presidency", but do the facts support what they claim. The major leaders of the coalition of the desperate otherwise known as the APC have at one time or the other governed the whole of Nigeria or a major part of it, so they should be able to compare their record side by side the president and establish by such facts whether or not their claims of a clueless leader has any basis in fact. Since they cannot do it, I will help them by bringing out facts about the Jonathan administration vis a vis what existed before this administration came to power. 8:32 pm NAIROBI – One person was wounded Saturday when an improvised bomb exploded in the Kenyan capital, police said, in a shop in Nairobi’s mainly ethnic Somali district Eastleigh. The attack is the latest of a series of bomb or grenade blasts in Kenya. “One person has been wounded… a person of Somali origin left luggage containing an improvised explosive device in a shop,” Nairobi police chief Benson Kibue said. “We are appealing to residents to help us get him.” There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. However, since Kenyan troops invaded southern Somalia in October 2011 to help oust the neighbouring country’s Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab insurgents, it has been hit by a series of attacks. Homegrown groups including the Islamist Al- Hijra group, a radical organisation formerly known as the Muslim Youth Center, operate in Kenya and have been linked to the Shebab. Grenades have been hurled into restaurants in crowded areas in Nairobi as well as on the popular tourist Indian Ocean coast, and there has been a string of attacks in the remote northeast region bordering Somalia. Ten people were wounded Thursday when attackers hurled a grenade into a restaurant in a popular coastal tourist resort town of Diani. The Shebab claimed the brutal September assault on Nairobi’s upmarket Westgate mall in which at least 67 people died in a four-day siege of the shopping centre popular with foreigners. The Shebab on Wednesday evening set off twin bombs at a hotel in the Somali capital, killing 11. It claimed the attack was the start of its campaign for the new year. vanguardngrnews: #Breakingnews: Bomb blast wounds one in Kenyan capital - Vanguard News http:///PMM4aFRvA6 via @vanguardngrnews Nigeria |
