Sometimes its impossible for some people to see beyond their Noses. Appreciating the Bigger picture is something that is missing from some Brains ! Nevertheless Nigeria will Make it Nigeria will emerge a global giant Boko or No boko Our help is in the name of the Lord GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
On the 23rd of september 2012 President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan rang the Closing bell at the New York stock exchange Becoming the first Nigerian Leader in history to do so . Why many critics have argued about the significance of this landmark event it is important to Note that the global economic community is becoming increasingly aware of the rising significance of the Nigerian Economy. Analysts have projected that the Nigerian Economy will overtake the South African economy as early as 2015 after the rebasing of the formers GDP to cover previously un captured Sectors of the economy. A media alert from the New York stock exchange shows that the prime Minister of Japan Mr Shinzo Abe is scheduled to ring the Closing bell at NYSE on the 25th of September while the president of the Italian council of ministers will ring the opening bell on the same day and the opposition in those countries are not dragging them to the slaughter house. Its quite unfortunate that when comes to Nigeria even the most trivial of things is politicised, politicians look for every avenue to criticise without providing alternative ideas on how the country can move forward . Any country that ignores the New york stock exchange does so at the detriment of her own economy ,and that is why a country like Japan the worlds third Largest economy is making its presence felt at the Exchange. The New York Stock Exchange is by far the largest stock exchange in the world by market capitalization of listed companies. The NASDAQ electronic exchange has the most companies listed and is second largest in the world by market capitalization of listed companies. If Nigeria is to become a global player it must join the league of countries who market themselves on the big stage ,taking part global economic events and remaining in the Global economic spotlight. This is a necessity if we must take our rightful place among the committee of Nations . Oche Joseph .O Motivational speaker |
Atiku was Chairman of NCP and El rufai was his Boi Boi at BPE. This was their score card 1. Nitel - big fiasco 2. Daily times - comatose Asset stripped 3 . Alscon 3.2Bn dollars sold for $130 million 4 . Ajaokuta steel messed up 5.Many more 80% of the companies privatised by Atiku and Elrufai are not working today. Only in a country like Nigeria will a man like Atiku who undersold the SNO license to Globacom in return for half the company will come and be preaching transparency to a sitting president ! GOD BLESS NIGERIA |

We have noted with regret the continuation today by SaharaReporters.com of its usual scurrilous and baseless attacks on the Jonathan Administration with publication of a false claim that the President is leading a 600- man delegation to the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. While we trust that discerning members of the public who are already very familiar with SaharaReporters’ usual fare of mischief, outright falsehood and erroneous speculation will rightly dismiss this latest claim as a fresh manifestation of the online medium’s ill-will towards President Jonathan and his administration, we wish to affirm for the benefit of the unwary that there is absolutely no truth in the allegation that the President took a 600-man delegation to New York. There is also no substance to the rehashed charge of profligacy which SaharaReporters annually makes against the President when he leads Nigeria’s delegation to the UN General Assembly. The truth is that less than 30 persons arrived in New York with the President this morning as members of his entourage. Other than them, the only other persons who are in New York for the UN General Assembly with the President’s knowledge and approval are relevant ministers and few essential aides. President Jonathan’s official delegation is definitely not out of proportion with Nigeria’s size, role and relevance in Africa and the global community. SaharReporters’ claim that the President’s delegation is the largest at this year’s General Assembly is an unjustifiable fabrication which can never stand any rigorous test of truthfulness. We are certainly aware that many Nigerian citizens are currently on visits to New York. These persons are here for their own purposes and neither President Jonathan nor his administration has any responsibility for the presence of these persons in New York. We will not be surprised if it is such persons who include Nigerian businessmen who are here for an African Business Roundtable event, members of non-governmental organizations and tourists that SaharaReporters has been counting, for the sole purpose of mischief-making, as “members of the Nigerian delegation”. A mother has spoken of her shock after she gave birth to a baby with two fully formed front teeth. Vicki Griffiths had planned to breastfeed little Eva Faith but changed her mind after seeing the newborn’s teeth. Eva astounded nurses and midwives as well as her family when she was born weighing 7lbs 4oz at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. Initially, nobody realised and it was only when Mrs Griffiths went to have a bath after giving birth that her husband Steven spotted the teeth in his daughter’s lower jaw. Mrs Griffiths, a 26-year-old child minder, said: ‘When I came back into the room Steven said, “she’s got teeth, you know!” and then we both burst out laughing. ‘We were in shock, and so were the midwives. ‘She had her mouth closed to begin with, so we didn’t notice. It was quite bizarre to see them.’ She added: ‘I had been planning to breastfeed, but when I saw Eva’s teeth I was put off. I don’t think anybody could blame me!’ Mr and Mrs Griffiths now worry that Eva will soon start sprouting more teeth before she is old enough to have Calpol or other children’s medicine. The mother-of-three said: ‘I kept asking the midwives and nurses what I could give Eva if she was in pain, but nobody was able to answer me. ‘They just kept going away and then coming back with more people to look at Eva’s teeth. Nobody could believe it. ‘When we came out of hospital I went to see my GP and he said that he had never heard of this happening before. ‘Midwives with 25-years’ experience were also saying they’d never seen it.’ Little Eva Faith was born on September 8 and is now at home with her parents and older sisters Elizabeth, seven, and Emily, five, in Redcar, Cleveland. At first Mrs Griffiths thought the teeth would have to be removed in case Eva were to choke on them, but she was checked over by a paediatrician who said they were stable enough not to present a problem. Eva is now thriving on bottled milk and delighting all that meet her with her unusual feature. Mrs Griffiths added: ‘Eva often has her mouth open, especially after she has woken up. ‘A professional baby photographer came round to take some pictures, and she simply could not believe it. Everyone thinks Eva is lovely, but can’t get over her teeth.’ Jonathan Wyllie, consultant neonatologist at James Cook, said: ‘It probably happens about three times every two years here and we deliver 4,000 babies a year. It’s every 2,000 to 3,000 births. ‘Babies are born with one or two teeth and it’s usually in the lower gum.’ www.ynaija.com/bizarre-this-baby-girl-was-born-with-fully-formed-front-teeth-photos/?utm_source=Y!&utm_medium=twitter

CO-ORDINATING Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has dismissed calls for her to resign, stressing that she cannot do so while the economy is doing well. Her reaction came on the heels of the call by the Governor Rotimi Amaechi-led Governors’ Forum for her to quit the stage following what the governors described as non-performance in the discharge of her duties to the nation. The minister, who was asked whether she would heed the governor’s call and resign, said: “Do I look like a person who wants to resign? I dey Kampe.” According to her, the administration was creating jobs and that is the main focus of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s government. “I want to start from job creation because this is the main way that Nigerians feel the impact of what is being done by this administration. This is an issue that Mr President had insisted on and focused on. “Now, in agriculture where we are seeing a strong results, over 2.5 million seasonal and full- time jobs have been created. When I say seasonal, for example, in rice, 460,000 of the jobs created were seasonal. But overall, over 2.5 million jobs have been created. “In nine commodity chains, in cassava, in soghum, in oil palm, in cotton, cocoa, dry season rice, rainy season rice, maize, etc. So, we are creating jobs for skilled and unskilled people in this very important area of the economy,” she said, adding that investments were being done in the manaufacturing sector. In the area of manufactruing, she said, “specific investments are going in. Indorama company is making an investment of $1.2 billion in petrochemicals, fertiliser, particularly. They have already closed on the financing for this investment to be situated in Port Harcourt and the environs. Then, Proter & Gamble of the US that has built a new factory and they have invested $250 million in manufacturing baby products.” www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/news/item/21943-i-wont-resign,-the-economy-is-doing-well,-says-okonjo-iweala.html |
A Southwark Crown Court yesterday heard from a British prosecutor, Sasha Wass, how convicted former Delta State governor James Ibori passed himself off to a Swiss private bank in 2004 as being the owner of an Insurance coy, half owner of a bank and owning 30 percent of indigenous oil firm – Oando, which paid $1.2 million into his account that year. The court also heard that PKB Private bank had in an internal document likened Ibori, who governed Delta State from 1999 to 2007, to a scion of the Kennedy dynasty in the United States. Ibori was convicted in February 2012 in the UK after he pleaded guilty to 10 counts of fraud and money-laundering worth 50 million pounds ($79.5 million). Prosecutors say his total wealth was likely to be far greater than that. Details of Ibori’s assets and how he kept them from public knowledge through a maze of shell companies and off shore bank accounts are being revealed as part of a three-week confiscation hearing which began in London on Monday. Prosecutor Sasha Wass told the court that while opening an account at Swiss bank, PKB, through a shell company called Stanhope Investment, Mr. Ibori told the bank he owns 30 per cent of Oando. Quoting from internal PKB documents, Ms. Wass said the former governor presented himself as the owner of an insurance company and 50 per cent owner of a Nigerian Bank. She said that a total of $1.2 million (N180 million) flowed into the PKB account from Oando in three instalments that year which had later been funneled into other accounts and were part of funds intended for the purchase of a $20 million (N3 billion) private jet. This is contrary to a statement by Oando on Monday which claimed that Ibori had only an “insignificant” holding in the firm adding that it had sold $2.7 million of its foreign exchange earnings for naira in 2004 to a company that had later turned out to be controlled by Ibori; a fact it did not know that at the time. It was learnt that following news of Ibori’s involvement with Oando, its shares dipped 10 per cent at the stock market on Tuesday and might still suffer more slip ups in the coming weeks. Ms. Wass told the court yesterday that despite his assets being restrained in 2008, Ibori had after that date continued to live a lavish lifestyle, travel and pay fees to the English boarding school where his three children were being educated. Coupled with his unenviable track record of hiding assets, this led to the “irresistible inference” by investigators that Ibori had further hidden assets which had not yet been uncovered, Ms. Wass said, adding that one option of where these might be, was Oando. Wass also quoted from an internal PKB report from 2004 which said Ibori came from one of a few Nigerian families which had for decades developed Nigeria’s oil industry. “We could compare these families with the Kennedy dynasty which also mixed business and politics,” the bank document said. Another excerpt said Ibori was “an extremely rich man as he was doing a lot of business before becoming governor”.
