Beverly1: Hi fellow Nlanders
I was born into Catholic faith and practice till I was 12 and I enjoyed it. My parent became deeper life member while we were living apart and now a pastor in that church. I re-united with them when I was 12 and since then I've been attending the church with them and still attend Catholic occasionally....I love the preaching from the founder of deeper life as he preaches the bitter truth but I believe most other young pastor see d church "doctrine" as commandment and so must be kept 100%.....the founder of the church addressed this issue several times but NO.
18 years on since we re-united, I'm a graduate, married and living abroad but my father still forcing his believe and doctrine on me. I considered myself spiritual but not so religious. I connect with my God easily but not a 3G church guy.
He made me and my siblings antisocial and introverted simply because he believed we shouldn't be involved in any social activities even sports. I still remember being beaten for playing soccer, he believes we would be influenced badly. Watching TV was a crime especially movies.
Fast forward to yesterday he rang my wife to check on us but the first question he asked was if we attend to church. I told him it's been raining and temperature was really low....then he started lamenting asking if I won't go to work if it wasn't Sunday, complaining about the country where I can't worship God...then to get me more exasperated he asked and insisted I tell him how many time I've been to church lately and how many times I've read d bible....I told him we've been attending but he insisted on a number.
This got me so mad that I stood up for myself under a heavy breathe as I do not want to disrespect him or hangup on him.I told him I do not appreciate being asked questions like a 10 yrs old boy and at my age I should know how to live my life and what's best for me.....he got angry and said goodbye and I guess he was still on d phone but I didn't know...I just hang up.....Now I've block him from reaching me ... planning to change my numbers.....but not any financial support. Only cutting all communication with him but not with my siblings as they mean more to me and I wanna see them through as much as God help me...
Please is this not an over reaction because I loved him as he's a very responsible man who puts the family first and strived to make us who we are. But we do not av a close relationship because of his believe even though he's been forcing it. You are foolish for doing what you did.. He knows and want the best for you.. What right do you have in disrespecting him and God? He only want you to be grounded in God's word.. Rain is falling, I will follow Jesus, Sun is shining I will follow Jesus. He asked a simple and straight forward question, if rain was falling , won't you go to work? you respected the work more than the person who gave you the work which is God. Make straight your ways. A word is enough for the wise. |

Politics › Re: Nigeria'll Be Ahead Of France, UK Economically By 2050 If..... Soludo by Ochinex(m): 10:24pm On Jul 01, 2017 |
omohayek: I think people who are criticizing Soludo have misunderstood what he was saying. He wasn't predicting that the average Nigerian could have a comparable standard of living to the British and the French by 2050, he was saying that the entire Nigerian economy could be larger than that of each of those European countries, which is not as far-fetched as it sounds.
Given a current Nigerian GDP of $500 billion (vs $2.8 trillion for the UK, $2.4 trillion for France), the Nigerian economy would only have to grow at 10% per year (vs. the normal 2% long-run growth in Europe) to have surpassed both countries in total GDP in 33 years, as 8% relative growth means a relative doubling every 9 years. 10% annual growth is not outrageous, as countries like China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan have all managed it when they were developing, so there's no fundamental reason why Nigeria couldn't manage it, given good leadership, and this is the point Soludo is really getting at: the opportunity cost, in terms of wasted growth opportunities, of doing things the way Nigeria has always done them has been tremendous.
The average Nigerian could have been 2-3x times better off by now if the country's government 30 years ago were competent and growth-oriented, rather than being just one long succession of clueless thieves in khaki who finally handed over to clueless thieves in agbada and babariga. Unfortunately most Nigerians can't conceive of politics as being about anything more than sharing out of "national cake" by the FG, and care more about the tribe and religion of those who represent them, instead of what they know and what they plan to do once in office.
Haha sorry oh, I am playing with you guys $484.895 billion you meant |

flyingsnail: Plan to make Osinbajo president will fail - Arewa youths tell Yoruba leaders
A coalition of Arewa Youths have accused Yoruba leaders of paving way for Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to become Nigeria's president. The coalition in a statement signed by its Muhammed Shehu and Tanko Abdullahi said the Yoruba leaders are out to discredit the North in order for Osinbajo to become the president. The duo said after the coalition's meeting in Daura, Kastina state, the group has come to the conclusion that it will resist every plan of the Yoruba leaders.
The coalition said it will ensure that the Northern region completes its eight-year tenure irrespective of whatever happens. “We shall resist every of such plans and ensure by all means possible, that the north completes its eight-year tenure and possibly even continue after then, and that the federal structure of Nigeria as it currently is, is not tampered with by secession mongers and their collaborators," the coalition said. The coalition which claims to speak for all the youth in the North said the Yoruba's have proved to be the 'most ungrateful stock in Nigeria'.
"Having given power to the Yoruba on a platter of gold in 1999 as a way of compensating them for the June 12 saga, it is quite worrisome and unfortunate that they have lived up to their legendary reputation of backstabbing and betrayal by supporting the divisive calls for restructuring or dismemberment of the nation against the will and desire of the north," the statement said. "We gave the late Chief MKO Abiola the mandate in 1993 but shortly after that, as it is with the Yoruba as a culture, they immediately started circling around Abiola plotting on how to emasculate the north and strip us of every access we had to the politics and economy of this nation. “They had also raised a secret army of their elites to carry out these sinister plans against the north if Abiola eventually became president. It was this army that was unleashed on the nation in the guise of NADECO during the June 12 impasse.
May we remind the Yoruba that without the willingness and magnanimity of the north, there was no way Abiola could have purportedly won that election, and that all the Yoruba have now as assets in the south west, especially Lagos, were given to them by our leaders out of our own usual magnanimity. However, time and time again, the Yoruba have always turned their back on us whenever their support is needed. They have chosen to pitch tent with the Igbo this time around just to spite us, but we shall not succumb to their antics," the coalition added.
NAIJ.com had reported that the leader of another Arewa group, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) Shettima Yerima has promised to turn himself in once appropriate security agencies declares him wanted. Shettima reacting to reports that he had gone into hiding in Chad said: “I did not go into hiding and will never go into hiding. We need to put the record straight. For now, nobody is looking for me and I am ready to submit myself if I am called. I am not a joker. "Nobody is looking for me and I am not hiding anywhere from anybody. I am in my village, I am a Nigerian. If anybody looks for me, I will submit myself. I am not above the law. I am not on the run.”
