PoliticsTinubu Won’t Discriminate Against Any Faith, Tribe – Coalition Of Muslim Women by OddsDoc(op): 10:06pm On Dec 02, 2022
The Coalition of Muslim Women for Asiwaju, COMWA, has assured that the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will not discriminate against any faith or tribe if elected president of Nigeria in 2023.

Chairperson of the group, Rasheedah Adebari gave this assurance while speaking in an interview with Politics Hub, a Vanguard Online TV’s political show on Friday.

The COMWA chairperson, in the course of the interview, told the anchor of the TV show, Damilola Ogunsakin that the Tinubu is the most tolerant presidential candidate for 2023.

She said, “We see Tinubu as a man who shows the true federalism. He is highly tolerant. He is not biased, doesn’t disregard the tribe you come from or the religion you’re practicing. He is a man that has touched everywhere; either from West, to South or from the North to the East.

“It’s not until a candidate is a Muslim before you can support him, but it’s by some certain qualities. We are supporting him because of his tolerance and he has brought this to the limelight of politics. He is understanding on basis of diversity and religion. These are the qualities that can not be left out.

“We are not supporting Tinubu because he is a Muslim. Before now, he is somebody, who has already built his empire, with outstanding personality. If you trace his successors very well, you will see that in the ratio of 2:5, he has more of Christians behind him more than Muslims. Our faith doesn’t give room for anybody that has sentiment based on religion,” Adebari added.

PoliticsI Will Stop Subsidy Payment On Petrol – PRP Presidential Candidate, Kola Abiola by OddsDoc(op): 9:13pm On Dec 02, 2022
Presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Kola Abiola has promised to stop payment of subsidy on petroleum products.

Kola Abiola made this promise while speaking in an interview with Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday.

He said, “We are growing to run a market economy to create liquidity first and that doesn’t mean government will not step in from time to time.

“The oil and gas is very germane, we have corruption, we have leakages, but more importantly our production is too low. We need to at least reduce 3 million barrels a day to make the number work. We need to stop importing fuel.

“We need to reestablish domestic production. We need to get the value added from our oil. After 63 years of crude oil production, we are still importing products and all we do is export. All these will be stopped,”
he said.

Similarly, the PRP candidate also vowed to improve on the welfare standard of the men of the Nigeria Armed Forces.

He said, “We nee to address the security architecture. The will is there, we need to ensure implementation and look at the welfare of our armed forces.

“If you meet a bandit leader and he says there’s no difference between you and us, what would you say?

“The trust has been eroded, the common man cannot feel the presence of a government, I’m coming with zeal to change this mindset,” he said.

The PRP presidential candidate stated that Nigerians must vote for their future, adding that “it is not about sentiment.”

Recall that Kola Abiola, had earlier in the year declared that he will win next year’s election by repeating his father, late MKO Abiola’s feat during the June 12, 1993 election.

The PRP presidential candidate said he was out to disrupt the process and win next year’s election.

He explained that he led the campaign planning and execution that earned his late father “victory” during the controversial election when he was 28 years.

The PRP candidate vowed to adopt grassroots approach and pursue a recruitment drive that “will change the face of politics in Nigeria.”

Similarly he said he wanted to “reset” Nigeria with his party, which is one of the oldest in the country.

He said, “I want to be president because I believe it is time for complete reset of Nigeria. And I did not make any mistake by joining PRP. I did my homework thoroughly before joining the PRP. And I joined it because it is the only party that has no baggage, no problems or legacy issues. It is the only party that can convince the younger generation to get involved in the game, and not just to elect leaders.”

Kola Abiola also said he was not intimidated by other more popular candidates from other political parties, saying he was confident of his chances to win them even in the North.

“The chances of Kola Abiola is a surprise factor. Check the whole northern states, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa states, I will win those states again for PRP,” he said.

Kola Abiola is the first child of late M.K.O Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 annulled presidential election.

PoliticsOshiomhole Unstable – Atiku by OddsDoc(op): 11:06pm On Dec 01, 2022
The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization has described the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole as an unstable character that should not be taken serious by Nigerians.

The Atiku campaign organization made the comment in reaction to Oshiomhole’s remark in an interview Channels TV’s Politics Today.

Oshiomhole, who is Deputy Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Organization, had, in the interview, labeled Atiku as ‘serial betrayer’ and a ‘serial divorcee,’ who can not unite Nigeria.

On the show, Oshiomole had said, “You (Atiku) can’t manage your household, you are a serial divorcee and you want to preach unity and family to me?”

“PDP governors said we can’t trust him(Atiku), every agreement we made with him, he broke it; he is a serial betrayer of agreements,” he added.

In reaction to Oshiomhole’s comments, the Atiku campaign organization said Nigerians are appalled by the reckless comments made by the former governor.

The team noted that Oshiomhole is distraught by the increasing popularity of the PDP Presidential Candidate and has now resorted to hauling insults and vituperations against the person of Atiku.

The Atiku’s team said, “…This can only explain why the former APC National Chairman, who was disgraced out of office, continues as a chattering roller coaster and a musical chair politician, who specializes in making unfounded comments and inventing fictitious claims against others just to draw undue attention to himself.

“Nigerians can recall how Oshiomhole in 2016 described Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as an impostor, a fake pastor, rusticated student, a career dropout, acid bath assailant, liar, treasury looter; an incompetent and questionable character, who is only good for night meetings and not fit to be the governor of Edo state, only to turn around in 2020 to state that these damaging allegations were mere political statements.

“Nigerians expect Adams Oshiomhole to note that the presidential campaign addresses serious issues and is not a platform for throwing tantrums and irresponsible commentaries.

“In that regard, Nigerians are not ready to accept such an apparent HPD attitude from him towards the nation’s preferred leader, Atiku Abubakar.

“In any case, Nigerians will not be surprised to see Adams Oshiomhole turning around at Atiku Abubakar’s inevitable victory and inauguration on May 29, 2023, to condemn Asiwaju Tinubu and declare his current unsavory comments against Atiku Abubakar as mere political statements.

“If Oshiomhole has honour or means well for this nation, he ought to have resigned as Deputy Director General of Asiwaju/Shettima Presidential Campaign after series of shameful revelations of reported allegations touching on the integrity of the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Our campaign holds that contrary to the garments of unity which Oshiomhole is forcing on Tinubu, the Presidential Candidate of the APC lacks antecedents that will showcase him as a believer in a truly united and indivisible Nigeria.”

The Atiku team added that “It is imperative to note this accounts for the discussion gaining traction in the public space where Asiwaju Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, is alleged to be plotting the relocation of the Federal Capital from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, back to Lagos, despite denials by his campaign.

“Moreover, Oshiomhole is not in any position to preach about matrimonial competence and sanctimony as he has not explained the whereabouts of his imported foreign wife to Nigerians.

“It is important for Oshiomhole to note that Nigerians have moved beyond Tinubu as they have already attained consensus across the political, ethnic and religious divides to vote in Atiku Abubakar as a pan-Nigerian and unifier that will rescue our nation from the shambolic rule of the divisive, insensitive and corrupt APC.

“Of course, Nigerian have come to a consensus that our nation needs a visionary leader, like Atiku Abubakar and certainly not a bat with its inadequacies, specie inconsistencies and aversion to light.”

He asked Okupe to provide evidence of any payment in respect of membership dues prior to December 1, 2022 into any bank account of the LP.

He asked the National Chairman of the party, Barr. Julius Abure and the party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, to obey the party’s Constitution by relieving Okupe of his position as DG of PCC immediately and appoint another DG for the body, who should come from the North to reflect federal characters and political balance.

Ashade hinged the action on article 9(3)xi of the party’s constitution providing that “only fully registered and financially up to date members of the party shall have the right to vie for office in the Ward Executive, Local Government Area Executive, State Executive Councils and the National Working Committee of the Party or be a delegate to the Congresses and the National Convention.”

He said, “Article 9(3) iii of our Party’s Constitution states as follows: ‘only members who pay their monthly membership dues at rates prescribed shall be deemed to be bonafide members of the party. Arrears of dues of up to six months shall lead to forfeiture of membership.’’

“Despite repeated demand from various meetings I had with Dr. Doyin Okupe in respect of his mandatory constitutional requirements to fulfill membership status, he has failed woefully in this regards with some others to flagrantly disobey the Constitution of Labour party.

“We hereby notify our National Chairman, Bar Julius Abure and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, that it’s expedient to obey the Constitution of the party by immediately appoint another DG for the PCC and that should come from the North to reflect Federal Characters and political balance.”

He warned that any further act of disobedience by any of the affected former party members would be resisted through lawful means of enforcement in the Court of competent jurisdiction, stressing that the SEC of the party was committed to party supremacy as enshrined in Labour Party constitution.

He further warned that legal action would taken against the National Chairman, Barr. Abure and the presidential candidate, Peter Obi, if they failed or foot drag to relieve Doyin Okupe of his position in the party’s campaign council.

To fill the positions of those whose membership of LP were terminated, the State Executive Council approved their replacement in acting capacity.

The council therefore appointed Mr. Theo Igbozuruike as Acting Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Oladimeji Elizabeth Temidayo, Ag.State Women Leader, Babaseun Ogunyemi, Ag.Dep. State Chairman II, Mr. Adebiyi Adekunle, Ag.State Youth Leader and Mr. Olaniyi Shobajo, Acting State Treasurer.

PoliticsState Govs Responsible For Rising Poverty In Nigeria – FG by OddsDoc(op): 11:03pm On Nov 30, 2022
The Federal Government said state governors were responsible for the rising rate of poverty in the country.

The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clement Agba, made this assertion at a press briefing in the State House in Abuja on Wednesday, shortly after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by the President Muhammadu Buhari.

The FG blamed the governors for priotising the construction of heavy pieces of infrastructure such as bridges and airports in cities rather than improving the lives of the rural poor.

According to the Federeal Government, 72% of Nigeria’s poor live in neglected rural communities.

Agba said the governors had abandoned the critical demography, preferring to spend state resources on the capital cities instead.

WHO WILL WIN THE 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION? BET NOW on www.naijabet.com

He said, “The governors are basically functioning in their state capitals. And democracy that we preach about is delivering the greatest goods to the greatest number of people. And from our demography, it shows that the greatest number of our people live in rural areas, but the governors are not working in the rural areas.

“Right now 70 per cent of our people live in rural areas. They produce 90 per cent of what we eat. And unfortunately 60 per cent of what they produce is lost due to post harvest loss and it does not get to the market.

“I think from the Federal Government’s side we are doing our best. But we need to say that rather than governors continuing to compete to take loans to build airports that are not necessary, where they have other airports so close to them, or governors now competing to build flyovers all over the place, we appeal that they should concentrate on building rural roads so that the farmer can at least get their products to the market.”

Citing the findings of a recent survey he conducted across the 109 senatorial districts nationwide, the Minister said Sokoto state ranked the highest on the poverty scale, followed by the oil-rich state of Bayelsa.

“The result clearly shows that 72 per cent of poverty is in the rural areas. It also showed clearly that Sokoto State is leading in poverty with 91 per cent.

WHO WILL WIN THE 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION? BET NOW on www.naijabet.com

“But the surprising thing is Bayelsa being the second in terms of poverty rating in the country. So, you see the issue is not about availability of money. But it has to do with the application of money,” he said.

Agba lamented that despite the federal government’s intervention to alleviate poverty, the results did not reflect the amount of investment made in the area.

He said, “In the course of working on the national development plan, we looked at previous plans and asked why they didn’t do as much as expected. We also looked at the issues of the National Social Investment Programme.

“At the federal level, the government is putting out so much money but not seeing so much reflection in terms of money that has been put into alleviating poverty, which is one of the reasons the government also put in place the national poverty reduction with growth strategy.

“But if the federal government puts the entire income that it earns into all of this without some form of complementarity from the state governments in playing their part, it will seem as if we are throwing money in the pond.”

WHO WILL WIN THE 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION? BET NOW on www.naijabet.com

On food inflation, Agba said though states were in charge of agricultural land, they did not invest in them for the desired effect on their rural citizens.

He noted that farm products were affordable at the point of harvest but became expensive due to poor rural-urban roads, causing supply chain disruptions.

“UNIDO report shows us in terms of employment, the MSMEs employ 70 per cent of our people. So, you can imagine how much progress we will make when there are roads and power in these rural areas.

“In terms of agriculture, you find out that the federal government doesn’t have land that they would plant. The government has pushed for the Anchor Borrowers programme and that is going on very well but the state control lands states. They are the ones to provide land for agriculture. They are not investing in that. They would rather build skyscrapers in a city where people will see and clap but the skyscrapers do not put food on the table.

“When we’re talking about food prices, like I mentioned right now is driving inflation, prices of food at the farm gates are low. But when you now take it to the urban areas, you find out that the prices are high due to supply chain disruptions or lack of infrastructure to take them there,” he said.

Agba urged state governors to channel their resources into providing “food, nutrition, housing and clothing for our people before we begin to think of how to go to the moon and begin to build flyovers and airports in the state capital.”

PoliticsOshiomole: Atiku Can’t Manage His Household; Preach Unity In Nigeria by OddsDoc(op): 10:43pm On Nov 30, 2022
A former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Adams Oshiomhole said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar does not have the moral justification to preach unity in Nigeria.

Oshiomole made this assertion while speaking in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.

He said, “You (Atiku) can’t manage your household, you are a serial divorcee and you want to preach unity and family to me?”

According to the former governor of Edo state, Atiku is a “serial betrayer” and the “weakest” of all the frontline candidates for the 2023 presidential election.

Oshiomhole, a deputy director general of the Presidential Campaign Council of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, said Atiku is the “weakest link right now among the three leading candidates” including Tinubu and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

He said Atiku lacks character and consistency having moved from the PDP to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), back to the PDP and to the APC and finally to the PDP since 1999.

“For Atiku, if he is not the candidate, he takes a flight to Dubai. But you are talking of someone who upon leaving office, supported his wife rather than himself, talk of selfless service and gender equality.

“It speaks to character. When you have sense of belief, you cannot be jumping from one party to the other every other election,” he said.

According to the former governor, Atiku’s ambition is just about himself and not about Nigeria

He also said Atiku cannot be trusted as echoed by aggrieved PDP governors known as the G5 or the Integrity Group.

“PDP governors said we can’t trust him, every agreement we made with him, he broke it; he is a serial betrayer of agreements,” he said.

PoliticsFinance Minister Blames N206bn Padding In Budget On ‘wrong Coding’ by OddsDoc(op): 10:46pm On Nov 29, 2022
Minister of Finance, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed Wednesday cleared the air on the allegations of N206 billion inserted in the 2023 budget of the ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development.

In a special meeting with the House of Representatives committee on Appropriation which invited her alongside the Director General of the Budget Office, Ben Akubeze, and the affected minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, Ahmed said that there was a wrong coding of the projects.

She said the monetary provision was made for the social safety nets projects, stressing that it was an 800 dollars project that has been approved by the board of the world bank and the federal executive council.

According to her, the loan was fully negotiated by the government of Nigeria with the full involvement of the ministry of humanitarian affairs.

She said: “The 2023 Budget proposal has been prepared with the utmost sincerity of purpose and in line with established regulations and procedures. Over the past week, there has been a lot of misinformation in the media regarding certain provisions in the 2023 budget totaling N423.8bn

WHO WILL WIN THE 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION? BET NOW on www.naijabet.com

“The expenditures questioned are mostly related to provisions for multilateral and bilateral loan-funded projects. It is instructive that all these projects are now the subject of controversy and were included in the budgets of the MDAs which were transmitted to the supervising Ministers for their review and feedback on 4 October 2022 before the presentation to both the FEC and NASS.

“Until these recent controversies, none of the concerned MDAs raised any issues on the projects with our ministry.

“Traditionally, Multilateral/Bilateral financial institutions provide project-tied loans to the Federal government of Nigeria.

“These loans were previously not fully captured in the FGN budget; only the provisions for counterpart funds & debt service were included in the FGN budget. So, in 2021, we realized there was a gap that was underreporting and in 2021 and 2022 we started making this report.

“The sum of N206,242,395,000 was provided in the budget of the humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development to provide for the social safety need project. This is an 800 dollars project that has been approved by the board of the world bank and approved by the federal executive council. This loan was fully negotiated by the government of Nigeria with the full involvement of the ministry of humanitarian affairs.

“This project is domiciled in the FAHADM&SD Headquarters. The World Bank is the funding source for the project, with the projected drawdown of $473,500,000, which is equivalent to N206,242,395,000, using the N435.57/USD exchange rate applicable to the 2023 budget.

“This project was correctly described in the submission from IERD for the 2023 budget, but regrettably, a wrong code was inadvertently used in the process of inputting it, which resulted in it being captured as Purchase of Security Equipment in the GIFMIS Budget Preparation System (BPS), which has a limited dropdown range of project descriptions/codes

“The same project was correctly captured in the 2022 budget of the FAHADMSD in the amount of N12,304,500,000 [ERGP1180310], based on the projected drawdown of $30m at N410.15/$ 2022 budget exchange rate.”

Ahmed also said that the same situation occured in the ministries of defence and power respectively, ruling out wrongful insertions.

“The Honourable Minister of Defence wrote to Mr. President requesting the immediate release of $1,363,880.40 and N158,928,045.37 to implement Phase 1 of the project. HM-MoD also requested the sums of $12,274,923.60 and N11,946,311,375.18 to implement Phases 2 and 3 of the project, all of which Mr. President graciously approved.

“Further to Mr President’s approval, 50% of the requirement for Phases 2 & 3, amounting to N8,600,000,000 (using the exchange rate of N435.57/USD), has been included in the 2023 budget proposal of the MoD.

“The 2023 proposed budget for the FMoP includes a total of N195,465,151,790.65 MBPL with a breakdown as follows:

The amount in question here relates to the 2022 budget, during which it had a projected loan drawdown of $30m equivalent to N12,304,500,000 (@ exchange rate of N410.15/USD). The issue relating to this arose from the NASS committee’s review of FME’s 2022 budget implementation.

“The current issues would have been easily clarified between the respective MDAs and the FMFBNP had the affected agencies followed the established budget processes.

“The proposed 2023 budget for each ministry was circulated for review and feedback, then presented at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) before it was submitted to NASS by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“It is noteworthy that the total amount of multilateral/bilateral loan-funded projects included in the 2023 budget is N1,771,404,182,322, involving a total of 14 implementing ministries.

“The aggregate projected multilateral/bilateral loan drawdown and expenditure of N1,771,404,182,322 is shown on Lines 271 and 301 of the MTEF/FSP approved by FEC and presented to NASS. It is also shown on Lines 182 – 195 on page 12 of the 2023 Appropriation Bill.

“So far, no issues have been raised in relation to the multilateral /bilateral loan-funded projects by the other ministries

“It is evident that there are internal coordination issues between the PIUs in some MDAs and the CEOs/Accounting officers of the implementing ministries. We will be taking necessary actions to ensure that this is addressed going forward

“Finally, let me state clearly that the allegation that the FMNBNP “padded” the budgets of the affected MDAs by inserting the projects in question makes absolutely no sense. If the projects are in the budgets of these MDAs, the FMBNP cannot procure them, as their procurement can only be handled by the concerned MDAs.

“Specifically, for multilateral/bilateral funded projects, the PIUs are domiciled in the designated implementing MDAs, and the lenders will not deal with any other agency, including FMBNP, on their procurements”.

Also testifying before the committee, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of humanitarian affairs who represented the minister said at no time did they go to the media to discuss the issue of budget padding.

He said: “I bring the apologies of the minister. She tried to reach you to express her inability to be present today. She’s unavoidably absent. That’s why she gave me permission to represent her. We did not go on air explaining anything about this issue of the budget. I was there present on the committee.

“It was not the ministry of humanitarian affairs. The minister was asked a question and when she noted the code, she said she did not understand and that she will get clarification the chairman obliged that more clarification will be brought and the matter was put to rest.

“One of the members in the summary insinuated that there is padding and what was what the press took. So, the minister of humanitarian never mentioned padding. She requested time to correct this mistake she observed and that is what the minister of finance has clarified. Two, we did not go to the media refuting or challenging rather we wrote a letter seeking clarification and that was given to us promptly.”

The chairman of the House Committee, Hon. Aliyu Betara in his remarks expressed displeasure with the ministry for not seeking clarification but running to the media with the issue, saying that the lawmakers were not happy.

He also lambasted the minister for not honoring their invitations, asking her to quit the job of she was tired of it.

“Permanent Secretary, to my understanding, your minister is in town. She doesn’t want to appear before this committee and you are going into the media, going out telling them different things about our budget. She needs to come in here and tell the committee what really happened with your budget.

“When the president lays the budget normally there are little mistakes within the budget. The Minister through the DG, Budget Office writes to us in Appropriation Committee with my senator counterpart, of the humanitarian to notify us of the change of the workings within the line items.

“That was the main reason I was looking for your minister at that time to tell her that we have a copy from the ministry of finance for that amendment. This budget we are having is not an act but a proposal. Everything in this budget can be amended.

“For your ministry, if you see that kind of issue within the budget, you would have contacted the chairman of the committee within the house, liaise with me and not go to the media. That is the main reason we called this minister to iron out the issues. We are not happy.

“Equally with the Ministry of defense. I have a copy of the letter from the Minister of Finance, written to the President, his approval to give the ministry money. I am having issues with the same committee here. Both committees in the house and senate.

“They want to remove the money. If he says he does not know about the approval, this is a copy of the approval from the president. It is the same minister that we have invited now to tell the committee about the approval and if the committee should remove that money, nobody should fault the appropriation committee. They have the right. We have invited him to come here.

“He would have come to the committee chair and said he has discussed with the Ministry of Finance and they understand themselves. But we are hearing it from the Minister of Finance, without him here. So PS please tell you, Minister, it is not even about the appropriation committee inviting. She has issues with her committees in the House.

“Most times they invite her, but she does not come to appear before the committee. So it is wrong. If she is not ready for the job, let her quit. The chairmen are complaining. In our report now, they could not submit a report to the humanitarian ministry. So PS talk to her. She would have appeared here to clear herself”.

In their respective remarks, the deputy chairman of the committee and the spokesman of the House, Hon. Benjamin Kalu called for greater synergy between the Ministries and the parliament to prevent misinformation that will dent the image of the government in general.

PoliticsWhy I’ll Never Attend Arise News Presidential Town Hall Meeting – Tinubu by OddsDoc(op): 11:01pm On Nov 25, 2022
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has maintained that he will not grant Arise News invitation to attend its presidential town hall meeting.

Tinubu, made this assertion in a statement signed and made available to Vanguard by Bayo Onanuga, the Director, Media & Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council on Friday.

The APC presidential candidate expressed concern over an advertisement by Arise News in connection with a Town Hall meeting scheduled for 4 December.

The statement reads, “We are surprised that the TV station listed our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a participant, when there was no prior consultation with him and his aides and no consent of the candidate obtained for the advertisement.

“We deem this as professionally wrong and reckless. No media organisation should arrogate to itself the right to railroad any candidate to fit into its own agenda.

“As we said in an earlier statement, the busy and hectic campaign schedules of Asiwaju Tinubu will not permit him to honour all invitations from different radio and TV stations for debate and or Town Hall meetings hence our decision for him not to start with one media organisation and later ignore the others.

“In the absence of a unified and mutually acceptable all parties and all candidates platform, our candidate has been speaking directly to Nigerians, since President Muhammadu Buhari launched Tinubu’s Action Plan for a Better Nigeria.

“Till date, over seven town hall meetings with strategic sectors have been held across the geopolitical zones, where the candidate and his running mate have spoken about their programmes.

“These direct engagements will continue before the election on 25 February 2023. We therefore urge Arise News to stop using our candidate’s name or portrait in its advertisement, forthwith,” he said.

PoliticsSoludo Denies Collecting $28m To Blackmail Peter Obi by OddsDoc(op): 9:23pm On Nov 24, 2022
The governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, has dismissed the allegation claiming that he collected $28 million to blackmail the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Soludo made this dismissal while speaking with newsmen in Awka after the Thanksgiving mass for Most Rev. Paulinus C. Ezeokafor in celebration of his 70th birthday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

He, “If I had truly received $28 million to blackmail my brother, Peter Obi, I should be extremely wealthy as of today.

“For those forging blackmail and all that, including the one they said I collected bribe to say what I said, I asked them to bring it so I will use it to construct roads for Anambra people. If Soludo is into bribery, I would have been a multi-trillionaire now.

“Today is very special. When we came into the service, it was the first time, Obi and I are meeting at a public event and in a Catholic Church which the two of us belong to. I think it was divine.

“When I came in, I quickly went to where he sat and hugged him, people watched with bewilderment as if it was a drama, asking if it was not the same people quarrelling,” he added.

Speaking about his tirade on Obi, Soludo simply said it is political, adding that he spoke with Obi about two times just last night.

The Anambra governor said politics has not crept into their relationship as brothers.

He said, “There is no rift between Obi and me at a personal level. Nobody snatched each other’s wife. What appears to be the rift between us is fundamental political differences. Nothing else.

“On the fundamental differences we have, we are going to meet in the next few weeks. We’ve agreed to discuss and iron out our differences,” he added.

PoliticsSowore Challenges Tinubu, Atiku, Obi To Political Debate by OddsDoc(op): 10:09pm On Nov 23, 2022
Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2023 elections, Omoyele Sowore, has challenged the presidential candidates of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi; Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to a political debate.

Sowore challenged the presidential candidates while speaking in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The AAC presidential candidate challenged the candidates of the opposition parties to a debate to discuss ideas to move Nigeria forward.

Sowore stated, “Bring me and Obi to discuss our ideas on your show, I guarantee that he would not come.”

“I know the other two people will not show up – Tinubu and Atiku dare not show up…They should be afraid because anybody who has got no idea should be afraid.

“They should be afraid because anybody who has got no idea should be afraid.”

When asked whether he is angry with Obi whose support base is mainly with youths, Sowore, said, “Was I angry about Peter Obi in 1992, 1993 when I fought the military? Peter Obi was not even known.

“Any campaign that is childish and that doesn’t address the issues is relevant but not important.”

Politics2023: Peter Obi Represents Body, Soul Of Igbo – Ohanaeze by OddsDoc(op): 9:58pm On Nov 23, 2022
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has said the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi represents the body and soul of the Igbo people in the 2023 general elections.

Ohanaeze also called on Nigerian people to disregard any opposing view from the South East, describing such “as the usual distraction and thorns that trail the path to victory.”

This was made known in a press statement entitled ‘Obi represents the body and soul of Ndigbo’ signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr Alex Ogbonnia on Wednesday.

Ohanaeze said the declaration was pertinent as the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) spokesman, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed asked whether the Igbo group is supporting Obi as the presidential election is three months away.

The statement quoted Baba-Ahmed as saying “We don’t know whether they are in support of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party or not. The nation can see what is happening now and if the South East fails to line up behind Obi, they should not blame anybody.”

Reacting to this, the statement clearly said Obi solidly has the backing of Ohanaeze and the entire Igbo people describing him as “our illustrious son.”

“And by all standards, Obi is a good commodity that defies bad market. As it stands, Obi represents the body and soul of the Igbo for the 2023 general election,” Ohanaeze said.

It asserted that the contrary voice from the Igbo people is likened to that of Judas, Jesus Christ’s betrayer in the Bible, Christian’s Holy Book.

It read partly, “The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide led by Ambassador Professor George Obiozor reassures the Northern Elders Forum and indeed the whole Nigeria that the South East of Nigeria or better put, the Igbo are solidly behind our illustrious son, Mr Peter Obi.

“There is no gainsaying the distraction by the negligible minority-elite who by the aid of social media have over-exaggerated their self-worth, authority, power and political relevance. Instructively, the Christian religion informs that in every twelve, there must be a Judas.

“This is a statement of fact, history, experience and a socio-political imperative. In other words, it is rather inconceivable to expect everybody to support Obi. What is important is that the Obi-Datti movement has gained the support of over ninety per cent Igbo and continues to swell with time.”

The group stated, “Ohanaeze will not join issues with those who are opposed to the collective Igbo aspiration with the hope that, as in every ideology, more converts will key in when the logs of wood in their eyes are cleared.

“The Ohanaeze support to Obi is not because of his Igboness as rightly pointed out by Baba -Ahmed, what goes for Obi today is the awesome quality service he rendered to his people as a governor; and of course, the dispositional humility, character comeliness and intellectual acumen that define his public conducts.

“As a governor, Obi was busy setting standards of good governance for posterity, while some other myopic, timid and mundane governors were busy with the unconscionable primitive acquisition of wealth to the detriment or impoverishment of the very masses that voted them into office.

“On behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and indeed all the Nigerian compatriots, we commend the Northern Elder’s Forum for stating that “we will give our support to the best man who can heal the wounds in the land because actually, everybody in Nigeria is marginalized right now.”

“What has remained the curse of the third world is in the choice we make at every occasion. While our ugly past has been defined by selfishness, greed, injustice, ethnic and religious sentiments, the enlightened Nigerian youths of today are more imaginative, proactive, creative, rational and cosmopolitan.

“The prevailing poverty and hardship do not recognize the boundaries of ethnicity and religion. Therefore, Nigeria is at a critical juncture with a choice between our characteristic vicious circle on one hand and the virtuous circle annotated with wealth creation and sustainable national development on the other.

“Finally, Professor Obiozor is not just an erudite scholar, he is also a prophet. He long predicted that any party that nominates its presidential candidate outside the South East of Nigeria will surely have problems.

“Expectedly, the more the crises in the other political parties, the more enlarged the Obi-Datti coast will become. It is worth reiterating that the justice and equity the Igbo seek in Nigeria have found a providential expression in Obi.

“This is because, every Nigerian, big or small, young or old, knows that it is the turn of the South East to produce a president for Nigeria come 2023, going by the rotation and zoning principles that have been entrenched in Nigeria since 1999.

“We hereby urge Nigerians to ignore any contrary opinion from the South East as the usual distraction and thorns that trail the path to victory.”

PoliticsObidients Will Help Tinubu Win Presidential Race — APC PCC by OddsDoc(op): 8:27pm On Nov 22, 2022
The deputy spokesperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Hannatu Musawa on Monday explained how the growing popularity of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and his supporters (Obidients as popularly called) will help Asiwaju Bola Tinubu win the 2023 presidential race.

Musawa made this assertion while speaking in an interview with Politics Hub, a Vanguard Online TV’s political show on Tuesday.

The APC PCC deputy spokesperson, in the course of the interview, told the anchor of the TV show, Damilola Ogunsakin that the Obidients movement has helped in the impending victory of the APC in 2023.

Musawa added that the Obidients movement is eating deep into the stronghold and areas where the People’s Democratic Party, PDP is popular.

She said, “Most of the areas Peter Obi seem to be making a lot of impacts are traditionally PDP states. I read the article of Governor Chuwuma Soludo and that man really hit the nail right on the head. The Obidients movement is actually helping the APC because it’s reducing the popularity of the PDP. It’s reducing the threats and eating into PDP’s zones and strongholds.

“So, Obidients movement, we are very happy. In fact, we want the Obidients movement to continue as strong as it can till the election because that will help us to be able to continue to hold on to our stronghold while they cannibalised into our opposition structures. So, no threats from the Obidients movement whatsoever,” she added.

National Chairman of the PDP, Sen. PoliticsGanduje: Kwankwaso Can’t Match Pro-Tinubu Rally In Kano by OddsDoc(op): 11:04pm On Nov 21, 2022
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State said the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso can not match pro-Asiwaju Bola Tinubu rally, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Kano.

Ganduje made this assertion while speaking in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.

The Kano state governor challenged Kwankwaso, his predecessor to hold a rally in the state to test his popularity.

Ganduje defended the large turnout of supporters for Tinubu in the state earlier in the day.

He said, “Kwankwaso is a presidential candidate, there is no doubt about that. But equally, we are on the ground and many of his people are now in our political party,” he said.

“So, if Kwankwaso thinks that he can win the party, let him hold a march like this and compare what will happen if he can do so.”

On the possibility of his party losing ground to another of his predecessors turned political rivals, Ibrahim Shekarau, Ganduje questioned the political relevancy of the former Minister of Education over his switching of allegiance.

He said, “Pertaining to Shekarau, we won our election without Shekarau. Later, we invited him into our party and he decided to leave the party to Kwankwaso’s party.

“Later on, he left that party to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he was originally. So, you can see that these are nomads in politics. You expect that people who run from one party to another will lose followers.

“Once you change your political party, you cannot carry everybody to where you want to go. You will leave some followers. He left a majority of his followers in APC and then he left others in NNPP. He then left many there. Where he is now, well, we will live to see,” he said.

PoliticsI Didn’t Say Peter Odili Was My Classmate – Obi by OddsDoc(op): 9:48pm On Nov 19, 2022
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi has denied saying that the former governor of Rivers state, Peter Odili was his classmate in high school.

Obi had during a project commissioning event organised by Nyesom Wike in Rivers opined that, “Peter Odili was my senior at (CKC); we played football together. If Odili is not able to play, just know we have lost that day.

“Everyone knows my school and my schoolmates. Not some people that no one knows their schoolmates or the schools they attended.”

Critics have taken to their social media platforms to condemn him. They said Odili was born in 1948 and graduated from high school in 1967, while Obi was admitted into CKC in 1973 and graduated in 1978.

Obviously, Odili had graduated before Peter Obi gained admission into CKC.

Reacting to people’s comment in a statement he sent to Vanguard, Obi said his remarks were wrongly interpreted.

His words: “My remarks when I visited Port Harcourt have been wrongly interpreted by some people. The former Governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili and I, are among other prominent Nigerians that schooled in Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha, and we remain alumni of the school.

“I did not say that former Governor Odili was my classmate, rather I said that he was a great footballer in my school, and we all cherished and had good memories of his football exploits when we got into the school.

“I was in CKC from 1973 to 1978 and Dr Peter Odili had graduated before I got into the school. He was such a fabulous footballer whose image still loomed large even in our time, especially considering the fact that my Primary School was very close to CKC.

“The Primary School that I attended, Santa Maria School/Holy Trinity School, were both owned by the same Catholic Church that owned Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha. In fact, both Primary Schools were feeder schools to CKC, and a large number of pupils who passed through the schools ended up in CKC for secondary education.”

PoliticsAyu: As President, Atiku Will Hit Ground Running by OddsDoc(op): 9:54pm On Nov 18, 2022
The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyiochia Ayu has assured Nigerians that the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar will hit the ground running upon declaration as the president of Nigeria in 2023.

Ayu made this assurance while speaking at the official commissioning of the People’s Democratic Institute (PDI), at Asokoro, Abuja, on Friday.

He stated, “While the others are utterly confused about how, where or when to even begin their campaigns, PDP is already preparing for governance.

“Our Presidential candidate, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, has already exhibited his intellectual preparedness in his publications that are already in the public space for everyone to access and scrutinize.

“It is not an accident of history that he commissioned the Institute at its inauguration in year 2000 and, is today, recommissioning it in preparation for the task ahead, Post-May 29, 2023.

“His Excellency is not someone who acts on whims or impulse. He works with thoroughly developed ideas and his love for the Institute had been a pillar of support to it when it flourished.“

The PDP National Chairman describes the PDI project as a fulfillment of one out of the promises he made to party members on assumption of office.

He said, “When we came on board in December last year, we promised to revamp the PDI, and today, God has made it possible.

“The place is fully computerized with state-of-the-art equipment, resource materials and the requisite personnel to deliver strategic data and statistics to enable the incoming Atiku Abubakar administration to hit the ground running.

“PDP will not waste six months in the Presidential Villa thinking of what do with power.

“Although the party has a robust package for making Nigeria workable again, the Institute has been revamped and repositioned to provide research data that will help President Atiku to unlock our national potentials, secure the country, energize our productive sectors, stimulate wealth creation, empower youths and women, create jobs, revitalize agriculture, stabilize the educational sector and, altogether, be an alert and effective commander-in-chief.“

While commending party members for their support, Ayu singled out Governor Seyi Makinde for his support in making the resuscitation of the PDI a reality.

He said, “ I cannot end this address without acknowledging the special support of party faithful, especially His Excellency, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo state. It is largely because of him that we are here today. Thank you, Your Excellency.

“I use this opportunity to also thank party members across the country for their continued support and prayers. And we further sue for cooperation and unity of purpose. We are stronger together.

“Our focus must remain on retaking power from the ruling APC next February so we can commence the restoration work which was truncated in 2015.“

The PDP chairman equally appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to keep his word of ensuring that the 2023 elections are free, fair, transparent and credible. Both the presidency and the APC must not intimidate INEC or its functionaries in any way: let every vote count.

Ayu also said, “The party maintains that we will not accept the questionable harvests of votes from inaccessible areas as happened in previous elections under the APC.

“Finally, we renew our call on the international community, especially the US, European Union, the Commonwealth and the African Union to sustain their interest in the democratic project in Nigeria through diplomatic pressures, political contacts and large, high-calibre observer missions.”

In his remarks, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council said the party has a good product in the person of Atiku Abubakar who has the experience and capacity to provide leadership for our nation.

The PDP chair also expressed delight that the party under his leadership was enjoying the privilege of revamping of the research/intellectual arm of the party after several years of inactivity.

He said, “When we founded the PDP, we conceived it to be an organic party that would evolve and always be in sync with the developmental needs of the people.

“The founding fathers of this great Party were visionary patriots who sought to establish and bequeath to this great country a functional democracy.

“No society develops by fiat. It comes about by the rigorous work of carefully studying situations and analyzing them before evolving and implementing sustainable solutions. That was the idea that birthed the PDI on 31st August, 2000.

“It was supposed to be the Think-tank for the Party, an ideation center for the rigorous intellectual work of research, socio-economic analysis, policy development, training and capacity building of political actors, and the strengthening of our democratic institutions and culture.”

According to him, the PDI lived up to its bidding: it hosted programs for both domestic and international audiences, engaged in research-based publications, and contributed significantly to the capacity-building of our Party functionaries nationwide.

This, his said, explained why PDP’s 16 years in power were action-packed, eventful, impactful and useful.

In an apparent jab at the ruling All Progressives Congress, Ayu said, “PDP was not hurriedly conceived as a propaganda machine just to access power – it came to power with a mission.

“And we understood that democracy is not a one-man show something to be run on adhoc arrangements – democracy is about mass participation, shared ideas and shared prosperity.

“PDI is, therefore, the Party’s tool for generating ideas, thoroughly researching them and rigorously analyzing development options/policies for good governance and National development.“

He, however, expressed regret that after more than a decade of eventful activities, the Institute lost its accommodation in Wuse II, and had to be located in a Porta-cabin at the party’s national headquarters.

Speaking about the days event, Ayu said, “Today, however, marks another turning point in our Party’s fortunes. The deliberate actions of the current NWC have revived hope for the survival of the Institute.

“ It is now comfortably accommodated in this structure which has been rented, renovated, furnished and equipped for PDI to effectively re-engage the purpose for which it was established.

“The renewed hope for a better Nigeria is being midwifed by salient milestones that PDP is making in the rebirth of the Party and its return to its winning ways.

“The Party is again preparing itself adequately and shall hit the ground running, when, by the grace of God and the votes of Nigerians, PDP returns to power next year“

Politics2023 Poll: BVAS Needed Will Be Ready Before December – INEC by OddsDoc(op): 8:30pm On Nov 17, 2022
All Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) needed for the 2023 general elections would be ready before December.

The assurance was given in Abuja on Thursday by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Voter Education and Information Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye.

He gave the assurance while speaking as a panellist at a seminar on “Optimising technology to safeguard people’s will’’ organised by the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Alumni Association.

Okoye said BVAS to be used in 27 states were already available.

“We will have the full complement of the BVAS for the 2023 elections; both in the 176,846 polling units and in the 8,809 Registration Areas on ground before December.

“We shall have a BVAS in each polling unit and we are going to have at least two stand-by BVAS in each of the registration areas,’’ he said.

The commissioner also said that at the end of on-going nationwide display of voters register on Nov. 25, INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu would address the nation on the modality for collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

He said while the PVCs of those who registered before Jan. 15 were ready for collection, those that registered between Jan. 15 and July 31 would be ready December.

Speaking on the security of INEC’s ICT platforms, Okoye said beyond the provision of adequate security against hacking, there was also adequate backup for the platforms.

He said that going by INEC’s performance in recent elections in Osun, Ekiti, Anambra and Osun, citizens’ confidence in the Commission had continued to improve.

Okoye said that with the optimising of technology, INEC had been able to build portals for political parties to nominate their candidates online.

It had also built portals for observers and the media to register for election observation as well as portal for voter registration

He added that the Commission had also enhanced its technology to improve on voter accreditation during elections, which made it to jettison Card Readers for BVAS.

The national commissioner also listed the design of another portal for real time INEC Results Viewing Portal to eliminate rigging of elections.

“What we have done is to try and see in what ways and by what means technology can assist the Commission to do its work better and that’s exactly where we are today,’’ Okoye said.

In his contribution, Executive Director, Yiaga Africa, Mr Samson Itodo, who spoke on “Issues in voter registration and managing voters’ role’’, advised voters to play their roles in ensuring that the 2023 general elections were not manipulated.

Itodo, who was also a discussant, noted that politicians were already attempting to manipulate the 2023 elections and citizens must come up with strategy to negate those attempts.

He listed the attempts to include the compromise of the independence of INEC through the appointment of some National Electoral Commissioners and Resident Electoral Commissioners with political and questionable backgrounds.

“From the screening of the commissioners by the Senate there was a report that one of the nominees admitted that he was an aspirant at the 2015 elections in one of the political parties, but today he is INEC commissioner.

“There are states we need to tag as `red flag’ states. We need to monitor the states from where these individuals had been deployed and push back any attempt to compromise elections there,’’ he said.

Itodo added that another attempt to manipulate the process was the registration of underage potential voters.

He advised citizens to take advantage of the on-going display of voters register and the INEC website to identify the underage registered, dead persons and foreigners and forward their claims and objections to INEC.

“For everyone who has been screaming that the voter register should be audited, the register is now in your hand. This is the time for you to contribute to the cleaning up of the voter register,’’ he stressed.

Another panellist, Chairman, Editorial Board, ThisDay Newspapers, Mr Olusegun Adeniyi, who discussed “the anatomy of public distrust in election management’’, expressed confidence in the capacity of INEC to conduct credible elections in 2023.

Adeniyi urged Nigerians not to take the country’s election for granted but to defend it.

He advised politicians to go into the 2023 election with expectations that they would win, but in the event that they lose, they should not scatter the process

Former FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Lawrence Alobi, who was also a member of the panel, said security was fundamental to the electoral process, before, during and after the exercise.

“We already have reports on where political rallies were being attacked in Jos, Kaduna and Borno States,’’ he noted.

Alobi called for adequate training of security officers in democratic policing, adding that provision of security on election days must not be biased, and must be proactive.

“Untrained security personnel on election duty are a threat to the society and to election,’’ he stressed.

The retired police officer advised the electorate to vote responsibly; monitor behaviour of security agencies during elections and demand that law and other are followed.

CelebritiesSoludo/obi: You Aren’t Supporting Your Own, Frank Edoho Chides Igbo Politicians by OddsDoc(op): 8:56pm On Nov 16, 2022
Nigerian television host, Frank Edoho has displayed worry over how Nigerian politicians of Igbo extraction have failed to rally support for the presidential candidate from the South East region.

Edoho, the host of the popular intellectual show ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ said this on Tuesday via his verified Twitter page in reaction to the fiasco between Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Recall that Soludo had in an article on Monday, slammed Obi’s presidential ambition, saying he lacks the capacity to win the election.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) who said it was obvious that Obi cannot emerge winner of the presidential election in 2023 also rubbished his decision to save money for Anambra after the expiration of his tenure as the Governor of Anambra.

Obi, at the Lagos Business School (LBS), on Tuesday, said he ruled the Southeastern state as a trader, but Soludo has the chance, now, to rule as a Professor.

Reacting to the debacle, Edoho said Yoruba and Hausa people derive pleasure in supporting their own, but the reverse has been the case for Igbo politicians who drag their own people.

Edoho wrote, “Igbo politicians will never stop baffling me. You have the rare opportunity of one of your kin being President but instead of supporting and clamouring for him like Yoruba and Hausa people do with their candidates, you look for ways to disrupt and thwart him! Tufia Kwa!”

PoliticsNo Gov Has Performed Better Than Tinubu In Fourth Republic – APC Chieftain Aliyu by OddsDoc(op): 8:40pm On Nov 16, 2022
The Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rebirth Group, Alhaji Aliyu Audu has said that no governor since 1999 has surpassed the political achievements of the ruling party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu when he ruled Lagos state.

Aliyu said Tinubu’s antecedent as a governor from 1999 to 2007 was a premise on which he has become the best candidate to rule Nigeria.

According to the APC chieftain, Tinubu did not only transform Lagos, but he also created a pattern in which his successors – Babatunde Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu have governed the commercial capital city of the country.

Audu made this known while speaking in an interview with Vanguard’s Politics Hub on Tuesday, when asked what made the APC National Leader the preferred candidate.

“We have decided to bring our very best two (Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima) to lead the country. In the history of Nigeria, in the Fourth Republic, it is on record that no governor till date has been able to perform nearly close to what Bola Ahmed Tinubu did in his state in eight years in Lagos.

“And not only did he do that, but he has also set forward a long-term plan and a template that the subsequent governors have worked on and have increased the fortunes of Lagos for Lagosians and Nigeria as a whole,” Audu said.
