On Friday morning, Zinedine Zidane had to depart from the Montreal training camp and return to Spain for personal reasons. In a statement released by the club.

A one minute silence was held by the team in Montreal.

Reportminds.com understand that Farid Zidane (54) has passed away.

Club statement below:
“All members of the Real Madrid first-team squad held a minute’s silence ahead of training in Montreal following the passing of Farid Zidane, the brother of our coach, Zinedine Zidane.”

David Bettoni, Zidane’s second in command, has been running the sessions in his absence.

Fast rising actress, Bukunmi Oluwasina, has said she has set some boundaries as regards her playing romantic roles in movies. In a chat with Saturday Beats, the young actress noted that she made the decision for posterity sake.

“I can never act Nood or allow my body to be touched anyhow if I am going to play a romantic role. Some people call me a feminist because I take issues about women seriously. There are some people that use the opportunity of acting with you to do some things they’ve always wanted to do; it happens. There are limits to what I can take in a romance scene because I know I’m going to get married someday and my children would watch me.

“I can’t go too extreme. My best role ever is when I acted like a blind girl; it was quite challenging because I wanted to give it my all. I had to relate with blind people to understand how they go about their daily activities. For example, I was taught how to use the braille,” she told Saturday Beats.

Asked about how fame has affected her, she described the status as a delicate phenomenon that should be handled with wisdom.

“Fame is very delicate; you just find yourself hurting people who are dear to you. I have issues with keeping in touch. Fame doesn’t stay forever but it can make someone lose things and people that matter. It takes freedom away from you,” she said.

She further talked about how she delved into acting, which she identified as one of her childhood dreams.

“I always knew I would be an actress, the trait has always been in me. Growing up as a child, I used to sing, dance and write scripts. In 2013, I shot one of my scripts and that was my first movie ever. We shot it and it is one of the best things that have happened to me. That was my breakthrough into the movie industry.

“I didn’t really face too many challenges; however, when I was trying to market the movie; a marketer had a problem with me being the lead actor in my own movie because I was an up-and-coming actress and a lady. He said he was going to buy the movie for a ridiculous amount of money because of that. Other stars featured in the movie but they weren’t ready to market the movie; I felt bad.

“If up-and-coming actors are not given the opportunity to showcase their talents, how are they going to be discovered? We can’t continue to have the same faces in every movie. I was determined but the marketers’ words to me were depressing. I didn’t give up, we shot the movie and I thank God for his grace. Eventually, the marketers that rejected me then now call me to feature in their movies. I always go back to God when people talk down on me.

“I am an introvert, I am used to being by myself; but now I have to make friends and talk even when I don’t want to. I found myself in a profession that won’t give you friends if you’re real. But when you are fake, you will have a lot of friends and I am a blunt person. I am a very straightforward person.

“I am not a party person; but in this profession, if you don’t show up for people’s events, they may think it is out of pride. I found myself offending people unknowingly. I am still trying to strike a balance between my personality and what people want me to be,” she said.

Frank Lampard has taken charge of his first training session as the new Chelsea manager on their pre-season trip to Ireland.


The club legend and his squad jetted to the Emerald Isle earlier on Friday and wasted no time is taking a look at his players in action with a few drills in Maynooth, a small university town in in north County Kildare.

Lampard couldn't resists the temptation to get involved himself and the former midfielder was pictured passing the ball and putting himself in the thick of it.



The 41-year-old is known to favour youth and the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Trevoh Chalobah, Fikayo Tomori and Lewis Baker no doubt eager to showcase their talents to the man in charge.

Borussia Dortmund youngster Dario Scuderi has decided to retire from football aged 21 as he does not want to run the risk of suffering another serious injury.



Three years ago Scuderi suffered one of the worst leg breaks in football history in a UEFA Youth League game against Legia Warsaw and it looked like his career was over before it really got going.



Scuderi's surgeon, Professor Michael Strobel, described it as the worst injury you could possibly imagine and the Italian was told he would never play football again.



"It [was] the worst injury you could possibly imagine," Mr Strobel said at the time.



"Pretty much everything tore: the ligaments, all the muscle and tendons."



But unfortunately despite his miraculous recovery, Scuderi has had to give up his dream of being a professional footballer - though he will still maintain an involvement with BVB

Tragically, divers have recovered the body of Young Boys and Swiss women’s team player Florijana Ismaili from Lake Como.


She had been on a rented boat with a friend on Saturday afternoon when diving in for a swim only around 100m from shore, but never resurfaced.

After days of searches, which had to use a robot to reach the depths of the lake, her body was found today.

She was 24 years old.

Arsenal have officially announced the signing of the 18-year-old forward Gabriel Martinelli from Brazilian side Ituano Futebol Clube.


Gabriel has made rapid progress during his short time at Ituano. Since making his debut in November 2017 aged just 16 years and nine months, the young forward scored 10 goals from his 34 appearances for the Sao Paulo-based club.


The 18-year-old’s development was also recently acknowledged by the Brazilian national team, with a call-up to the full squad for a training camp in May ahead of the Copa America.

Gabriel was voted as the 2019 Best Newcomer and also a member of the 2019 Team of the Year for the Campeonato Paulista - the football league for the state of Sao Paulo.

Manchester United have officially tied Marcus Rashford down until 2023, with an option to extend to a further year.



Dailymail reveals the England striker will earn ￡200k per week in his new deal.

Rashford, 21, is a product of the club’s Academy and has been at Manchester United since the age of seven. The Wythenshawe-born striker has made 170 appearances for the club and won 32 caps for England.

Aaron Ramsey has finally presented himself as a Juventus player, almost five months since his transfer was announced.


Juve confirmed back in February that Ramsey had agreed a four-year contract, the midfielder signing from Arsenal on a Bosman free transfer.

Brighton & Hove defender Leon Balogun has admitted that he was the player to be blamed for the opening goal scored by Madagascar in their Africa Cup of Nations match against the Super Eagles on Sunday evening.

FC Barcelona and Celta Vigo have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Denis Suárez. The Galician team will pay FC Barcelona €12.9m plus €3.1m in add-ons



The Galician player ends his second spell at FC Barcelona after playing for Barça B during the 2013/14 season.

Denis Suárez joined the first team in the summer of 2016, after two moves to Sevilla and Villarreal. His good performances there convinced the club to exercise the clause to re-sign him and the midfielder returned to FC Barcelona under Luis Enrique’s tutelage.

Chelsea have seemingly announced the signing of Mateo Kovacic prematurely on the club’s app.

Kovacic is expected to join the club following his loan spell last season. The club are yet to formally announce the Croatian’s arrival, but an article appeared on the club’s official app on Saturday night stating that Kovacic has already signed for the Blues.

On the club’s app ‘The Fifth Stand’, an article entitled ‘My Footballing Firsts’ was released, which contained Kovacic speaking about how he felt when he signed for Chelsea, as well as explicitly stating that the Croatian had ‘secured a permanent switch’.

Kovacic was quoted: “It was an amazing feeling to sign for Chelsea, first on loan and now permanently.

‘It is a fantastic club, with great team-mates and we play a good style of football.

‘I am very happy to be staying here and very proud to be a Chelsea player.”



Chelsea are currently under a transfer ban, which is preventing them from signing players until 2020. Kovacic is eligible to be signed, however, since he was registered as a Chelsea player at the time the ban was implemented by Fifa.

Kovacic racked up 51 appearances for the Blues last season, helping the club to a Europa League triumph and a third-place finish in the Premier League. He will be Frank Lampard’s first signing as Chelsea manager – beyond the arrival of Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund – and most likely the last of this window, unless the Blues take up their permanent option on Gonzalo Higuain.

The Wife of the Vice President, Mrs Oludolapo Osinbajo has said that the play, “Area Boy’’ reminded her of time spent working in the slums of Lagos amongst area boys.

The Public Relations Agency that made the statement available to newsmen on Saturday, said that Osinbajo disclosed this at the National Conference for the MTN-led Anti Substance-Abuse Programme recently held in Abuja.

“I insisted on watching the play, which is based on the perils of substance abuse, because I wanted to recollect a past experience.

“I wanted to watch the drama to relive again the times that I spent working in the slums of Lagos amongst the area boys, amongst prostitutes, amongst the rejects, and the lost.

“The drama was so life-like that I can pinpoint aspects of my experience in the dramatic piece, and as the drama went on, I can identify some people that I knew so many years ago,” it quoted Osinbajo as saying.

She also urged everyone, all stakeholders, to join in the fight against drug abuse, as this multi-headed monster required a multi-stakeholder intervention.

After a compelling performance, the play received a thunderous applause from the hundreds of guests, which included Oludolapo Osinbajo, politician and businessman, Mr. Tonye Cole, Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajia Zainab Bagudu, and others.

The second and last performance of the day was an energetic musical show by an actor, singer and anti-substance abuse advocate, David Jones, who joined the trail last month.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the MTN Anti-Substance Abuse Project (ASAP) is an initiative spearheaded by MTN Foundation, to deliver interventions that contribute to a significant reduction in the rate of drug abuse amongst the youths.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a deal worth £50 million ($63m).


The England Under-21 international underwent a medical at United’s Carrington training complex on Thursday having returned from the Young Lions’ unsuccessful tilt at the European Under-21 Championship in Italy.

And now the club has announced that they have wrapped up the signing of the highly-rated 21-year-old, making him their second addition of the summer following on from the deal which brought Daniel James to Old Trafford from Swansea City.

Head coach of Nigeria, Gernot Rohr has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, will start in Wednesday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, clash against Guinea.

The German tactician stated that Akpeyi will be in goal for the three-time African champions against the Syli Stars because the 32-year-old did well in that position against Burundi.


He added that the shot-stopper will be maintained as the number-one ahead of Katsina United’s Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Deportivo de La Coruña’s Francis Uzoho.

Nigeria head to the match after defeating Burundi 1-0 over the weekend while Guinea played a draw against Madagascar.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Egypt, Rohr said: ”Akpeyi played the first match because in the three weeks preparations he became number one.


”I don’t decide in this position alone because we have a good goalkeeper coach Alloy and even my assistant Imama is a former goalkeeper so we speak about this problem everyday each time we are together, so we decided together that Akpeyi starts as number one.”

Rohr added: ”At first Ezenwa had a little knee injury in one of the first training sessions in Asaba, so he had to rest and came back slowly, so he lost his number one position because of his injury.

”Akpeyi played in the friendlies, he did well and there was no reason to change. Now Ezenwa is coming back and there’s real competition because we agreed Francis Uzoho is number three, so for the game for tomorrow we will have a big decision to take who will start the game.


”I think that Daniel Akpeyi with the clean sheet in the first match and very difficult ball he stopped in the match against Burundi, I think he’ll be maintained as the number one.”

The Juventus FC player has just returned from a family holiday in Greece, where he reportedly paid £7,000 a night for the luxurious accommodation.

However, the expense didn’t end there for the footballer as it’s claimed, as per MailOnline, he left an eye-watering £18,000 tip for staff at the Greek resort as a thank you for keeping the paparazzi away during his trip.

Ronaldo has been enjoying a summer holiday with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and his four children, at the five-star Westin Resort, Costa Navarino, for the second year in a row – in fact it was reported he left a very similar tip in 2018 too.

As per The Guardian, Ronaldo left a tip worth £17,850 after staff kept paps at bay last year. Maybe it’s just his standard resort tip, maybe the same story has been regurgitated, maybe we should all stop being so cynical?

No pictures of the family appeared in the press or social media during their trip, and now Spanish outlet AS has said Ronaldo was so grateful he decided to leave the hotel staff an £18,000 (€20,000) tip for looking after them.

Rooms at the luxurious resort have beautiful views of the Inoian Sea, as well as their own infinity pools, with two golf courses on site for guests.

Ronaldo’s family holiday is far from over though, as their trip continues on a super-yacht travelling through the French Riviera.

Joining Ronaldo and Rodriguez is the footballer’s four children, Cristiano Ronaldo Junior, nine, twins Eva Maria and Mateo, two, and baby Alana, one.

Nollywood actor, Charles Okocha, was rushed into the theatre for a quick surgery in the US over the weekend. He travelled to the US with his son for holiday but suddenly became ill. He was admitted at the Good Samaritan hospital in Los Angeles.


Posting photos of himself after the surgery on his Instagram page, Charles wrote;

Thank God for a successful surgery operation.went for a 5days Vacay trip to California with ma son and this is where I ended up ma Vacay. We all should all get close to God Man propose God dispose. tomorrow ain’t promised you never know what next. Am fine now God is the greatest

Newcastle United have announced that manager Rafael Benitez will depart the club when his contract expires at the end of June.

The 59-year-old, who also managed Liverpool and Chelsea in the PL, has been with Newcastle since March 2016 and although he was unable to prevent their relegation from the Premier League that season, he led them back to the top flight at the first time of asking by winning the Championship title.

In the last two campaigns, Benitez's side have finished 10th and 13th in the Premier League.

Last season he won the Barclays Manager of the Month award for November, his seventh such monthly managerial award.

"We have worked hard to extend Rafa's contract over a significant period of time, however it has not been - and will not be - possible to reach an agreement with Rafa and his representatives," read a statement on the club's official website.

"We would like to thank Rafa and his coaching team for their efforts over the last three years and their significant contribution to what has been collectively achieved."

The coaching staff of Paco de Míguel Moreno, Antonio Gomez Perez and Mikel Antia will also leave the club.

Newcastle begin their 2019/20 league campaign at home to Arsenal on Sunday, 11 August

Shehu Abdullahi could miss the remainder of Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations outing with a hamstring injury.

The Bursaspor defender was stretchered out in the first half, and was replaced by Chidozie Awaziem in the Super Eagles 1-0 triumph over Burundi.

Although Nigeria medics did not place a timeframe on his full recovery, media officer Toyin Ibitoye told Goal that the right-back would be sidelined for Wednesday’s showdown with Guinea in Alexandria.

“Shehu is fine but may need just a few days to be back to 100%.”

While Rohr remained vague as to the extent of the injury, Goal understands the problem is not a severe one, but Nigeria will not risk exacerbating the injury with other options available for selection.

Therefore, the Super Eagles No.12 may not feature again for the three-time African kings in Egypt.

Since his international debut, Abdullahi who gave a positive injury update on Twitter has enjoyed a superb outing for the country – playing in the 2018 Fifa World Cup and boasting of 27 caps.

The injury setback will come to the Olympic bronze medalist, who has vowed to help Nigeria grab a fourth African title.

In his absence, the 2013 African champions will need to find someone to stop the attacking forays of opposing strikers.

Group B leaders, Nigeria face the National Elephants with victory handing them an early place in the Round of 16.
