The first match of Tanzania’s over 30 years break in football has ended with a 0-2 loss to Senegal on Sunday in the ongoing African cup of Nations champions in Egypt.

And the result had left the Nigerian Tanzania’s coach Emmanuel Amuneke uncomfortable but hopeful heading forward in their group which also consist of tournament favourites of Kenya, and Algeria.

Senegal won their opening match of the competition with two goals from Keita Balde’s strike in the 28th minutes and Diatta in the 66th minutes despite not parading Liverpool Sadio Mane in the Cairo match.

Recall the 27-year-old forward was served a one-match ban after being yellow-carded twice during qualifying for the biennial showcase of African football.

Naira Marley has revealed that he narrowly missed the Air Peace flight that overshot its runway while landing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State today.


Air Peace: Naira Marley escapes plane mishap
The singer has been in Abuja for some days now performing round the Federal Capital Territory and he was billed to perform in Warri today but couldn’t make it down to the city due to ‘logistic’ reasons.

In his reaction to the plane mishap, Naira Marley posted on social media while reacting at the comment section of a post.

He wrote:

‘look, I would have been on this flight. God knows best, Warri no vex, see you soon’.


Earlier today, the aeroplane belonging to Air Peace overshot the runway during a stormy weather in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The aircraft left Abuja for Port Harcourt on Saturday. It is raining and cloudy in the garden city.


All passengers on board have been safely evacuated.

Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, confirmed the incident.

Yakubu said although the the Boeing 737-500 aircraft skidded off the runway, the pilot was able to stop the aircraft.

She noted that in spite of the rain, the undercarriage of the aircraft did not sink into the soil.

“All passengers disembarked successfully. There was no casualty, “Yakubu said.

Nigerian entertainer, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has declared himself a prisoner. Charly Boy said he has been a prisoner from birth because Nigeria, his country of birth, is a prison yard.

The veteran singer told Potpourri in a chat that “it’s been quite a long time that we were born into this prison called Nigeria.” Charly Boy, also known as Area Fada, stated this on the occasion of his 69th birthday.

Born on 19 June, 1951, the singer, songwriter, television presenter, publisher, and producer, said this when he visited those in Ikoyi Prison, Lagos State, a place he described as hell.

The music producer, widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most controversial entertainers alive and has overtime built his brand around major international, national and local controversies, said young Nigerians were yet to realise that they are in prison.

The singer, turned activist on Wednesday visited Ikoyi Prison in Lagos State with members of Our Mumu Don Do group and Na We Be Government Movement as part of activities lined up for his birthday.

The renowned singer made the visit alongside Solo artist, Mrs Anehita Aletor who shares the same birthday with him, as well as Augustine Omoifo who is the organizer of the prison tour.

Charlyboy and his Movement also used the opportunity to help in facilitating the release of some prisoners awaiting trial for over a decade or more.
The Area Fada and his team, also fed over 200 inmates during the visit.

Speaking, the Area Fada said, ” it’s been quite a long time that we were born into this prison called Nigeria, and the first thing that comes to mind on a day like this is to visit those in hell. If we are in prison, then you can only imagine where they are.

“This is the only way we can reach out, the only way we can save a life.

“Unfortunately, majority of us don’t even know we are in a dungeon. Unless we realize this, we will continue in this eternal anguish.

“But like I have always said, the survival of our country depends solely on the ability of our young men and women to break out of this prison by fire by force, whether them like’am or not.”

Raúl González is the new manager of Real Madrid Castilla. The club announced the news that As repoered last May on their website as they promote the former striker from Real Madrid's under-15 side.

They lost to Cartagena in the Segunda B playoffs despite carrying a 3-1 lead into the second leg and Real Madrid are keen to see them up in the second division, which is Raúl's objective.

On Friday, he was handed his UEFa Pro License that allows him to manage any team at any level in professional football. It was the last hurdle for the 41-year-old to climb before the official announcement.


With the decision, Real Madrid maintain their strategy of giving former players the chance to coach the second team with the hope of eventually managing the first team, which is what happened with Zidane and Solari most recently. The legendary former captain of the club holds a special lelvel of respect amongst the youngsters at the club and the club knew that when taking the chance on the new manager.

Raúl replaced Manolo Díaz, who was given the job when Santiago Solari was promoted to the first team last season. Díaz will return to a role as the co-ordinator of the academy, the role he fulfilled before being given the job as Castilla coach.

Kane, who is enjoying some time off following England's involvement in the UEFA Nations League earlier this month, posted photos of the newly weds on his Twitter page.

The CAF Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on Friday 21 June and Premier League players are set to have a major say in who lifts the trophy.

Thirty-four players registered with 16 of the 2018/19 or 2019/20 Premier League clubs have been selected to represent their countries at the tournament in Egypt.

The host nation have the best record at the competition, having won it seven times, and they have Liverpool's Mohamed Salah in their ranks along with Arsenal's Mohamed Elneny and Aston Villa's Ahmed El Mohamady.

Cameroon are the defending champions and are aiming for a sixth title, aided by Brighton & Hove Albion's Gaetan Bong and Fulham's Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, who both made 22 Premier League appearances last season.

Four nations have a quartet of Premier League stars in their ranks, with Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Senegal leading the way.

The competition has a new format of 24 countries, 15 of which have at least one 2018/19 or 2019/20 Premier League player in their ranks, and finishes on 19 July.
The top two teams in each of the six groups, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the last 16.

Iker Casillas will not be able to resume his football career following his heart attack, according to a well-known Spanish cardiologist.

The Spanish World Cup winning goalkeeper suffered a myocardial infarction in training with Porto on Wednesday, and was immediately rushed the hospital for surgery.

That surgery was a success, and Casillas shared a picture of himself smiling from his hospital bed on Wednesday evening.

Porto tweeted to inform fans that he was on the mend, writing: "Casillas is now doing well, the cardiac problem has been resolved. Always together. Go Iker."

Casillas' agent Carlos Cutropia said that the goalkeeper, 37, had no indication that anything was wrong prior to the incident.

He told Spanish radio station COPE : “Iker had an intense training session on Tuesday and another one on Wednesday morning.

“Halfway through Wednesday’s session he felt unwell and his chest, mouth and arms were hurting.

“We’re extremely grateful to Porto’s medical team who got Iker to the hospital so quickly.”

And now cardiologist and former Real Madrid basketball player Juan Antonio Corbalan says that while Casillas will make a full recovery, he will no longer be able to play football.

"You cannot play football with a coronary stent, especially a goalkeeper," he said, via AS.

"Iker will return to living a normal life, but he can no longer be a professional athlete."

Amunike returns Tanzania to AFCON after 39 years hiatus
39 years after their last appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations, Tanzania will return to Africa’s biggest football showpiece and qualification for the Taifa stars had a Nigerian flavor to it, no thanks to Emmanuel Amunike.
Amunike was appointed head coach of the Tanzania national team in August 2018 with the immediate task of ensuring their qualification to the 2019 AFCON.

On 24th March he delivered on that, with an emphatic 3-0 win over Uganda on the final matchday inside a packed National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

With the Taifa Stars tied on points with Lesotho; it was a fight to the finish for second place in group L and it was the former who eventually delivered.

Lesotho couldn’t break Cape Verde, though the latter had nothing but pride to play for.

Tanzania have only once made an appearance in the competition; back in 1980, where they also couldn’t get past the first round.

Thus it seems the next task for the former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amunike will be to ensure Taifa Stars play beyond the group stage.

The 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be the first hosted in June and this edition will see 24 teams participate.

Odion Ighalo netted his maiden goal in Shanghai Shenhua colours as they fell to a 2-1 loss at home to Hebei CFFC on game week 2 in the Chinese Super League on Sunday afternoon.

Nigeria international netted his first goal for his new club after 134 minutes of game time.

Bolton Wanderers has taken a turn for the worse after their training ground was closed.

Gates at the cash-strapped Championship strugglers' practice facility were shut on Monday morning thanks to a lack of food, drink and supplies.

Members of Phil Parkinson's relegation-threatened team had the day off but peripheral players and support staff were told to stay away.



Bolton's owner Ken Anderson has put the club up for sale and has suggested a takeover is close.

However, that is yet to materialise and staff have not been paid their February wages, which were due last Thursday.

Former Arsenal and Ivorian defender, Emmanuel Eboué has remarried his longtime fiancée in a colourful ceremony held in Abidjan on Saturday.

The 37-year-old made the headlines last year after The Sun Newspaper revealed his living condition.

However, Eboue has turned his life around after battling with his ex-wife Aurelie Bertrand in divorce proceedings which saw him lose his properties and investments, and also the custody of their three children.

According to reports in Cote d'Ivoire, the former Galatasaray defender's new wife, Stephanie Boedé had been with him while at ASEC Mimosas before he moved to Europe, and that the wedding was held discreetly because he now wants a quiet life after all he has been through.

Eboué made a total of 465 appearances for club and country, scoring 22 goals including 33 assists.

He was offered a coaching role at Galatasaray when news the news broke that he was broke and had contemplated suicide.

Renowned Argentine actress Christian Bach, who co-starred in the Telemundo series "La Patrona" and "La Impostora," died at age 59, according to a statement released by her family.

Bach was the wife of Mexican actor Humberto Zurita, and mother of actor Sebastián Zurita. The couple also had a second son, Emiliano Zurita.
The actress and producer died Tuesday, Feb. 26, from respiratory failure, according to the statement issued by her family.

"It was always her wish to safeguard personal and family matters in absolute privacy in order to lead a normal life, parallel to our profession and the media exposure derived from our work," the statement read in part.

"It is this public part of our lives that today forces us to share with all of you this great loss for our family."

Bach was born in 1959 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated with a law degree and later moved to Mexico to dedicate herself to acting.

In 2013, she starred alongside Aracely Arámbula in the series "La Patrona," succeeded the following year by the production "La Impostora," in which they co-starred as the principal villains.

Bach retired from the stage at that point from supposed health problems.

"Christian was an exemplary actress and mother; a super mother and a wife that filled the life of her family with love, courage, valor and the great desire to live life to the fullest, in a way that was congruent with her ideas and yearnings," the statement added.

Bach rose to fame with a secondary role in the telenovela "Los Ricos También Lloran" (1979); later starring in "Bodas de Odio" (1983), "De Pura Sangre" (1985), "La Chacala" (1997) and "La Patrona" (2013) and produced alongside her husband "Azul Tequila" (1999), among other projects.

The actress won the Best Actress award at the 1984 and 1989 TVyNovelas and the Best Actress TuMundo award from Telemundo in 2013.

She also worked in film with over a dozen movies like "Brigada en Acción" (1977), "Gavilán o Paloma" (1985), "Soy Libre" (1991), "El Secreto" (2011) and "Deseo" (2013).

WHY are you being challenged over Baba Suwe’s ailment?

Some of the things they said is that I am heartless. “Why would he say he sent N100,000 to Baba Suwe’? What can the amount do in the context of his sickness?” Unfortunately, most of them were addressing the issue as if what I said is not right. Several people were insulting me, including one Ogunseki and Sayo Opeyemi. What I simply said was that we should not be attacked or called heartless when situation like that arises. I have said it many times that perhaps these people are expecting too much from us. What I said was that we should use Babatunde Omidina’s case as a study. If I belong to an association, I will definitely belong to other bodies too. If I have a challenge, particularly in the area of health and the church, mosque or traditional association I belong to cannot rescue me, then the professional body I belong to should not be attacked. If you refuse to challenge the religious body I belong to or my family, why should you challenge my colleagues? I was just being practical.

So what is your son’s involvement in this issue?

He got involved because those who know him as my son actually asked why his father was addressing the issue of Baba Suwe the way I did. My son is not an actor. I don’t even have any of my children in that line. However, this is not the first time we are having issues with the public concerning our sick colleague. They always claim we don’t lend helping hands to one another. I don’t know where they got that impression from. There is need for us to address this form of embarrassment. That is one of the reasons I usually stay away from the media, because whatever I say will be misinterpreted. I try to stay away from controversy.

Not that I am scared of anybody, but if they remove sentiment from this issue, they would know I never said anything against him. When they said we did not contribute money towards his ailment. I merely explained that I met him in 2017 at one of our conventions, and was surprised that his sickness had worsened. I mentioned that I called my people on the need for us to do something urgently and we raised N100, 000, which he did not acknowledge. As such, I was just trying to let you know that we did not abandon him as claimed by the public. As a matter of fact, we even went ahead to speak to a health organisation on how they can be of help to him. You can confirm this from the present president of TAMPAN, Mr. Latin. At that time, the health organisation even called Baba Suwe but unfortunately, he did not pick their calls. What people should understand is that, this sickness did not start yesterday, and we had tried in the past. It was when he needed more help that he cried out.

Is it true that the association has been taking care of him before now?

I cannot say that the association has been the one taking care of him. All I can say is that we did not abandon him. We could not continue because he has been on it for a while. If we say that, it means we have been doing the day in-day out care. And it is not possible for the association to be taking care of him for forever. We can only assist. We have done our own part; that is not to say that the part is enough. But we have to know the situation of things, before we can go further.

Having cleared the issue of Baba Suwe, let’s talk about you. How did you become an actor?

The environment I grew up attracted me to the profession. I grew up in the village and there were lots of activities in that area. Then, I had the chance of watching people do dance, drumming, and singing. So I discovered I could do all these things after leaving modern school. I saw different travel theatre groups coming and putting up almost the same performances which we were paying to watch. And I decided to go into the profession and do better.

Looks like the dancing, drumming and singing have disappeared…

Life itself is dynamic. The only thing that is constant is change. That does not mean that we should forget travelling theatre or live performances. If I have to do such now, I have to convince people, and it is more expensive. And because of technology; emergence of film production, going into live performance will not yield much money now. You will spend much on putting it together, but people would rather go to the cinemas, or go for home video, which is close to reality. For live performances, there are some things you cannot achieve on stage, and if you want to get such, you have to spend more money. So people run away from it.

How will you say the emergence of satellite TV has helped the film industry?

It could have helped a lot in Nigeria but nothing works here probably because producers are not being paid. I am not saying we are not being paid at all. But most of these content buyers are exploiters. And once you cannot get what you want, you have to be satisfied with what you get. Because even that time when you are gone, and you have a good agreement, you will get every kobo you deserve and the money will keep coming.

We can recall that there was a time you went back to school…

It was to broaden my knowledge. When you go back to school, there are somethings you will get to know more about. I am glad I did. I am happy I had the opportunity and I made use of it. Secondly, I want to eradicate illiteracy in my immediate family. Because I don’t want any of my children saying, I am just an actor and not literate. I don’t know where they got the news that I have many children, thus calling me ‘father of all nations’. All my children are educated.

What would you say to actors having extra marital affairs?

There is no occupation that does not have its challenges and peculiarities. That is the bitter truth. One of the peculiarities of people with stardom is this. I am not encouraging anybody to do that or say it is the best way of life, but majority of the entertainers will fall victim. That is because you do not know that a person somewhere has feeling for you and before you know it, you are trapped.

But are you saying there are no ways to avoid them?

There are ways. But that is because you are not in this occupation. All these ladies you see, it is not as if they do not want to have husbands. And there is no way they can detect who has a genuine intention among these people. Some of them are on the look out to get down with some of these ladies because they are popular; immediately they sleep with them, they walk away. But these ladies would have believed that they have come across their own husband. These ladies are not wayward, but they are only out to satisfy their curiosity. Being popular is one of the disadvantages because most of them do not know that they are being used. Some would even flaunt their wealth before these ladies. I really pity most of them. I am not a reverend father; even reverend fathers fall victim.

Are your children under the same roof?

Yes, ask anybody, they will tell you that.

So how do you manage all these women?

I have only one wife. I have been married to just one woman all my life. I don’t know where people get their information from. But I will not reject any child of mine and they will be under my roof. What makes me different is that I will not hide away my inadequacies; that I have fallen victim of lust. I know I have done it. There is no way I will pretend that I have not engaged in such act. I am a very upright person.

But how do you determine the paternity of these children?

If tomorrow, any of the women comes out and say the child is not mine, I will gladly say goodbye. How do I determine the one that I actually got married to? Or have we not seen the case of being married and the children not yours? I cannot be doing DNA for every child. You see, I have zeroed my mind on some things. Those that are not mine and I am taking care of, I know them. I cannot just be saying all these on social media that I am sponsoring some children in schools and paying their fees every term. I also know some elders in the industry that when you call them and ask ‘who is Dele Odule? They will tell you ‘He is a fantastic and good guy. I know some that I am obliged to, that I do things for in my own little way till date. I don’t need to flaunt all these. So if a woman had said in the past that a child is mine and I have educated such child and she comes back today and says the child is no longer mine, I will bid her farewell. But I tell you today that I have never in my life married two wives. They say I have used women to adorn my home, that I have 10 children from 10 different women, where did they get those facts? And out of these 10 children; I have twins. I have less than 10 children and they call me ‘father of all nations’.

What do you dislike about being a public figure?

My privacy. If I have opportunity of coming back to life, I do not want to be a public figure. I just want to be a comfortable person; I don’t want to come into acting. I don’t pray to be in that system again. Sometimes I will just exclaim and say it is true I had something with this girl. And if I cannot fight it, I will just say bring the child. Or do people think that I just accept them as they are giving birth to those children?

Who takes care of these children?

I do. I play the role of the father and mother. I have five graduates and some working on their masters programme. The other ones are in boarding schools. They come home during the holidays. I take them to school and pick them up on holidays. When they are back, they come into my room, we talk, and play and we have cordial relationship. You cannot know they are not from the same mother because I never allow that.

According to reports gathered, Asamoah Gyan wife, Gifty would be ready to forgive the Ghanaian footballer.

But that’s where we currently are, as a recent Instagram post by the mother of three has sparked wild speculation online.
To welcome the new month of March, which started yesterday (Friday), Gifty posted a photo of herself on Instagram, complete with a caption which indicated she might be ready to forgive her scumbag husband.

She posted: “Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace #Happy New Month”

The conciliatory caption has sparked wild speculation that she’s ready to forgive her husband, either to enable her to move on or to seek a reunion. It better be the former because the only thing Gyan deserves from her is to take half of whatever he owns in court.

The couple had been together for close to two decades until Gyan filed for an annulment, alleging that his three kids with Gifty were not his. He asked for a DNA test but that came back positive, indicating he is indeed the father of his kids.

Gyan has reportedly been doing all that so he can kick his wife out and settle down with a socialite known as Nina Atala.
