Amtired: IF YOU ARE NOT IN THEIR SHOES, YOU CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND THE PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA BEHIND WHAT THEY WENT THROUGH AND WHAT MANY ARE STILL GOING THROUGH..
I HAVE WRITTEN JAMB AND POST JAMB FOR GOOD SIX TIMES (6 YEARS)WITH GOOD RESULTS, STILL NO ADMISSION!
CAN YOU IMAGINE, AFTER SCORING 238 IN JAMB I WENT FOR THIS YEAR POST JAMB IN UNIBEN, THE QUESTIONS WERE VERY VERY FRIENDLY TO ME AND I DID JUSTICE TO EVERY SINGLE QUESTION INDEPENDENTLY BECAUSE I SINCERELY PREPARED FOR THE EXAM.
WHEN THE POST JAMB RESULTS WERE RELEASED, I CHECKED MINE ONLY TO SEE "MALPRACTICE CASE" WITHOUT THE RESULT BEING RELEASE UP TILL THIS DATE!
THE FIRST OPTION TO ME WAS TO COMMIT SUICIDE! BUT I DECIDED TO TRAVEL FROM LAGOS BACK TO UNIBEN TO FIND OUT WHAT WENT WRONG, NO ATTENTION WAS GIVEN TO ME. I DID NOT DO ANYTHING RELATED TO MALPRACTICES AND I WASN'T CAUGHT DOING ANYTHING WRONG IN THE EXAM HALL, WHY HAVE THEY REFUSE TO RELEASE MY RESULT UP TILL DATE? THIS IS NOT FAIR.
I'M WRITING IN CAPITAL LETTERS TO SHOW HOW BAD THE FEELING IS. IF ONLY THERE IS SOMETHING HIGHER THAN SUICIDE, I WOULDN'T MIND.
THE PAIN IS UNBEARABLE..

Kudos Amtired, but don't be tired. I hope your story is indeed truthful. So what next? Take pains to seek what the JAMB brochure or the University website recommends in a case like this (most likely nothing, but seek, to confirm), Write a POLITE letter to the Head of the Admissions office or the Registrar, request that your case be investigated, but do not beg for any special favours, indicate a deadline of about 1 week within which you expect to be reached or would be tempted to take further action. Don't post it, make 4 extra copies or more, go back to the University & officially drop a copy, request that the clerk collecting it signs or possibly stamp a copy showing the date of collection, take 10 minutes break outside then request to see the concerned officer, dedicate a whole day for this purpose, if you succeed, (as I AM HOPEFUL YOU WOULD) Explain your situation to him as politely as you can, he either will convince you that he will look into it, or talk to you in a way that will convince you are not making progress, if the latter be the case, tell him the main purpose is to ensure that you are not being penalized for what may have been an error in the system, since there is no system that is error free, & if admission has been concluded or the result is released & you don't qualify you could learn a lesson or two that could make you a much better person in future, tell him an NGO is offering to take up the case on your behalf if nothing is done within the said deadline. Kindly revert back to me if you face ANY CHALLENGES at any stage of this process. Great Nations are not built overnight, and may also not be built in Milleniums without classical sacrifices to purify the system. Enough said

Great Nigerian Youths, I salute u for your concerns about our dear country, & the variety of opinions indicate the variety of interests, thoughts & thought processes. The issue tabled on this thread does not seem like an agenda to put any of us on trial, but just the news about the effort of what a public servant has chosen to spend public funds on, and our response may just be as simple as pressing a like button on face book, in the absence of a dislike button we may explain a better way to do the job. But above all before we dorn the toga of public opinion leaders we should make adequate efforts to get ourself enlightened on the particular issues we want to engage people on.

Aregbesola as far back as 2006 while campaigning for the 2007 elections promised to engage 20,000 unemployed youths within 100 days of resuming as Governor if voted, in 2007 the mandate was given to his opponent, while battling for his mandate in court he challenged his opponent to go ahead & employ these No of youths & that he will endeavour to retain them & employ another batch when he regains his mandate. His opponent tried to the best of his ability & employed 500 youth (named OYIN Corps) & paid them between N5-7k based on their qualifications. 3 years after he regained his mandate within 83 days recruited & Trained 20,000 & has continued to pay them N10k till date after the first anniversary the project was reviewed & those who had left the scheme for better opportunities about 3000 were asked to be replaced. So that the scheme would retain it's 20,000 capacity. Aregbesola has since retained OYIN corps members separately & upgraded their stipend to N10k.

Would not be futile to be wondering wether such a leader can sustain welfare package for vulnerable senior citizens that are less than 2,000 in Number. It will also be meaningless to engage anybody who may think the elders do not deserve it.

Back to the Youth project tagged OYES, the World Bank has taken a close look at it & promise to continue to do so, because Youth unemployment is a global challenge & this project is considered one of the most courageous scales to tackle it, based on this the Federal Govt engaged the World Bank to study it for replication across the country thro Federal funding with an initial Target of 10k per state which is now being reduced to 2k per state in 6months batches, 22 states that showed interest were taken to Osun state for a retreat about two months ago, the World Bank is currently taking expertsin interested states to look at similar models in developing countries like Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya & Brazil to ensure World class execution.

FUNDING. Aregbe's predecessor met the state revenue at N200m per month, he also ensured it did not get lower or higher by the time he left office 7years later, the present Govt within one year pushed it to N600m within one year without increasing taxes, but by merely plugging loopholes. Aregbe is pumping N30b into Educational infrastructure which does not include the cost of Tablets & e textbooks for all SSS students, which is to incorporate all their textbooks both at less than $150 per student

This is just a fair attempt to address some of the issues that have been raised on this thread, these & other state & Federal efforts are being studied by the regional integration Programme called DAWN (Development Agenda for Western Nigeria) a non partisan Programme for the geographical entity called South West. God, gosh, I can't fathom the reasons for the reason why some clot love to orchestrate, fabricate, concorct and inovate negative, erroneous and ludicrous information and tidings...? Mtchewww. I just had a one on one contact over the phone with one of the long n' big legs in the campus and I was made to believe that the cut-off for law is yet serving terms and polishment in the hands of the admission officios mainly cos the so called NASU body sobriethly insisted to go on strike a few days ago, and I don't think nothin' should happen about it till the strike is being culled off! Please, peace and pardon, if I sound a bit blushy!

@Cloaked, OCT 31 is the deadline JAMB gave for the completion of 2012 Admission but dont expect OAU to go by this date.

@ Godslove, sorry for the ambiguity, I have no quarrel with catchment areas, my request is on the source of info on the ELDS issue, I ask because I know that it is periodically reviewed, presently unknown to many of us, if you go to Jamb database, more applicants are recruited from SE or SS than SW. Meaning that the SW is quietly loosing or rather has lost it's strength & good health in this regard as a region, whereas, each state still 'appears' healthy. Development statistics require in-depth scrutiny by all to get the best out of them, lifestyles are dynamic,old myths are gradually fading & may have passed our projected benchmarks without notice. Governance today require active follower-ship, our leaders are quite complacent with fat salaries to care enough about efficient Monitoring & Evaluation. You may wonder where they were when unqualified Companies were collecting oil subsidies for instance. Our future is indeed in our hands ....much more later

Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, CrossRiver, Ebonyi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kastina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara

Can you kindly let us know the source/date of this list (Jamb Brochure/ website, I presume), to enable us know how current it is. Obviously no Southwest State is stated here, (& probably the only region that is so 'honoured'). Lagos used to be on this list, but I am aware that the list gets reviewed periodically. The public need to be made aware what this period 'P' is. Unknown to many, the catchment cut-off points of many Southwest Universities is higher than the merit cut-off pts of same course in many other parts of this country, this can be frustrating, but very encouraging in regions like SE & SS, consequently more applicants are recorded, more admissions are secured in these places. I am not trying to throw a tribal bomb here, the solution actually may just be that SW youths should rise up to the challenges of benefitting from the educational opportunities that lies in other parts of Nigeria. For example can we say a 'legless' student X who has all his relevant O Level papers & a score of 255 in Jamb with the desire to study Medicine & does similarly not meet the cut- off pt in 3 years, may end up settling for Zooology, or get derailed over time by other distractions from pursuing higher education further, would such an human resource have a more fulfilling career or contribute to nation building more by spending the rest of his life studying animal species, whereas the nation has greater needs for medical doctors with above average intelligence. Or should he console himself by the fact that he studied his Zooology in Grt Ife, (that is now OAU, & tomorrow may become JAMIU, James Ibori University. Nigerian criminals spend all their incarceration tenure & looted resources in planning a grand re- integration that is usually designed to shame our nation). We should learn as the Americans have, that 'the law school does not make the lawyer' meaning that if you select the very best lawyers in any nation, they would most likely not have attended the same law school, their commitment to the career is more often borne out of their perception & zeal for true Justice. While we thirst for OAU cut-off point, I serve you this FOOD for THOUGHT fellow countrymen, as it occurs to me in my midnight reflections.
