Kudos to Rochas, its embarrassing how confident some of us are with our ignorance, some even take it a step further by being wicked in their accusations, Some have deliberately mixed up the intention of rochas foundation with that of the IMO govt Free education smply means free tuition, any other thing is an extra Most foundations are simply helping to actualise God's wish to make this world better & he has not abandoned them, Foundations are sustained more by rich ideas than by the wealth of their founders A university does not have to be a 'do it all' as we are familiar with in Nigeria, It may choose to specialise to the limit of its funding With advancement in technology degrees are being offered online, it is what pple do with knowledge that counts, not where they acquired it Foundations apart, some govts across the world are offering free university education, Finland & some other Nordic countries are there I was in Saudi Arabia last year, & met Nigerians who are schooling there, some claim for as long as 7yrs,diff course as long as you dont fail, the govt pays even foreigners for going to school we need to widen our horizon, & see which positive directions some nations are moving in, civilization is like a race, those who are behind need to move at a faster speed in other to catch up with those in front, talk less of surpassing them. ........ Back to Rochas, there is nothing wrong in trying to find out how he made his money, but he has repeated this severally while campaigning for presidency, beyond that, we all heard when he was accused (amongst others) of not delivering on an aviation contract, he defended himself well & was the only one offered an apology by govt. More importantly is the facts that he confessed to sowing the early seeds of his business in the NORTH, northerners have not come out to accuse him of ripping them off, even in this political dispensation where false witnesses can easily be bought, & the EFCC is a willing tool in the hand of the ruling party Youths of our nation, if all u can do is to encourage & pray for is dreams to be actualised, God will deem you to have made a contribution, you can keep your votes to recycle the other clueless people u have voted for in the past ........ ![]() |

At the Osun Education Summit in February 2011, chaired by Prof Wole Soyinka, Aregbe lamented about the critical situation of Osun State Univ. & promised to look at these key issues High School Fees He said no civil servant, living on his legitimate salary can afford to send their children to this university He said deductions are made by previous admin from Local Govt Councils to fund the School, whereas some of the the LGs do not have students there He promised that the issue will be radically looked into He asserted that multi-CAMPUS system may contribute in part to ineffective management of resources As we speak it is obvious that the man is concerned about these things , but some challenges are more serious than others I am sure AREGBE is believable & will respond sooner than later. |

Africa's challenges are many, so are its criticisms, solutions are what is greatly lacking. While some are trying, but unfortunately in the wrong directions believing that physical infrastructures ALONE would get us their, yet there are a few who are developing human capital, building infrastructures of the mind, investing in the youths to meet future challenges. The truth is that in any race, the person behind (as Africa is) needs to move at a faster speed if he EVER hopes to catch up with the people in front. The report below rekindles some hope, however when it was first mentioned, many waved it off as an empty promise, even now that it is being implemented the vision is not too clear to some, as events unfold lets hope many more will come to the the realisation that Africa's greatest resource are its people & like other resources we need to add some value before we can expect great returns. "Indications have emerged that the training of shortlisted candidates for the Osun Youths Empowerment Scheme (OYES), an initiative of Governor Rauf Aregbesola aimed at empowering 20,000 youths within his 100 days in office, has begun. Already, a two-day workshop had been held for the trainers of the candidates that would participate in the scheme. The workshop was held in Osogbo, the state capital on Tuesday and Wednesday. Speaking at the two-day Train-the-Trainer workshop, one of the Coordinators of the scheme, Abiodun Aremu, pointed out that the take-off of the programme through the workshop was a clear demonstration of Aregbesola's determination to banish unemployment and poverty in the state. Aremu, a former general secretary, Labour and Civil Society Coalition, said the initiative was unprecedented considering the huge figure of 20,000 youths involved. According to him, the philosophy behind the scheme was to place human capital development as a prelude to social and other forms of development. He said the co-coordinators of the scheme would ensure that they make the initiative a reality to the satisfaction of the government aimed at engaging the youths without fair or favour. Also at the occasion, the Publicity Secretary of the scheme, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said that the ongoing process was the fulfillment of electioneering of Aregbesola's administration. Oyintiloye, who is also the Assistant Director, Community Forum of the Bureau of Communication and Strategy, office of the governor, said the government would continue to explore all possibilities to raise the social and economic profile of the people. He said about 280,000 youths applied for the scheme, out of which 20,000 would be shortlisted, noting that other applicants would be taken into consideration and accommodated in subsequent scheme, especially in agriculture. Oyintiloye said: "Every great nation is a product of the deliberate efforts by all classes of people at nation building, irrespective of their age, sex or ideological group, and young people have always had a major role to play. We need to promote the efficiency of joint work and its impact on the living conditions of the population, and provide the government with a methodology to ensure articulation of plans and priorities. This is the basis for the scheme. "It is time to empower our youths through active and proactive positive participation instead of being engaged as political thugs, and constituting a menace to the society." source;http://allafrica.com/stories/201102090359.html |
Sorry, I took time off to refresh after a tough week. I WISH I hv the time to respond to all replies before I Lvn TOWN IN THE NEXT FEW MINUTES to earn a lvn. However, note that I'm not the beneficiary of this appointment, neither is it Seun or any of his admins, even they, can only guess I did not mention his screen name because I do not have his permission to do so , or to even announce the appt on NL From my privileged knowledge the person in question he can best be described as shy, gentlle, humble & intelligent He has in the past opened one or two threads on the Gov. but his most complimentary remark on NL is a prayer in 2008 that the man wins He has never been engaged in abusing or engaging the Gov's opponent in any way (neither have I) The spirit behind this apptmt is evident in the designations, which simply indicates that the Gov recognize internet as a powerful media & his strategy is to separate it from electronic, press & traditional community forum ways of reaching out to people at various levels, Much more later ![]() |

Interesting, to run into a thread about the celebrity status of a former student of mine. A lady with many sides, & has always shined, dreamy eyes, fine face, great height, unique interests. She has since moved on to greater things, like a British law degree. Maybe soon her admirers would be discussing her Legal/Political career. Just may be. Best wishes ![]() |
Pitching is allowed in a number of professions, architecture, advertising etc. but this is not the best way to go about it 4 either party or the profession. A bad brief can hardly lead to the best solution, however broke both parties may be, if u notice some smart guys have started deleting their BIDS It's a free world anyway. Who no know Go know! ![]() |
