Make the cynics and enemies of progress 'perch' till the governor's 2-yrs elapses and then hold him to account. Clearly the project would be a public-private-partnership with the Chinese shouldering the bulk of the funding. |
arinze2015:Guy, why not face your own state instead of coming off as an enemy of progress? Bad belle dey run belle.

orimsamsam:Guy, your head dey there. That impostor ni the same person/handle as eyi to pe arae ni EdeNation yen. Alakori ati Eleribu ni bobo yen. E even dey talk to himself. Babanla digbolugi ni. |
Any Yoruba subgroup that denies or denounces being a part of the race was most likely never Yoruba to begin with, because the common denominator for all Yorubas is the intrinsic inability to loose the consciousness that ties and binds us as a people. It's the same reason why till today Yoruba descendants all over the world, be it in Brazil, Benin, Togo, Ivory Coast, e.t.c still retain that Yoruba consciousness no matter what (even after several centuries of cross-breeding and race-mixing), are ever proud of their roots and culture, do everything to preserve it, and even flaunt it with it gusto wherever they may find themselves -- I mean really, who wouldn't be proud to be associated with such a renowned race of kings, empires, and achievers? Therefore any 'Yoruba' person that comes forward to deny being one of us was probably never one of us to start with -- perhaps such a person belongs to an entirely different ethnicity or group that was assimilated into the wider Yoruba race/nation in a distant (or not so distant) past. That's mighty fine as far as I am concerned because we Yorubas are not so desperate to 'claim' other peoples or form attache by force, usually it's the other way round (like some people I know who are fraudulently trying desperately to super-impose themselves into our rich history) ![]() |
Probz:Una sabi unasef na. If the shoe/cap fits then wear it. ![]() |
I can see the flatthheads are here with their usual mischief. Make una no worry. One thing I always trust my Ondo brothers for is their usual way of flogging some sense into you lots when y'all step out of line. The Deji and his boys have a very special and locally customized cane and way of treating una fvckup wella, and no amount of fake & empty a$$ kissing can change that. ![]() |
laudate:Chai! Na so Ojukwu jus mess up himself and his people via a needless war, when he could have gotten exactly what he went to war over without firing a single shot! Na over-sabi/thoughtless exuberrance/over-ambition cause am. Oh what a missed opportunity that was. The bobo should have been flogged thoroughly for such an epic blunder. |
Olu317:Bros, i think you quoted the wrong person. ![]() |
laudate:I get your point but dang it! It's so frigging annoying!! |
Tequilah:Can you just imagine the guy is still arguing blindly and insisting on his imaginary theory or should we call it fantasy? The explanation is plain and very common sensical yet he's apparently not bright enough to get it. Them folks must either not have a history they're proud of, or are just plain shamless for wanting so badly to fraudulently superimpose themselves into Yoruba history. It's quite shameful I tell you. |
scholes0:Bros, with all due respect please perish this thought. The Oba of benin (undisputed representative of the edoid groups) was at the vanguard of the excision of the then midwest from the Western region during the first republic. In other words, these folks have been consistent in their desire to have a separate identity for themselves, therefore comments like this (no matter how well-intentioned) is bound to be exploited by the uncouth elements from that corridor to take shots at our people. They haven't shown any concrete desire to become a part of us, if anything they go to desperate lenghts to repudiate and even denounce our shared histories so why must we continue to suck up to them? For what exactly? |
Oh no. Not this overflogged and overhyped Bini link again. Bini royal influence in Lagos starts and ends on the Lagos island, (and by extension doesn't include any other part of Lagos state as a whole). There was no conquest as some people would like to claim. Rather, the Yorubas were being 'shofishtikated' and left the Bini to do their thing while they did theirs with loyalty pledged to their kings (Idejo). Bini's presence only lasted through the first Bini man. The two ruling houses on the Island were/are products of pure Yoruba. One of them was fathered by an Ilesa man. It is similar to the case of Ilorin. The Fulani blood line to the throne and has long been occupied by Yoruba blood who find pleaure in forming Fulani. I repeat for emphasis that this Bini historical link to that small part of Lagos Island (not even the entire state) is way overrated. We need to quit indulging these rabble rousers. |
kaydutchboy:I don't know what your real motive is but this same report has been overflogged on this forum wella. I am sure you deliberstely glossed over where the report clearly stated: There’s no evidence that Tinubu was ever indicted for any crime. Why you are trying so hard to criminalize him when even the U.S govt failed to do so defies logic. At worst he was laundering money for some folks that may have been involved in shaddy deals, but how you lots translates that to mean he was a drug trafficker is what remains a mystery. Even the U. S where this occurred didn't find enough evidence to indict him for any criminal act yet una no gree us hear word.None of this is news. The U.S has since moved on, Tinubu has moved on. Nigerians have moved on and frankly don't give a fvck. You better go and find something more worthwhile to do with your time. |
Op, you better not give yourself heartattack over Tinubu matter. The same Tinubu who hosted the U.S Consular general in Nigeria at his residence a few days ago? Yinmu. Tinubu's past is an open book by now mr. Worse has been said about him, especially leading up to the 2015 elections so quit giving yourself unnecessary headache. https://www.nairaland.com/3596625/tinubu-visited-john-bray-us

OPCNAIRALAND:Bro, I think it's safe to say that Mr. Lawani's theories are based on speculation without any hard evidence as I doubt there's any oral, written or documented evidence to prove what he's saying hence his usage of words like "it cannot be less than 3-5 thousand years ago". Na mere speculation. It's like saying all black people ultimately come from the same single source. That is only logical anyhow, but yet doesn't change the fact that Igalas and Zulus are different from Yorubas today. ![]() |
igbodefender:Guy, quit flogging a dead horse. This subject has been settled so una no fit rewrite hundreds of years old history with the stroke of a pen, just like that?! Ugbo (forest) is same as Igbo (central Yoruba meaning for forest) in Ugbo dialect. It's just common sense that Igbo (Ugbo) in Yoruba has an entirely different meaning in Yoruba than in Igbo/Igbo language. Same as Ogba (compound) in Yoruba has a different meaning in Igbo. Just common sense. Yet you lots in your desperation are trying to superimpose yourself into Yoruba history. The Ugbo (Igbo) people that were at Ife are the same ones that are in Ugboland in Ilaje area of presentday Ondo state. Read http://punchng.com/ooni-olugbo-supremacy-battle/ by the Olugbo of Ugboland for some much needed education concerning this. This Igbo attache by force is becoming sickening. You people are too desperate for comfort, for real. Stay on your lane and be proud of your history. Or is it that you lots are not proud of your own history? |

Kondomatic:We already have them in worthy places outside Yorubaland, even in as far away Ghana, ivory coast, benin, and the West sef. Unfortunately our folks just don't see the business sense in doing such in your parts. If your environment is fertile enough the investors will naturally come. It's not rocket science. Heck, even your own wealthy few (who made their money outside the region) have to be begged and cajoled to return home to invest there, let alone Yoruba people. Why run to a place where the indigenes are fleeing from? Makes no business sense whatsoever. Sorry. ![]() |
Eastactivist:Don't even sweat it. Your incomplete brain no fit process am. |
Eastactivist:The flatness of your heads across the Niger has surely robbed you lots of common sense. If you call the Yorubas who have aboriginal and indigenous Kings and own/sell land in Lagos 'refugees', what then would one call your almajiri/economic asylum seeking brethren? |
Abeg when these 'developers' go begin claim Lasgidi as 'nomansland' ? ![]() |
