Politics / Shema Led PDP Faction To Boycott Atiku’s Campaign Rally In Katsina by ODVanguard: 12:59pm On Dec 20, 2022

The former Governor of Katsina State and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the State, Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema along with 10 out of the 14 members of the party’s State Working Committee as well as 19 out of the 34 local government party chairmen in the state may boycott Alhaji Abubakar Atiku’s presidential campaign rally scheduled to hold in Katsina today, Tuesday.

This is contrarily to the claim made by the Chairman of the Atiku-Lado Campaign Council, Senator Umar Ibrahim Tsauri who while briefing newsmen on Sunday said: “I would like you to believe and agree with me that PDP is one big united family with full cooperation ready to take Nigeria to the promised land.”

Similarly, at the press briefing, the Director General of Atiku-Lado Campaign Council, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa on his part said: “between him and the former Governor, they have agreed to put behind their differences and work together to send the ruling All Progressives Congress APC parking from the seat of power come 2023 elections.”

Mustapha said “Let me confirm to you that last Thursday, I think we spent over 2 hours discussing with the former Governor, Ibrahim Shema and we agreed on one thing, to chase APC from power.

“We both agreed and confirmed that what the good people of the state wants is for us to join hands together to achieve this.

“Before this encounter, I want you to know that it’s been over 15 years that we have not met nor spoke to each other face to face. But we have now met, sat down, discuss and clarify lots of issues.

“So, be rest assured that he will participate in all the lined up activities we informed you about. There’s no cause for alarm now, may be until after the Atiku’s visit and he’s not there, then we can begin to say why is this one and that one not present.”

Reacting to the statement when contacted by Vanguard, the embattled acting chairman of Katsina PDP, Salisu Lawal Uli, has put the claim of both the Chairman and the Director General of the Atiku-Lado Campaign Council in doubt as he said that all is still not well with the Katsina PDP.

Uli said: If their claim is actually true, since yesterday and today they are making adequate preparation, and the highest organ of the party, the state executive committee and 10 members out of the 14 members of the State working committee have not been informed of any development of the presidential candidate visits to Katsina State? Why also has 19 out of the 34 local government party chairmen in the state too have not been involved in the process?

When asked if those of them in Shema’s camp will participate in the Atiku presidential campaign rally, Uli said: “If you are not in the knowhow of the scheme of event, how can you participate, how can you be there?”

Shema’s faction of the Katsina PDP has been at loggerhead for sometime now with the camp of the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke over irreconcilable differences, part of which has driven Uli and eight members of the state PDP working committee to court to seek redress.

Politics / Re: IPOB Files Terror Criminal Charge Against Simon Ekpa In Finland (Pix) by ODVanguard: 11:14am On Apr 17, 2022
I wonder why some igbos are acting surprised at the ongoing ipob-instigated campaign of terror in the SE. When Nnmadi Kanu went abroad sometime ago, and pleaded for funding to acquire weapons/arms from Igbos in diaspora, in anticipation of the militant phase of his struggle for Biafra actualisation (a phase we are all witnessing today beginning with the formation of the ESN), you lot thought he was kidding around or what? Abi na toy guns una think say e wan use the money buy?

Any student of history would have accurately predicted ipob's transition into its current terrorist form, going by MNK's (and more recently Simon Ekpa) signature rhetoric. Any attempt to absolve ipob from the ongoing terrorism taking place in the SE is at best playing the ostrich. Unfortunately, things have gotten so bad that at this point the only solution I see to stopping the ipob madness may require a mini-civil war that'll pit non-ipob Igbos against ipob-igbos, with the former emerging the victors.

LooL Your don't know what you are saying. Eguns are Yorùbá just like Àwórì. I thought you had a sensible rebuttal but all you had as a reference was border adjustments as if there are not Yoruba tribes domiciled beyond the Nigerian borders (Porto Novo/Ajashe, Popo are examples). You don't have an argument, Kid. By the way, I won't even dignify your comment about the Àwórì subgroup of Yorùbá with a response. Go to Isalẹ Èkó yourself and tell Àwórì they aren't Yorùbá. LooL !

Egun aren't Yoruba o. We just happen to be neighbors. It's like saying Tapa/Nupe or Edoid groups are Yoruba just because they live within close proximity to Yoruba folks. That's why Egun language is unintelligible to the average Yoruba person. Ditto Tapa and Edoid languages.

These monarchs have tasted all the beautiful women in the town, what is now left for the youth are mere leftovers. How many wives you say that Alaafin of Oyo married: 15?

It seems monarchy in Africa is all about chasing women's pants. There is one king in Swaziland who married dozens of wives too.

Many African Kings have the privilege of sampling more puna on a scale that most 'ordinary' men can only dream of. This is an opportunity that many of them can't pass up, hence their embrace of polygamy without hesitation.

Investigative:

That means if you are not among the criminal they won’t vote u or select you

It’s about understanding the game and positioning yourself to take power, accordingly. If the likes of Peter Obi or Adesina want to rule this country, they'll have to dine with the good, the bad, and the ugly of politics (not as if they're 'saints' themselves). No two ways about it. Soludo was smart enough to understand the game and he positioned himself accordingly; first by joining APGA, and then adopting the mannerisms of a typical politician and politics within his local environment. That's what a serious person that wants power does. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Politics / Re: Why Can’t Yoruba Present Akinwumi Adesina As A Presidential Candidate by ODVanguard: 10:29am On Nov 29, 2021
Op, to answer your questions, you need to understand the political process in a democracy. Candidates emerge through political parties. And to stand a chance the candidate needs to be a member of the party he is vying under. The only way Adesina can emerge as a candidate to stand in any election is through a political party (it doesn't even have to be APC or PDP, though those two major parties stand the best chances in the political space).

And even if he's a member of the party, he needs to win the trust of majority of his fellow party members. Note that I said party members, not the general public, because it is the party members that decide who to select to represent their party on election day. The public/voters only gets a say on election day, after the political party would have selected a candidate to represent it through internal mechanisms.

This is the reason why often times some individuals perceived by the some sections of the public to be 'best qualified' for political office usually don't emerge or even run for office in democracies, because such folks are either not interested in politics, or do not have enough political capital to win the nomination of the party they belong to.

Political parties have to consider a lot of factors before selecting a candidate to fly their ticket. Typically, parties prefer candidates who can appeal to the most important voting blocs in the election in question. E.g, while the candidacy of Peter Obi may appeal to certain sections of the country, his party may still deny him the ticket if it feels he lacks support and isn't marketable in critical regions or voting blocs.

It's now left for that candidate to either change that perception within his party, or forget vying for the position. This is why folks like Peter Obi, Adesina (if he were an APC or PDP member) , or even Akeredolu, may not get their party ticket to run for the presidency for example.

IPOB is just made up of disgruntled Nigerians tired of the country, a capable president from their extraction would douse that agitation.

Akuko. A few amongst ipob members might be willing to drop their arms and accept an offer of amnesty and rehabilitation from the FG, akin to that offered and accepted by some boko haram and the Niger-Delta militants (whose agitation wasn't based on a desire to secede btw). But just as boko haram is still unrelenting in its ambition, so is the Biafran agitation. Even Kanu himself can't stop the agitation at this point.

South East is not like North East. Igbos want Biafra, what does North East want?

Boko Haram wants an Islamic state and are willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve that. Ipob (along with other less militant secessionist groups that litter the SE region) want an independent (predominantly Judeo-Christian) igbo state and have already picked up arms to drive home the point. So what's the difference between the two?

Politics / Re: 2023: Nnamdi Kanu’ll ‘force’ Igbo President To Declare Biafra – Dokpesi by ODVanguard: 3:32pm On Oct 18, 2021
The only solution to the Biafra issue is to balkanize Nigeria. A Nigerian president of igbo extraction won't stop igbo secessionist ambitions because the ipob movement has become an igbo version of boko haram in their persistence and tenacity. Many people thought that Buhari's presidency would pacify the North enough to rein-in and neutralize boko haram militants, but that strategy failed. Instead, there are now more bandits, kidnappers, and other militant groups running amok and worsening insecurity in the entire North, including the president's home state. Ipob has grown too powerful for any igbo elite alive to curtail.

I forsee a worsening state of insecurity in the South East with or without an igbo president at the saddle because the agitation has crossed the rubicon and passed the point of no return. In fact, Kanu himself can't even control the current ipob militants at this point. Like North East, like South East.

Femi Adesina has taken his Buhari asslicking business to insane proportions. I noticed he conspicuously left out Ahmadu Bello's name from the trio, most likely to avoid a brutal backlash from Arewa, and instead replaced it with the relatively insignificant Aminu Kano. He's smart enough to know that Arewa won't tolerate anyhow talk from him about Ahmadu Bello, but he's quick to throw Awolowo under the bus to curry their favour. I consider him very foolish.

You and your ilk think you are wise, but na una mumu pass. This your request is very very stupid nonsensical. Why should Yorubas be the ones to 'look for one igbo man... and support him'? Like seriously?? Were igbos the ones that 'looked' for and drafted OBJ into the Presidential race in '99? There's absolutely no precedent for what you are asking. Why didn't igbos compel Alex Ekwueme and other igbos that faced OBJ in the PDP primaries not to contest against him?

Look here. Interested Yorubas will contest the upcoming APC presidential primaries, and with or without the support of the igbos in the party, a Yoruba candidate will emerge as the APC flag-bearer. That's how bold and confident Yorubas are about their ambition. No be Yoruba people fault say ibos dey fear to contest against Atiku for the PDP ticket. Dat one na una fvcking business, e no consign us undecided. But this wack and played out attempt to blackmail and guilt-trip yorubas for rightfully aspiring for the presidency under the APC is DOA. In fact I heard Rasaq Okoya is fronting for one Igbo rich drug lord and I heard that the Dangote refineries is actually owned by an Igbo man too but just using Dangote image because he is Fulani and Buhari will only support him.

If you hear that Yoruba man video well, he said Igbo owned 96.73 of all the properties in Lagos and those real Estate name I gave up there that are Yorubas are just figure heads coz the real owners of those estates are the igbos.

This is not mentioning their 90% ownership of all properties in Oyo, Ogun, Kano, Kaduna, and Plateau state.
