I ignored you ofenmanu, omo ibo aje okuta ma momi for a reason.Your statement was dumb. your screen name should be palm oil rock hard eba.

You Yoruba should answer my question. You claimed that Yeruba people are more successful that Igbos, and thats why I need an explanation.

What are the so called Yeruba success? Is it OBJ presidency or Awolowo's suicidal death?

TewMuch:

Not that I care about being called Yeruba. But just to irk some few I will also resort to calling you guys IBO.All am saying is that some people think they want to get at Yoruba's because they don't want IBB.Serious flaw.No one wants IBB, and Yoruba's never wanted OBJ. He also happens to be the one that did the best for Ibo's suprisingly.Yoruba's will always vote for whoever has the interest of the state at heart and promises the best.E.g, Mimiko from the LP.If a PDP man comes that has a track record, whether Ibo,Yoruba or Hausa, Yoruba will vote him in.We never do crowd mentality, that is an Ibo trait.

Answer my question and stop blathering away your energy: What are the so called Yeruba success? Is it OBJ presidency or Awolowo's suicidal death?

Fear? I wish you guys will even support him.Serious yawa. Deal with Yoruba's? Big fail. You guys have never succeeded and never will.By the way, IBB's middle name is Badamasi? Hmm. Sounds like Gbadamosi to me. Someone adjusted his name to fit into the northern crowd. Keep deceiving yourselves. That is why Igbo's are a major tribe but are no where, cos u guys can't see beyond your backside holes.IBB will never amount to anything.Nd never did I say vote Jonathan. You are so intent on seeing Yoruba's come to your level. Not in a 1000 years.cos we have our own voice. We spearheaded fairness for jonathan's presidency as is required by the rule of law in all fairness. Leading up to where we are of having capable presidential candidates for the presidency.May the best man win, make sure history is on your side.cos no one will teach Igbo's before they move to cameroon or hide their identity if IBB wins.No one fears IBB. I pity you.hahahaha

Please can you explain to us where you lazy fools have succeded without the Igbos not having double of such success under their belt. . . .

And do not tell me that the so called Yeruba success was that OBJ was once a president;no other answer will sound dumber .

Politics / Re: Nigerian States From Richest To Poorest (ppp) by Ofemmanu: 10:25am On Aug 20, 2010
PapaBrowne:

The figures are near accurate, except for maybe Anambra. I would expect Anambra to perform better, however I think there are genuine reasons why Anambra would underperform in terms of GDP figures despite having so much commerce.

One of the best ways to assess the GDP of a city or state is to count the number of bank branches in the area. Banks follow the money. The higher the GDP of a state, the higher the number of bank branches available in the state.
Anambra state has a very high number of bank branches, beaten only by Lagos, Edo,Delta and Rivers. Kano state on the other hand has very few bank branches. Asides these two states, the GDP figures are near perfect if you correlate them with banking activity accross the country.

Another correlating factor to GDP performance is internet penetration. States with higher GDP figures tend to have higher internet penetration. You can check the states telecom companies launch their premium internet services and you would see that it falls in line with the GDP figures available.

@onlytruth
Anambra state's low GDP figure could easily be attributable to the fact that most of its wealthy citizens engage in commerce outside the state and not within the state. Onlytruth mentioned the guy from Capital Oil. Truth is he probably has no investments in Anambra state besides maybe his house in his village. Its just like Dangote. Dangote contributes heavily to the GDP figures in Lagos, Cross River, Kogi and a couple other states, but very very little to his home state of Kano. My point is that, the fact that a state has very wealthy indigenes doesn't necessarily translate into better economic credentials.

The agency that prepared this data got it wrong in all aspect of judgement. A state like Anambra can not be outside the first ten bracket if the those that prepared this data considered the enormity of commercial activities going on in the state.
My best guess is that the data reflects states that have more civil servants/government employees, and not the actual GDP figure.

The person who said that Jonathan would sweep the SouthEast in the presidential election is really out of touch with the reality.
IBB has more chance of winning majority of South East votes than Jonathan.

Politics / Re: Onitsha Plight-the Shame Of A Nation by Ofemmanu: 12:38pm On Aug 19, 2010
The problem bedevilling Onitsha is the same in all the major commercial cities in Nigeria . . .  Traders rarely pay tax!! In a country where citizens do not deem it fit to pay taxes, only God knows how they expect burgeoning developments.

Most of the revenue generated in Anambra state comes from motor parks and civil servants. The multi-millionaire traders, which are aplenty in Anambra state, rarely pay taxes because it is difficult for the government to asses their worth. Even if they are to pay at all, they would pay the amount which an okada man pays.

I will not try to convince you on this. We are Ndigbo, remember? You are entitled to your views, and I, mine.

Politics / Re: 2011: Jonathan Won’t Contest—Reuters by Ofemmanu: 12:26am On Aug 18, 2010
The ambiguous signals emanating from GEJ on issues concerning his presidential ambition do not augur well with the delicate Nigeria polity. He should make up his mind and tell Nigerians whether he is running or not.
I cant believe that the presidential election proper is around the corner and some potential contestants are still dillydallying.

Sharon_f:

Good evening Sir, please can you address the following topic:

What do you mean by sponsoring a programme? . . . .  . .  Any  candidate who is not promoting his campaign so as to endear himself to the electorate is just hoping to rig the election. And I think IBB is on the right track.

It is now obvious that IBB is running the best presidential campaign so far.
Politics / Re: South-East Leaders Endorse Jonathan For 2011 by Ofemmanu: 11:39pm On Aug 17, 2010
The so called Igbo leaders meeting was a blatant joke. It was really an insult to the intelligence of everyday Igbos who are pretty much aware the this gathering of some old discredited Igbo politicians like Iwuanyawu was a meeting of GEJ PDP Camp members. Non of these fake Igbo politicians that attended the meeting can garner a winning vote in their respective wards. The fact remains that majority of Igbos, not the diasporean internet worriors, will not vote for an Ijaw man in the person of Goodluck Jonathan whose godfathers are E. Clark and OBJ, even if he changes his middle name to Ebere Azikiwe.

It is also noteworthy to write that the only Igbo man who can garner votes for anybody is Odumegwu Ojukwu. He is the true Igbo leader and his support is the one that matters most ; hence, any Igbo meeting without Ojukwu is a mere charade and futile exercise.

Also, can someone post the full roster of the so called Igbo leaders that attended the meeting. How can a summit that was not attended by the creme de la creme of Igbo politics be taken serious.

Also there is nothing like Greater South-East in Nigeria’s political lexicon, when it comes to resource control, Ijaw man only knows about himself and his kins; thats the time they will spell it out that they do not need the Igbos.

If there is no serious Igbo man contesting for the 2011 presidential election, then majority of Igbos will probably vote for a candidate that has an Igbo man as a running mate.
Politics / Re: Ibb's Sponsored Programme by Ofemmanu: 11:37pm On Aug 17, 2010

Story, story , storyyyyyyy.

I never see political mumu like ATIKU before. A man that had not perfected his re-entry into a party starts making move to scuttle the chances of the incumbent who is the leader of the party. Besides he has enough battles to fight with nyako in his state.

A smart politician would have perfected all the papers before making his intentions known. I somehow see this as another OBJ scheme to nail Atiku's coffin. Disdained in AC , rejected in PDP . Foolish man

Atiku is a shrewd politician that knows his onions;as he said earlier, he doesn't need OBJ's boy, Nyako , to endorse his return to the party , which he was a founding member.

It is also noteworthy to state  that Atiku had been formally re-admitted into the party by the PDP chairman, whom also is a returnee. Hence, it is quite obvious that the PDP is now playing  hanky panky  by not granting Atiku his own waiver immediately.
Atiku is used to swimming in this type of river, and he knows that he will surely participate in the PDP presidential primary. For Sure!!!

0hsisi:

If it's Yoruba custom for a woman to kneel in her wedding gown to feed the husband a piece of cake, then let her kneel,it's just a few seconds anyway.
Why would you want to offend the elders around and perhaps start on the wrong footing with your new mother in law because of a simple harmless traditional gesture?
Is it worth it?
Igbo women kneel at the traditional wedding to offer the cup of wine to the husband
I did it
Every Igbo woman I know did it
It doesn't take a thing away
It is part of the traditional ceremony and that's about it.
The was the first and last time I knelt before him in public, the rest of the kneeling is done privately and I'm not complaining about that grin

Your post reassured me that there are still some reasonable women out there. . . . . Adaigbo o ga adiri gi mma!!!

Atiku deserves the waiver rightaway whether GEJ camp likes it or not. . . .If they were able to give the current PDP chairman a waiver with alacrity, so do they have to treat Atiku. Afterall, the PDP chairman, who is suffering from dysentry of the mouth, is also a PDP returnee who decamped with Atiku at the same time.
