Education / ASUU Strike; ASUU Is Likely To Call Off The Strike On Tuesday. -BBC by officialbeffinb(m): 4:02pm On Dec 22, 2020
University students in Nigeria may know their future on Tuesday as the ASUU teachers' union talks with a delegation from the Ministry of Labor to end the strike.

Labor Minister Chris Ngige said talks were 98 percent complete to end the teachers' strike that has been going on for more than eight months.

Labor spokesman Charles Akpa said the two sides would resume talks this afternoon, the eighth of its kind.

At their previous meeting, the government agreed to pay teachers 40 billion naira and 30 billion naira to renovate university facilities.

The main reason for the delay in the talks was the issue of teachers' salaries being denied by the government for the duration of the strike, which they said they had to pay and then continue working.

But the government wants them to continue working before they are paid.

Education / ASUU Strike: Varsities To Reopen January — Ngige by officialbeffinb(m): 3:55pm On Dec 22, 2020
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, says the Academic Activities in Nigeria Universities will resume January.

He says the negotiations between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal government had reached 98 percent, adding that it remains only two percent to be completed

He spoke Monday in Alor, Idemili South local government area of Anambra State, during the launch of Ngige free medical outreach at the Community’s Health Center.

Ngige said, “We have met about 98 percent of the request of ASUU. Some 5 to 2 percent is what you can call promissory notes.

“So, I am very hopeful that by midnight today, there are some works we are supposed to get on to do. They also have some work they are supposed to do on their own side with their people.

“Tuesday, we will meet in the afternoon and we will compare notes. We will put everything on the table and compare. I believe that we might have come to the end of the strike when we meet tomorrow.

“Well, it is a journey of a thousand miles which you will have to take one step first. Tomorrow, all things being equal, we will agree now to agree because we were disagreeing before.

“We disagree to agree and agree to disagree formerly. But tomorrow, I hope we will agree to agree. Once we do that, schools will re – open in January,” the Minister said.

Meanwhile, Ngige said the free medical outreach that was launched in Alor Monday, was equally extended to neighbouring communities like Abatete, Oraukwu, Ideani and Nnobi among others

He said those with different ailments like hepatitis, eye problems among others should go and be treated free of charge, adding that about 15 medical Doctors in different fields would handle the cases at the Health Center.

Education / ASUU Strike; The Union Is Still Consulting Its Members by officialbeffinb(m): 6:05pm On Dec 01, 2020
Strike: We are still consulting — ASUU President

The national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said it is still consulting on what its reply will be to the offers the Federal Government made for it to end its eight-month-old strike.

The National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said this on Tuesday in a chat with Vanguard.

According to him, the consultation is with members across the country and other critical stakeholders.

“We have what the government is offering and have transmitted same to our members nationwide and we are consulting on what the next line of action will be. You know a tree does not make a forest and our union is democratic in nature and practice.

“As for how long the consultation would take, I cannot say but it may go beyond this week. Whatever we decide on is definitely going to be in national interest, the interest of our children, the interest of our members and the good of all, ” he said.

Recall that after a series of meetings the leadership of the union held with the government team led by the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, the government promised to pay the withheld salaries of lecturers ranging from four to eight months.

The government also said it would release N75 billion for the revitalisation of the system and the payment of Earned Academic Allowances.

Romance / When A Man Cheats Relationship Continues But When A Woman Cheats Relationship En by officialbeffinb(m): 12:40pm On Nov 28, 2020
When a man cheats relationship continues but when a woman cheats relationship ends... Why?

Because a man is polygamous in nature.
Both in ancient and modern world
A man is entitled to marry more than one wife especially in Islamic religion and even non-muslims practice that a lot too. But have you seen a woman who's legally and comfortably married with two husbands? No!
This means, when a man cheat in marriage only one thing is expected of him logically which is; the chances of taking in another woman may be very high. Settled and understandable!
But what reason or how on earth can a woman justify herself for cheating in her marriage? That she wants to take in another husband? Oh wrong naw.
NB: I'm not also saying it men's right to cheat oh, it's simply means since they're polygamous in nature, one can easily find a common grnd to forgive them once they cheat. Whereas, 90% of men barely forgive a cheating woman cos it's not in the nature of women to practice polygamy. Therefore, sharing what's written in nature to belong to one man alone with multiple men is completely a taboo.
RELATIONSHIP TERM:
In my opinion, you gt no right to question someone who's not legally married to you about how they live.
Relationship is about two grown up adults having sex and fun. If it's God's will, you guys may end up as couple. But the reason men doesn't comprise for cheating in a relationship as well is this: When they compromise for you, it may provide for you the guts to also cheat in marriage if you guys eventually end up together.
And you know what it entails to cheat in marriage as a woman knowing really that woman is not polygamous in nature.

Education / FG, ASUU Back To Negotiation Table by officialbeffinb(m): 4:53pm On Nov 27, 2020
A week after the Federal Government made an offer of a cumulative sum of N65 billion to members of the Academic Staff of Universities, (ASUU), both parties have returned to talks.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige at the meeting which started both parties are expected to conclude on the proposal of government in their last meeting.

Ngige said ASUU has sent correspondence ahead of the meeting which stated their position on Earned Academic Allowance and the universities revitalization funds among others.

On his part, ASUU President , Professor Biodun Ogunyemi said the reason for sending the letter ahead was in order to save time and to avoid prolonging the meeting unnecessarily.

Ahead of Friday’s meeting ASUU appeared divided after feedback on government’s proposal suggested that some branches are willing to accept the offer and reopen their institutions.

Romance / Re: A Man Who Forgives His Wife/girlfriend For Cheating, Is He Strong Or Weak? by officialbeffinb(m): 11:33am On Nov 27, 2020
It's quite pathetic that a lot of Men here are justifying the act of cheating when it's a Man doing it but a murderous sin when a Woman does.
Some even allude that when a woman cheats, it's a whole different thing, she doesn't care about her spouse again, she can kill the man etc.
Do Men cheat with the image of their spouse in their head or because they love their wife.
This lopsided African mentality should be discouraged.
A woman doesn't treat cheating differently, neither is it their exclusive right to make marriage work.
Anything toxic that would disparage the sacredness of marriage should be discouraged entirely.

Education / ASUU Uncovers Multi-billion Naira Commodity Market, Other Properties Owned By AG by officialbeffinb(m): 3:49pm On Nov 19, 2020
by MUSTAPHA USMAN November 19, 2020.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has asked the Accountant-General of the Federation, AGF, Ahmed Idris, to explain how he acquired some multi-billion naira properties in Kano State.

The ASUU’s Bauchi zone coordinator, Prof. Lawan Abubakar, in a statement on Wednesday, sought the AGF’s explanation on how he bought Sokoto Hotel in Kano at the sum of N500million and ordered for its immediate demolition to build a multi-billion naira shopping mall.
The union confirmed that the project is ongoing.

The university lecturers also asked the AGF to account for the money he used in acquiring multi-billion naira Gezawa Commodity Market and Exchange.

The ASUU said: “We would want Gentlemen of the Press to assist us in the conduct of two Investigations.
“The first is to uncover who bought the version of the Sokoto Hotel in Kano with a swooping sum of N500m, cash down, and demolished it the next day for an on-going development of a multi-billion Naira Shopping Mall.

“How and where did he or she get money for such investment?”

“The second assignment is to assist uncover who is hiding to invest multi-billion Naira in the Gezawa Commodity Market and Exchange.
“How and where did he or she get money for such investment?”
On the ongoing strike, Mr Abubakar blamed the AGF and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, for impeding resolution of the industrial action.

According to the union, the duo has “continued to throw spanners in the wheel of progress of the concerted efforts, aimed at amicable resolution of its disagreement with federal government.”

He also alleged that the AGF insisted on Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, in order to gain N16,000 per enrollment of each of the academic staff of universities on the salary payment platform.

“While the Minister of Labour and Employment has continued to exhibit all manners of antics and insisting that government does not have the money to responsibly educate its citizens, the AGF has continued to greedily and selfishly count on the gains of N16,000 per enrollment of each academic staff he would have made.

“Thereby insisting that ASUU members be enrolled on the only payment platform he has now, Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS,” said the coordinator
