A case in point is what is now happening to Igbanke people.

Decades ago they were not assertive of their relationship with other Igboid groups. This allowed internal colonizers to join them to Edo state.
Today, they are crying and now want to be added to this proposed Anioma state and they now realise they have more in common with them than with Bini people. But it could well be too late for Igbanke people. Let that be a warning to all these Igbo-denying Igboids.
Time will come, when they will want out of any fake unions with internal colonizers, but it will already be too late.

The purpose of creating states is primarily to extend development and belonging to all parts of Nigeria, not for ethnic chauvinism.
Development aspect: Asaba has developed to a greater extent from being the capital of Oil rich Delta state. So is Agbor, and even many other towns in Anioma area from oil rich Delta state.
But the area between Imo and Anambra states for which the Orlu state is being proposed is the most marginalised and underdeveloped in the SE zone. Because other sections of Anambra and Imo States outside the area where the Orlu state is being proposed, have always had in mind that a new state will be created in the area, hence hardly any government development infrastructures were allowed in the area of the proposed state. For example, Anambra state university was initially established in Uli by a gov of Anambra state from Uli area. But the main university was later shifted to another place because of belief that Uli would one day not be part of Anambra state. Is there any federal government institution that induce modern develooment in Ihialla, Anambra State?
In Imo state, all the 4 federal government tertiary education institutions were literally forced to be in Owerri zone because of the same belief that one day, Orlu zone will not be part of Imo state.

The point is that no Anambra community wants to join any Orlu state.

An Ozubulu friend of mine didn't even know such a bill was being considered, and was totally against being seen as a non-Anambrarian. The vast majority of the Anambra people being earmarked for Orlu state have not really being consulted, and will not like the fact that they are no longer in the same state as other Anambrarians whom they feel more affinity towards, and resonate with the hardcore Igbo nature of the ordinary Anambrarian.

Anambra people are too Igbotic in their mindset that they will not appreciate being merged with Igbos they consider lightweight, who can easily be tricked by landgrabbing neighbouring tribes like Edo and Ijaw, into believing they are not Igbos. Count Anambra people out from such a union.

People like Sanwolu and Bayo Onanuga and MC Oluomo who have kept real Lagosians from ruling their state, and at the same time ruining the business-friendly nature of Lagos with the ethnic motivated property demolitions and the departure of international companies due to bad policies of he Tinubu administration, have all helped in making Lagosians not wanting to team up with other Yorubas.

Bayo and FFK will go on tirades against other ethnic groups who reside in Lagos state, not knowing that they are destroying the Yoruba brand by their actions. They think they are ruining Igbos, but that is not the case. The enlightened Yorubas who are mainly Lagosians see something dangerous with associating with people with Bayo and FFK's mindset. If the leadership of the Yoruba race had been in the hands of people like Dele Farotimi or Pa Ayo Adebanjo, I can guarantee you 100% that Lagosians would have nothing against being a part of any proposed western region. But Yorubas allowed Tinubu and his gang of nepotists and drug-dealers to take control of Yoruba affairs with their RONU mantra and incompetent leadership of Nigeria. This has caused Lagosians, who in the first place, gave Tinubu less than 1/4 of their votes, to even be more caustic towards any plan to rope them into a Yoruba region, that will obviously be led by Tinubu or his acolytes.

Just like Igbos are not worrying about having Calabar or Uyo in their geopolitical zone.
