You were unable to refute the substance of what the OP stated. Instead true to form as one of the Agbadóos, you resorted to a personal attack, telling him he couldn’t sleep.

But tell me, how exactly is he, or any Nigerian for that matter including yourself supposed to sleep peacefully while Tinubu, the so-called president, continues to impose unbearable hardship and relentless strife on the populace?

Tinubu’s presidency, marked by cruel and authoritarian policies disguised as economic reforms, has brought nothing but widespread suffering, anguish, and disillusionment. His actions are not just worthy of discussion, they demand it.
PoliticsADC Is Youth Party; Will Allocate 50% Of Appointments To Young Nigerians, Women by Ofunaofu(op): 6:44am On Aug 24, 2025
Mr Aregbesola called ADC the party of the youth and one committed to rescuing Nigeria.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it will prioritise youth and women by allocating 50 per cent of elective and appointive positions to them.

Rauf Aregbesola, the party’s national secretary, stated this in Lagos during the affirmation of the PDP, Labour Party, and other members who defected to ADC.

Delivering a speech titled “When Good People Unite, Nigerians Win”, Mr Aregbesola, a former Osun governor and Minister of Interior, called ADC the party of the youth and one committed to rescuing Nigeria.

He said, “ADC constitution boldly affirms the place of youth and women in leadership. This is not tokenism but a recognition that Nigeria’s future lies in giving voice, space, and power to those who have long been underrepresented.

“The ADC’s constitution allocates 35 per cent representation each for women and youth. Since these demographics overlap, their combined representation will be no less than 50 per cent. This structure makes the ADC unquestionably the party of the youth,” Mr Aregbesola said.

According to him, ADC is not controlled by one person but a collective of patriotic citizens seeking to rebuild the nation.

He decried the hardship and uncertainty in the country, necessitating the ADC’s timely intervention, urging members to act decisively to save the country.

“No government could survive without prioritising citizens’ welfare,” he said, adding that leadership must meet the basic needs of the people.

“This is not tokenism, but recognition that Nigeria’s future lies with giving voice, space, and power to the underrepresented,” he said.

Mr Aregbesola warned that any form of government that fails to serve the people would lose legitimacy and collapse with time.

The former governor told the new members that ADC’s mission is to build a nation that future generations would be proud to inherit.

He urged members to focus on expanding the party’s base and avoid wasting time engaging political opponents.

“Let’s sell our ideas to the people and ignore the distractions of dying political structures,” he said.

He noted that both PDP and APC have lost vision and been reduced to ordinary power-seeking political platforms.

“We must not repeat the mistakes of APC and PDP. Let us build a people-oriented party from scratch,” he said.

Earlier, Abimbola Ogunkelu, a PDP BoT member, led the group of defectors and said the movement signalled a new era of progressive politics.

Mr Ogunkelu said the coalition aimed to mobilise grassroots participation and provide trustworthy leadership that Nigerians can believe in.

Also speaking, Segun Osho, who led some Labour Party members, said their movement was necessary to rescue Nigeria.

ADC chieftain Kolawole Ogunwale called on members to work with unity and commitment for the party’s success.

“Don’t just support ADC by mouth. Be committed in action and purpose,” Mr Ogunwale said.

The defectors included former Lagos PDP chairmen, Muritala Ashorobi and Tunji Shelle. Others were PDP vice chairman (Lagos Central), Tai Benedict; Niyi Adams; and ex-youth leader, among other party stalwarts.

ADC Lagos chairman, George Ashiru, presented the party’s flag, logo, and statement of purpose to Mr Ogunkelu

Why do you think he went there if not because it is about his political ambition. When last did you see him moving from church to church. When election is around the corner Obi go turn Roman Catholic Pastor.
So showing empathy is now a campaign strategy? Interesting. The same people who praise politicians for attending owambe every weekend are upset because Peter Obi attended a condolence visit? Whether he's in a church, a mosque, or with a grieving family, Obi shows up where it matters. Some only remember the people during elections, Obi remembers them in their pain. That's the difference.

Does Obi really think he can contest the presidential election in 2027 and defeat President Tinubu or he's just doing all of these for 2039?
Imagine being triggered by a condolence visit. When did showing empathy become a crime? If leadership means anything, it's about standing with people in their moments of pain not just during campaign rallies or when seeking votes. While some are playing politics with grief, others are showing humanity. Obi doesn’t need to wait till 2027 or 2039 to act presidential he’s already doing it

The usual 'experts' are confirming it and we’re not supposed to ask which experts or what exactly they’re confirming. If this is what 'the right direction' looks like record inflation, naira devaluation, rampant insecurity, and food prices tripling then ma be you are being mischievous

IMF debt cleared? Funny how you're celebrating borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. Meanwhile, the naira has wobbled from ₦460 to over ₦1,500 per dollar in under two years. FX increased? Tell that to the businesses shutting down due to forex instability.

You mentioned NELFUND, of course some students can now get loans they'll repay with jobs that don't exist.

You say the opposition has no achievements, but somehow forget Tinubu has been part of the same political elite for decades. What were his achievements, apart from the usual lies, falsehoods, and propaganda? If you're looking for recycled faces, look no further than the Renewed Hopelessness team.

By 2027, Nigerians won’t need to be convinced. They'll simply look at the price of fuel before and after Tinubu became president, food prices then and now, the naira’s value before and currently, the exchange rate before and now, transportation costs, cost of living and their overall living standard.

And they’ll agree they were far better off before Tinubu grabbed, snatched, and ran away with power. Nigeria can't afford another disastrous four years.

EducationPay Our Liabilities Before Offering Loans – ASUP Tells FG by Ofunaofu(op): 2:41am On Aug 23, 2025
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has dismissed the Federal Government’s proposed loan scheme for its members as a mere distraction, insisting that all outstanding financial entitlements must first be settled.

ASUP National President, Shammah Kpanja, made this known on Friday during a press conference organised by ASUP Zone B at its secretariat in the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi.

He expressed the union’s frustration with the government’s failure to address lingering issues despite several meetings with relevant agencies.

It will be recalled that ASUP, following an emergencies National Executive Council meeting on August 14 in Abuja, issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to settle 12 months of salary arrears and other unresolved demands or face a nationwide strike.

Kpanja said the government’s recent response—a letter suggesting members should wait for the implementation of the 2025 budget before any salary arrears would be paid—was unacceptable and contradictory.

“Just two days before our last NEC meeting, the ministry sent a scanty letter claiming all our issues were being considered. But on the matter of our 25/35 percent salary arrears, they said we should wait until the 2025 budget is implemented,” he said.

“We find this inappropriate. Even as a union, we keep track of national developments. It is only the capital component of the 2025 budget that is yet to be implemented. The National Assembly has already extended that aspect to December 2025, but it doesn’t affect personnel costs.”

He questioned the government’s priorities, noting, “If the 2025 budget hasn’t been implemented, where is the funding for loans coming from? You haven’t paid me what you owe, but you’re promising loans. That’s a contradiction.

“Our position as a union is clear: settle all outstanding liabilities before offering us loans—especially when we weren’t even consulted on the scheme,” Kpanja added.

Despite the union’s dissatisfaction, the ASUP president confirmed that the Ministry of Education has extended an invitation for dialogue, expressing cautious optimism about the outcome. However, he noted that past resolutions were yet to be honoured by the government.

Earlier, the Zonal Coordinator of ASUP Zone B, Lumpye Innocent Simji, criticised the prolonged delay in granting polytechnics a dual mandate that would eliminate long-standing discrimination against holders of Higher National Diploma, HNDs.

Simji also decried what he described as the Federal Ministry of Education’s lack of commitment to genuine dialogue and execution of previously agreed resolutions.

He warned that the union would not hesitate to withdraw services across public polytechnics and monotechnics nationwide if the government fails to act within the 21-day ultimatum.

“Our NEC has resolved that if nothing is done about this long list of unresolved issues, we will be left with no option but to declare a trade dispute and commence a nationwide industrial action,” he said

Is this not the same Yahaya Bello whom the Chairman of the EFCC vowed to ensure would be prosecuted, or else tender his resignation? Yet, Yahaya Bello is still walking free, marrying new wives and issuing directives to the Kogi State House of Assembly members as though he were still the sitting governor.

It appears that the over ₦80 billion fraud perpetrated against the people of Kogi State by Yayaha Bello is no longer regarded as a fraud

Regrettably, under the Tinubu administration, corruption appears to have become an instrument of state policy.

PoliticsWhat Empty Nigeria Booths In TICAD9 Mean - Peter Obi by Ofunaofu(op): 6:38am On Aug 21, 2025
The empty Nigerian booths in the ongoing Ninth Tokyo International Conference, TICAD9, in Japan do not just define the empty promises of this government for the past two years, they also reflect the consistent emptiness Nigerians have been fed at home by this government. Even the defence being put forward by the government, that they only wanted to have more “strategic engagements” is the same tired excuse we have heard over and over again.

This government has mastered the art of throwing around wrong statistics and misleading statements, not to provide real solutions, but to camouflage the emptiness of its performance and the suffering it has inflicted on Nigerians.

The empty booths at TICAD are not just about a diplomatic embarrassment, they are a clear symbol of the hollow promises and empty governance that our citizens have endured.

Just as those booths stood empty in Japan, so too have the lives of millions of Nigerians been left empty, with empty hope, empty relief and empty of the progress they were promised. The truth is unavoidable, the empty booths abroad are a physical reminder of the empty promises at home.
We must do better as a nation.

PoliticsRe: NBA To Tinubu: Release Osun LG Funds, You Have No Power To Withhold Allocations by Ofunaofu(op): 5:29am On Aug 21, 2025
lawani:
How do you address the issue of elections not being held in states with governors using sole administrators?. That is a coup against democracy and it is wrong to release local government allocations to a state that is not holding local government elections. There is a stale mate in Osun presently and it should be solved. An out of court settlement should be explored. It can be possible to hold a new election where all parties will participate
If your concern is truly about upholding democracy and constitutional order, then that principle must be applied consistently not selectively, based on political loyalty.

You're calling Osun State a 'coup against democracy' for lacking elected local government officials, yet turning a blind eye to Rivers State, which currently has no democratically elected local government chairmen, is under an unconstitutional state of emergency, and still receives federal allocations simply because it serves Tinubu’s political interests, not the interests of the people. Why the double standard?

Selective enforcement of the law is, in itself, a betrayal of democracy.

Moreover, the Osun LGA issue is already before the courts and it is the judiciary, not the presidency, that is constitutionally empowered to resolve such disputes. Withholding federal allocations which belong to the people, not the governor is an unconstitutional abuse of power and an overreach of executive authority. Infact, An executive rascality

If President Tinubu truly respects democracy, he must defend it consistently not only when it aligns with his personal or political agenda.
PoliticsNBA To Tinubu: Release Osun LG Funds, You Have No Power To Withhold Allocations by Ofunaofu(op): 4:01am On Aug 21, 2025
The Association stated that its ad-hoc committee on the Osun Local Government impasse had carefully reviewed relevant court judgments, statutes, and constitutional provisions and concluded that the withholding of the funds “will amount to a violation of the Constitution, a disregard for the Rule of Law and an affront on clear pronouncements of the Courts.”

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of “violating the Constitution” and “abusing the Rule of Law” by allegedly withholding statutory allocations meant for local governments in Osun State.

In a letter dated August 19, 2025, addressed to the Attorney General of the Federation, the NBA said there is “no legal justification for the non-release of the allocations”.

It demanded the “immediate release” of the funds.

The letter was signed by Afam Osigwe, the NBA President, and Mobolaji Ojibara, the General Secretary.

According to the NBA, “the payment of funds from the Federation Account to the local government council in Osun State has been withheld” since February 2025, despite constitutional provisions guaranteeing their financial autonomy under Section 162 of the 1999 Constitution.

The NBA further warned that “it cannot but constitute clear impunity were it to be true that funds meant for the LGAs are currently being seized or withheld,” adding that such action “sets a dangerous precedent, weakens public confidence in democratic institutions, and emboldens lawlessness at all levels.”

Citing the Supreme Court decision in A.G of Lagos State vs. A.G of Federation (2004), the NBA stressed that the “President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has no power to suspend, withhold or direct the suspension or withholding… the statutory allocations due and payable to the Local Government Councils.”

The Association also drew attention to conflicting judgments arising from the October 2022 Osun local government elections. While the Federal High Court nullified the election of All Progressives Congress (APC) council officials, subsequent appeals produced a legal impasse.

However, following fresh elections conducted in February 2025, “the only valid and legitimate officials who can legally occupy the elective offices in the LGAs in Osun State are those of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),” the NBA stated.

The letter criticised the Federal Government’s reported decision to freeze disbursements to Osun LGAs, noting that “the Constitution does not and could not have intended that the Federal Government or the President… has the power to direct the Minister of Finance not to release statutory allocations.”

The NBA emphasised that “whenever there is any disagreement or dispute between the Federation and any State with regard to the release of statutory allocations… the avenue provided by the Constitution… are the superior courts of record.”

Concluding, the NBA announced that it has directed its National Litigation Committee and the Section on Public Interest and Development Law “to urgently initiate engagement with the dramatis personae or relevant stakeholders” to ensure compliance with constitutional provisions and court rulings.

This development comes amid controversies over the non-release of state allocations.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu ignored appeals from Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for the release of withheld local government allocations, according to top government sources familiar with the matter.

In June, Governor Adeleke paid a visit to President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, where one of the key issues discussed was the suspension of local government funds to Osun.

However, sources disclosed that Tinubu reminded Adeleke that he had himself ordered the removal of local government chairmen, a decision the President suggested was tied to the withholding of the allocations.

A review of official records by SaharaReporters revealed that the outstanding funds amounted to ₦46.9 billion at the time of the report, as captured in a document released by the Office of the Accountant-General.

The breakdown shows that Osun was due to receive ₦11.9 billion in March, ₦11.2 billion in April, ₦11.7 billion in May, and ₦12.1 billion in June, but none of these disbursements have been made.

PoliticsTinubu In Japan For Serious Business, Not For Gimmicks, Photo Ops - Presidency by Ofunaofu(op): 3:26am On Aug 21, 2025
The Presidency on Wednesday strongly condemned what it described as the deliberate attempt by mischief-makers on social media to misrepresent Nigeria’s participation at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, Japan, through a misleading video of an empty booth labelled “NIGERIA.”

Let it be made clear: Nigeria did not attend TICAD9 to entertain idle critics or provide content for social media blackmailers.

“Our delegation, led by President Bola Tinubu, is in Japan for the serious business of securing investments, building strategic alliances, and advancing Nigeria’s economic transformation, not for gimmicks or photo opportunities at a trade expo,” the Presidency said in a statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The peddlers of this distortion, driven either by ignorance or malice, insult the intelligence of Nigerians by suggesting that the measure of our participation is an empty stall rather than the substantive negotiations being held at the highest levels of government and industry.

While the cynics are busy sharing videos, President Tinubu and his team are busy sitting across the table with global leaders, Toyota Corporation, CFAO, UN-Habitat, UNDP, and the International Finance Corporation to broker partnerships that will directly impact the lives of Nigerians.

In the power sector alone, Minister Adebayo Adelabu is advancing multi-billion-dollar Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) projects Lagos–Ogun Power Transmission System Improvement Project to stabilise the grid and boost industrial capacity; NAPTIN–JICA Vocational Training Partnership to upgrade human capital for the energy sector; Distributed Access Through Renewable Energy Scale-up Project, already backed by $190 million.

He is also negotiating with world-class manufacturers such as Toshiba and Hitachi, while the Bank of Industry, under Dr. Supo Olusi, is engaging JICA and multilateral financiers for expanded fund syndication to power Nigerian enterprises.

This is the real Nigeria story at TICAD9—serious engagements, real deals, and concrete results. It is shameful that some would rather reduce a global summit to a conversation about an unmanned booth.

The Presidency therefore warns that while social media cynics chase clout with half-truths, this administration remains focused on the hard work of nation-building and securing Nigeria’s place as a strong economic partner on the global stage.

.... not an indictment on Atiku's leadership and ability to hold his ranks

Mynd44:
Okowa's defection is an indictment on Atiku's leadership and abikity to hold his ranks. It someone who was your running-mate can defect less than 2 years then something is seriously wrong somewhere
Mynd44, With all due respect, attributing Okowa’s defection to a failure of Atiku’s leadership is both intellectually lazy and politically dishonest. Let’s not pretend we don’t understand how Nigerian politics works especially under this calamitous and morálly bankrupt Tinubu administration.

Okowa was arrested by the EFCC on November 4, 2024, in connection with the alleged diversion of over ₦1.3 trillion in oil derivation funds during his tenure as Delta State governor from 2015 to 2023. He was also linked to an additional ₦40 billion LNG fund scandal. Fast forward a few months: Okowa defects to the APC, and surprise the once-vigorous corruption probe goes silent and trashed in a can

So let’s call this what it is: not a political indictment of Atiku, but a classic case of corruption laundering via defection a phenomenon that has become a trademark of the Tinubu APC-led government. Under Tinubu’s watch, the EFCC has become a revolving door for selective justice, where alleged looters find immunity through party loyalty.

If anything, Okowa’s defection is a damning reflection on theTinubu and APC’s credibility, not Atiku’s. After all, when a man facing fraud allegations worth trillions suddenly finds shelter in your party, it's not strength, it’s moral bankruptcy.
