President Bola Tinubu has dismissed allegations that he is behind defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress, insisting he neither coerced nor pressured anyone to abandon their political platforms.https://punchng.com/video-i-didnt-kill-any-opposition-tinubu/

Richtaiwo:Richtaiwo, a public denial does not automatically amount to exoneration, especially when there is a prior public warning telling someone not to set foot in the state. When threats precede events, it is only natural for people to examine the direction from which the threats came. |
Globad:The proverb isn’t evidence; it’s commentary. But threats followed by violence are facts people are right to scrutinize. |
There is no faction within the ADC. This latest spin appears to be a deliberate attempt to deflect attention from the assassination attempt on Peter Obi and other ADC leaders in Edo State, and to redirect it by blaming an imaginary internal crisis within the party. The current APC-led Edo State government had previously warned Obi not to set foot in Edo State. Then yesterday, there was an assassination attempt on him and other ADC leaders. As the proverb says, “The witch cried last night, and the baby died in the morning.” We do not go to the soothsayer to ask what killed the child. These developments raise serious concerns about the direction of our democracy and the safety of opposition figures. |

SocialFinance:Of course, it was staged, orchestrated, and executed by the current Edo State government, which had threatened Obi not to set foot in Edo State. |
A proverb says, "The witch cried last night, and the baby died in the morning.” we do not go to the soothsayer to ask what killed the child. We all remember the threat from the Governor of Edo State. Tinubu and the APC have now led us back to the era of political assassination. |

seunmsg:At this point, your obsession with Peter Obi has become both dangerous and embarrassing. |
INEC is clearly struggling, and failing woefully to extricate itself from the “grab it, snatch it, and run with it” spectacle it enabled during the last FCT election. It’s now obvious that Amupitans’ INEC has become a reactionary electoral umpire, arguably the worst in this country’s history. In fact, Amupitans’ INEC risks setting Nigeria’s democracy on fire |
The immediate past IGP, Egbetokun, was due for retirement on September 4, 2024, but Tinubu unilaterally extended his tenure in office. So Tunde Disu being due for retirement next year is a non-issue under the Tinubu regime. |
I hope the now former IGP is going straight to the EFCC office to vomit all the eCMR and tinted permit money he has embezzled |
Burob:Did you win the election? |
Burob:Burob, at this point, comedy seems like your most promising career path |
Richtaiwo:If the government paid N10 billion and released two high-value Boko Haram commanders, that isn’t merely an act of compassion; it is a security decision with long-term implications. Governments are judged not only by immediate outcomes, but by the precedents they establish. You cannot simultaneously argue that the state must never negotiate with terrorists and then frame negotiation as heroic when politically convenient. That is not moral clarity; it is partisan gymnastics No one is suggesting abductees should be sacrificed for political optics. The issue is whether incentivizing terrorism through ransom payments and high valued captured Boko Haram commanders swaps strengthens or weakens national security over time. That is a legitimate policy question in any serious democracy. Richtaiwo, It is also telling that in a discussion about the actions of a sitting president, your reflex is to pivot to Peter Obi. That suggests he occupies more cognitive space in your medulla oblongata than you might be comfortable admitting. If the administration’s decisions are defensible, defend them on their own merits; they should not require a comparison figure to survive scrutiny. As for the claim that the families of those rescued will remember Jagaban, history is rarely that sentimental. What families ultimately remember is whether the insecurity that endangered them in the first place was decisively reduced. Governments are remembered less for the ransoms they pay and more for the crises they prevent. |
No one is surprised, not even Akpakomiza2. Deep down, even the APC knows it handed Edo State the worst governor in its history. |
I would advise these retirees and pensioners that if they have any hope of receiving their benefits under this Tinubu-led APC regime, they should quickly form a “CBN Retirees and Pensioners Renewed Hope for 2027 Movement.” That is the despicable level to which Tinubu has sunk this country. Just the other day, an APC lawmaker was telling students that the only way to secure scholarships or jobs after graduation under the Tinubu-led APC government is to become APC members. |
Former Vice President of Nigeria and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has raised alarm over the low voter turnout recorded in Saturday’s FCT Area Council elections. Reacting to the exercise, Atiku described the turnout—averaging below 20 per cent, with the Abuja Municipal Area Council recording 7.8 per cent—as a damning verdict on the state of Nigeria’s democracy under the current administration. According to him, such poor civic participation in the nation’s capital is not accidental but the result of “a political environment poisoned by intolerance, intimidation, and the systematic weakening of opposition voices.” The Waziri Adamawa accused the Bola Tinubu-led government of shrinking the democratic space, harassing dissenters, and fostering a climate where alternative political views are treated as threats. “When citizens lose faith that their votes matter, democracy begins to die,” he said. “This is not mere voter apathy. Democracy in Nigeria is being suffocated—slowly and dangerously.” Atiku warned that continued erosion of participatory governance could cause lasting damage to the country’s democratic foundations and called on opposition parties to unite. “This is no longer about party lines; it is about preserving the Republic. The time to stand together to rescue and rebuild Nigeria is now,” he added https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/02/democracy-under-siege-tinubus-chokehold-suffocating-nigeria-atiku/ |
Kalashnikov49:madridguy is more interested in teaching others political lessons, while the dilapidated mandate upon which he stands teaches him and delivers to him harsh, brutal economic lessons, leaving him a pauper, crying and gnashing his teeth. ![]() |
obonujoker:Of course, it’s part of the “Renewed Hope” agenda. Continuous price hikes in goods, services, and transport is the most consistent achievement under the Tinubu-led APC regime. Nigerians have been witnessing it firsthand since the government came into office. |
adioolayi:Before you come here accusing anyone of “pushing a narrative,” take a short trip to the official Irev portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission. Check the results yourself: under the Kwali LGA Chairman Election, Yangoji Ward. The figures are sitting there in black and white. Transparency was exactly what the amendment sought, something the Tinubu-led APC regime loudly opposed. And when 213 accredited voters turn into 1,212 votes for the APC , people don’t need Photoshop to question it, they just need elementary school mathematics. If defending the indefensible is the strategy, at least make the numbers believable.

SmartPolician:Nairaland has been snatched, grabbed, and run off with. Some of us are just here to catch cruise. |
The principal aim of the amendment, mandatory transmission of election results, was loudly rejected by the Tinubu-led APC, perhaps because transparency is inconvenient when your strategy is “snatch it, grab it, and run with it" as can be seen below Total no. Of accredited voters: 213 Total no. Of ballots issued: 213 Total no. Of unused ballots: 132 Spoilt ballots: Nil Rejected ballots: 2 Total votes cast: 213 Total VALID VOTES: 211 APC scored 1,212 votes in same unit.

Were the migrated voters properly notified of their reassignment to new polling units, or was the discovery reserved as an election-day surprise? INEC is clearly and fully immersed in the incompetence, confusion and the grab it, snatch it and run with it like criminals, drug báróns that define the Tinubu era. Democracy is gasping under this regime, and history may well reserve it a place in infamy. |
With this wonderful news, good governance from Abia is now spilling into Rivers, a state long battered by manufactured crises orchestrated by a Notorious drûñkàrd with enormous backing from a notorious forger and identity thiéf, Rivers is finally catching its breath For the people of Etche, this could well be the beginning of a new lease on life. |
Christistruth00:You know exactly what I’m talking about, but you’ve chosen to play the ostrich, head buried deep, pretending not to see the contradiction |
WorldRichest:Oluwole, make you rest too Make you no collapse as you dey support and stand on your mandate |
When I look at Festus Keyamo, I can’t help but wonder what the late sage Gani Fawehinmi would think today. A man who rose to prominence as a human rights activist now seems far removed from the ideals he once championed. Of course Nigerians are not fools. They can see the contradiction of a man who once legally challenged Bola Tinubu in court for forgery, describing him as a notorious forger and identity thiéf, yet now serves under him and defends him without hesitation. Truly, principles apparently have expiry dates. Some just last until an appointment letter arrives. |
Those are APC data boys on rampage doing what they know how to do best, creating confusion and then turn around to accuse imaginary critics |
Makavelli001:It’s quite unfortunate that those who once advocated for electronic voting in 2015 are today against the electronic transmission of election results, after grabbing it, snatching it, and running away with it like criminals and drûg báróns.

The courts will uphold the forged results declared by INEC because the National Assembly and the Senate passed an electoral law stating that any result written on Form EC8A must be accepted without question or disqualification.
