Remind me the year credible election was conducted in Nigeria. You guys just throw words because it suits your narration.

What do you call the 99.9% win Obi got in SE? Is that the type of credible election you want to happen in 2027?
What about Obasanjo receiving 99.9% of the votes in the South East in 1999 and 2003; Yar’Adua’s 99.9% South East votes in 2007; and Goodluck Jonathan’s 99.9% South East votes in 2011 and 2015?

In your jaundiced attempt to spew ethnic bigotry devoid of logic, the South East only started giving 99.9% votes to presidential candidates in 2023 because of Peter Obi.

I have consistently maintained that the only way Tinubu can win is through rigging, grabbing it, snatching it and running away with the mandate.

In a free, fair, and credible election, devoid of electoral banditry, thuggery, agberoism, and voter intimidation, Tinubu would not secure up to 500,000 votes nationwide.

This is the most embarrassing and disgraceful piece I’ve ever read in a long time. Pat Utomi does not deserve this from an emergency Obi lover like Dele Momodu.

It is so unfortunate that characters like Dele Momodu are so desperate for pose that they are willing to throw even their own children under the bus to achieve their aim. What exactly will an Atiku presidency benefits anybody in the south? How exactly will at Atiku presidency combat Fulani and Islamic extremism that is the cause of our insecurity challenges? How exactly do we tell the parent of Deborah in Edo state, the home state of Dele Momodu that the same Atiku who supported those that killed their daughter is now the best option for the south? How?

Anyway, we still have so many reasonable people in this country. We shall stand our ground against these power mongers in 2027. We shall never allow them to derail the developmental trajectory that we are currently experiencing.
I sometimes cringe and marvel at your hypocrisy.

You call Atiku extremely corrupt, incompetent but support Tinubu, a notorious drug bárón, certificate forger, identity thief, and buccaneering power grabber engaging in crîmînál state capture who has held Lagos hostage for 20+ years, enriching himself and empowering street thugs. PoliticsEFCC Dismisses Bala Mohammed’s Persecution Claims As Wild by Ofunaofu(op): 5:34pm On Jan 02
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has dismissed allegations by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, that the agency is being used by political opponents to persecute him and officials of his administration.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Friday, the anti-graft agency described the governor’s claims as “wild” and “far-fetched,” insisting that it operates independently and without political influence.

The EFCC was responding to comments credited to Mohammed, in which he alleged that the commission was being deployed by political interests, particularly the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to target him and his aides.

The EFCC is an independent agency created to fight economic and financial crimes.

“The commission is non- partisan and discharges its mandate without affection or ill will.

“The attempt to portray it as a pliable agency that panders to the demands of certain political interests is therefore mischievous and condemnable,” the statement read.

The commission said it was “derogatory” for the governor to link its activities in Bauchi State to the influence of any political office holder.

The statement added, “It is derogatory for Mohammed to ascribe the commission’s activities in Bauchi State to the influence of Mr. Wike.

“It is important to state that no political office holder is in a position to influence the investigative activities of the commission.

“If Bala Mohammed wants to be honest, he would have revealed to Nigerians that he was standing trial for money laundering at the time he won election as governor of Bauchi State.

“Only the constitutional immunity from prosecution, which his current office attracts, has put that case in abeyance. Who also influenced the commission to investigate him in 2016 and charge him to court?”

On the ongoing cases involving some Bauchi State Government officials, the EFCC said the facts had already been placed before the court, adding that members of the public could access the charge sheets to determine whether the matter was politically motivated or the result of investigations.

The commission also dismissed claims that it was “crying wolf” by linking the matter to terrorism financing, saying it was enforcing existing laws and would be failing in its duty if it acted otherwise.

“It is the height of hypocrisy for opposition politicians to be quick to scream persecution each time an opposition figure is called to account but are mute when a member of the ruling party faces the same ordeal.

“Recently, the xommission arraigned a ranking member of the ruling party in court for alleged corruption, and not a whimper of persecution was heard from any of the political divide,” the statement added.

The anti-graft agency urged the governor to focus on governance and allow it to carry out its mandate of sanitising the nation’s financial system.

Mohammed had earlier accused the EFCC of political persecution after the commission initiated legal action against some officials of his administration, claims he said were aimed at forcing him to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress

Politics'This barking Dog Made You Governor when nobody knew you' – Wike Replies Fubara by Ofunaofu(op): 4:52pm On Jan 02
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Nyesom Wike has fired back at his estranged political son, Siminalayi Fubara over his dog barking comment.

DAILY POST recalls that Governor Fubara, at the New Year banquet held on Thursday said, “if you have a dog in your house and it knows you, does it need to bark?”

The Governor was apparently reacting to the renewed hostility between him and the Minister.

But reacting, while addressing the people of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (ONELGA) on Friday, said the barking dog made Fubara governor.

He said, “This dog that’s barking now barked, even when Rivers people didn’t know who the person was and the dog that barked made the person to be governor when others ran away and he’s not afraid that the same dog now is barking. I wish him goodluck.

“We have decided to for Asiwaju Tinubu. There’s no discussion about that, but there’s one we must take a decision. We won’t make the mistake we made last time. We would correct the mistake.

“I heard him say those who worked with Atiku are back. They couldn’t give Atiku 10%. So, what is the political advantage. I won’t call their names, but you all know them.

He won African Central Bank of the Year last year.

Turkey was in the same situation as Nigeria, even before Nigeria. Since then, the Turkish lira and their economy has still not really Stabilised as Nigeria has. And in that period Turkey has had about 5 or 6 central bank Governors, as their President keeps sacking and replacing them, including Professors of economics, because there was no improvement.

Argentina was also in a similar situation alongside Nigeria and Turkey. Only 2 months ago, the Argentinian peso was on the verge of another collapse until Mr Trump bailed the country out with $20 billion.

So, like Turkey, Argentina has not recovered.

When countries get themselves into the type of problems Nigeria faced in 2023, it can take up to 10 years to stabilise. It is not easy. Turkey is almost in year 6, still no tangible recovery.

Yet, Mr Cardoso turned things around and stabilised Nigeria's economy in less than 2 years.

Other African countries have been coming to study the Nigerian 'miracle'.

But as usual, many Nigerians only see and want failure.

Stop parading your ignorance. It is not a false claim that Wike is a member of the PDP. That fact has never changed. There were different court orders barring that Amala convention. Wike remains a member of the PDP. However, you are free to delude yourself.
You conveniently skipped the Oyo State High Court order that explicitly directed the PDP convention to go ahead because it doesn’t serve your jaundiced narrative. That convention held, and at that convention, the highest decision-making organ of the PDP, Wike was expelled.

You can cry about other court orders all you want, but no court has jurisdiction to impose membership on a political party or override its internal disciplinary decisions. Nigerian courts have been clear on this repeatedly: parties control their own affairs. Courts recognize outcomes; they don’t manufacture members.
So no, Wike is currently not a member of PDP. What he runs now is a Tinubu-aligned caretaker circus parading as PDP. If acknowledging that reality hurts you so much, that’s your problem, but don’t call facts ignorance just because they disrupt your coping mechanism.

Wike was expelled. That’s a fact. What he belongs to now is Wike & Co Caretaker Committee Ltd, a private political drama troupe loyal to Tinubu and parading as the PDP.

As for INEC and Ekiti & Osun, that issue has absolutely nothing to do with Wike’s membership status. Internal party crises and court recognized structures determine candidates, not your desperate attempt to drag Tinubu into every discussion like a comfort blanket.

Listen, the real problem isn’t people like me deceiving ourselves; it’s people like you confidently missing the point, projecting Tinubu maladministration induced frustrations, and turning every conversation into a tired we vs them brickbat session.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has urged his supporters to remain calm amid the face-off between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at the New Year banquet held on Thursday at the government house in Port Harcourt, the governor said they are not making noise because they understand the situation.

According to him, those who are “barking” are doing so because they don’t understand.

He assured his supporters that everything is in place to ensure the smooth running of his administration and his re-election bid.

He said, “Don’t be disturbed by what is happening. Caesar in one of his quotes said, the only reason the dog barks is when it doesn’t understand.

“If you have a dog in your house and it knows you, does it need to bark? So when the dog starts backing maybe it is seeing something it doesn’t understand.

“We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going and we have set all the things that are needed to make the journey smooth”.

PoliticsTinubu Should Act As Nigerians’ Servant Not Ruler: PDP by Ofunaofu(op): 7:52am On Jan 02
“This new year must not be another chapter of broken promises, but a turning point marked by decisive and people-centred governance,” stated PDP.

The Peoples Democratic Party has urged President Bola Tinubu’s government to prioritise security and citizens’ welfare in 2026, stressing the need for people-centred governance.

The call was made in the party’s New Year message on Thursday, signed by its spokesman, Ini Ememobong.

The statement conveyed PDP’s goodwill and solidarity with Nigerians amid persistent insecurity and economic hardship confronting the nation.

It advised the Tinubu government to recommit to its constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property across the country.

“This new year must not be another chapter of broken promises, but a turning point marked by decisive and people-centred governance.

“The interests of Nigerians, not partisan considerations or political survival, must guide every action of government. Those entrusted with power are not rulers, but servants of the people, whose mandate must be exercised with humility and accountability,” help said.

The opposition party urged the judiciary, electoral body, security agencies, and democratic institutions to resist pressure, inducement, and fear in carrying out their duties.

It warned that democracy could not endure where “arbitrariness replaces justice and impunity thrives unchecked.”

The statement reaffirmed PDP’s solidarity with Nigerians in the struggle for an egalitarian society founded on fairness, equity, and accountable governance.

“We will continue to speak truth to power and stand with the people until governance reflects their will, welfare, and aspirations. Happy New Year to Nigerians,” said PDP.

‘Fubara Deceived Us, Boasted Tinubu Would Force Wike To Support His Reelection’, Says Factional Rivers PDP Chair

A factional Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Dr. Nname Ewor, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of deceiving party members and abandoning the PDP midway through the state’s prolonged political crisis.

Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Dr. Ewor alleged that Governor Fubara misled party members into believing he could wrest political control of the state from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, but instead defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in December 2025.

While this disagreement was on, a lot of us were deceived into believing so many things that were not true,” Ewor said. “In other words, the governor deceived us. Rather than give us the true picture of things, we were led with propaganda and lies, making us believe that the governor would wrestle political control from Wike.”

The PDP chieftain also accused the governor of boasting that President Bola Tinubu would compel both Wike and members of the State House of Assembly to support his administration and eventual reelection bid in 2027.

Rather than follow the path of peace to ensure smooth running of government, the Governor has been boasting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not only force the State House of Assembly members to pass the budget, he will also force Wike to work for his reelection,” he stated.

Dr. Ewor demanded that the governor make public the full details of the peace agreement reportedly brokered by President Tinubu before the lifting of the State of Emergency in Rivers State earlier in 2025.

“The mandate he is holding was given to him by Rivers people, and all his actions and inactions affect those whose mandate he is holding,” he said. “It is incumbent on him at this material time to fully disclose to Rivers people all the agreements he entered into in a peace deal brokered by the President before the emergency rule was lifted.”

He recalled that the political crisis between the governor and the State House of Assembly escalated into the bombing of the Assembly complex, which eventually led to the President’s intervention and declaration of a State of Emergency in March 2025.

“During the period of the emergency rule, another round of peace pact was brokered by the President,” Ewor explained. “Unlike the previous one with an eight-point agenda, the current peace pact was not documented, and Rivers people were not in the know.”

Ewor also recounted events surrounding the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025, during which the Rivers State Executive Committee was dissolved.

He faulted Governor Fubara for allegedly directing delegates to attend the convention while failing to show up himself.

“To me, asking us to go to Ibadan when he knew he wouldn’t be attending the convention amounts to double standards, which is not an attribute of an honourable man,” he said. “Could it be that it was when he saw that PDP had become a no-go area that he quickly defected to APC? We need explanations.”

Following the Ibadan Convention, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) constituted a new Caretaker Committee for the state, with Ewor as chairman. The committee, he said, comprised of respected party figures, including Prince Uche Secondus, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, Abiye Sekibo, Celestine Omehia, Senator Lee Maeba, and others.

“The caretaker committee is subsisting, although the outcome of the Ibadan Convention is subject to litigation,” he noted.

Ewor further commented on Minister Nyesom Wike’s recent thank-you visit to the 23 Local Government Areas of the state, where Wike reportedly accused Governor Fubara of violating the terms of the presidential peace deal.

According to him, Wike alleged that Fubara had agreed to drop several aides and reinstate certain officials but failed to do so.

“The FCT Minister said that before the emergency rule in Rivers State was lifted, the governor agreed not to run for a second term, to reinstate Ohna Sergeant Awuse as Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council, drop Tammy Danagogo as Secretary to the State Government, and Edison Ehie as Chief of Staff,” Ewor recounted. “That the governor has refused to keep all the terms of the agreement.”

Ewor insisted that the people of Rivers State deserved to know the full details of all agreements reached in the interest of transparency and accountability.

“These issues bother on our corporate interest, welfare, and peaceful governance of the State,” he said. “As a political party and citizens of Rivers State, we demand that the Governor fully disclose all the agreements reached before the President. This is the only way he can be accountable and responsible to the people of Rivers State.”

Finally, Ewor, who now aligned himself with the FCT Minister, expressed support for President Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027, affirming that the PDP faction under his leadership would back the President’s continued leadership.
