PoliticsRe: Where Is The President Of Nigeria? - Peter Obi Asks by Ofunaofu: 5:53pm On Jan 12
After Nigerians exposed the fake, Ai generated images of him supposedly having a private lunch with Paul Kagame, the same propagandists resurfaced today with another tale, this time claiming he had arrived in Abu Dhabi to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, allegedly at the official invitation of the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

This is the defining character of the Tinubu administration; chronic absence, studied aloofness, and total indifference to the suffering at home.

Imagine a president who spends nearly half of 2025 outside his own country, while his supporters engage in desperate, often ridiculous justifications. One is left to wonder where such devotion, so detached from reason and reality, comes from.

Nigeria has never been governed with such visible detachment and disdain.
Politics2027: No Free Elections In Climate Of Repression — Atiku by Ofunaofu(op): 2:17pm On Jan 12
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has warned that Nigeria risks sliding into the 2027 general election under a climate of repression, arguing that persistent crackdowns on dissent threaten the prospects of free and fair polls.

Atiku made the warning while reacting to the arrest of Abubakar Salim Musa, a young Nigerian whose detention was disclosed on Sunday evening by Amnesty International Nigeria via its official X handle, @AmnestyNigeria.

The concerns were contained in a statement by the former Vice President, on Monday, in which he accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of increasingly resorting to intimidation and arrests to silence criticism rather than addressing governance failures.

“This case is yet another stark example of the repressive nature of the President Bola Tinubu administration, which continues to bare its fangs against dissent, whether expressed through public protests or online criticism.

“Abubakar’s only ‘offense’ was his consistent and legitimate criticism of the deteriorating security situation in Northern Nigeria and across the country,” Atiku said.

Citing Amnesty International, the former Vice President said the charges against Musa lacked credibility and reflected a broader misuse of state institutions to suppress opposing views.

“Rather than address these serious concerns, the government’s response has been to arrest him and subject him to what Amnesty describes as ‘bogus charges and a sham trial.

“Numerous Nigerians, including journalists, schoolchildren, entertainers, and even National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have faced arrest, assault, and intimidation by the police and other security agencies simply for criticizing the President or members of his family.

“This dangerous trend undermines the very foundations of democracy, which rest on the protection of fundamental human rights and freedom of expression.

“Nigeria cannot claim to be part of the free world while its citizens are routinely arrested, assaulted, and intimidated for voicing criticism of their government.

“As the nation approaches a critical general election, neither the people nor the opposition can operate effectively in an atmosphere of fear and repression.

“I therefore call on the Tinubu administration to immediately and unconditionally release Abubakar Salim Musa and all others detained for exercising their constitutional rights.

“I urge the international community, particularly countries and organizations that champion democracy and human rights, to hold the Tinubu regime accountable and demand an end to these violations.

“I encourage fellow patriots, civil society groups, and all Nigerians of conscience to join this demand and stand firmly against any further erosion of our freedoms,” Atiku said.

PoliticsAtiku Coming To Right The Wrongs – ADC Chieftain, Festus Arunaye by Ofunaofu(op): 5:16pm On Jan 11
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prof. Festus Arunaye, has said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would right the wrongs if he had done any while he was the vice president.

Arunaye, a national member, ADC Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Committee (MRMRC), stated this during the inauguration of the 10-member Delta state committee on membership registration at the weekend in Asaba.

Addressing the party members in Delta, he sai,d following their inauguration, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party gave a clear directive that within 30 days, all states must submit interim reports on membership registration and financial accountability.

According to Arunaye, Atiku supports a free, fair and credible primary process and believes in collective victory, making the ADC a party to beat in the forthcoming general election.

“Also, I will tell you is that Atiku Abubakar wants to right the wrongs, if he had done any wrong while he was the Vice President. Atiku has not condemned any other aspirants coming together to form the coalition.

“Atiku believes that they will all go to the primary, which will be free, fair, and credible, and that any person who wins, the ADC will work for that person.

That is the goal and mission of our great party,” he said.

Arunaye explained that the inauguration of the committee was necessitated by the need to ensure transparency and accountability in the revalidation and registration process.

He noted that the hoarding of party membership cards, which was the case in the past, would not be experienced in the new ADC because the state, LGA and ward chairmen would not have any contact with the cards.

Arunaye urged members of the Committee to live above board and ensure that party cards were not hijacked by money bags, even as he disclosed that the cards had unique features that would make it difficult to be used outside the state.

The national committee member stated that membership cards would be distributed according to the demand of every state and warned against collecting money on behalf of the national body, insisting that cards must not be collected by proxy and all payments must be made to a dedicated deposit account.

“We know that ADC is a coalition of different faces of politicians, some of whom have been in government for long and have amassed substantial wealth to buy off the cards. This ADC doesn’t want that to happen.

“If you are in the village, you have an equal opportunity of having your card, and it is duly accounted for in Abuja through the database because as you pay into the account, you will have the information that you are a financial member of the party.

“Secondly, we are going to follow the physical registration with electronic registration. The App for that is being developed and would be ready in the next five days for all the states and the FCT. So, this is a new era of politicians that have come together to uplift our dear nation from pilfering and mismanagement and for the people at the grassroots to have a stake and equal opportunity with the money bags in the party,” Arunaye said.

Responding on behalf of the 10-man committee, the chairman, Dr Leo Ebinim, assured that they would work to strengthen the party’s membership base, enhance mobilisation efforts, oversee the revalidation and registration of members in the state and report back within the stipulated time

PoliticsRivers Assembly Alleges Plot To Obtain Court Orders Outside Port Harcourt by Ofunaofu(op): 3:44pm On Jan 11
Impeachment: Rivers Assembly alleges plot to obtain court orders outside Port Harcourt

The Rivers State House of Assembly has raised the alarm over alleged attempts by certain individuals to approach High Courts outside the Port Harcourt Judicial Division to obtain ex-parte orders intended to hinder the Assembly from discharging its constitutional functions.

The alarm raised by the Assembly follows the impeachment process it initiated against Governor Sim Fubara.

In a statement issued on Sunday, signed by Dr. Enemi Alabo George, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions, and Complaints, the Assembly indicated that it had received credible intelligence regarding the purported schemes.

The statement reads: “The Rivers State House of Assembly has received information of plots by certain persons to utilize some Rivers State High Courts especially outside the Port Harcourt Judicial division to issue exparte orders to illegally stop the Rivers State House of Assembly from performing her constitutional duties.

“These persons are tully aware of the provisions of section 272(5) of the constitution which states that ‘subject to the provisions of section 251 and other provisions of the constitution, the Federal High Court shall have jurisdiction to hear and determine the question as to whether the term of office of a member of the House of Assembly of a state, Governor or Deputy Governor has ceased or become vacant’.

“Also, section 188(10) states that ‘no proceedings or determination of the panel or of the House of Assembly or any matter relating to such proceedings or determination shall be entertained or questioned in any court’.

“These persons are also fully aware of judicial pronouncements on this matter especially recently at the Court of Appeal on a matter involving similar exparte order by a Rivers State High Court contrary to section 272(3) of the constitution.

“A word is enough for the wise.

Therefore, with the leave of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, I call on those concerned to exercise restraint and refrain from acts inimical to the Constitution and the rule of law.”

“All that is required is for the office holders who have already been duly served with the Notice of Allegations of Gross Misconduct to respond to them item by item rather than deploy subterranean moves to subvert the law or use proxies to malign members and the Rivers State House of Assembly in the media.

“We remain committed to the Constitution and the rule of law and may God bless our dear Rivers State and Nigeria.”

PoliticsNo One Will Be Leader Forever – Wike by Ofunaofu(op): 5:50pm On Jan 10
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said it is impossible for a leader to reign forever.

Wike, who spoke on Saturday in Port Harcourt, during a ‘thank-you visit’, said when the time comes, he will cease to be a leader.

We should also know that today, I’m a leader. Tomorrow will be your own turn too. No one will be a leader forever. It is not possible. God can never allow that.

“People are saying ‘Wike is a leader’ as of today. Yes, but it can never be forever, man come, man goes. Everybody has his own turn and everybody has his own time
,
” he said.

The minister also thanked Port Harcourt residents for supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

He urged them not to hesitate in supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid, stressing how Rivers State has benefited from the administration.

PoliticsRe: The Candidate To Defeat Tinubu Is Not Yet Born by Ofunaofu: 3:20pm On Jan 10
OP, the truth is your confidence in Tinubu winning in 2027 rests on intimidation, voter suppression, thuggery, agberos, and compromised institutions, not the people’s will. That’s not strength; it’s fear.

Any candidate who needs a rigged system to win isn’t popular; he’s terrified of a free and fair election.
PoliticsRe: Nyesom Wike’s Media Aide, Lere Olayinka, Mocks Gov Sim Fubara (video) by Ofunaofu: 3:01pm On Jan 10
Lere Olayinka the hero of APC data boys, agbadorians is a fraud and a thief

Lere Olayinka is an example of somebody the Yoruba people refer to as “a ri teni moo wi, a f’apaadi rabata bo ti e mole” which translates to
“somebody whose pastime is to accuse other people endlessly and covers his own misdeeds from the prying eyes of others.”

Some of the crimes committed by Lere Olayinka include theft, burglary,
libel, blackmail, examination misconduct, multiple and mind-boggling fraud, embezzlement of public funds, peddling falsehood, churning out hate speeches and sex scandals.

Lere Olayinka used to be a cobbler in Lagos where he stole his brother-in-law’s money and also confessed to sitting for an examination for his wife at the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, Ogba,Lagos.

Lere Olayinka’s claim to being a journalist is bogus and non-existent as he has no certificate or academic qualification to back such claim. He is an impersonator, period.

He was a dropout at the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos where he failed to complete a diploma course and any certificate he is parading to back such claim is fake as such can only be procured from Oluwole, a Lagos Island neighbourbood notorious for producing fake documents.

Lere Olayinka attempted to remedy his academic deficiency at the Ado Ekiti Campus of the International Institute of Journalism but he wanted to use his former position in government to railroad the authorities to issue him a certificate without attending classes,
writing tests and examination a request that was rightly turned down as such certificates are not sold in the open market!

Lere Olayinka fled from Lagos only to land in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, where he committed some crimes while working with Mr. Tunde Alade, the publisher of the now rested CLASS Newspaper and a lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Morakinyo Ogele including using his position to blackmail innocent people to extort money from them.

During this period, Lere Olayinka stole a printing plate that the production crew wanted to use to produce copies of CLASS Newspaper in a bid to corner all the proceeds from that production to the chagrin of Alade and Ogele.

It is also on record that Lere Olayinka during his Akure misadventure broke into the law chambers of Ogele located on Oyemekun Road, Akure and stole N250,000, a fact that is in public domain and verifiable by anyone who wishes to investigate same.

An impersonation case hanging on Lere Olayinka’s neck was his villainous bravado of posing as an elected lawmaker in the hallowed
chamber of Ekiti State House of Assembly in November 2014 during the screening and ratification of nominees for the positions of
commissioners and special advisers in the early days of the second tenure of Ayo Fayose.

Now, there are supposed pictures with some “aides,” while he is still missing and his whereabouts remain unknown.
PoliticsBudget 2026: Tinubu Govt To Spend Over N200 Million Taxpayers’ Money On Bloggers by Ofunaofu(op): 10:09pm On Jan 09
..... influencers, PR lobby, others

A recent report by PricewaterhouseCoopers on Nigeria’s economic outlook for 2026 projected that Nigeria’s poverty rate will reach 62 per cent.

President Bola Tinubu’s government, through the ministry of information, has allocated over N100 million of taxpayers’ money for the mobilisation of bloggers, influencers, other stakeholders, town hall meetings and media lobby.

A review of the 2026 budget shows that the ministry of information will spend N14 million on “weekly ministerial briefing” and “institutional interaction with stakeholders,” including “bloggers,” online publishers, the NUJ, NAWOJ, among others.

The ministry also allocated N21 million to facilitate ministerial media appearances, mobilisation of pro-government “influencers” and radio and TV analysts.

“Town hall meeting on topical issues” will gulp N30,800,000, while “quarterly interaction with foreign media, PR lobby” will cost N21 million.

“Developing social media platforms and networking with other platforms” will gulp N24,300,933, while production of jingles, documentaries and airtime will cost N28 million.

Nationwide opinion poll surveys will cost N12,600,000, hosting, management and upgrade of the ministry’s websites will gulp N37,450,356, while “production of yearly federal government wall calendars” will cost N42,141,036.

“Production of yearly federal government wall calendars” appears twice in the line items; additionally, “production of yearly federal government wall calendars” will cost N42,141,036, while “production of yearly federal government wall calendars” was earlier referenced under stakeholder engagement.

A rough summation of these line items in the ministry of information’s 2026 budget shows that over N200 million of taxpayers’ money will be expended.

Meanwhile, a recent report by PricewaterhouseCoopers on Nigeria’s economic outlook for 2026 projected that Nigeria’s poverty rate will reach 62 per cent, affecting 141 million people out of the over 200 million population.

“Poverty is projected to rise to 62 per cent (141 million people) by 2026, reflecting weak real income growth and lingering inflation effects,” the PwC report stated.
