ttryan237: Yes I did. Actually I'm a Cameroonian and this is my first time on this forum. For the past 3 months I have been trying to book a stud visa appointment through the online appointment booking portal of the German Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon to no avail. Even wrote several emails with no positive reply. So I tried Lagos with my docs and got the above response. However, it also stated in the same reply that I should contact my university to find out the possibility of getting an enrollment extension letter which I did and forwarded the letter to the same consular email address on Thursday. Haven't read from them since then. Just wondering if their first email to me is enough for the appointment. thanks No, it is not enough, they are trying to discourage you with it because they know it is almost impossible to meet up the winter semester at this time. What date is the extension and when will lecture commence? |

ttryan237: Hello house! Is this all about an appointment confirmation? There's no time mentioned: "Hereby we would like to inform you that due to the high demand on student visa appointments a next student appointment will be allocated for 30.10.2015 and visa processing time takes 6 weeks after interview. We need the consent from the Aliens Authority at your future place of residence in Germany in order to issue a student visa for you and can therefore not speed up the visa process deliberately." Did you apply for an appointment? |

oduzbaba2015: thank you in the rum as per the corrections on the scale 5 0r 4, why am so confused is that there is one of my guy here on the niraland who applyied for evaluation of transcript frm uni assist on scale 5, a university student, 5.00 the highest 1 the lowest, uni assist email him is cgpa was 3.08/5 , meaning after conversion it was 2.9, instead of 2.4sumtin, so the guy told them that his minimum grade is 1 wile 5 is the highest, uni assist said that dough 1 is the minimum but from source anabin say for a degree 2 is the minmum pass mark for a degree na dia allam com blow , instead of 1 dey use 2 knowing fully well on the transcript that 1 is lowest 5 d highest, see film o, what happens in this case, gurus i leav this to u ooo The orgas, here will answer that. Just want to get an info about the bolded. Can one apply to uniassist.ev for just evaluation of transcript? I am not aware that you can apply to uniassist.ev just to evaluate your transcript then u apply later. Please confirm this. |

Pauluche: Well I agreed I said 4.0 but technically speaking it is now 4.5 AND NOT 5.0.... This changes A WHOLE LOT OF THINGS when it comes to conversion to the German scale. Mind you Sire its not only applicable to AAU it is the new NUC standard which took effect from 2013/2014 upwards. That is where u are wrong, I just looked at that for another sch, it was not 1.5, they retained the 1.0 . U were right about AAU, What I understand is that schools can shift the system as they wish, I remember a year in my school 2.2 was 2.49 another year it was 2.5. Another year first class was awarded to a student with 3.45. The only important thing about the NUC News is the pass degree that is no longer awarded. Unassist.ev will do the calculation with what is written on your transcript as minimum cgpa |
Travel › Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by ogagaejay: 9:46pm On Sep 26, 2015 |
Pauluche: Thank you Sir! And that's what has changed in its entirety here. Both minimum and maximum pass marks and obtainable points in this case which happens to be 45% D - 100% A and 1.5 THIRD CLASS to 5.0 FIRST CLASS. So you see the importance of decimal place here. It can significantly affect one's grade when converted to the German scale. I've got nothing to lose on this just saying or for the sake of those who got admitted from 2013/2014 session till date who may be viewing this thread. Wake up brothers and sisters things have changed! That seems correct, 1.5 for AAU minimum grading unit for 2013/2014. Then you should agree, that there is no one system and what is written in your transcript is what is applicable not the 4.0 as you earlier earlier said. |

Pauluche: Bros Na AAU u con take judge mata? I think u have to contact someone der wen the new session commences cuz ur making an assumption. Mind u I am also an Alumnus of AAU and Still have STRONG ties with the school till date. U are NOT right in the sense that GRADE E has been ELIMINATED Bros. 40% is no longer the pass mark 45% is the pass make now and that's termed a D. @ Bros Eke the forgoing sums up my point pls. So long as the pass mark per course has been changed, everything else changes. I rest my case Sir I can't see where I made reference to the bonded in my quote. Meanwhile, I was trying to explain what NUC Meant by the news. Anyhow, I want you to know 1.0 is still the minimum grading in a 5.0 scale. Also, Pass is the E grade. Mind you this took effect from 2013/2014 session, so I don't need to contact anyone Ich sage, meine letzte Abschied zu diesem Thema |

Pauluche: Well you're saying this from your own perspective I guess. The fact that schools decide to maintain their grading system doesn't change the nationally accepted standard. Other countries will judge degrees from Nigeria based on the benchmark set by the regulatory body in the country and not by the benchmark of individual universities. It remains to be seen how other countries will judge degrees from Nigeria as soon as the policy comes into effect (those results which will be computed based on the new benchmark). I believe the guy should contact the school and ask what criteria/scale was used in determining the German grade they gave to him (whether 5.or 4.0). Lol, this news is confusing to allot of people. I will explain by using a typical nigerian uni that operates a 5.0 scale ambrose Ali uni. Previous method 4.5-5.0. First class 3.5-4.49. Second class upper 2.5-3.49 second class lower 1.5-2.49 third class 1.0-1.49 pass Minimum grading unit is 1.0 New system 4.5-5.0 first class 3.5-4.49. Second class upper 2.5-3.49 second class lower 1.0-2.49 third class Minimum grading unit is still 1.0 |

Pauluche: Sir Eke what he's saying is right. The PASS GRADE has been eliminated from Nigerian universities. Meaning our scaling system has been altered. We now operate a 4 point scaling system (according to NUC) Thanks U are not totally correct, NUC Removed the pass from the nigeria grading system, Two things I would like to point out 1. This doesn't affect those who have already graduated as it takes effect from this year. 2. This does not affect the grading system in universities. university of ibadan will still maintain her 7.0 system, uniben her 5.0 and the likes. And I agree with eke40seven as 3.0 still amount to 2.5 in the german grading system. I know of someone with this cgpa in the winter 2015 and unassist.ev said it is 2.5 I won't mention who. Shalom!! |

Turkish allows max 48/49kg for your two luggages. Hand luggage is not measured, laptop bag is not measured. But if you carry d load many, then make sure you get power to carry the load.
as for immigration, sort them with 1k.
If you are a first timer international flier... follow these steps.
Go to international depature wing of Aitport, search for your airline agent, check in with them. Print your boarding pass a night before you travel. It will save you time. After checking in ur lugage, u go boarding gate... You pass through series of chekpoints, just follow what others are doing and feel free to ask questions.
For peeps transiting at Istanbul on their 2 hours stop over, quickly disembark from the plane, then go to the international turkish terminal transit desk, (it is upstairs), get ur new boarding pass. You need to hurry oh, so as not to miss your next connecting flight, especially if your first flight from lagos didnt leave on time.
Theres one free wifi at the airport its called wspot or something can really remember. You fit use am take chill if ur transit long. Again, u gats look for am.
Wishing you all a safe flight.
Everything na pay pay for here oh...washing machine pay, drying machine pay, etc etc Ask qustions if you de find road when u land.. Bis Bald! Did u spend the night in the lagos airport? Or u know of anyone who did? |

And I hope you're not talking about BTA - Basic Traveling Allowance. There is nothing like basic travel allowance, at least I haven't heard of it. Unless you're talking about hand luggage which again doesn't have anything to do with immigration. Their business is only to deal with your passport and visa. You might have to add a story that would make them pity you. Defer your admission if it is possible. I have been in your shoes and I know what is involved. In my case I was not even late and that was my defense. my second appointment was in another months time. There is no arm in trying though. Do the calculation and don't let emotions be cloud your reasoning and decision. Embassy no go tolerate lateness, and from what you said, the igboman consulted with the vo before sending you aware. Eke40seven: This is actually not necessary if you can't do your enrollment from here as in the case with TUM especially when you can't make it physically to enrol in person. Here is what I did though, I reached AOK via mail and they mailed me back with a form which I filled, scanned and sent back to them, the next certificate they provided afterwards was my insurance certificate and visa certificate, although I'm yet to know the usefulness of the later but my plan is to enquire from the embassy if I can use it in lieu of the 3 months health and travel insurance. OK, thanks, I will wait and do it in germany |

Rayhut: @Ogagaejay, I now agree with what you are saying, but I still doubt that during the visa interview proper that the VO will grant a Nigerian such visa, but there is no harm in trial. Remember that they said that the visa will be granted if the exam is not going to be more than few weeks before the master study will start in such a university otherwise the person will apply for shengen visa, write the exam and come back to Nigeria and apply for students visa. I got this from the visa section, you can see it is written underneath Yes man, you will need to apply for a Schengen visa if the period is far from resumption else it might be denied. Also the game is like this, you most probably get an admission before that time. So you apply when your admission comes you go for your interview. But there are student there already. That's something to consider |

adenjnr: Its just like applying for a student visa for language school and you make inquiry from the embassy, they will gladly provide you with the necessary information but you wont get the visa in the end. its very simple, When you get a student applicant visa from Nigeria or you see someone who got the visa come back and argue. Until then i rest my case. You don't have a case because there are students in lmu Msc biochemistry already, and concerning the language course, I can tell you german embassy, has stopped issuing visa for language course for about two years now. Please contact them tomorrow, they will give you the same response. |

adenjnr: @ Rayhut is right..... student applicant visa is not applicable to Nigeria. What he says is the exact response you will get from the embassy. Dear Sir, thank you for your e-mail. You do not need an appointment for coming for submission of your application for opening of a blocked account, but can do so Mo.-Wed. between 8.00-11.00 a.m. For further information on this issue, please see the attached information sheet. Regarding your second question, please be informed about the following: If your Master`s Program starts soon after the examination (only a few weeks), you can stay in Germany until the program starts. If there is more time in between the examination and the actual beginning of the program, you are advised to apply for a Schengen (visitor`s visa) to take the examination and come back to Nigeria to apply for a student visa once you have gained admission. Please note that it is not possible to stay in Germany permanently with a Schengen visa. You also have the option to apply for a student applicant`s visa. This visa will allow you to stay in Germany for the duration of nine months in order to gain admission to a German university. If you do not manage to secure admission within these nine months`, you will have to leave Germany again. Otherwise, you can stay permanently. Please find attached an information leaflet regarding the requirements for such a visa. They are basically the same as for regular students visa, but apart from an admission letter, you present proof that you have already applied to one or more German universities or have been in touch with them. You should already be able to state at which university you would best like to study when applying for the visa. When booking an appointment for a student applicant`s visa, please take care to explicitly state in your e-mail what type of visa you are applying for and attach proof of your application to a German university instead of the admission letter. I hope to have been of assistance to you. The situation of things in Germany embassy now, they cannot give a Nigerian a visa to go and write an entrance exam in Germany, I am just been frank with issues, no bitterness or pessimism intended. It is the bitter truth. . There is no need to argue, I have narrated my own experience, and I believe everything in this thread is out of personal experience. The embassy issues study applicant visa I say this because the embassy told me so. I assume those guys you mentioned had the option of writing the exam in Abuja like you mentioned but they chose germany. Shalom |

Rayhut: You think that Nigerian German embassy can give somebody visa to go and write an exam in Germany, an exam which they don't know whether the person will pass or fail. That study applicants visa is definitely not for West Africans. The German embassy in Nigeria cannot give that kind of visa, they may ask you to tell your school to conduct the exam for you through Skype or other Internet means. In a simple word that kind of visa will be very hard to be granted in Nigeria. They never give visa to normal people wey get admission proper finish na person wey dey go for exam. I don't know if there is a basis for your argument at this point. I have answered the question the young man asked. In case you didn't see the line where I mentioned an invitation letter please read through again. Anyhow, the invitation letter act as an admission letter. I don't think you work in the german embassy to know what kind of visa they issue and to which country. |
