Billyonaire: This is the new reality. The price of crude oil will not get up to $100 a barrel in a very long long time. US is not buying, infact they are amending their laws to authorize exports....We are in a long thing. This is the time for all politicians to cut their pay, especially the Legislators. I live in america, and trust me when I say American production of shale oil has many objectives. 1. Less reliance on the middle east for oil 2. Self sufficienCy 3. Technology innovation Nigerians must demand how their leaders are going to deal with American crude oil exports. |
Business › Re: Nigeria’s Excess Crude Account Down To $2.45 Billion by ogbonoeba: 9:11pm On Jan 17, 2015 |
Billyonaire: Excess Crude Account (ECA) is different from External Reserve Account (ERA).
The purpose of the Excess Crude Account is for deposits of funds in excess of the budgetory benchmark i.e when the price of crude oil is beyond the budget price. And the function of that Excess Crude Account funds is to cushion the effect of inflation and marginal fluctuation difference in the event of lower price of crude. This is the account that Rotimi Amaechi of APC has been fighting the Presidency to share the money to Governors.
Right now, we should be grateful to Ngozi Iweala for the wisdom to retain the funds, because it is the funds that's used to stabilize the naira, ordinarily, Naira is supposed to lose three-quarter (3/4) of its value, from say 160 to a dollar to 400 to a dollar due to the current fall in price of crude oil to 3/4 of its price. But na this Excess Crude funds that we are using to stabilize the naira in the FX market. We also touch this money to take buy military hardwares that were not budgeted for during the 2014 budget etc.
I supposed keep quiet but I have to inform the illiterate APC goons that we know their stock in trade. Their job is to shout out of ignorance. Now that crude oil has fallen, what will we do in the meantime? |

sunnshyn: A woman like Oby knows a great deal about Nigeria than most of us.
She knows GEJ is a good man, who unfortunately has surrounded himself with sycophants and wicked people and is now so helpless.
She's speaking out, saying the minds of many Nigerians. Abi, how does one begin to understand before explaining why GEJ visits Maiduguri just one month to the presidential elections? What has he been doing all the while?
Listen, GEJ is not just weak, but very dull, very dull. Just like Oby we all know this. That he has a PhD isn't a criteria for effective leadership.. GEJ has failed all of us in so many ways.
Anyone who continues to support GEJ and his administration amidst all this poverty, hardship and uncertainties are those who benefit from it and are therefore anti-democracy...
We need change!!
God bless Nigeria!! I feel for una. Crude oil price has fallen but the average Nigerian still pays the same price for petroleum products. Thank God I live in yankee, I have saved a lot of money on petrol for my car. Everyday oil price falls I smile from ear to ear |

ZUBY77: Thank you very much. The problem with most black men is that their mindsets are just the worst of everything they possess. Since when did Obama become the yardstick to measure anything? He killed Osama bin Laden. What can Jonathan boast of? Nonsense. |
Politics › Re: GEJ's Visit To Maiduguri Was Hallmark Of Deceit - Oby Ezekwesili by ogbonoeba: 1:23pm On Jan 16, 2015 |
brownlord: You are not in a position to tell him when and when not to visit, that region is war zone, comparing obama and GEJ in this context is senseless, you have a united force in United state fighting for one course, here you have divided military of christian/muslim, northern and southern, most are sympathetic with the terrorist hence reasons for the sabotage, you do not expect a CinC refereed to as infidel or occupying a sit that the north thinks belongs to them ( reasons for the BH menace ) to go strolling in the street of borno when you know not all the soldiers are completely loyal to him. If we have a United army there won't be reasons for the moles which has resulted in the lost of our security men, this is one aspect we cannot rule out.
So comparing Obama and GEJ doesn't make any sense, as GEJ is not your village head that can go roaming the street anytime he likes, he is CinC and can't go anywhere until his security details thinks it's safe for him to go. It took 9 months to assure the president security in his own country? Do you know how pathetic that sounds? Is the Nigerian militry fighting another country or a bunch of hoodlums? The zoologist is your commander in chief. |

Business › Re: Oil Production May Rise By 297,000 BPD In Two Years - NAPIMS by ogbonoeba: 2:22am On Jan 15, 2015 |
otunbakolawole: I don't think that should be the focus of the government. The government should actually cut down on its expense on finding oil in Chad basin and should promptly divert a large chunk of that resource to building new refineries with new technologies. The US is now almost energy independent, in fact they too will be exporting the Shale. oil, at the moment, there is so much supply with low and competitive demand. The shale technology is cheaper, very soon all this high sea drilling will not be cost effective anymore. Before that shock hits us, we should start the buildup of refineries, so that the masses too will start enjoying cheap pump prices.
Also what the government keeps forgetting is when raw oil cost is low chemicals industry profitability goes up. One feeds the other. Also usage goes up with cheapness so demand will increase thus everything from taxes to hemi's will too. Refiners make most of their gains during price transition times, NOT when the price of oil is high or low. The leads and lags are what puts the money on the table from not only the change but the volume increase as well. No matter the general consensus, it's a fact that companies that just refine oil run on about a 9%- 12% profit margin at any given time as opposed to drug companies with extreme margins 40-50% or higher. Unfortunately energy is the main cost of everything on this planet. Americans believe in disruptive technology and innovation. Shale oil will bankrupt naija... |
