I saw this post on my Facebook Wall and I decided to share it on Nairaland for everyone to see,its not just the Boko Haram that are disturbing in the North, there are way more deadlier extremists in d west here more or less like tribalists and bigots, dont get me wrong,I am Ibo by birth, but a Nigerian in my mind,I dont want to come across as a saint but one thing we need in our country is love, respect and admiration for each other's culture, tradition and idiosyncrasies let us condemn openly what is wrong, applaud openly what is right, accomodate each other's differences,I am Ibo but I have lived a better part of my life in the southwest,I have experienced two cultures and I can say that cultural fusion is what we need, let traditions remain,(if its good) it is what makes us who we are,but let cultures mingle,It is what makes us unique, let us learn from each other and respect each other,Life is too short to be lived in constant bickering over silly issues that border on the precipices of culture, stop discriminating, forget what happened in the past and lets welcome a new era where there is love and tolerance.....Read whats below and express your views freely...

what is below is written by one Bola Olalekan...

Worth Pondering Over ........
"If you told Oduduwa that his descendants are now mingling with other nationalities, he would say; I didn't risk descending from heaven to achieve that
If you told Oranmiyan that Oyo is now a mere state and has no autonomy over its affairs, he would say; When i founded Oyo Empire, i envisioned its greatness not its current state
If you told Sango to bless a certain Chukwudi, a compatriot from Nigeria, he would ask; who the h*ll is that? And what the f**k is Nigeria? (fuming with fire gushing outta his mouth)
If you told Moremi Ajasoro that Yoruba people arenow readily called "cowards" by neighbouring ethnic group, she would say; I solely rescued Ile-Ife from its oppressors, why are my descendants letting me down this much?
If you told Alaafin Aole that Yoruba people are now in partnership with Hausa-Fulani he would say; Olorun-maje!(hewould snap his fingers over his head three times) saying; I committed suicide when Afonja partnered Sheik Alimi, i couldn't live to see that.
If you told Alaafin Abiodun that Oba of Oyo is nowa mere undignified title he would say; I don't like expensive jokes please, don't ever repeat that!
If you told Timi Olofa Ina that Yorubas are now being killed at will in the north he would say; I thought i passed my gene on
If you told Kurunmi that Yoruba is unable to defend its territory from apparent threats from terrorists he would say; During my days as Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, my cavalries were always on standby safeguarding the Yoruba territories, I don’t know what you lot do these days
If you told Madam Tinubu that Eko (Lagos) is now being called "no man's land" she would say; The last time i took a glance at Lagos, I was so close totears. she would further say; where did you lot get your leniency from? during our days, we didn'ttake crappy bulsh*t from no one
If you told Herbert Macaulay that Yoruba’s political party is now in a merger with northern parties he would say; I founded the first political party in that country just to give Yoruba people a superior edge
If you told Awolowo that Yoruba graduates can barely solve the simplest Bodmas equation despite his educational investments, he would ask; Really? Is Obasanjo still alive?
If you told MKO Abiola that Bola Tinubu, Bisi Akande and the rest of Yoruba governors are nowclose allies of northerner elites ......... he would justbegin to weep"

**** DAYTIME THINGS, NO TRY THE ABOVE FOR NIGHT!
actually this kinda works, they are really terrible, travelled with my parents to Benin earlier in d year for a programme in UNIBEN,prior to dt time,my dad had invited one of them, paid his transportation to and fro (guess one of d ogas @ d top) to his office thru a traditional ruler he knows in Benin,he asked for a comprehensive list of all d papers they ask for, obnoxious things like sanitary paper, radio, tax, environmental, waste so many outrageous docs like that and he paid for everything,it cost #8000 altogether,d day came and we left for Benin,we got to that spot and they stopped us and asked us to park, those guys wont deny they arent ex-criminals like highway robbers, thieves, car snatchers, they are very wicked,so the introduced themselves, told us abt all d papers we didnt pay and must pay for before we leave,it totaled say #50000,their eyes turn when my dad brought out all d papers, plus d vehicle papers(which they dont have a right to see or ask for) and showed it to them, omo they went dumb, but still they wanted to prove smart, they invented another stupid paper which we didnt have,at this point my dad called d man who came to d office, one of them had a very hot exchange of words with him, finally the man said they should let us go and ended d call, one of them said, whether you like it or not,you must pay for that paper,if we let u go here, they will stop u infront(they have two roadblocks one before d bridge, they other one on or immediately after d bridge, tho they usually have scouts ahead who will call immediately they see a potential car to stop, once he sees you,he calls ahead to tell them to get ready,if u leave the first place, this process repeats itself at d nxt point),we entered d vehicle, but now the driver was already pissed off with one of them so he was angry,we continued on our way,but now the driver was going fast, approaching the second bridge, believing the first guys we met had called d second set guys, even tho we believed their scout had seen us also, the driver increased his speed, faced them,it was a brave attempt, cos one of them was standing in the middle of the road with that dangerous stick covered in nails, but as soon as he saw the speeding vehicle plus d type of vehicle,i believe he developed cold feet and couldnt drop d stick, although we were helped by d fact that they have stopped one vehicle and were ''attending'' to it and maybe didnt have enough time to prepare for us, and also by the fact that those guys we first met would have told them about the complete papers we had,so they had no choice, the invented paper wont stick,so we sped past them as they flew off the road,we heaved a sigh of relief and thanked God,continued on our journey but on our way back around 4pm we didnt see them..the catch is,be prepared for them,if u regularly travel on dt road, cos they charge high, nothing less than btwn 20-30 thousand naira get all their papers beforehand,I believe the Edo state gov knows abt them but cant stop them, maybe its an agreement by way of settling them, they charge all things all a daily basis and the roads are bad, they must have settled d police to be able to operate freely,i wont be surprised if they all those guys own big houses and drive big cars,...

CultureRe: Is Mass Urbanization And Industrialization A Good Thing? by ogtavia(m): 8:00pm On Jul 30, 2013
One thing you must understand is dt both mass urbanization and industrialisation are kinda interwoven, one common fact between the two is the inevitable development, there was a period in the history of America(my apologies) when a certain president(i think Winston Churchill) and his team (more or less like the Nigerian FEC) came up with ideas to improve their country and this they did through industrialization viz-a-viz manufacturing, production, fabrication, assembly what have you, industrialization is a big word until u look at it introspectively, every country needs it,however with industrialization comes the issue of urbanization, what is urbanization;simply urbanization is the process of making a place, region or community urban, more or less like improving the status, conditions of the people by providing services and amenities such as good roads, electricity, pipe born water, security, quality healthcare and all the paraphernalia of urbanization, then with urbanization comes the issues who mentioned are the beginning of this thread, however a major problem with urbanization is when it is localised that is when it is not spread out, that area tends to witness massive influx of all shades of people(mind you,let me say at this junction, urbanization is a relative word, what we consider urban in Nigeria might be less urban or semi-rural in another place)...now,industrialization is a must, mass urbanization is inevitable with industrialization, but in all, development should be widely spread and far reaching such that the side effects of industrialization(yes it has side effects) is mitigated such urbanization spreads out in concentric pattern and is far reaching, the problem is nt industrialization and urbanization,if properly planned and managed,it will work, but d problem is having far reaching development everywhere,u cannot industrialise a whole country, but every town, city, village can have a touch of urbanity(permit me,i no grammar school) in them..

blink182: see your stewpid president starring like he actually knows how to use his brain.
you are an idiot for this stupid, audacious, lousy and empty headed comment..this man, regardless of any known or unknown issue,is still our president, even if he issnt ''our'' president,he is still old enough to be your father,i am really sorry for you and all those people who ''liked'' ur comment,i do not support what is wrong, whatever you think he has done wrong, leave him for God and posterity to judge him(i dnt trust d Nigerian judicial system anymore)..but please for God's sake, dont insult him,u av no moral justification to insult him and by d way,i am nt necessarily a Jonathan fan
PoliticsRe: Obahiagbon To Patience - "Wole Is Far From The Problem, Your English Is" by ogtavia(m): 8:37pm On Jul 14, 2013
Policewoman: Is it because they are both Lettered grammarians that they will be intimidating this woman? That's unfair.
se ode ni e le yi ni..who is intimidating who, this is a problem with Nigerians,is PEJ d first woman to be Nigeria's First Lady, stella obj ,turai, name them...didnt conduct themselves in d way and manner PEJ conducts herself, listen to me,this PEJ problem didnt start today,it started way back even before her husband became president, does she know what modesty, humility, submission, sublime support for her husband means, maybe I am wrong, but I can not be totally wrong, she has lifted herself so high such that the office of the first lady(which is even unconstitutional) is viewed with so much contempt by learned and reasonable Nigerians, soyinka never insulted,by all means she is a child when compared to soyinka in age,a toddler when compared to him in knowledge,a learner when compared to him in hard earned achievements,so what are we arguing abt,she has abused her position as first lady, such that she is even covered in the murky waters of state partisan politics, doesnt VP Gambo have a wife,SP Mark have a wife, isnt okonjo a woman, isnt michelle obama a human being, look,I am nt a fan of soyinka, but I donot support what is wrong,if Nigeria will grow and develop, economically and politically,we should graduate from the doldrums of sentimentality and ascend the realm of calling a spade a spade

(sorry for my initial language,I respect women a lot, infact I av 4 sisters as my only siblings, but atimes d way women reason drives me crazy,i apologise if u feel slighted by my earlier language)

spydee411: Did you say 8.8million Naira for a detached house. The budget it not feasible my brother! That money can barely get u to decking not to talk of roofing or plastering
My brother I thought as much oh.you want to build a duplex (or a mansion like d thread is titled) on a budget of 8.8m,8.8m is scarcely enough for a detached bungalow, the foundation and suspended floor will gulp almost half of dt project while d roof will cost almost or a little above a million naira...except d building construction is to be done in phases...even d price of d so called granite goin by current market situation is well over 150000 naira per truckload...all d best tho brother.
