Oluwadare:I understand your point of view. Look at this: We go to church and we are reminded of "same thing" everyday. The truth is many do not know. Many know and choose not to implement because they may not see the importance. Some implemented initially and their morale dropped after a while. Articles that portray real life experiences like this are designed to put one back on track. You will be amazed how many people benefit from such posts. Enjoy your evening!! |
Oluwadare:Self marketing is a continuous process. Pick what works for you and move on. - Yes, recruiters are busy! Do you stop your job hunt as a result? Do you send a crappy CV and no cover letter as a result? - When employers say they do not need some items on your CV, have you stopped to think if those items are relevant? - Your CV should be adjusted each time you want to apply for a job as each job should be considered unique. - Your choice to use professional CV writers does not render the job tips void. All the best. |
Saraha1:You can send your CV with your Blackberry phone. Simply edit the default signature that comes with the phone "Sent from Blackberry wireless". You do not need to market Blackberry further. They are popular already. Replace with your full name, email and phone number. |
wroskian:It is unfortunate that many do not see it as marketing. |
I want to share a few lessons from the ongoing recruitment at MyJobMag.com The 4 week contract job is for a Data Entry Officer (Youth Corper). The job description was posted online on myjobmag.com at exactly 7am this morning. As at the time of this writing, 1.19pm, we have a total number of 91 applications. The shortlisting has started as it is an urgent position and job description taken down. Find below vital lessons to learn from this exercise. 1. Speed The saying "delay is dangerous" can be said to be true for almost everything in life including job search. As a jobseeker, procrastination may make you miss a job and this is clearly illustrated here. Please, do not tell me that you missed it because "the job is not destined for you". Since the open position does not require any special skillset, we received 91 applications in less than 7 hours of posting. This may equally apply for other jobs that do not require special skills and experience. So, what are you waiting for? Push out your application for that job right away! Oh, we have closed submissions for the data entry position in 7 hours contrary to our initial July 24th deadline. Hope this gives you an extra reason to apply now. 2. Break a few rules Disclaimer: You need wisdom here. If you lack wisdom, please move to point 3. Considering that the Data Entry contract position is a basic one, we decided to peg the remuneration at N30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira). This we believe is too little for a University graduate. Putting the aforementioned in perspective, we decided that we will prefer a Youth Corper that can quickly get the job done. Does this mean that we cannot recruit an OND graduate or awaiting service or even a graduate for the 4 weeks? The answer is NO. We only felt that the N30,000 can only make sense for an intern or corper. This illustration can be extended to other scenarios, such as: 1. An accountant with ability the use two accounting software. If you are an excellent accountant with the requisite experience and can use one accounting software, you may consider applying for the job. 2. The company requests for 5 years experience, and you have 4 years requisite experience. Please go ahead and apply. Just do your best to convince them that you can do the job. Now, back to my disclaimer. Please, do not apply if: An accountant is required and you are an engineer. A man is required and you are a woman Minimum of 10 years experience is required and you are a fresh graduate (No prayer and fasting can help you here). I am sure you can think of other scenarios where it may be near useless to apply. I decided to add the "near" to the useless to ensure someone does not come up with "nothing is impossible". The summary is: as a smart applicant, you need to understand the tone of the message. This will enable you know what is considered a deal breaker or optional. 3. Follow Instructions Now, point 2 and point 3 appear contradictory, right? Please, think again because they are not! Not following application procedure is wrong. The job description clearly states: "send application", over 50% of candidates that applied forwarded blank emails with their CVs attached. Seeing such makes me feel that you cannot write or you are just spreading your CV "as usual" or you simply think it is not worth the extra effort. We also requested that the subject of email be "Data Entry". Sadly over 30% did not follow this. This is obviously a bad sign. Some emails had "FW: " as part of the subject. Do you think a recruiter needs to know that you are just forwarding an email? 4. Little things matter! It amazes me how jobseekers send in CVs with a blank body. I consider this simply ridiculous. No greeting, no introduction, not even a reminder that you have your CV attached. To buttress my point, we did not go through CVs that came with a blank body at all. The question is this: Why go through a blank email when I can see better applications? Why go for a mediocre candidate? You need to change the "lazy mentality". Job search is a project and should be seen and handled as such. Quit being regular and lazy (sorry for being harsh). Determine to get your dream job fast. Wish you all the best. I saw a post on LinkedIn for a job posted via Workable by PushCV before it was supposedly removed. If this is so, does it mean there is no good candidate from the "Elite Employees"? What do you think? Picture attached.

LinkedIn announced its biggest acquisition yet on Thursday, spending $1.5 billion for online education company lynda.com. The deal adds a new revenue stream to LinkedIn — lynda.com is reportedly already profitable — as well as a deep slate of web-based learning programs, as the social network looks to provide more utility for users beyond its professional connections. "At LinkedIn, we’ve followed lynda.com for a long time, rooted in the conviction that access to high-quality, skills-based learning-and-development content should be available to every LinkedIn member and a fundamental part of our platform," LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner wrote in a post announcing the deal. The deal is 52% cash and 48% LinkedIn stock. Online education companies have recently enjoyed an influx of venture capital money, with almost $2 billion invested in the space in 2014. That has included optimism for the type of adult education that lynda.com focuses on, but also programs targeted at younger people still in school. Founded in 1995, lynda.com is a subscription-based service that offers education on a wide variety of topics from web design and screenwriting to database management and interior design. The company did not take much funding for its first 18 years, but began to raise with a $103 million round in 2013. More recently, lynda.com raised $186 million in January 2015 for its second major round. Lynda.com appeals to individuals seeking to improve their skill set, but also has a considerable enterprise side Lynda.com appeals to individuals seeking to improve their skill set, but also has a considerable enterprise side that works with businesses as well as public and government institutions. It counts Time Warner and Patagonia as clients. LinkedIn shares, which had been slightly higher in pre-market trading, were down 1.3%. Eric Robison, CEO of lynda.com, said the acquisition represented a chance to bring lynda.com's education to a wider audience. "In LinkedIn, we have found an incredible partner who shares our vision and passion for empowering people around the world to make real change in their lives through access to information, learning and professional development," he said in a press release. Adding education services to its existing features provides job seekers with another reason to use LinkedIn, said Ryan Roslansky, head of content at LinkedIn. "Imagine being a job seeker and being able to instantly know what skills are needed for the available jobs in a desired city, like Denver, and then to be prompted to take the relevant and accredited course to help you acquire this skill. Or doing a search on SlideShare to learn about integrated marketing and then to be prompted with a lynda.com course on the same subject," he wrote in a post. Lynda.com was started by Lynda Weinman and Bruce Heavin, her husband. Weinman taught herself how to use computers and was teaching courses on computer graphics when the world wide web began to grow. She bought lynda.com for $35 and wrote a book on web graphics that became a best seller. She then started the online school with her husband, growing it over several years. The business is also among the earliest example of online success through subscriptions. Courses on her site, she told Forbes, were never free. "We always charged for our work without over charging, and people who respected it and learned from us shared their appreciation by telling others," Wienman said. dsquare33:So true! The other day someone told me not to buy agege bread on my street so girls and some people will not see me as it will "derep" me. Meanwhile, majority of those people he may be thinking of will actually love to be part of my agege bread and stew |
1. We spend money we don't have, to buy things we don't need, to impress people we don't like. 2. We make them cry who care for us, We cry for those who never care for us, And we care for those who will never cry for us. 3. Those who have a lot to say, speak very little. And those who have little to say, speak a lot. 4. Those who lay foundations of your home, sleep on the pavements! 5. So many of us spend most of our lives crippled with fear of what other people think of us, when in reality, those other people aren't making judgements on us, but rather, are worried about what we think of them. 6. No one has got time to soothe your sadness or care about your problems, but everyone has got enough time to notice your mistakes, and point at you! 7. Most people are unable to embrace their true selves. Most are afraid of what others would think. 8. Most people never listen; they are just waiting for their chance to talk. 9. Most of the time, the person who don't love you keep you from the one who will. 10. Life is the Art of pretending to be normal. Please add yours. |

This is an article I wrote in 2012 and I consider it very valid today. ----- Welcome to MyJobMag Special Series! You may miss reading our job posts but never miss any episode of this series. The aim of MyJobMag "GET THE JOB" series is to discuss how you can grab that your "dream" job. This series is designed to sharpen your job hunting skills and YOU as a whole! WE ENCOURAGE YOU READ ON AND FOLLOW THIS SERIES AS IT PROMISES TO BE ENGAGING AND EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL. MAKE SURE YOU RECOMMEND AND SHARE IF YOU FIND IT USEFUL. NOW, TODAY'S FEATURE PRESENTATION IS: USE OF ENGLISH Asides skills and 'connection', English is an extremely important factor in your job search journey! Before you disagree, consider these two scenarios: Scenario 1 A good looking gentleman walks into an interview room, beaming with smiles, greets the interviewer and sits down; and only five minutes into the interview, has murdered English Language terribly and severally! Scenario 2 The next gentleman, equally skilled, beaming with smiles and speaks good and clear English throughout the interview session. Verdict Assuming you are the interviewer, will you think twice on whom to employ? Wouldn't you rather have a vacant position than employ the gentleman in the first scenario? WHAT TO DO At this point, you really have to look inwards, ask yourself the following questions and sincerely answer them: - Do I have problems with English Language tenses? - Do I experience difficulties expressing my thoughts in correct English sentences? - Do I usually switch to my native language or pidgin when stuck and never make an attempt to learn? - Do I find it difficult writing simple application letters recently? - Am in the "I can think it, but cannot write it" category? - If you answered 'yes' to any of these personal assessment questions above, then you need to act fast! - This is necessary not only for your job search but for your personal confidence too. TAKE THE STEP 1. We know you are a graduate, but humbly buy a good secondary school grammar book. Read and practice with the book as if you are preparing for an exam. Do not relent until you are comfortable with grammar. 2. Do not watch movies and music videos only. Rather, make it a habit to listen to your favourite news channel or discussions daily. Pay special attention to their use of English and construction. 3. For guys, do not read the sports section of newspapers only! Do not only check the Premier League table. Make out time to read interesting article in the newspaper. 4. If you do not have a dictionary, buy one. If you have, USE IT. If you can install apps on your phone, install the dictionary app. 5. Ask questions if you come across anything unfamiliar. When answered, repeat what was said severally. 6. Do not feel bad when corrected, rather ask for explanation if not clear. We understand that "things are bad", but you have to iron out your part!!! Asides from the obvious benefits of good English language in securing a job, it may be extremely essential in keeping the job too. START TODAY!!! TAKE THAT STEP TOWARDS IMPROVING YOUR COMMAND OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE YOU WILL NEVER REGRET YOU DID FEEL FREE TO LIKE AND SHARE IF YOU FIND BENEFICIAL! Culled from MyJobMag.com |

Sex is good, we are only discussing when its excess. Also, excess is relative. Mr. A's excess could be Mr. B's starting point. Just know how far your engine can go and don't over stress it. If you are running a V12 engine, fire down. If you are running a V4 engine, don't push yourself to a V12 capacity. |

The question of how much sex is too much sex is really a burning question in the hearts of many young people. It may be wrong to attach a figure to how much sex is too much sex, but the moment you start losing your strength & vitality, you may have to watch it. People have different body systems, some stronger and some weaker. For some, having sex daily may be okay and for others it may be killing. I will personally advise you to watch it when the following starts happening: - You feel so weak after sex. I agree that this is a normal feeling, but if you feel so so wasted, not out of physical exertion but internal emptiness, and this feeling lasts for a long while, then you may need to watch it. - If your ejaculate feels so watery. This may not be an issue but don't you think your system needs some rest? - You are begining to lose interest in the activity and you try to avoid it. Maybe avoiding it is the wisest thing thing to do. If you feel you fall under this category, you may need to discuss with your spouse on this matter. Sex is meant to be savoured and if it starts affecting your activities adversely then it is too much for you. To further buttress your points while discussing with your spouse, kindly read the following excerpt on the effects of excess sex from a website below: Effects of Excessive Sex It taxes the body Excessive and constant sexual activities; which often culminates in over-ejaculation leads to over-production of androgen hormones. These excesses could lead to adrenal and sex organ fatigue. It strains and taxes the body; making the person to look worn out and haggard. It is true that much pleasure is inherent in sex but over-indulgence does have its effects on the person involved. It is also a known medical fact that Epinephrine, norepinephrine and cortisol are all released during sexual intercourse and they increase the fight-or-flight response, directly increasing heart rate, triggering the release of glucose and increasing blood flow to the skeletal muscle. All these activities have an immense taxing effect on the body. Weakens immunity Excessive sexual activities weaken the body’s natural immunity. The hormone prostaglandin E-2, which serves an important function in sexual arousal, is overproduced when one engages in marathon or excessive sexual activities and has an inflammatory effect on the body by; damaging tissues, nerves and joints, weakening immunity, causing muscular and nervous pain, and promoting infection, inflammation, and even cancer. Lack of sexual stimulation/impotence It has been researched and discovered that excessive sex does lead to chronic elevation of epinephrine and prostaglandin E2 which results in severe damage to brain cells and parasympathetic nerves in the liver, lungs, adrenal glands, heart, blood vessels and some other vital body systems. Consequentially, you might experience a number of symptoms, including depression, anxiety, persistent sexual arousal and sexual dysfunction such as impotence and premature ejaculation in men and a lack of sexual stimulation in women. Long term sexual inflammation All of the afore-mentioned effects of excessive sexual activities causes the pituitary gland and testicles (ovaries in women) to become disabled for some days or even months, leading to a long-term sexual exhaustion and inflammation. The first thing you might notice is a tightening or rigid feeling in your muscles and joints anytime you ejaculation. It could be really painful. The pain becomes even more severe at about 2-4 hours after ejaculating due to the sudden drop of DHEA, testosterone and DHT. You may experience some real pains for a couple of days until your prolactin and cortisol levels are returned to their normal ranges. Could lead to hair loss / baldness Hair loss is a major concern especially among the middle aged and there are many alleged causes treatments for it. However, a lot of people also fail to address a major underlying cause: a high stress physical response sometimes triggered by over-ejaculation. At puberty, boys maintain an extremely high level of testosterone and DHT without stress and are therefore able to achieve a full head of hair. As they grow older, men with a high level of DHT and stress lose their hairs. Stress and its induced inflammatory factors in the bloodstream are known to deplete melatonin production during the night and heat up the blood, causing hair loss. ----- Ladies, do not overwork your husbands. I understand you may want is two times daily but ensure it is not detrimental to your husband's health. From your perspective, how much sex do you think is excess sex? Are there other points to make this clearer or corrections to this article? Let us share! |

No matter how difficult it is to accept or deal with, life has so many exceptions. The same bible, that says "thou shall not kill", celebrates killings at wars. If this can be justified is something I cannot explain. In my opinion, if killing is something one can safely avoid (the keyword is safely), yet ones goes ahead to kill, then it is a sin. This absolves killing at war, as you cannot safely avoid killing. |
