n spite of protests from two of the three Edo senators, the Senate on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of Mr. Donald Omorodion as a part time board member of the NDDC. The two PDP senators, Senator Odion Ugbesia representing Edo Central and Senator Yisa Braimoh from Edo North, made frantic efforts to stop Omorodion’s nomination. Omorodion ironically received encomiums from other senators. Ugbesia had told the Senate that he received a letter from the authorities of the College of Education, Benin, stating that Omorodion never attended the school as he claimed. “I don’t think that we should go into confirming somebody just because you think that he is fit and proper. “ Those of us from Edo State think that he is not fit and proper. “Secondly, we were not consulted before his nomination. That means the Edo senators are being sidelined. “We have discovered that some people do not have respect for senators and anybody who does not have respect for senators should not be celebrated,” he said. He also said that there were two different curriculum vitaes of the nominee in circulation. Also speaking, Sen. Yisa Braimoh said the qualifications and credentials of the nominee were faulty. He further said that the letter on the nominee from the National Youth Service Corps also bore a name different from that of the nominee. But Senator Edobor Uzamere, also of Edo, rose in support of the nominee, saying that he was properly consulted. “I have no doubt that he is fit to be a part time member of the NDDC Board,” he said. Senate President David Mark, however, described as “unfortunate” the kind of politics being played by the Edo senators in the chambers. “I will not sit down here and allow this hallowed chamber to be dragged into the politics of any state. “ I think Edo senators haven’t gotten themselves together. It is local Edo politics that is being brought here,” he said. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta, Senator James Manager, said although the committee received a petition from the two senators, they failed to appear during the screening of the nominee to present it. The nominee was thereafter overwhelmingly confirmed by the Senate. SOURCE: http://www.nigerianobservernews.com/18032010/news/news5.html MY OPINION- This is what the PDP is; no sense of decency. The whole thing got so bad that even the senate president noticed that it was plain politics by anenih's housboys at the senate and David Mark simply overuled them. Who hasnt heard of the weakling called ogbesia or the failed hotelier called yisa braimah? Even in abuja, they still humiliate themselves!! Dont they have kids to tell them; "Daddy stop humiliating yourself"? |

Is this news? Dont we already know we are a failed nation? |
On arrival at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, the reporters approached Obasanjo for comments on the state of the nation and sundry issues. Obasanjo, who arrived at about 1.30 pm, sauntered into the waiting lounge with his new wife, Bola and other friends. As the reporters greeted him: "Good afternoon Your Excellency, how is today? An unexcited Obasanjo fired back in yoruba: Eyin omo yi, ema yo mi lenu k’oluwa ma yo yin lenu, meaning " You these children, do not trouble me so that God will not trouble you." Following his admonitions, the reporters filed back into the tight Press Centre tucked into a section of the expansive lounge. The reporters watched from the sidelines as Obasanjo moved out of the lounge to board the private jet that taxied to the tarmac end of the Presidential Lounge about 2.30 pm. Shortly after the aircraft taxied towards the runway end for take - off, the five-car convoy that escorted him into the lounge amid tight security rode back to town. Obasanjo was dressed in a light colour attire with his wife. Obasanjo usually engaged airport reporters in clapping, dancing and other comic activities , as a way of parrying questions from them whenever he is passing by. MY COMMENTS: 1. Which kin woman gree marry OBJ? Women and their LONG THROAT SEF!! 2. So anyone when insult OBJ now, na God e insult? That man is just delusional |

QUESTION: Lets assume the worst that Christians attacked the muslims? In the muslim religion, DOES THAT JUSTIFY A BLOODY REVENGE WHERE LITTLE KIDS ARE BEHEADED? IF islam supports such bloody revenges, why is it called a religion of PEACE? |
that is the problem, the army did NOTHING!! SILENCE is CONSENT!! |
Now, we are hearing exactly what caused the whole thing! Enough of this ceremonial "committee" being set up. Let goodluck face this mayhem as a man should and punish ALL involved irrespective of religious affiliations! @snowdrops, FINALLY, ONE thing we both can agree on! |
the Fulani leader and secretary Sultan’s Farmer/Cattle Rearers Conflict Committee, Sale Bayari, said the recent mishap was caused by failure of both the Plateau State Government and the Presidential Committee on Jos Crisis to clearly address the losses of the Fulanis in past crisis. Bayero, who claimed to be a none stakeholder in the crisis, also said it was unfair for the police to continue to hold the 49 Fulanis arrested so far, adding that what happened was a complete case of jungle justice. He said: “Some of us have been forced to live like outlaws in Jos. Why would a government turn its own responsibility upside down? Under the circumstances of what has been happening in Plateau State, some people just have to die.
