AbiaOnline: Company Name: Golden Guinea Breweries Plc
Head Office, Aba Road, Afara Layout, Umuahia. Abia State.
Date Listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange: 1st Jan 1979
Directors: Chief . C. Onyearugbulem - (Chairman) Mr. I. G. Idika (MD/CEO) Mr. J. A. Alumonah H.R.M. Eze Nwabiaraije Eneogwe Dr. N. C U. Okoro Chief A. U. Nsofor Mr. T. T. Mirilla Mr. U. U. Nwafor Mr. O. N. Ndukwe Mr. E. E. Uhiara Company SecretaryMr. Udo Ogaranya
Auditors: Akintola Williams Deloitte (Chartered Accountants) Plot 129A Ikenegbu Layout, Owerri, Imo State
The company produces Golden Guinea beer.
Golden Guinea was originally named Independence Brewery Limited, the location was chosen due to the importance of water which led to the selection of a site in Umuahia, the town of the regional premier, Dr. Michael Okpara. Production started in 1963 with an annual capacity of 1 million gallons. The company introduced Eagle Stout to the market in 1967 but between 1967 and 1970, further production was hampered by the Nigerian Civil War. In 1971, the company changed its name to the current one Golden Guinea Breweries. In 1975, the company was revamped and an extension was built by the German firm Coutinho Caro which later participated in an equity offering issued by the firm.
Production at the brewery was hampered by a fire incident in 2003 but recent attempts have been made to resuscitate the firm. The company holds franchise rights to produce and market Golden Guinea Beer, Holsten Brewery's Bergedorf premium lager beer and Bergedorf Malta in Nigeria.
Majority shares in the company were later purchased by Pan Martine Investments Ltd promoted by Mr. Okey Nzenwa from Mbaise in Imo State.
Mr. Nzenwa then set about resuscitating ailing company. His company replaced the burnt boilers and proceeded to install an entirely new line of production making Golden Guinea the company with the most modern brewery in West Africa.
However, due to the financial crisis of 2015 and the skyrocketing cost of the dollar, the company ran into problems actuated by the cost at which needed equipments were invoiced and the prevailing cost of FOREX at the time of payment and delivery.
The crisis affected the ability of the company to meet projected resumption timelines.
The company needed more funds to complete its retooling works and because of its existing debt exposures, lenders were wary. Events ground to a halt.
Thus was the state of affairs until the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu decided to lead a drive to resuscitate all moribund industries in Abia State irrespective of ownership.
It bears stating that almost all the industries in Abia State hitherto owned by Government have been privatised preceeding the assumption of office of Dr. Ikpeazu as Governor.
Leveraging on the solid relationship he had built with the Federal Government, Dr. Ikpeazu took Mr. Okay Nzenwa to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo where the promoter of Golden Guinea stated his case and explained how macro-economic policy of the Federal Government affected his investment and have hampered his ability to raise new funds to restart the company.
The Vice President graciously approved the request of Mr. Nzenwa for Federal Government lending institutions to grant him facilities.
Today, Nigerian Export Import Bank (NEXIM) have granted Mr. Nzenwa a facility of $10M (N3.6B) while the Bank of Industry have also pitched in with an Economic Revival Facility.
These new funds have granted a new lease of life to the company and installation works have resumed in earnest.
In the next couple of months, barring new untoward developments, Golden Guinea Breweries Plc, Umuahia will be reopened to the public.
More updates will be provided as developments unfold.
Sam Hart Good development. Our youths will be employed. |

He said, “Give a nationwide order to all land-usurpers in the affected towns and villages across the nation to quit those forcefully occupied lands within a forty-eight hours deadline.
“Issue orders to the military and police that, wherever illegal occupiers are found, they should be meted the same treatment as are accorded terrorists. Instruct all agencies that, once cleared of usurpers, the rightful occupants should be escorted back to their farmsteads and villages and provided maximum protection.”

Bakrabas: Unbelievable Buhari
[s]Many people are saying the Dapchi saga is UNBELIEVABLE. Well, I go with them. Everything about Buhari has been unbelievable for a very long time.
Even history accords him that UNBELIEVABLE respect.
It was unbelievable when PMB killed Maitatsine terrorism in 1980
It was unbelievable when he killed Makiniki at the Cameroun border in 1981
It was unbelievable when he built our first set of refineries as Petroleum Minister
It was unbelievable when he won the 2015 presidential election
It was unbelievable when he silenced IPOB
It was unbelievable when we stopped hearing of Niger Delta militants
It was unbelievable when he reduced and decimated boko haram to soft target attackers
It was unbelievable when fuel queues disappeared in the face of sabotage and excessive profiteering besides fraudulent subsidy regimes.
It will still be UNBELIEVABLE when Nigeria will stop importing refined products with the full operation Dangote Refinery and other modular refineries across Nigeria.
And it will still be UNBELIEVABLE to many wailers and enemies of Nigeria that Buhari will win 2019 Presidential election in a landslide victory.
I call him Mr UNBELIEVABLE.
Why do I call him MR. UNBELIEVABLE?
-Shortly after he resumed office, they sponsored Avengers to halt oil business(Country's major income), he tackled them.
-They later sponsored IPOB secessionists, he silenced them
- Being the promoter of farming, they bought, hoard and even destroyed the farm products after the harvest, to create hunger in the land and ignite civil uproar, but he invested more in farming to bridge the gap they have created
-They made an attempt on his life, put poisoned-gas in his office air conditioning system, but God Helped, healed and returned him back home, after months.
-They ganged up with some people in the NASS to scuttle all progressive bills and laws in order to make him bow, he remained resolute.
-They used all sorts of characters in the NASS including the "common sense" senator to ridicule him and distract him, he remained indifferent.
-They imported, smuggled deadly-weapons and sponsored killings, and internal crimes to tarnish his government, he squared up their effort and keep beating them.
-They took false campaign of calumny against him to foreign countries, in return he gets more support and encouragement from international world.
They even attempted pitch him against his friend Tinubu, but the Ashiwaju is a wise man, and politically savvy. He disappointed them.
-They resolved to begging him not to contest again, he left them in tenterhook and suspense.
-Now they knelt down and beg military to take over. He smiled. When you hear these people crying, please note that Nigeria is progressing, and getting off its hook. They prefer anybody apart from him, they presented/suggested many options within their circle. As they create the distractions and the sabotage, he remains resolute, focused, determined, calculative and committed to the welfare and well being of his country masses.
Buhari all the way

What ever be the result of the counter reaction is left for the future to decide. Igbo land once fought a civil war and are still ready to fight another civil war. Yes there will be a corresponding counter reaction by our youths while the Fulani dominated military will take over our towns and cities and kill more of our youths in cold blood. Haven't Python dance2 in Abia and Rivers state taught you guys something? We don't have the ability to wage and sustain war against the state even for one day. This is not 1966 when we had Ojukwu as our military governor and leader over the whole Eastern region with all the military and security extablishment firmly under his control. |

Odingo1:
It cannot happen in a mass scale in Igboland, that is not possible the way it is happening in Middle belt, there will be another civil war.
This is not boasting but a reality, the core north know it and will never try it.
An Igbo nation cannot fold their hands and die like chiken at the hand of state sponsored terrorist, the people that is wielding the gun are your fellow human beings, they don't have two heads even the army. You think after they subdued Middle belt they will stop there and Igboland won't be next. You guys underestimate the determination of these Jihadists to get to the sea at all cost. @horsepower101 If state sponsored killing by Fulani herdsmen terrorist happen again in Igboland and it provoked another Biafra uprising, don't you think the state under Buhari will use another brutal Egwu Eke part 3 to quell such an uprising. What will be your defense? |
Politics › Re: Middle Belt, Benue And The Civil War by Ojiofor: 12:20pm On Apr 27, 2018 |
Odingo1: Mocking them is bad but coming to Igboland after middle belt is not their target because they fear Biafra restoration, Igbos have already fought and rebrate their land from conquest, their target is middle belt and South West. You should know this is state sponsored terrorism, they did it at Nimbo in Enugu state...this no time to gloat because they have killed in every state of the federation.Igbo youths should be reseasonable enough to mind their business. |
