pocohantas: Hmm....i understand the feeling perfectly. I would have been in that shoe & maybe still sad about it. I completed ND with 'almost distinction' and earnestly desired 1st class at B.Sc. The nearly syndrome tried to rear its ugly head again but I was favoured. I left with 1st class + 0.01 jara. 1 Like 1 Share |

Visit a good hospital. ask to see or be referred to an orthopaedic surgeon. if u are below 21, he may recommend braces which help or some other therapy. |

Ms2ra: you need to add your baby to your ticket first. your return ticket alone does not suffice. |

hello house, please how exactly does this visa on arrival application work? I sent the application with all the required attachments within the last 24 hours & I am yet to get any mail. not even the 'received' mail. I thought that was like an autoreply acknowledging receipt of my application? for the approval letter, when will that arrive? I'm getting quite edgy 'cos I do not have time again. Someone please help!!! |

adycatus: nope, you shouldnt include him as your travel companion on your DS 160 application cos he isn't. only u & your child are each other's travelling companion. 1 Like 1 Share |

adycatus: I'll advise that u use your aunt instead of the doctor. I wanted to use my doc too but his practise manager explained that they may be called when the office is closed and then only the answering machine will be reached. she advised to use a relative, a friend or the hospital. I called the hospital & they said they don't pre-register patients until they arrived Houston even with my doc's correspondence showing acceptance. in any case, check with your doctor/hospital first. I then use my BIL. and can you believe that he was called the morning of the day I arrived to check if he was expecting someone? use same contacts for u & your child. it will be tricky if u decide to go with the doc as contact though. cos technically your child isn't their patient, only u are. |

Leomichael: 1. your application now will give u a B1/B2 visa which covers for both trips. u won't need to reapply later if successful. 2a. you may go with your family for your interview now. just state it as it is. you have a business to attend in august & also childbirth with your family in october. but make sure u have all the supporting documents & burden of proof for childbirth ready. I went with my chidren for my interview in February even though we had different travel dates. mine was in march primarily for childbirth while theirs was in april for childbirth & vacation. they travelled with their dad. 2b. as had been advised, you can go alone now while they apply later. but bear in mind that u won't be abLe to go with them. I suppose they will be fine without you. 2 Likes |

Eilenora:1. you have done the spreadsheet. apart from the cost, how about the stress - the wear & tear u suffer? I'll advise you travel straight. 2. Your toddler will be fine with your mum. I doubt the changes will have any psychological effect on her. is she used to your mum before now? I was in this situation some years ago. although, I wasn't on birth tourism; I was transferred to another location in Nigeria & I had a 2.5 year old toddler & a 4 months old baby. I wasn't sure how the new place will be & I imagined that it will be stressful caring for 2 small pickins all by myself. so, I left the toddler with my mum in lagos for 1 whole term & went with the baby to my new location! meanwhile, my husband was also in lagos but in another part of lagos. he got to see her only on weekends. she had to change schools, too. it didn't have any psychological effect that I'm aware of on her. but my mind was constantly with her for that 3 months. so the question is, will your mind be at rest leaving her behind. 3. if your MIL is available, can she move into your home for the 2.5 months so that the only change your toddler has is your absence? 4. A 3rd suggestion is, if your budget can accommodate it; go with her and let her attend a daycare the weeks you know you can't cope. But who will stay with her the days you are away for delivery & the days immediately after the baby's birth when u are trying to get yourself? 2 Likes |
