Hello guys. I was giving visa and study permit last April for September 2015 session but I didn't travel because of wife's ill-health. I asked for deferral and that was given to but a friend who is resident in Canada advised that I apply for another study permit. This I did since April 28 2016 but am yet to hear from them and my application is over 15weeks while my admission is for September. kindly advise me on next line of action to take.
oga your case is strange and weird. Why would u apply for another study permit if your previous permit wasn't expired?

You are right. I even just read that CIC will be the ones to determine if an applicant can withdraw his or her app or not. This people are demons

The day I applied for the visa, the processing time was 10 weeks, it's now 15 weeks, probably they think it's easy to move to another country within 1 week and settle down. I literally paused my life for months but I canceled my Canadian visa application and requested a refund a week ago. I got my U.S. visa approved on Monday.

I'm divergent in nature and I also have to protect my dignity. I will not pay processing fee just to be subjected to this biased and inhumane treatment. I have many things to say but one of the many things I find appalling is that they provide status update to many other countries within days or few weeks but keep us waiting forever as if we don't have any reasonable thing to do with our lives, yet we keep paying for this gullible treatment.

If you think all they are just doing is scrutinize application, you are wrong. Their main objective is to apply what is called Social Engineering, they are applying social and human control into the approval or denial process, that's why you will see some applicant who waited 20 weeks get denied with silly reasons like "Purpose of visit".

They need to treat all applicant with respect and dignity. I support those that have also contacted the Canadian immigration minister, I have also bitterly and constructively gave them a piece of my mind. Let's all speak up when we see injustice, by doing that, we are helping future applicants.

Good luck everyone.
Please how did u cancel ur app? And also was your refund for school fees or visa application fee?

Your assertion is baseless. I am going for Masters (Thesis-based) in Civil Engineering. With a full funding/scholarship and my application is 17 weeks. I haven't been called for medical yet. Stop saying that it is PGD/PGC that is treated unfairly. There are many masters students that haven't gotten their TRV yet. Most of them are not on nairaland. Please do your research well before you come here to make a baseless claim. Stop complicating issues and put your hope on God. Each person case is different in the eye of the VOs. We should pray for grace. It is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy (Rom 9:16).
Oga, I believe most peeps here are spiritual people. It is glaring that the CIC process is generally inconsistent for us Nigerians and it is now far from being a case by case issue. What is not ideal, is not ideal. CIC is not being fair and just here.

Why is it that some of my brothers who are Nigerians always have a way of hiding under the umbrella of being civil when it comes to issues that affect the general public. Some people act so diplomatic with the truth

To all TRV hopefuls in the house, I see no reason why we should start raising a bad alarm about we Nigerians. Sending bulk messages will definitely raise a false alarm about us. The more messages we send, the more they understand our frustration and our eagerness to leave the country due to our economic problems. Believe me or not, they have made certain decisions, our mere complaints will have no effect. Besides there are better ways to go about stuffs like this rather than start chocking them with messages. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

#PrayforPGC-PGD cheesy
Are you now suggesting we all should be quiet on this issue?? I don't think so. There are some people out there who applied since April. My brother those people have to move on with their lives instead of being tied emotionally to one Canada Study Permit application. The worst of it is that some of us have our International Passports in their domain. Please retract your comments for their sake. Thanks

TRV approval lies in the hands of the VO in charge of your application. The letter cannot in any way influence the application outcome. We are writing so they could work on our application in due time with some fairness and objectivity

Your mail could have been more objective if you had not included (Applicants going for Master and PHd programs are receiving a biased and fair treatment compared to PGD/PGC applicants). You should have discuss your problems in its entirety as you can't judge someone else application. I believe each applicant's case is different. Only discuss your concerns in its entirety with detailed logical grounds before concluding.
Bro it is not an individual observation or about one applicant's case only. We ought to have one voice here . If we all make a complaint based on our individual cases, I guess it will not add up or hold water to the Immigration Minister. We are bringing to his notice a general observation. Thank you.

URGENT Good morning sir, my name is Ade from Nigeria. I would like to call your attention towards the high rate of denial of post graduate diploma (PGD) and post graduate certificate(PGC) applicants applying from Nigeria. From my little investigation and findings applicants going for Master and PHd programs are receiving a biased and fair treatment compared to PGD/PGC applicants. Also from my findings I noticed that some PGD/PGC applications that are very credible are being deinied after 17-18 week (which is way after the stated period on CIC website for Nigerian applicants) of subimission whereas masters program applicants are been approved within 6-7 weeks. I see this treatment as biased and unfair because level of a program should not determine if an applicants application should be denied and come to think of it we all pay the same application fee so we deserve to be treated fairly and equally as long as we meet the various visa requirements. The applications from Nigeria are being treated in Ghana, I would be glad and thankful if you can call the visa officers in Ghana to order to treat all applications fairly. thank you sir, help us live the Canadian dream the Candian way.
Thanks for the inspiration. I will follow suit. This biased system has to stop. There should be a level playing field. That's why it is called a study permit and not a Pgd or MSc permit. Thank God for nairaland

Hello people,

I've been to the united states twice and NEVER over stayed. But unfortunately, my visa got cancelled after my last return trip to Nigeria all because I assisted someone (its a long sorry story). Anyway, I have an admission to a canadian institution now, I want to ask if I should include that I have been to the US, to form travel history. Though I have the cancelled Visa on my old and expired passport, as I have a new one already. Or I should just not mention it in my application. Also, is there anyway the canadian embassy can verify if the visa has been cancelled if I just present the scanned copy I had before cancellation.

Just curious. Thanks.
Yes they can. There is a part they ask if one has been denied visa or entry into another country or Canada. I think Canadian embassy has an agreement with the US in the area of disclosing information about an applicant.

Case Specific Enquiry. However, it is a medium in which you direct questions peculiar to your application via their CIC website. You can only use it when logged on to their site

I just want us to be rational here. I just figured out shekau still exists in the North East and he is still trying to carry out fresh attacks. I hope the aerial attack will be carried out in the Niger Delta Creek and the North East as well. It is a pity we do not understand the difference between terrorism and militancy in our present government.
