Our governor once launched the Imo Security Network and doled out 100 Police Patrol Vehicles to the so called Nigerian Police in the state. I am of the view that if only the Governor and the police can do their work, then this whole thing will be a thing of the past. If only these security teams will be stationed each at the major junctions in the state for vigilance, rather than their use for their wives house hold errands, then this mess will be curtailed. Despite the fact that Nkeiru is Gov Rochas prefered and revered misteress, it does not justify the idea of kidnapping the 'sweet' lady. Well, I hope the talkative Governor has realized that the state is really going down in almost all segments; fake free education while indirectly extorting trice as much money from the unsuspecting students of the state owned institutions, abandoned projects, filthy streets, poor and substandard construction, unrealistic and illegitimate 4th Tier Govt, self privatized parastatals with the governor making all the possible money in the state to himself, unkept promises including that of N20K Minimum wage - (actually paying less than N15K), undertaking flimsy projects and wastage of state resources. And now, the kidnapping of poor Nkeiru, after the Gov has assured that the state is well secured. Please let nothing happen to our dear Ble-ble ohh!!! May God help Imo State out of the present sorry state of the more you look, the less you see; and the Gov to realize his grave mistakes and redirect his steps b4 it is too late. |

Free Education indeed. It's very unfortunate that this clown of a governor is still able to deceive some shallow minded and illiterate Imolites with this free education of a thing. Fact remains that 'Free Education' is not possible in Imo State, at least with the present economic situation. My cousins just paid N70,000.00 each as Acceptance fee to Imo State university and the governor, as indigenes, still under "Free Education', whereas throughout the last regime, the main Tuition fee was N30,000.00. Prof. B.E.B. Nwoke has just been fired by Rochas, simply because he was opposed to his idea of granting 80% of the university intake to the declared Tuition paying non-indegenes and 20% to the indigenes. He has just instituted another fee called Ancillary fee in Imo State university for all students. If people are forced to pay money in support of the so called free education, then is the education free? Which means that someone somewhere is being forced to pay. At Imo State Polytechnic, a large number of academic and non-academic staff have been forcefully retrenched, all in a bid to fund free education. The same thing is about happening in Imo State University and B.E.B. disagreed with the governor. The governor again is selling himself to the media while the state is going down. Economic activities here are on the decline yet, there are some noise about achievements. Peoples' vehicle are being carried away with a fine of N25,000.00 and above all in the name of free education. Owerri is now amongst the dirtiest cities in Nigeria, still people are being forced to pay N6,000.00 each as fumigation fee, service which of-course was not delivered. They are forcing people to buy small refuse bins at N2500.00 each even if one has the same refuse bin already, all in the name of free education. There are now so much more task-forces extorting money from Imolites for the government, all in the name of looking for money to fund "Free Education" The governor now temporarily owns Concorde Hotel, Imo Transport Company, as well as ADAPALM, all through his proxies. He can use the money he makes from these institution alone to fund his "Free Education", rather than deceiving himself, thinking that he was succeeding in deceiving the people. I am so sure that, if the governor had gone through a university degree programme, he would have for real known how impossible his proposed ideas are, and this would have saved him the very mess of "Free Education" he is now. Let him run the state as a state and stop this crazy greed for money. He has just succeeded in deceiving and shortchanging Imolites in less than two years, and sooner or later, he may not be able to contain the suffering and hunger he has so subjected the state to, while only him, his family, proxies, girlfriends and families are the very ones enjoying the money of the state. Let him denounce his so called 'Free Education"' so that we can have peace in Imo State, as this is not working, period. Furthermore, let him stop wasting our scarce resources on constructing the poor quality roads he is doing. The Inner and outer ring roads remain the two most important roads in the state capital; why must the governor abandon these roads if he truly means well for the state? We are all watching him, and if he does not take time and reverse his cruel approach to governance, he will definitely face the same situation faced by his predecessor. He still needs to demolish all the over 300 sub-standard gates in the state capital territory which he is now denying knowledge of, despite his earlier claims to them, all because people are criticizing the idea. We are all watching, and some people "still dey laugh" |
I feel so bad when Imolites whom we aclaim are the most educated in the country seem to be the most myopic in reasoning. I suppose the very best way we can help our Governor whom we voted into office is to praise him for whatever he has done right, and criticize him as well for whatever thing he does wrong so that he can redirect his steps. Why would someone mention 10,000 jobs when creation of jobs by the present gov is being mentioned? For the avoidance of doubts, the governor did so wrong in sacking the 10,000 workers, simply because they were employed by his predecessor and opponent. Fact remains that, the programme followed a well advertised and coordinated employment sequence, starting with the screening of the civil service staff to eliminate ghost workers and create more avenues, to engagement of KPMG Consultants to conduct the employment tests, and the subsequent interviewing of the candidates that scored 40% and above by the civil service commission and their team. The first batch (Admin Officers) were recruited in October 2010, followed by the Agricultural personnel in December/January; the third batch were in Match/ April, etc. All these were stipulated and announced in the media right from the beginning of the exercise. Rochas came on board only to sack all these workers on the grounds that their were no vacancies anywhere. But fact remains that on weekly basis, people are being secretly employed in the state civil service as well as the teaching staff. I came across some women testifying how they were recently employed by Owelle's government into the civil service as well as the teaching staff of the state. I saw the happiness that covered their faces. What came to mind was a question I threw to them and I said, 'how would you feel if this your job is taken away from you and given to someone else? Secondly, when people say ADAPALM was sold by Rochas to himself, we should try to understand what is happening before we start defending the governor. If the gov wanted to hand over the company to private partners, there was no problem with that. But the problem here was that, unlike the past administrations, there was no announcement to that effect before the concession. Due process was never followed in the exercise. Other better qualified companies were not given a chance to bid for the project. The Governor simply traveled abroad and arranged with this group in a deal that favours him and the company alone, then came back home and effected the handover without due consultation. One can always swear that the Governor has a good percentage in the whole thing as being accused. Besides, how can one hand over all major government projects to only one company when there are so many better qualified companies withing and outside Nigeria? What is good for the goose is as well good for the gander. While the Governor, his family, girl friends and associates are eating and enjoying the state resources and money, he should learn to extend this gesture to the rest of Imolites by awarding contracts to other companies and paying contractors, not just those that are close to him and his family. The same thing happened at ITC and Imo Concorde Hotel whom we know the Governor handed over to his proxys who now run the businesses for him, having presumably paid N250M and N500M to the state government respectively. To a clear mind, this is fraud and someday, the Governor and those behind this defrauding of Imolites will account for all these. One cannot deceive the masses forever. But I strongly believe that if the Governor can dampen his craze for money, land and wealth in the state a little bit, he still has little time to retrace his steps and make amends as we want him to succeed. This is because, if Owelle succeeds in governance, Imo state succeeds as a state and we all succeed as well. Let's call a spade a spade, the governor has done far below expectation since the past One and half years. But he still has time to change and should do so without wasting more time for his own good and that of the state. We are praying for him seriously because we voted him in. But he should remove pride and arrogance and accept constructive criticisms. God bless Imo State. |
Why are u guys talking about who occupies Aso Rock Villa in 2015 as if it is a subject of debate here. The Ibos have given in so much and sacrificed so much for the unity of Nigeria. The rest of the country should respect these great people by zoning the presidency to the South East |
It is simple, Let us divide this country and 'to your tent Ohh Israel'. All these are schemes aimed at rubbishing the image of Mr President, so as not to nominate him for a second tenure. Second tenure is what he deserves, he earned it and as such, he must surely contest. Let us learn to respect our leaders whom we so elected and stop these propaganda. If the evil Northerners and their agents cannot allow GEJ peace in governance, we shall collaborate with the good Northerners and forge ahead. At the worst, we divide this country along these lines. So shall it be in Jesus Name, Amen. |
Let's divide this country, simple. I can't understand why a group of mostly illiterate fools keep fermenting trouble, simply because a christian and Southerner won an election to lead this country. Why didn't Boko Haram,Buhari and the North start these troubles all these while that the North was ruling Nigeria. I still insist; this country should be divided along these line. Simple. |
It looks pretty much that all that GEJ were threatened with are happening now. It's high time we split this country. Since these Aboki/Almajiris in Agbada cannot be tamed, cannot do anything except that, as directed by their brutal and inhuman Islamic beliefs, I submit that we divide this country now. No one is born to rule others. All these are happening because GEJ won an election and because Buhari, Babangida, Atiku and El-rufai all lost. Instead of Buhari leading this country again, Nigeria would rather disintegrate and 'to your tent Ohh Israel'. This is our stand. |
It is quite unfortunate that despite maintaining persistent lead in university intake, Imolites tend to be myopic in thinking when it comes to politics. I feel so sad that each time someone mentions anything our dear governor is not doing right, some stupid fools take the criticism as political. The best way to assist a leader is to let him know where he fails and commend him for what he does right. What sort of money does Rochas have to warrant such insensitive show of stupidity and waste. We voted him, but I am sure that most of us have regretted this, though may not be open to admitting such. He should not be reminded how much he was owing the banks before the elections, which ofcourse he has paid already. If I am Rochas, I would rather start to redirect my steps, shun greed and intimidation, to win the people back. He has done so much bad than good in less than two years; 1) Handing over Imo Concord Hotel, Imo Transport Company as well as ADAPALM to his proxys, thereby making them his private businesses without following due process 2) Awarding contracts to mediocres most of whom are non qualified and illitrate but are his allies. 3) Opening up so much roads in-order to justify the usage of the money (N36.4B) he inherited in bonds from Ohakim, with no road having technical design or meeting any local or international standard. 4) Flamboyant sharing of unaccounted cash to primary and secondary school kids, most of whom their parents would never wish to handle cash, and most of whom are not well paid. 5) Intimidating the people of Owerri Municipal who incidentally gave him over 90 percent of their votes over his proposed Hotel at Area K World Bank Layout, by openly threatening to share the land to whomsoever he desires with C of O's, and support same with government backing in the court, if the people refuse him usage of the land for his hotel. 6) Forcefully moving Imo State University permanent site from Mbaise/Ngor-Okpalla to his personal university site at his village, and using state fund to build so many structures there under criticism by the entire state, and thereafter moving the university back and reclaiming the built structures to himself. 7) Making a mess of our House of Assembly, who are now his boys and rubber stamps by consistently sharing money to them and giving them executive contracts. Making a mess of our constitution by sacking elected local governments, and not obeying court orders to reinstate them, thereby grounding the local government system in the state.9) Making a joker of our constitution by forming an unpopular 4th Tier government in a three Tier Constitution, squandering so much money in this futile programme, and causing so much conflicts in the local governments. 10) Abandoning all the quality projects initiated by his predecessor Ikedi Ohakim. These include, the New Government House project and all the adjoining roads, the inner and outer ring roads which include the Flyovers, and which could have taken care of the traffic situations in the state capital, the cleanliness programme, sacking of the 10,000 Imo workers employed by Ohakim and gradually replacing same with his own new employees, the industrialization programme which he now replaces with his Hotels and parks most of which he condemned as places where our little girls are abused. 11) Imo Broadcasting Corporation is presently forcefully prohibited from reporting any local government news, as the Governor is not fully in charge of the LGA's. 12) Owerri is now named 'City of Gates'. 13) Rochas has demolished all the roundabouts in Owerri and rebuilding them. This is a waste of public funds, moreso when some of these roundabouts were barely 2years old and built by Julius Berger during the Ohakim's regime. 14) Government is supposed to be a continuous process; while would Rochas be systematically deleting all the good projects executed by Ohakim? 15) Sixty Imo State Youth were sent to the USA by Rochas for further studies in science and engineering at the University of Maryland with allowances of $7,000 each as announced by the government, with no mention of whom these people are, where they came from, and the modality for selecting them. 16) How would a state government award contracts to contractors and not mobilize them financially, (except those who are close to the governor, his wives and girlfriends, and inner allies), and expect to have good projects. 17) Why announcing a minimum wage of N20,000.00, when in actual sense Rochas in paying less than N15,000.00 by the previous labour standard? This is fraud. 18) Why would the governor think he could deceive Imolites and Nigerians, by claiming to have slashed his security vote from N6.5B to N2.5B while the former governor was not paid security vote of up to N2.5B? 19) Why the excess number of political assistants that warrants wasteful spending of public funds, this of which the governor condemned during the campaigns? 20) Why is the Governor systematically making a mess of all government institutions and running most of them far below normal capacity. 21) What happens to the Imo Water Board, why is the water no longer running, and why are the infrastructures decaying? 22) Imo is experiencing more activities, low productivity and that is exactly Rochas's plan to enrich himself the more. 23) Why the fraud in the unrealistic free university education? 24) Why forcefully sacking some academic and non-academic staff at the IMOPOLY? 25) And now, why this BIRTHDAY BASH!!! that grounded all activities in the state, all with state funds? Rochas should learn to pick projects and complete them, one at a time. Otherwise, he must someday account for all the wasteful spending on projects, over ninety percent of which were awarded to his family and allies, with no plans to complete them. He is already the governor, and no one is fighting him. So he should settle down and do the job he came to do if any, and unite Imolites. |

Hello,How much is this and what's the condition of the AC? |
The very mistake was done in bringing North and South together in the first place. We are two different people, different ideology, beliefs, cranial configurations, capabilities, etc. I wonder why the so called Muslim extremists in the North would never be grateful to God for bringing them together with the Southerners that they learn from. He who knows not, and does not know that he knows not, is a fool. Religion should not be merged with politics. When people are ignorantly incapacitated, they hide under the guise of Islam and brutal inhumane Islamic laws to perpetrate mayhem. The best thing for us now is to peacefully divide this country into two (North and South, as the Southerners have no problem in living together) or three (North, East and West) with the rebirth of Oduduwa Republic, Biafra Republic and the Arewa federation. This is the only way. |

I so much like our governor Owelle Rochas, but I strongly disagree with him in this idea of IMSU relocation. There has been a permanent site of this university at somewhere between Ngor-Okpalla and Mbaise. The lake Nwaebele campus was just a temporary arrangement to start up the university at the creation of Abia State. It will be unfair for the governor to move this university to his village instead of starting up construction of the university at Ngr-Okpalla - Mbaise. So let us stop this sectarian politics that the Gov and Orlu zone are trying to introduce us to and work together as Imolites. Secondly, whoever said that Owerri Capital is congested must be strongly mistaken. Why the clamor for Owerri Municipal? Is Owerri Municipal the only territory in the Owerri Capital Territory? For clarity, the Capital territory extends to; somewhere after Obinze along Port Harcourt road, somewhere at the Okitankwu bridge after Orji along Okigwe road, somewhere at Azaraegbelu before Mbaise along Mbaise road, somewhere after Agbala before Ngor-Okpalla along Aba road, and somewhere before Nworieubi along Orlu road. There are still so much (over 80%) undeveloped areas withing the capital territory. The governor still has so much areas to build his so much cherished Monumental Hotels and others so that these other areas can develop as well. Owerri North, Owerri West, Mbaise, Ngor-Okpalla, Ikeduru, all these areas are begging for development and roads. As for the university, it will be a big mistake to attempt to move the university to Okpoko or elsewhere. Instead, the Gov should start-up the construction of the permanent site and finish it. Then he can start other campuses of the university as planned originally. I also suggest that the Governor should learn to consult the relevant stakeholders in the state before taking decisions on critical issues, to avoid the recent embarrassments we are facing over some of his erroneous decision, vis a vis, IMSU relocation, Sack of elected local governments, handing over of Concord Hotel, ITC and ADAPALM to his desired agents, 4th Tier government, indiscriminate award of contracts, appointment of incompetent people to portfolios, destruction and reconstruction of roundabouts and walkways, etc. But in actual fact, I am so much happy that the Governor has the mind to structurally transform Imo State in the first place and I so much commend him for that. He has demonstrated that he means business and is ready to achieve. While we debate, we should not fail to continue praying for our amiable Governor not to lose focus. God will help us. |

I do not believe that ROCHAS or whatever, knows what he is into. Governance is never a child's play. He should have remained in his so called 'philantropist' status, rather than deceiving the ignorant electorate that took him for whom he's not. Very soon, Imolites will realise we've made one of our greatest mistakes in electing such a man. You do not talk too much about governance when you've never governed before; now that he's on that seat, it becomes clear that he doesn't know what actually to do or better still, how to go about it. This is his dilenma. |
Pls I am also looking for a 1993 Fully automatic Mercedes V-Boot with full options and factory AC. Direct Tokumbo or Very clean Nigerian use. Send the info to my mail box, or call 08037092288. |

Is she his GF or sis? This is crazy. He once boasted during campaigns that Ohakim's cabinet was over-populated and therefore wasteful. What's happening now. It is crystal clear and I strongly believe that there's always a difference between being rich, and having the ability to lead. ROCHAS may have the so called little money, but I believe he's a novice in leadership. There's still enough room for him to learn, and we simply hope it'll not be late for an average expectant Imolite. LEADERS are born and not made. God save us. |
Making a mess of our constitution by sacking elected local governments, and not obeying court orders to reinstate them, thereby grounding the local government system in the state.
