okiezman:Use your brain for once. I even put it in my OP that "I don't give a damn (in GEJ's voice) about any of the candidates." |
moststylish:Hassana Hassan is a regitered nurse and 'Nursing Cert and Midwifery' is her highest educational qualification, which coincidentally reveals her discipline. INEC did not put her discipline there because they wanted to. It would have been impossible for INEC to write just 'Certificate' as her qualification. 'Nursing Cert and Midwifery' as used by INEC in the list is not different from Cisco's CCNA, which is just a qualification but also reveals your discipline. |
When INEC published the list of presidential aspirants, many people focused on Buhari and his education (or lack thereof) but something else caught my attention: Why did INEC include Jonathan and Sambo's discipline and did not do the same for other aspirants? Jonathan is just one among the five aspirants with Ph. D. degrees and Sambo is one of the two aspirants with M. Sc. degrees. Not that a Ph. D. in Zoology gives Jonathan any advantage nor will a M.Sc. in Architecture by Sambo give their ticket an edge, INEC must realise that all candidates are contesting as equals. All candidates should be treated the same way. I am not sure if there is any law that says INEC should publish the displines of only the sitting president and his vice. One possible excuse by INEC would be that only Jonathan and Sambo filled in their disciplines in the INEC form, which doesn't sound very plausible to me. Out of the 28 aspirants (president and vice president), 19 have a Bachelors degree and above. So, it doesn't sound plausible that the remaining 17 aspirants did not fill in their disciplines. When I was the electoral chairman in my university, I was made to understand that you must use the same font type, font size and color for the name of all aspirants, so as not to be accused of being partial. INEC must realize that it must not only be impartial, it must always show impartiality in everything at all times. INEC made the same mistake again by putting in bold the names of the vice presidential candidates of APA and CPP, even though they are not the only females on the list. Their names warrant no bold font unless INEC does the same for all female aspirants. You only make bold what you want to call attention to. INEC should get its acts right. NB: I don't give a damn (in GEJ's voice) about any of the candidates. List available here: http://www.inecnigeria.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/2015-PRESIDENTIAL-LIST-FINAL-13.05.151.xlsx

How come I didn't get the mail? I even logged into my account and I can't find anything relating to a Bank withdrawal. Payoneer don dey do partiality ooo. |
2sExy1:Ok. I was just searching for the names of people I know on Skype and I saw your account. Abeg, I won't mind being on the same line with you oo. Make I dey follow you for back on that line. |
2sExy1:Did you BO the name? I can see Pheenix caught the name though I placed my BO at another platform. |
yuzjet:Don't be deceived bro. Ask yourself why she is placing one of her legs in front of the other leg in all the three pictures posted. I almost fell for it too. With her legs beside each other, her curves is no big deal. |
OkayimPaul: A mix of the following:I did the exam in November. I can expatiate if you want me to. |
DoroMega:Wish you the same bro. Wishing all Nairaland domainers a Merry Christmas and a sales-filled 2015. |
2sExy1:I read the thread of that NPer too. Those Nigerians that are paying good money for domains are most likely organizations, who can write off the amount as business expenses. Even at that, I will never buy a name ending in 'NGR' or 'NG' because it limits me severely, unless I want to use the name myself. So you think a Nigerian brother will pay $15,000 just to get his first name in the dot mobi extension? Mba! "Ola.mobi was purchased by Olamobile Cyprus Limited whose website is at olamobile.com." - TheDomains |
okeyjames:Please can you list the practice/service areas according to the number of trainees KPMG recruit into them? I have interest in up to four service areas and I want to choose the two where my chances will be maximized. The four are: MC, FRM, Tax, and Audit (in order of preference). Thank you. |
EMERITUS85:You started the small discussion I had with @madridfc My advice: Don't hoodwink yourself to a particular country, especially a 'poor' country for that matter. Let your domains be as location-neutral as possible. Apart from Vanguard, I am not sure there is another popular Nigerian website ending in 'NGR'. Most people end their domains with 'NG'. NG seems a more natural choice because the ccTLD for Nigeria is .NG E.g. SkyeBankNG.com, UnionBankNG.com, SterlingBankNG.com, InterswitchNG.com, etc. Why did they used NG instead of NGR? You should get my point now. The only reason why Vanguard is doing well with that obviously poor choice of using 'NGR' is because they print that website (VanguardNGR.com) on over 200,000 copies of newspapers everyday and that has built it into people's consciousness. |
madridfc:Care to share the name? Lagos APC? N50k was even around $300 then. Anyway, I said a 'Nigerian individual', not an organization. Like a guy want to start a nutrition blog and buy NutritionBlog.com. Our guy here will rather handreg 'WhatYouNeedToKnowAboutYourNutrition .com'. Even for organizations, it is still a tall order.I'll rather invest in names that can be bought by anybody in the world and not restrict myself to a particular country. |
Ali01:Economic activities, most times, mirror the prosperity of the countries where the participants come from. Why do you think there are more Chinese buyers now? China is the world largest economy, according to IMF's PPP-Adjusted GDP in 2014. China is prosperous and its citizens can afford to buy domain names. I'm not sure a Nigerian individual will shell out $5k for a domain. They will simply add something like 'NG' at the end and buy the dot com for $1.99. |
EMERITUS85:Never buy a domain to sell to a Nigerian. Never! For your own use, good. To resell, mba! |
100ksalescom:Yes, if it is less than $20. You will find many random LLLLs closing for less than $20 on GoDaddy Auctions. You can also find random LLLLs for less than $20 at Namepros auctions. If you are paying more than $20, the letters better be good. |
Sterling Bank has caught the 'Immigration test' virus. A friend called it 'Online stampede.' Next time, they should outsource their test to competent organizations like Dragnet. |
Chibenze: 2sExy1:Why will I vex? Like 2Sexy just said, you don't have any responsibility to report any name you sold to anybody. @2Sexy You don't even have to report your sale partially, feel free not to report it at all. If I want to read about recent sales, there are enough of them on NamePros. My point is: 'On the verge', '$XX,XX sale loading', and similar comments help nobody on Nairaland, especially the new beginners. If you want to report your sale, do. If you don't, fine. |
SirChotas:The question is ask myself when registering domains is: 'Who will use this name and how?' If you can answer that question in the affirmative, you have solved 50 percent of the 'should I buy it' problem. The next question is: how often do people start this business or how large is the market? If you own LogoDesign dot com, the market is so large because anyone can become a logo designer after few hours of practice. If you own NuclearScientist dot com, the market is too small because nuclear scientists in the world are so few that you can count them. Both names are good, but the former has a larger market. Run all the names you want to buy through this two questions and you'll know what to reg. |
2sExy1:Since ACH is only available in the US, I believe that any platform where you select Nigeria as your country and they still give you the option of Direct Deposit/Wire Transfer means they need your dorm account not ACH. If you have a Payoneer account, you can even get an ACH. |
morett: BJ4REEL:GoDaddy used to allow Paypal for Nigerians before. I don't know why they removed it. The picture I attached below is for one of the payee accounts I created sometimes last year and I still use it up till now. This is how the "Add Payee" feature looked before.
|
2sExy1:A link will not work because you have to login to your account to see it. Go to My Account > Settings > Payee Accounts > Add Payee > (1) Fill the details > (2) Select Wire Transfer You can put your dorm account and use that payee account when listing your domain for sale. |
Let's not forget we are talking about first class graduates here. Not even everyone that applied was selected; meaning those selected students are the best of the best. I am not expecting less from them. |
morett:No, you get paid through Paypal or domiciliary account. Only refunds can be credited back to your credit card. |
2sExy1:What makes you think he is a Nairalander? |
Jayde01:A mix of the following: 1. Pattern: "What number is next in the following series - ...." 2. Sentence Correction 3. Current Affairs: "What's the name of the youngest Nobel prize winner?" 4. GMAT Maths 5. Synonyms and Antonyms 50 questions with options A-E in 60 minutes. Fair enough. |
Successdude:Well, if you asked this question at the beginning of this year, I would have said 'register the .net'. Right now, the new gTLDs are changing the namespace dynamics and .net already has a lot of competitors. Right now, it's either the king (.com) or none for me. If you are very confident that the term will catch on and become a category killer like you said, I'll advise you to choose .net. .net will sell easily before .co, given that both names are the same. |
guente02:Mehn, do I look like a dinosaur? 1. Go to adwords.google.com 2. After signing in with your Gmail account, click on 'Tools' then 'Keyword Planner.' 3. Click on 'get search volume.......' It's the second item on the list 4. Enter the word and get the search volume. |
madridfc:Do people really say "I want to buy precious stones"? I'm sure they just say 'gold' or 'diamond.' The search volume for 'gold' is close to 100 times the search volume of 'precious stones' while 'diamonds' is over 10 times in search volume. I agree with your appraisal sha. |
DoroMega:Yes, one word .co and two words category killer like WebDesign dot co. Apart from these, a few 3L .co will sell. Anything outside of all these is a no-no. The only play available to you is 3L or future trend. Some of the future trends of today may become category killers of tomorrow. So those who pick them up in .co get rewarded, even though not as much as .com. |
DaBullIT:I just visited too and the page title is still "HACKED BY NIGERIA CYBER ARMY - Nigerian News from Leadership Newspapers." This news item (Minister Urges Persons With Disabilities To Harness The Poower Of Technology) still displays the screenshot I posted earlier. |

.com'. Even for organizations, it is still a tall order.
