Now that the presidential candidates and their VPs are known, with Tinubu opting for Muslim-Muslim ticket, let the political permutations and calculations begin. |

God bless the OP for his insights. Only the liberal- minded would agree with the unquestionable facts stated therein. Wike and his cohorts have only shown how greedy and self centered they are but would end up biting their own fingers. Atiku will win the 2023 presidential election. |

Politics / Southeast And The Easiest Path To The Presidency by OLADD: 2:51pm On Jul 02, 2022 |
Having been shut out by the two dominant parties; the APC and PDP in choosing presidential candidates for the 2023 elections, people from the Southeastern part of the country need to sit at round table and carefully decipher the best possible options available in a bid to clinch the presidency in the next political dispensation. Here are the possible options; 1. Reach a written agreement with PDP to have power micro zoned to the Southeast after the Northeast where Atiku hails from, would have completed their tenure. Remember that only two regions, the Northeast and Southeast are yet to produce the president in the country. 2. Put all their eggs in a basket and pitch their tents with Peter Obi and Kwankwasso's Labour Party/NNPP hoping the alliance and current frenzy for a third force would catapult the combo to the presidency in 2023. This option despite looking enticing , does not seem to guarantee cosy route to the presidency in view of the volatility of the Nigerian political terrain. 3. The idea of voting for APC is completely out of the equation. If APC (with a candidate from the Southwest) wins the next election, it means Southeast would wait until 2039 to push for the presidency since power will automatically rotate back to the North after APC's 8-year tenure. Looking at the scenarios above, OPTION 1 seems the most reasonable for Southeasters to have easy access to the presidency. Though, the region is still in pain for not been considered for the VP slot, working for the victory of PDP in the next election is the surest best bet to produce president in the nearest future. loswhite: Thanks for the insults. I was only trying to whip people like you into line by pointing to the realities on ground. You can't expect the South to rule for 16 years post military and expect the North not to do same. Besides, if the South is considered for Presidency after Buhari, then it must be the SOUTHEAST AND NOT SOUTHWEST. If the Southeast can't get it, then it mustn't be southwest. Simple. Allow your conscience to dictate and rule your actions. Ok! |

emmykk: Those governors you mentioned are aggrieved for either not been picked as VP running mate or having their preferred candidates ignored by Atiku. Let me assure you that they would all eventually fall in line and work for Atiku. They can't afford to pitch their tents with the oppositions. As for OBI and Kwakwasso alliance, it's DOA. Kwankwasso can't subsume his NNPP into LP and become a VP to OBI and vice versa. Either ways, even if the alliance sails through, it can't win the presidency in 2023. This is a fact! 1 Like |

Junks coming from Orji Kalu's partial news tabloid. Assuming these ascertions hold waters, northern APC governors would also work secretely to ensure emergence of their own (ATIKU) as president. It will be tit for tat. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Hotfreezer: How is Okowa the worst person as VP candidate? Politics is not about noise and brigandage but meticulous calculations and sound negotiations. Obaseki and co are pained because Atiku didn't look in their direction when choosing his running mate. Do you know how Wike disparaged the same Obaseki when he was campaigning for the PDP ticket? Wike and his South south cohort's will be the loosers eventually. |
Politics / Re: Wike Shuns Atiku’s Emissary In Turkey by OLADD: 11:52pm On Jul 01, 2022 |
ChrisP92: My brother, this is likely to snowball into a North vs South scenario. When the chips are down, the entire north would vote as a bloc, just mark it down. The moment it's evident Wike is playing tribal card, the Tambuwal game would come into play and Wike will still be the looser. With Okowa's factor, Southern govs would team up with Atiku and Wike may become the proverbial orphan. |
Politics / Re: Wike Shuns Atiku’s Emissary In Turkey by OLADD: 11:39pm On Jul 01, 2022 |
Righthussle: Out of the PDP's 16-year reign, the north only ruled for 2 years with Ya'adua. If you add Buhari's tenure the north would have only been in power for 10 years. It's still a far cry from the South's share. Let's be sincere and jettison parochialism. 1 Like 2 Shares |

richiemcgold: I am a Yoruba man but I can tell you that any such attempt by the trio will burn their fingers very badly. No Southern candidate from PDP can win the 2023 elections and if they choose to team up with the opposition the three of them would end up been disgraced. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Parachoko: With Wike in 2019, PDP/ATIKU only scored roughly above 473000 votes. Wike is overrated and he knows it. While I want him to be in Atiku's camp, he should do his worst if he refuses to be pacified. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

LeoDeKing: Quote me. Atiku's train can never be derailed. Wike is only flexing mussle but he would be tamed in the long run, the same way his bobble was busted and outsmarted in the convention. He either keys into Atiku's project or becomes an orphan in Nigerian politics. Those backing him would pull him down eventually. Atiku WILL win next year election. 3 Likes 5 Shares |

JBriel: Stop this nonsense. In as much as PDP needs to approach the next elections as a unified entity, whoever wants to leave after all entreaties should do their worst. Atiku has all it takes to win next election with or without WiKe. Nobody is bigger than PDP. Wike is not God. 5 Likes 9 Shares |

It's on record that Nigerians had to wait for a period of six (6) months after the inauguration of APC government in 2015 before the President could unveil his Cabinet of Ministers, a misdemeanor that slowed down pace of governance. Fast toward to 2022 with the same government winning down on its stewardship, it took the intervention of the electoral umpire, INEC to safe the governing party from the blush of failing to meet the deadline for the conduct of its primary by infamously shifting the deadline from the initial date. Characteristically, less that 24 hours to another deadline for the submission of political parties' Vice Presidential Candidates, APC is yet to comply with same. Curiously, the ruling party waited endlessly for the main opposition party, the PDP, to unveil its Presidential candidate before summoning courage to hold its own convention. In other democracies of the world, it's the ruling party that sets the pace while the opposition follows suit. Ironically, a partly that clinched power on the mantra of change is now the one chasing clouts. It might be safe to conclude that another 8 years of APC in the saddle of power will arguably be characterised by these syndromes of indecisiveness and foot dragging. This will definitely not augur well for a nation that's already on the edge of political and economic doldrums. |
