We all know Buhari is unfit to be called a president medically
He has nothing to offer to Nigeria or Nigerians
He promised to stop foreign medical trips for government during campaign
One wonders where he buried his intergrity
Buhari is a certified fraud , a living failure that will consume this unholy entity called a country...

The integrity claim has always been a hoax.

The Foundation for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Crusade, FHRACC, has calld on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare his health status, as well as the amount he spent to treat himself in the United Kingdom otherwise they will take some necessary legal steps to compel it to do the right thing.

FHRACC National President, Alaowei Ebikonbowei handed down the threat in a statement on Saturday.

“The Government cannot be flouting the relevant provisions of the laws of the land, especially the Freedom of Information Act and the 1999 Constitution. We are calling on the Government to do what is right in the eyes of the law, otherwise we may take some necessary legal steps to compel it to do the right thing.

“President Buhari sworn an oath to protect the laws of the land and not to breach them with impunity. It’s for public good, public safety and public morality that Mr President informs Nigerians of the details of his health and how much he has spent to treat himself. This is the demonstration of the Government’s sincerity in upholding its much chorused “Change Must Begin With Me”, a new national orientation that it has introduced to Nigerians”, he said.

Politics / Fayose Gradually Reviving Ekiti's Lost Glories In Education-Emir Sanusi by OLADD: 12:00pm On Apr 02, 2017
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, yesterday lauded Governor Ayodele Fayose for setting Ekiti on a solid rock in the education sector.

He said the governor was gradually reenacting efforts that will bring back the old glory when the state took the lead in education.

Sanusi, who was represented by former Governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, also commended Governor Fayose and the Vice Chancellor of the tate Ekiti university, Prof Samuel Oye Bandele for being detribalized in nature and for his vision in making the university a beacon to others in the country.

Sanusi, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, said this in Ado Ekiti while being conferred with honourary degree in finance by Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

Others, who bagged similar academic laurel included: Governors of Gombe, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Oyo, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu.

The Emir of Kano expressed gratitude to the university for finding him and other awardees worthy of being bestowed with the academic titles.

“This is indeed a great honour to us and it will remain in history. I am one of the happiest in this room looking at the enviable records reeled out by Governor Fayose being the achievements Ekiti recorded under his leadership.

“I have seen the remarkable achievements Fayose is making in Ekiti and the affection he has for his people. I want to congratulate you. And I want to tell you that the Emir is Kano’s Ambassador in Ekiti varsity and I know that he will be willing to be of help to this university”, he said.

‎Speaking, Fayose said education remained the best legacy and thriving industry to every Ekiti man, saying his government would do everything humanly possible to preserve and maintain the status the state has achieved in the sector.

Fayose promised that his government “will continue to pamper our teachers, because when the foundation is strong, then the university level cannot be taken for granted.‎”

“Ekiti is a State that can supply 10 professors per family. This underscores the level of priority we place on education and we will keep our identity as the Fountain of Knowledge and this can only reflect if we take the lead in the sector”, he said.

Politics / Disclose Your Health Status, Medic Bill Or Face Legal Action, Group Dares Buhari by OLADD: 11:23am On Apr 02, 2017
The Foundation for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Crusade, FHRACC, has threatened to institute legal action against President Muhammadu Buhari if he fails to declare his health status, as well as the amount he spent to treat himself in the United Kingdom.

FHRACC National President, Alaowei Ebikonbowei handed down the threat in a statement on Saturday.

He stated that the refusal of the Government to disclose the money spent on the President’s health was the greatest disservice to Nigerians.

He stated that concealing such vital information from the public was “corruption” itself, noting that President Buhari was under obligation, both in law and under all known conventional practices to be accountable to the people who gave him their mandate.

“We believed that there is no security threat for Buhari to declare his health to Nigerians and or furnish us with the money he has spent on his health.

“Concealing such vital information from the prying public is to say the least corruption itself. If security should be an excuse from disclosing public money the Government has spent on public servants, then the law can also preclude public office holders from declaring their assets as required by the Code of Conduct Bureau Act.

“The Government cannot be flouting the relevant provisions of the laws of the land, especially the Freedom of Information Act and the 1999 Constitution.

We are calling on the Government to do what is right in the eyes of the law, otherwise we may take some necessary legal steps to compel it to do the right thing.

Irresponsible woman! Does Buhari still possess the political clout and presidential mein needed to go after the Senate? Buhari has since lost his prestige the moment he virtually begged to have Saraki visit him at the Villa guest more than 5 times before he went for medical vacation. He has virtually sold himself out as a weakling as far as the presidency is concerned and no amount of packaging by Lauretta can coverup the obvious. As it's now, any attempt to wield any stick against the Senate would lead to his impeachment and opprobrium. Presently, it's Buhari that needs the Senate and not the other way round.

Politics / Buhari's Government Has Worsened Nigeria's Economy-Soludo by OLADD: 5:56pm On Mar 02, 2017
Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, yesterday accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of worsening the state of Nigeria’s economy.

Soludo spoke in Enugu at an interactive forum, titled “Big Ideas Podium”, which was organized by the African Heritage Institution.

At the Forum chaired by a former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke, Soludo acknowledged that the current All Progressives Congress, APC, administration inherited a bad situation.

He was, however, quick to declare that the current administration had made the economy several times worst than it met it.

He said, “Nigeria is now, some say a fragile state, some say a failed state; it is not going to be a tea-party to come out but unfortunately, we are not taking it serious.

“Nigeria is not just in recession but in a massive economic compression; it will be a miracle for the present APC administration to return this country to the dollar size it met in May 29, 2015, if it stays for 8 years, that’s till 2023.

“It is business as usual; propaganda, lies, double-speak, current government is fighting corruption, insecurity, but we say to them, enough of the blame gain.

“They inherited a bad situation but they have made it several times worst; getting us out here is not a tea-party like I sad before.

Nigerians should rise in unity; it should no longer be ‘let them’; only united citizens can rescue Nigeria out of this position.

”The Ex-CBN boss, while stressing the need for what he called ‘Citizen United’, as a panacea to the present situation, urged the masses the take the government into account for all the promises made before the election.

“My idea is that of Citizen United; we won’t get the leadership that we deserve; we won’t get the leadership that we want; we will get the leadership that we demand.

“They gave us manifestoes, promised a lot and we said ‘yea’; how many have gone back to check how far them are implementing those promises; if any party implements 25 percent of its manifesto, Nigeria will get better.

“If you check any State run by APC, PDP or APGA, the three parties that have Governors, can you see spot any difference in any of those States that will distinguish one party from another, it is the same.

“APC said in its manifesto that it will restructure Nigeria, that Nigeria was not one, but after election, has anybody heard about it (restructuring) again?

They control 23 States and the National Assembly, all they need is one more State to get the required 2/3; so they have what it takes, but they are not talking about it again.

“If we don’t rise to hold them by the jugular, Nigeria cannot go anywhere. We have to start preparing for a post-oil economy; insanity is to repeat the same thing over and over again and expect different result”, he further stated.

Soludo, who also faulted the clamour for Igbo presidency described it as an “unnecessary distraction”, stressing that you could have the President and his Vice as well as all the ministers come from one village “but the life of all the people in the that village will not move from point A to point B.

While justifying his position, he recalled that during the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, several members of the economic team, including the finance minister, Deputy Senate President, Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps, SGF, all came from the South-East, “but not one motorable federal highway in Igbo land.

“We want a new Nigeria where it does not matter where the president comes from; we want to set a structure where each citizen will work hard, where security is guaranteed.

”He further used the event to lambast the Federal Government for unleashing security agencies on various protesters across the country, especially the pro-Biafra groups, insisting that they had every right under the Constitution to express their feelings.

According to him, “people have right under the Constitution to protest within the law; the duty of the police is to give the protesters protection. Killing innocent citizens simply because they expressed their feelings is wrong; no citizen of Nigeria should be killed for no just cause; we don’t condone violence, but government should protect its people; once you remove freedom of expression, democracy is gone.

”Other speakers at the event included Prof. Akpan Ekpo and Prof. Osita Ogbu, a former econmic adviser to then president Olusegun Obasanjo.

Earlier, Duke, who stated that corruption was not a problem peculiar to Nigeria, observed that “it is a bigger challenge for us because there are no consequences here; that’s why it is worst here.”

The govt gave licenses to 23 qualifying oil and gas investors to build modular refineries since early 2016, we haven't heard anything from those investors till date. I'm still not sure I understand how or why you are now blaming the govt for the decisions of our big oil magnate who prefer importation to building refineries.

If that is the case can we conveniently conclude that nothing has changed in terms of governance in Nigeria? Can we also infer that the only deference between PDP and APC is just the nomenclature? Past administrations also gave out licences to investors without fruition until APC bombed into the scene with the chant of change. Are you suggesting we should now treat the APC govt with kid gloves and exonerate them from the blame of failing to do due diligence and providing enabling environment before issuing the licences in the first place? Where's the coveted change? My friend, you'll have to work round the clock to defend the incompetence and naivety of this government.

Nigeria depends so so so much on imported goods so even at N1000 to a dollar, there would still be a mad rush for the dollar. Cmon man, we import virtually every drop of petrol and kero and diesel we use in this country. And unlike many other nations that need these products for just transportation, our power supply in Nigeria is over 70% dependent on these same products which we import.

You may say we are focused on the 'no alternative' rhetoric, but guess what?... it can never be overemphasised that we had no immediate alternatives. Even the so called bailout funds you highlighted as a possible solution wouldnt have been able to scratch the surface.

Again, regarding the bailout funds, while I agree with you that the funds could have been used for great things, do you really know the impact of 27 out of 36 states being unable to pay salaries in a nation like Nigeria where govt is the biggest employer of labour?

My man there's no justification whatsoever for the bailout to the governors. In fact, that singular decision signaled the beginning of Buhari's woes. The States suddenly saw themselves as toddlers who should be spoonfed instead of fending for themselves.Buhari should have stood his ground by asking the prodigal governors to account for their respective allocations in the last 2 years before been considered for bailouts, if necessary. With regards to oil import expenditure what happened to the modular refineries promised the nation 15 months ago? This govt doesn't deserve any pity.
Business / Re: Nigeria’s Economy Contracts 1.51% In 2016 by OLADD: 7:01pm On Mar 01, 2017
obailala:
Bro, I honestly feel tired, completely weakened having to explain some of these things to people like you because I know you are well enlightened, but you have simply chosen to act like you don't comprehend simply things all because of sentiments.

Yes, several policies of the admin aren't good, but it would make a lot of sense if we could just remain focused, put the unnecessary sentiments aside for just one moment and then address issues 'as they are' instead of how we want them to look. I am tired of having to sound like I am defending bad policies such as the maintenance of multiple exchange rates by the CBN/FG, the fact is that I am not. But for once like I said, put the sentiments aside and call a spade a spade.

A little background... Nigeria has an inordinate thirst for imported goods from basic petroleum products to the least of the items we eat; this means a high demand for forex. Nigeria gets over 90% of its forex from oil sales and with the oil crash, the primary source of our forex was cut by more than half. Like you said, GEJ left about $28.6bn specifically in the reserves as at May 2015 when he handed over. A question for you is, do you know how much was in that reserve 6 months before that handover date?... There was about $38.6 billion in the reserves but it crashed rapidly within 6 months to $28.6bn because while the FG/CBN kept issuing forex 'normally' as if nothing was wrong (in a bid to save the Naira), the inflow of forex into the reserves had dwindled seriously (due to the oil crash) leaving a negative balance.

Meanwhile at the time in question (Nov 2014 - May 2015), oil still sold averagely above $60. Another question for you is, if we could be losing about $1.67billion monthly from the reserves when oil still sold for over $60, what do you think would have happened to Nigeria if the forex restrictions were not enforced having in mind that the oil crash continued to as low as $28/barrel?... Do you know what happens to an import dependent country when its forex reserves drop to zero? Google Venezuela to get an insight.

So I am completely sick and tired of people still saying forex restrictions by Buhari led us to the present mess because while that may be correct, one would have expected these overnight economists to be gracious enough to also tell us if Nigeria really had another option at the time considering that Nigeria was fast running out of reserves.

That's it! We are so fixated on this rethoric of "we don't have any other alternative". This is in responce to the last paragraph of your post. APC as an opposition party had all the time in this world to fashion out alternative ways of running govt before coming to power. They knew the country's reserve was aiming southward as a result of dwindling oil revenue months before taking over. At inception, instead of emptying the treasury to governors in the name of bailout, the funds should have been given out as lifelines to the non-oil sectors which constitutes a large chunk of the country's GDP. That would have helped local production to a great level, boosted local supply and reduced import. Do you know the significance of this? The mad rush for dollars engineered by the CBN restriction policy would have been nonexistent while, maybe, the country wouldn't have plunged into recession. I rest may case here.

Oh yes buhari's approach aggravated the Niger Delta bombings, but at least he has since reversed on that approach hence we haven't heard cases of bombings in close to 4 months.

Then for the forex policy which you claimed was changed, this is the very point where I called you out. To the best of my knowledge and as a matter of fact, nothing has changed and we still practice a multitude of dollar rates. The appreciation of the Naira seen last week is principally because the CBN resumed disbursement of forex into the market and that is not a new policy; this isn't the first time in the last 2 years that the Naira would suddenly appreciate following the CBN's injection of forex into the system, but then, you cannot give what you dont have. About 3 months ago, in order to rebuild up the reserves which had dropped to dangerously low levels (~$23bn), the CBN severely cut the disbursement of forex into the market and this is what put the recent pressure on the Naira which pushed it up to N520. With the reserves now built up close to $30bn, the CBN simply resumed disbursements and this is what led to the recent appreciation (not any new policy or 'obnoxious' policy reversal as you claim). Hopefully with oil price now averaging $55 and oil production now over 2million bbls, it may be possible for the CBN to sustain the weekly injection of forex into the system to continue appreciating the Naira without our reserves dropping to the very low levels again.

In summary, there was no new spectacular policy or reversal of any 'obnoxious' policy; except you are saying the policy is Buhari saving money in the reserves for 3 months and then now injecting the saved FX back into the system to appreciate the Naira. You can't give what you don't have and the CBN wouldn't have been able to inject FX last week into the economy if it didn't save up in the last 3 months.. Of course the only thing which people who are ignorant of the happenings can see is that "the resumption of FX injection happened when Buhari is away, so therefore it is a reversal of Buhari's policy by osinbajo and it is appreciating the naira."

cc: NaijaFutbol

My friend, let's try as much as possible to be sincere when national issues are discussed. I am sure you know deep down within you that the plummeting reserve was not responsible for this govt's flappy forex policy. At departure in May 2019, Jonathan left a reserve of $29.6b which grew to $30 or thereabout, few weeks ago. So, what has changed?

The truth is that Buhari's govt is fond of taking decisions without considering its implications. They tried to control demand for some imported items by restricting access to dollars forgetting that people would invade the parallel market as an escape route. That was the genesis of the plunge in the value of naira.

Before deciding to place restrictions on the 41 so-called luxury items (which they have now relaxed), govt should have enhanced local production to a significant level thereby foreclosing the possibility of panic buying and crazy dollar rush.

Was Buhari's thoughtless grandstanding on military approach rather than dialogue, not responsible for that? What about his forex policy that favours the elite, stifling the manufacturing sector of funds needed for raw material importation and preventing them from operating at optimal capacity? Is the manufacturing sector not a major contribution to the nations GDP? Why did the Naira suddenly rebound against the Dollar if not for the reversal of Buhari's obnoxious forex policy? When asked the reason for the sky-rolling prices of foodstuffs in the Nigerian market during the South-East Town Hall Meeting in Umuahia, Abia State, some hours ago, Minister of Information Alh Lai Mohammed placed the anomaly at the doorstep of mass looting of dollars by politicians.

It's on record that the same Lai Mohammed pinned inability of farmers to grace their farms in the northeast due to Boko Haram escapades as the reason for scarcity of food items when confronted with the same question few months ago.

To set the record straight, the looting of treasury (including hoarding of dollars in private homes) did not happen under the present adminstration hence it beats one's imagination why a bag of rice was sold for N8k in an atmosphere of "massive looting" while the reverse is the case under a government that says it's recovering loots.

Just last week the CBN went back to its vomit by reversing some of its monetary policies including the unbanning of certain import items, a decision that made the Naira to significantly rebound against the US Dollars. This points arguably to the fact that this government's lopsided and unthoughtful fiscal and monetary policies are the reason for instability in the prices of foodstuffs, not necessarily looting of treasury. Lai Mohammed should stop taking Nigerians for a ride.

Politics / Re: Buhari’s Transfer Of Power To Osinbajo Confirms Political Advancement In Nigeria by OLADD: 2:03pm On Feb 27, 2017
Pure lie. Buhari's handover of power to Osinbajo was not down to any political advancement or display of patriotism but a clever move to prevent loosing out in the power equation. Any attempt by Buhari to do otherwise would have ended his grip on power and given birth to a new power bloc.

Buhari simply wants to have his misdemeanors in govt covered up until 2019 even when it's glaring he doesn't have anything to offer. The man is a good schemer.
